Can Windows run on my One Max Android? - HTC One M8 for Windows

Hello, I had to come over here to your guys section and maybe I can get a more solid answer. Is there a way to either dual boot or just put Windows on my Verizon HTC One Max? I would love to be able to dual boot or even make it a Windows phone all together. I would really love to use Cortana. If it's possible I know people here at XDA will figure it out and make a lot of people happy. The last time I used a Windows phone it was slow and worthless. I think the new Windows phone are far from the old ones. Thanks for any suggestions, other than go buy a Windows phone.
OR
I do have an extra HTC DNA laying around, could Windows from an M8 run on the DNA?

[Q] Att desire windows mobile 7 dual boot?

I am a new poster to this site. I have been looking all around the posts and cant find my answer. I just bought a new ATT HTC Desire and it is stock with Android 2.2
I am wanting to know if it is possiable to dual boot with the new Windows Mobile 7?
I have a HTC HD2 that i dual boot (windowmobile 6.5/android 2.2) and was wondering if the same cound be done to the Desire. Any help of links would be beyond appriciated.
Not going to happen. Not explaining why. Buy an hd7
Lol. No explination huh?
The HD7 is on Tmobile and I am on ATT. Even unlocked I believe i will have the same data connections issues that i do with the HD2, i.e. getting ATT 3/4G on a Tmobile phone.
Any thoughts?

Windows Phone 7 is a different animal than Windows Mobile 6.5. The boot loader for Windows Mobile 6.5 was easy to hack and thus the reason that they were able to come up with a dual boot feature on the HD2.
Even if a dev took the time to hack the Inspire's boot loader, chances of getting a Windows Phone 7 ROM image to load on it would probably be slim to none.
I would be happy with WM 6.5
I would be happy with WM 6.5
I want to thank all in educating me in this. Im new at hacking phones and trying to get as much insight as possiable.
So I guess my las question is, with the new Htc Inspire, running Android, can I put WM 6.5 with a dual boot?

Sell the Inspire and buy the HD2 if you want Windows so bad. I'm pretty sure none of the devs here are interested in porting Windows Mobile to an Android device. Not trying to be rude or anything.Just saying dude..

I think the chances are pretty slim because the current Android bootloader that HTC is using on its current line has not been hackable at this point, so the chances of someone being able to hack it into a dual boot mode are very remote.
What I meant to convey in my previous post is that on the HD2, since it had a WM 6.5 boot loader, that was an easy hack to make it dual-bootable and have it load a bootable Android ROM on it. What you want a dev to do is the reverse: Take an HTC Android bootloader and hack it so that it can dual boot and load a Windows ROM.
If you want a phone on AT&T that does 3G, then you need to choose either an Android phone or a Windows 7 phone or Windows Mobile 6.5 phone. Trying to get a hacked hybrid to run both is probably not going to happen...
I see your point and thank you for the insight. If a developer was willing to do this at some point I would donate generously. As for King Shady, I have a HD2 with dual boot and it is the most amazing device minus the lack of 3/4g connectivity on At&t. Having both worlds is the best way to go. I am not a fan of Wm7. 6.5 works just fine. I just want both. Lol, is that too much to ask? Maybe at some point a developer will get around to it.
Lol, I would also like to mention to all the negative people out there, please look at how many views this post has had. obviously some people do feel the way I do about having both operating systems.

It will never happen, not being negative. Stating facts.
Hm... that's weird. Guess this is fake then - silly me.

Why does everyone want a different OS than what they paid for? Wp7 users want androdi, Android users want wp7. Just buy the one you want or do what I did and just buy both.

Thats a HD2 not an android phone! For starters the nand chip on an android phone uses a incompatible file system to a windows based operating system, it also has a totally diffrent bootloader structure, it would be lyk trying to use DOS to boot ubuntu. Even if someone wrote a whole new bootloader and developed a tool to format the nand to a fat file system, the radio isnt compatible with wp anyway!

I understand that, but do the new Windows phones even use fat?
I'm not sure, i know fat (32) atleast has a 4gb limit on transfering individual files so maybe MS has switched to NTFS for WP7.

Don't you mean 4G? I can get HSDPA and HSUPA on my HTC Fuze running the latest Energy ROM utilizing WM6.5.
Doing anything of the such would be illegal. Porting, say, Touchwiz to this phone, I know terrible choice, would be legal because Android is open source. When you are dealing with closed source material you have to be super careful in what you port, and this is one of those things that, even if possible, no dev is going to risk going to jail to do.

Thats not true, its only techically warez if the company developing the software, would of gained revinue from the sale of the software. So for example porting wp7 is warez, but porting HTC Sence isnt. As there revinue is generated by selling the hardware not the software

[Q] WM7 on an Android device?

Is it possible to get WM7 on an Android native device? I'm not asking for a specific device, just in general.
Though, if I were to ask for a specific device, I'm thinking about my Touch Pro 2, or an HTC Evo Shift, or the Samsug Transform Ultra. Just want to see if it's possible to get Win7 on a phone I can get on my Boost plan.
I don't need your "just get a win7 phone" answers. I just want to know if the above is possible. Thank you.
no its not possible but i think in the future with the unbrickable mod
No, it is not possible, because there is no such thing as "WM7." Windows Mobile never made it to a version 7 -- 6.x was all she wrote.
And no one will tell you to get a "win7 phone" either. Windows 7 is a desktop OS. Aside from one novelty model put out by some manufacturer in Japan (Fujitsu maybe?) there is no such thing as a phone based on Windows 7.

A lot of guys talk of WM7 instead of WP7, so guess that's what he meant...
Anyway, WP7 is extremly unlikly to work on a native android just because it's closed source and therefore not easy to port...
Yes, I meant WP7, though I could be more lenient on my lingo given I was in the WP7 forums. Apparently, tai4de2 took my misspelling to heart. Heh heh. Understandable though.
Thanks guys, now I know.

[Q] Dual boot phone list?

im looking for a list of phones that can dual boot Android and Windows phone 7 or 8.
currently i have an HD2 that is capable of this and while i like this phone, im interested in seeing what other phones have this capability as well and how they compare to HD2.
The reason im asking here is because i have had some trouble finding an updated list of the phones that have this ability. Now i could search through each phones thread 1 by 1 figure this out, but it would be nice to also be able to compare hardware at the same time to see how they all match up.
Any help in finding a list that can do this would be appreciated.
HTC
I heard a while back that HTC was creating a dual-bootable phone running Android (Probably KitKat as of today) and Windows Phone OS.
As nice as that sounds, I highly doubt that will ever materialize, or if there will ever be a phone in existence that dual boots from factory.
I think the toshiba TG01 also has similar capabilities as the HD2, but that is all I know.
this is the best list I found in google: http://www.xda-developers.com/tag/dual-boot/ which is xda blog lol
thanks for the responses guys. when researching this subject i realized that my search results were mainly coming up as info regarding how microsoft could be interested in making it easier to dual boot phones in the future. while this is nice, it doesn't help me now.
whether factory or through a custom flash, im simply interested in a phone that could do more than just one mobile OS. according to the link above, at least there's a few phones that have this cabability.
my goal is to upgrade from my HD2 to newer hardware, while improving all the functions and capability that i now have.
at least now we have a rough draft of a few devices that have this rare ability.

Wanting an 8X for VZW.

Hello all!
I've always been exclusively Android and never even thought about trying iOS.
But when MS put out WindowsPhone 8 I was extremely curious.
Now I'm about to grab an 8X off of eBay just to try it out!
Some things to know:
I'm on Verizon
I may want to "hack" this thing (I used to flash ROMs and kernels all day with my old Galaxy Nexus)
I have a lot of Google stuff i.e. Play Music, Drive etc..
Things I need to know:
Will this phone get WP 8.1?
Are there problems with the 8.1 Developer Preview once installed? (with the LTE or Beats Audio functionality or anything)
Are there benefits from unlocking these phones like free tethering and whatnot?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!
I don't know much about this phone. I just got one as well.
But it seems to me that it's the complete opposite of a galaxy nexus : everything is blocked, impossible to flash downgrades, community is therefore not very interested in a phone that HTC didn't intend for "hack"
On the other hand I think it will officially get 8.1. And its a really nice phone I think (I use a nexus 4 as my daily one).
And for Google stuff use a Google phone (no gmail app on wp)
I have one branded and blocked. Kind of discouraging when you've easily flashed thousand of ROMs on other devices..

Hey thanks for replying!
But yeah I assumed most Windows Phones would be locked up. Especially compared to a stock Android phone like a Nexus.
I just thing it would be cool to try out. I don't ever get much facetime with anything WP related.
Would make for an interesting change! I'll keep my Moto X around for sure though.
As someone with the TMO branded device, It is a nice phone. The Developer Preview for 8.1 has known issues with configuring CDMA devices. (it will be fixed in the final release).
As far as Windows Phone goes, it is perfectly hackable, it just comes down to sheer volume....Most people with a Windows Phone have a Lumia, so there are more people working on that. There are a couple of ways to load custom/other firmware for some variants of the 8x. (Most people have been posting in the WP8 General forum)
Also, HTC and Microsoft have both announced that the phone will be getting an official update to Windows Phone 8.1.
Hope that helps!

Windows Phone on OnePlus One possible?

Hey,
Before I bought my beloved oneplus one I had a couple of devices before. The HTC Sensation, the galaxy nexus (which was.. made be nearly turn my back against android) and as my name may suggest the legendary HD2.
All of them had their quirks etc. but what I really loved about the HD2 was the possibility of switching between Windows Phone and Android.
So today I'd like to ask you about the possibility of seeing a port from Windows Phone 8(.1) to our gorgeous OnePlus One. I know that its a contradiction to the CM philosophy but still.. I never hated Windows phone and I'd like to give it a try without giving up on the Oneplus one.
The M8 and opo qre using a quite similar chipset so.. Chances arent too bad, arent they?

Had you followed the rules you would know that this is not possible on any newer android device. Not only is the bootloaders locked down and would need to be rewritten for WP. The HD2 was also a WM device3 first so the bootloader was made for MS products. But this has been covered already.
