[Q] GT N8000 Ethernet Support - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I'm trying to connect my Samsung GT N8000 tablet (Gnabo Rom 4.2) to the internet via an Ethernet cable and an OTG cable. In the Version of the ROM I have there is clearly an option for Ethernet available in the connectivity tab, but its always greyed out. I'm using a KY-RD9700 Ethernet to USB 2.0 connector and a Samsung OTG cable. The OTG cable works normally with other devices but its not recognizing the ethernet at all. Assisting apps such as Ethernet on the play store do not help. I understand this is most likely a kernel issue, but since ethernet is already being shown in the connectivity tab, I'm not sure. If that could be the issue, is there any KitKat compatible ethernet eth0 supported kernels for the Gt N8000? I'm having trouble finding one as they made the newer Note 10.1 which pretty much screwed people having the old one. Any solution of workaround will be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Is it possible to connect Android tablet to wired Internet (ADSL) directly

Hi
I want to connect a HUAWEI MediaPad 7 (ICS 4.0.3 kernal 3.0.8) to wired internet (ADSL) connection through a USB Ethernet adapter, do I need any driver for this or will this work directly? I ordered a USB Ethernet adapter from ebay and currently waiting for it.
I really want a work around for this because I don't want to use Wifi @ home
thanks
Indunil
Why don't you want to use WIFI ?
The success of what you're trying to do seems to depend on the model of the tablet and looks like it can require flashing a custom kernel.
I would just Google your tablet model and "usb ethernet" and see what comes up to see if someone's already done it.

Ethernet Adapters Not Detected - Note Pro 12.2

Has anyone else been experiencing problems with ethernet adapters plugged in via micro to USB 2.0 and 3.0? My Note Pro has no issues detecting wired, wireless mice and keyboards. With the ethernet to USB adapters is a whole different story, there is no indication of the ethernet adapter routing data.
I have tried several ethernet adapters, the link state indicators on the ethernet adapters do light up, but once again Android does not give any indication of the connection being established. I have disabled WiFi, and even checked under 'Other Networks' menu on the system settings. Ethernet is listed as an option within the menu, but is disabled and grayed out, with or without the adapter and connection.
The cable has been tested and there are no issues, also I have tested the ethernet adapters with my laptop and my laptop has no issues establishing a connection via the adapter. I have had no luck finding for the solution, some people have reported this issue with other Android devices, but a clear solution is still undefined.
If anyone has a solution, feel free to post your findings.
After all those of us that are having this issue would appreciate a solution.

Here are some of the adapters that I used:
UNITEK USB 3.0
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EHDNAOE/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I/O Crest USB 2.0
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003M8I0RM/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I tested both of these adapters with USB 2.0 & 3.0 micro to USB adapters, both garnered the same result. It is odd that even the USB 2.0 adapter.
does not work either.
This bobj ethernet adapter which I had from Toshiba Thrive days works on tab pro 12.2. I must have used an OTG usb adapter to connect it. All are probably 2.0. Don't have a Note.

I have also been trying to do this - using a generic device from amazon that was advertised ad supporting my galaxy tabs. Greyed outat first, then suddenly worked - for two days. Since then, the ethernet option has been greyed out in settings, and friends have brought laptops which connect fine so i am sure it is not the cable. . Also had been using the charging port with adapter for months before this to use an external keyboard and mouse. Those no longer work either. Much harder to troubleshoot this tablet than any real computer!

[Q] WiFi Adapter for TAB 2

Hey All,
I have an external wifi adapter, Atheros AR9271. I have seen someone on YouTube use this wifi adapter with a Samsung Galaxy S2 so I hoped my Tab would recognise it as well. I can't get it to recognise it though, I have linux deploy and in linux if you do lsusb you can see the AR9271 as a USB device but not a wifi adapter, I have also tried it in a powered hub and by butchering a power cable for a more direct approach but still nothing.
Does anyone know how I can make the TAB 2 recognise the AR9271?
This is the first time I have ever rooted an android device or used linux so go easy on me
Also should probably have mentioned, its the 7" Tab 2 P3110 Android 4.2.2

Where to start: using a 'Wifi USB Adapter', with an OTG cable, for a second NIC

I would like to use an OTG cable to connect a Wifi USB adapter, to my phone. I need to use the Wifi card in my phone for one thing, and the secondary Wifi USB adapter for another thing.
Would this be a framework thing, where I would have to compile my own patched kernel for my specific cell phone(Samsung Galaxy S3), or could I possibly be able to do this programmatically using the UsbManager/UsbDevice/UsbInterface/UsbDeviceConnection classes?
I haven't really done much with these classes yet, but I do know that the Alfa AWUS036H works with the Samsung Galaxy S2 using Pcap Capture.

OTG RJ45 J7 support

I bought a RJ45 Adapter and OTG recently, but when I got it I find out that there's no support to J7, so I did some research on the web, and I realize that it's because of the kernel. Today I tried to add support by myself, and it seems like nothing happened after I did every thing. What did I do?
First, I tried to flash the Ethernet driver to my J7 and I find out there is a new folder name init.d in /system/etc/
Second, I tried to add init.d support to kernel, but I think I failed it.
Is there a way to port RJ45 to Samsung J7??
Please HELP ME!!
I think only nexus support it.

Forget this phone, LG V20 and Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ support OTG USB to ethernet adapters. See more here:
