[Q] Kyocera hydro won't update supersu - Android Apps and Games

I recently rooted my Kyocera hydro life(c6530n) using root genius. The superuser it gave me is called Kingroot or Kinguser which works ok but I want to switch to supersu. The only problem I'm having is that it won't update the binary. I keep getting an installation failed messege and it still doesn't work after I reboot my phone and try again. I heard you can update it through a custom recovery but this phone has a locked bootloader and I don't want to brick it but if that is the only way I am willing to try. So basically I need a way to update the supersu binary without flashing a custom recovery but if that is the only way i will follow your steps and do it.
Thank you

I seconded that request
yes

Same thing here.
Did you guys ever figure anything out. If I do, I'll post back with a solution.

[Q] Rooted but no Root access

Hi every one,
I currently am using an LG G2 from tmobile (801 model). My device says its rooted but it doesnt have root access because I forgot to flash supersu binaries before i flashed the 4.4.2 version of the software. But now my custom recovery doesnt exist anymore.
I've tried using LG flash tools to flash back to 4.2. stock settings to start over but I am unable to do so for some reason. LG Flash tools isnt able to recognize my G2 in download mode. My computer is able to recognize my G2 when it is turned on though.
So is there anyway to flash a custom recovery without root access?
Or is there anyway to flash supersu binaries without a custom recovery using ADB?
I've tried trouble shooting with multiple threads and multiple downgrade methods but none of them are giving me any luck. I really want to flash a custom rom on my LG g2 and have the benefits of root access.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All you need to do is install the towelroot.apk to give instant temporary root. Then install SuperSU from the dev thread here on xda or from the play store. After installing SuperSU go to its settings and select install as a system app and reboot when finished. It might take 2 attempts before it successful (it always takes me 2 tries). Then uninstall towelroot as it's no longer required since you've gained permanent root. Now install the autorec.apk and you'll install TWRP recovery. Now that you have root and recovery and have control of your device you can customise to taste. In my case I always install busybox and a terminal emulator so I can further fine tune my system.
I hope this helps

still got issues :/

However even when i go into supersu, it keeps saying my binaries are not up to date. So i cant install anything and I cant do anything to install a custom recovery without root access.

So you have installed Towelroot, achieved root then having issues installing the SuperSU.apk this is indeed an issue. Towelroot should allow for it to be installed. When you install Towelroot do you get the warnings from the installer and Lookout that the package contains an exploit? Do you interrupt or stop it from fully installing when you see the warnings? The only thing I can think of is you are doing something wrong when installing towelroot which is prohibiting it from doing its job in gaining root.

[Q] Quick Noob Question about upgrading to 4.4.4 and Root

Hi, first post on xda. Lurked for over two years and well, you gotta start somewhere
I'm on rooted stock 4.4.2 ROM with unlocked bootloader.
The OTA is constantly reminding me to update to 4.4.4. I'd like to, but I need to know if I can safely re-root after upgrading and wether anything that uses root right now will break or if they'll just continue working after a sucessful re-root. I'm thinking about Busybox, xPosed framework with GravityBox and MotoGuide.
Help me?

After the update you will be able to root again. If you flash Phil's recovery it will ask you to root the device for you.
I would recommend to uninstall xposed and its modules, unroot the device and flash stock recovery before installing the update. You'll need to reinstall your root apps after. Others have had success installing updates using CWM or TWRP but it didn't work for me so.

Help with rooting my phone, thanks

Hi, I have an HTC One M8 on 5.0.1 and I have little knowledge with rooting. I want to root my phone because there are some apps I want to use that are only capable of being used if my phone is rooted. I've tried Kingo root and it doesn't work on my phone so I was wondering if someone can give me instructions and download links so I can root my phone. If you can it would be much appreciated, thanks.

You have 2 options at the moment.
1) Ship device to one of the many great people with a Java Card/XTC2 Clip - Look at the OP of this thread to see where the people are located.
2) With some time and luck - King Root, which has been proven to work for a number of M8 users.

I was able to get S-Off using the KingRoot and Sunshine method. Now what? Although I did get root long enough to get S-off, I lose it after each time I get temp root with the KingRoot app again. KingRoot will say that I have root, but I can't get SuperSU to install.
I am doing a factory reset now and will try to use KingRoot to get temp root, then install SuperSU. Will I then be able to install TWRP after SuperSU is installed correctly?

If you are S-OFF, then I would flash a custom recovery and then a custom ROM (if you want)
or flash superSU in the custom recovery if you just want root.
Once S-OFF you are in full control of your device, so do some reading about it as you can end up with an expensive paperweight easily if you don't know what you're doing.
Or try vroot, i rooted my phone in just 1 tap
dexter0218, I think it would be BIG BIG news here if there were a one-click root solution for the newest M8. 5.01 phones aren't rootable easily.
boltz111, no need to fiddle with SuperSU. Now that you are S-Off, make sure you have ADB and get the latest TWRP for the M8. Drop to your ADP shell and do:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrp.zip
(sub in the name of your zip)
That's it. Then:
- Power down
- Power up in bootloader (hold down vol)
- Go to recovery
You have to go to recovery before booting or else the rom will overwrite the recovery.
Once you're in TWRP, you can load up SuperSU from a .zip and it will do its thing.
Or flash a rooted ruu from fastboot, loads you back to stock but with perm root, never had an issue

Sm-s906l root exist?

Hello I'm starting to think I'm the ONLY ONE with this model of s6 because I've been looking for a root that would work for nearly a month before breaking down and finally making an account here to ask. I've tried Odin but it failed. Every other root option doesn't have my model listed as compatible and I don't want to end up with a brick phone. I'm new to android and I've learned that rooting isn't nearly as easy as jail breaking. Can anyone here help me?
i downloaded https://root-apk.kingoapp.com I use it on my SM-S906L sometimes it fails but i just retry and then it roots! works everytime! I also download supersu and open after rooting, then it removes the kingo superuser for me and then i just reboot.
Here's the stock verizon firmware, it's for verizon but it works with straight talk. There's also TWRP and SU in this package.

Flash twrp onto the phone with odin, and then install supersu with twrp and you'll be rooted.

Received Nougat update while having TWRP and Super SU Root

Hey, I'm curious how I received the Nougat update if I have TWRP and Super SU root. I've never been able to receive a phone update if I had this setup. Doesn't super su modify the system? If I try installing the update will I brick the phone?
Edit - Sorry, I meant to post in the questions thread. You guys can lock, move our delete this post.
I accidentally updated my phone while having TWRP and SuperSU installed. It does not brick your device, but you lose root access. I'm currently trying to re-root my phone but I'm having some issues. My phone seems to have remained unlocked.
I did the same thing...got worried at first, but everything looked okay so I went ahead and flashed Magisk...seems fine.
Hello!
I have B342 and want to update to B360. My phone is rooted and TWRP works.
When i use the normal way to update, the phone boots to TWRP and an Error message comes during update
How do I do it?
Thanks!
