question about sim unlock - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i few months back i bought a moto g to use while i was rebuilding my nexus 4. after my rebuild the gf wanted my moto g but she is on virgin so i got an unlock code off ebay and it worked great. unlocked it and all i had to do was set up the virgin apn. well 2 weeks ago the phone was just glitching out hard with most KK roms when they used to work fine. so i decided to flash the stock firmware for telus and once it booted up it was sim locked again and the code that i bought doesnt work now. says unsuccessful. so i guess my question is how is this even possible? and how can i get this damn thing unlocked again? i had to give the gf my nexus and i want it back
any help or insight would be greatly appreciated

If the phone is from T-Mobile, and you are using it successfully on another carrier, then it is already SIM unlocked.

[Q] sim unlock a rooted non-stock T-Mobile G3 to run on ATT

Like the question the asks, I have a rooted TMO G3 running custom roms and looking at moving over to ATT and trying to see if I need to ditch the root and custom roms and go back to stock condition before sim unlocking. I have posted same question my TMO G3 forum. Any and all help is appreciated.

You shouldn't have to you. My att D850 is sim unlocked and used on TMO. I still have to use ATT roms.
All you do is shut off the phone, put in a sim from another carrier and boot up. You should then get prompted to enter the unlocked code and walla.

thanks for the reply but since I have a t-mobile G3 and been running root and custom roms since the very first days, I am a little wary about doing this for going to ATT

how to find unlock code on sprint lgls996 flex 2

Hi,
I bought LG G flex 2 (sprint) pin packed. When i opened the box it was unlocked and i could use any sim i want. I reset my phone plenty of times but it didnt asked me any activation code. It is currently operation on zv6 version software. I want to know how i can find out the activation code on my phone? Is there anyway? Because i cannot upgrade my phone to zv9 it shows error while installing the update. So I am left with only one choice which is to flash my phone's software. Anyway by doing so my phone will get locked again. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you

Copying image from one phone to another?

Hi,
My wife and I have XT1032 Moto Gs on the UK Tesco network. Mine has been rooted and is running CM13, hers is stock. We are both coming to the end of the contract in a couple of weeks and I want to move both phones into SIM-only contracts on a different network.
I'm assuming that both phones will still be locked to Tesco and I will need to unlock them to use them on a new network, and that just because I've unlocked the bootloader, rooted and flashed CM13 on mine that won't mean mine isn't still locked to Tesco.
I'm assuming I will need to revert mine back to stock before I try to get it unlocked? If so, rather than use a generic stock rom, can I backup my wife's and restore it to mine? What is the easiest path for me to take, given that I will be reflashing CM13 on mine as soon as I'm on the new network?
Many thanks!
I'm assuming your contract was for a year but you shouldn't have any problem getting the unlock code from Tesco. And I don't see any reason why you would have to unroot/go back to stock.
Your best bet would be to contact your carrier and find out for sure though.

My Moto G3 cant be SIM unlocked-help

I bought a Moto G3 on internet, in exellent condition, everything on the phone works, but it is SIM locked (it is asking for code to unlock).
I went in 5-6 different stores and they tried to unlock it, but none of them succeed. One of them told me that they were unable to install some "drivers".
If it means something, I unlocked bootloader in meantime, it is running Android 6.
If anything comes to your mind help me, because at the moment, I can only use it as a tablet.
