[Completed] Charger help pls - XDA Assist

Just bought a new nexus 4 and I've noticed it takes an age to charge anyway I found another two chargers at home and on one of them it says fast charger and the cable is a lot thicker and the other is just another charger but its made by motor rolor. Now when I plug the fast charger in it says its going to take 30mins less than the original charger to complete and when I plug the motor rolor in it about 15 mins quicker than the original charger .my question is would i be doing any harm to my battery if I use the other chargers and should I just keep using the original one.

Nope
You Can Use Any Charger

Cheers

Hi I've been using the fast charge motor rolor charger and its actually taking 2 hrs quicker to charge my phone .now I haven't had a phone for a while my last device was a galaxy s2 and I'm sure it never took over 3hrs to fully charge.so I'm thinking maybe the nexus original charger was charging far to slow anyway.any thoughts on this? Thanks again

[Q] Slow battery charge via usb [i9020T]

Hello, I just got my Nexus S this morning and as I am from Australia the UK wall charger that came with it is incompatible so I am charging via usb.
I did a forum search and read some threads and found out a full charge takes about 3 hours. My problem is the battery is charging only %1 every 5 minutes. At this rate it will take something like 7 hours to fully charge.
My question is: Is usb charge slower than a wall charge and would it be ok to charge my phone with a Sony Ericsson wall charger because I don't have anything else? I thought it would be alright but I am just checking because I only got the phone today and don't want to break it.

You can use any micro usb charger like your old phone or any htc charger etc. No problem. i always charge with any usb charger more than 500 mAH like 1A.
USB only has output capabiliy is 500 mA or so
charger got 800 mA or 1 A , i don't remember exact number ...
Thanks guys, I thought it would be fine but it was good to be sure.
If u want a better wall charger use a HTCs and get a thicker data cable... my phone charges fast .. the Modular AC that comes with samsungs phones suck ass lol .. and the think USB too.. buy a data cable that's thick and Ull be happy =D

I think macbooks have more juice in their USBs so I guess it depends on the computer.
But standard is 500mAh.
Ipad chargers and other tablet chargers are good for fast charging.
Are a couple of sites that sell good chronic ones.

over 25 hours to charge note 10.1 ?

Hi I just bought a used galaxy note 10.1
it did not come with a usb wall charger
after 7 hours of charging
a search said its my usb charger
I was wounding if it is normal for this to take over 24 hours from 0% battery on a charger like this
that only gives 0.5 A
or am I doing damage to my battery by leaving on charge for longer than 24 hours
its like a incredibly slow trickle charge
right now its almost full it claims but im not sure if it will ever be full at this rate
I thought maybe 24 hours but now its 1 hour past 24
I was trying to (calibrate the battery )
so I let it die to 0%
I turned the device on half way though charging
noticed it had an x though the batter so I freaked out and tryed plugging and unplugging it like 10 times
I was wounding how bad that might be for the memory of my battery to do something like that
because I unplugged it before it got to 100% when i was attempting to calibrate it
Im not sure how sensitive these batteries are
but your input would be much appreciated
You could use an off brand iPad charger with your USB cable to help it charge faster your typical phone charger will only give off 0.5 ma, so look for one for a tablet

only one thing to your problem with charging, replace the new one usb cable and your problem will be solving

I know that but I was wondering if leaving it plugged in will it be bad for my battery at all
to leave it plugged in now approaching 28 hours
the charging logo on the screen appears to have approximately 75% charge so far
I want it to get to 100%
should I unplug it if its not charged in 6-8 more hours
im mainly wondering if it is even possible to fully charge to 100%
on a old ipod usb charger or not

You are not harming your device. The only negative is that it will take longer to charge. The red is normal when not using either the correct type charging block or usb cable, it is not harming your tablet.
I would just do what some of the other posters have suggested, getting a new charger made for a tablet, just because waiting that long for it to charge is not practical.

SGN 10.1 GT-N80XX series need a specifically designed charger for them.
One thing for sure, it need to provide 2.1 A, 5 V & most phone charger only supply around 0.5 - 1 A.
Most 3rd party charger also only supply around 0.5 - 1 A.
The other is the data pin(s) & it quite different with Apple's charger.
I've tried several 3rd party chargers & Apple chargers (iPod,iPhone & iPad) & most of it unable to charge my N8000.
You need to buy an original charger for your device.
Or you can try buying 3rd Party N80XX charger on eBay from a reputable seller.
That being said, you also need an original cable to be used with the original charger.
Most 3rd party cable can only supply 0.5 A & some 3rd party charger can only be used using specific 3rd party cable.
A long 3rd party cable (10 ft / 3 m) usually can only supply around 1 A.
For example :
I have a Powerbank that uses its own cable to charge at 2.1A rate, but I can't use my own original cable with it
But my original cable is fine & I uses it to charge using my original wall charger.
It takes around 4-5 hours from 4% to 100% (with WiFi ON & all sync on)
0.5 A can't charge your device while in Power ON condition.
To charge at 0.5 A rate you have to turn OFF your device & it will take a long time to get 100%
(N80XX series have a 7000mAh battery so you can calculate how long).
NOTE:
The battery with red cross icon means that the charger/cable isn't designed for N80XX (usually the data pin settings is mismatching the original design), but it will still charge your device at a very low amperage (lower than 0.5A) to prevent damage for using inappropriate charger.

yes I will as soon as I can
thank you
I am still a little worried that It will never make it to 100% with the only one I have available for now
does not really sound like anyone has had the patience to let it go to full with this slow trickle
Amazon has the chargers and cables.

[Q] Charging Too Slow Now

I have had my Verizon Galaxy S4 since February of this year. I've been using the stock Samsung AC charger that came with it. It's always charged the phone pretty fast if I wasn't using the phone. It would charge about 15% in 20 minutes. Now it's only charging about 3 or 4% in 20 or 30 minutes. Now I didn't do anything different to my phone. I've been on this same ROM for over a month and this is just now a problem in the last week. My wife has the exact phone and charger that I have and when I use her charger it charges just as rapidly as mine used to, so I know it's not the usb port on my phone itself. I haven't dropped or damaged my charger at all in any way either.
Does anyone have any ideas about why this is happening?
If it charges fast on you wife's charger you've pretty much answered your own question.
Try using her cable with your charger, if it still charges slow then get a new charger.

Ok, I'll give that a shot. Thanks.
I had the same problem too ! Did a full battery reset and everything is going good now !
You have to charge it for 12 hours and drain your battery until your phone don't boot. Charge it and here you are !
Yeah these devices act funky every blue moon. My wifes didn't even recognize ANY oem charger for a week. Only detected others as USB devices causing slow charge rate. Removing dust, component cleaner, fresh install, all did no good. Eventually it just resolved the issue itself. All chargers work normally again.
change the usb cables
I also had the same problem before. I'd been using the original charger and usb cable and noticed that charging takes a lot of time than normal.
I found that it's on the usb cable. I accidentally found it when I used gsam battery monitor. It displays the current being received by your phone when charging. Using the original usb cable, it only gets around 600mah. I tried another usb cable (from a previous Samsung device) and now my phone gets 1,900mah (closed to the charger output of 2,000 mah).
Every since I changed the usb cable, my charging is fast now. Hope this helps.
I would try a new cable and Charger that is rated 2.1 amps or better if will be charged real quick

I noticed that using the Pure Nexus rom my charging time became significantly faster. In fact I can get a full charge from nearly dead in just over an hour. This is using the charger and cable that came with the phone.

MT tenso
How do you make full battery reset?
The charging rate is based on the output rating of the charger, which is determined by the resistance value between the Data+ and Data- USB pins. If you use a cheap cable with high(er) internal cabling resistance, that will throw off the detected charger output capacity rating, and knock you down to a lower charging current and longer charging time.
Also, one time, even with the original charger and original cable, I couldn't charge at anything more than the default USB 500mA. I ended up having to power off the phone, and power it on again, which fixed the charging current and speed problem.
Install this app & check if it is getting charged at max current; anything less than 1200 mA when screen on & 1900 mA when screen off, you need to change your cable or charger

I read somewhere that if you activate airplane mode the battery is charging faster.

Z3 charging

Are there any people here using a different charger in order to charge the Z3 a little quicker? As it is, it takes forever to fully charge the battery, especially during the last 5%. I want to try the turbo charger from Motorola but I'm concerned of ruining my battery.

The stock charger is pretty fast for me already. What is ur charger's amperage?
Sent from my D6653 using XDA Free mobile app
I use the 2.0A charger that came with my Tab S. It charges reasonably fast. However, if you use the magnetic charging cable, it'll charge the phone faster.
I bought the motorola quick charger. I definitely don't plan on using it all the time. It'll be a travel charger where I might need to add some charge in a pinch.
There's a thread documentind the rate at which different charging methods charge at. I put my Turbo Charger results at the bottom.

Huawei Fast Charger is slow as heck

I have imported my Huawei and I absolutely love the phone. Since it is an import it came with a UK Type fast charger. I simply used a wall adapter and powered it over the US current. Well, that fast charger isn't working what so ever - after 2 hours I only go to about 35 percent from 0. I have used my Note 7 charger to charge it, and there the charging times are much faster. Any ideas on what, if anything, I am doing wrong and maybe where I can buy a working Huawei charger. I can't return the charger since I bought the phone over Amazon and it strictly came with no warranty. It is not the end of the world if I can't use the included charger I just want to see how fast this phone truly charges.
Either this post is a joke or someone sold you a non supercharge Huawei charger. Also are you using both the charger and charging cable that came with the phone in the box. It's white with purple in the USB A area
Here from 10 to 80% in 45 minutes
Same here. I find the first 80% to be lightning quick and then it slows to a "normal" charging speed for the last 20%.
Must be something wrong with your charger or cable.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
Using the european adapter, not the UK one, but charging is lightning fast for me as well.
hi
the orginal adapter and cable
i charge from 0% to 90% in about 55 minutes, the last 10 % are slower maybe 30 minutes to full
greetz benji
Mine took almost 2 hours from 48% to 100%. I'm using Original Huawei charger.......
Install ampere and see what the milliamp charge rate shows as. When the battery is almost dead it should charge at just under 5 amps and will slowly decrease as the battery level increases.
Mine typically goes from 0 to 65% in half an hour, then 90% around half an hour on top of this. The final 10% takes almost another hour.

Well there is obviously something wrong with your charger, cable or phone. I would guess the first two.
Mine turbocharges in a few minutes. I've been using fir about a year now.
Could be that an "European" charger intended for 220 volts does not provide rapid charge when plugged into a 110 volts wall plug. I have for example an electric toothbrush I bought here in Europe and it refuses to charge on a 110 volt system when using an adapter. Maybe see if you can buy an OEM charger intended for the US?
There are 2 different chargers that are official, there's the supercharge one that comes bundled with the phone which I guess everyone is using and is getting great charging speeds... (Gotta use both the charger and the cable)
And then there's the fast charger which is pretty slow compared to the bundled charger.
The next time you wanna travel abroad make sure you buy a supercharger for that regions type of socket.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
If you buy a replacement make sure it actually says SuperCharge on it.
