Is there anyway to hide the soft keys on the nexus 5 yet?

I'd love to do this. Takes up too much of the bottom of my screen!

Not for 100% of the time. They made immersive apps but that's it. Please read before posting ignorant comments.

On the N4 it was possible with:
Go to system/build.prop/ and add the following line at the end of the build.prop file: qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Reboot.
To re-enable set 0 to 1 and reboot
Don`t know if this will also work on the N5, need root off course.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out. Although I think they changed how you disable them because I couldn't disable them when I upgraded my Nexus 4 to 4.4 either.

I quite like the soft keys, but it is annoying in games. Looking forward to pie control in future roms.

I have read all and being a nexus 5 user u sld know better.
How are you supposed to control your phone without the capacitive buttons..that nexus lacks...how easy it is in case of pie controls to swipe to get menu???
Sent from my C6502 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Haven't tested it on the Nexus 5 yet, but with my old GNEX I used the Xposed framework with the GravityBox module which offers this functionality (hide nav bar and use pie controls).
How do you enable built in full screen from Google ?

Yes, it does. I did this on both of my N5s and used PieControl.
PieControl works OK but I prefer the GMD app on my N4 though. Waiting for the dev to enable it on the N5.

You need root to write to build.prop since you need to mount /system as R/W.

Great. Enable the root functions of ES File Explorer and edit away.
disabling soft keys in n5
It does work if you root your phone - I followed this and am happy now:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOa3uX4CY2s
edited system/build.prop/ and installed handy soft key.

Root access -enables- you to mount /system as R/W. It does not mean every file explorer app does so 'on the fly'. First make sure /system is mounted as R/W, then edit build.prop.

Done some work on the apk and it needs input from the settings apk. But not as simple as that the way the app is set up it requires the core from the 8x for the linguistics. So its a no go for any other phone with out serious work and serious battery drain.

Yep. You need either the X8 (or theoretically the S800) for it to work. Even if it could be modded to work on a standard cpu, it's going to kill your battery life.
Use open mic+ ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=mic++play )

Renamed it exactly to SamsungIME.apk placed in system/app and set permissions rw/r/r and on reboot the Samsung keyboard is just gone completely. Any advice? Something simple I'm missing I'm sure.

Having issues downloading pocket. I get error 941. This happens on my Nexus 5 and my Nexus 7. I have tried to do a whole factory reset of both devices. Clear the cache and data for the Play Store prior to that. Anything I can do? When I try to even download it from the web store and pushed out to my devices I still get the error 941. Thank you

Try this once :
Download pocket.apk file from this host below

Install it on your phone (allow unknown resources from settings > security menu )
After successful installation , run the app
You can try update on playstore later

Not useless , it's few steps more to be more invisible or anonymous
Why we use vpn or proxies
Why we spoof our gps locations
Why we spoof macadress in public networks
Why sometime we avoid to use the same cell phone when changing sim card
Why encryption
Why firewalls
Why serial numbers
Why android or google unique id
Just imagine

Is there a way to change the MAC without custom kernel just with root?
Is there a way I can turn the screen on or power on my phone and it shows my widgets first extended down sort of like the image below? then I can hit the little lock icon that be at the bottom to go to my pin lock screen and enter my password? Is there an App out that can do that or a hack or ROM out that does it already?
