[Q] Daydream locks instead of daydreaming - General Questions and Answers

My Galaxy Note 8.0 (gt-n5110) is rooted running Kit Kat. I used Rom Toolbox Lite to freeze some apps, etc. I have discovered Daydream on my phone and want to use it on my Note but it seems that my tablet shuts off rather than daydream.
1. I do not shut it off, I let the screen timeout.
2. I can "start now" any screensaver (colors, clock, etc)
3. I did notice that "startup settings" is missing.
4. "Stay Awake" is off in Developer Options.
Is it possible I froze some daydream setting? If so, what is it? Why does my screen turn off instead of going to sleep and daydreaming after the set time?
Thanks for the help!

100 YEARS LATER...this is solved!
For the Note 8.0, in Daydream, you can find "startup settings" by touching the menu key. "Select Dream Time" will pop up and you can set it to daydream when docked, charging, or both.

[App] [Tasker] "Stay on" display issue : need help

Hi guys,
I'm using Tasker on my Galaxy Note 1, and I'm facing a huge issue :
I created a task for my car : when detecting my car's bluetooth, it must launch a few apps, and toggle "Display-Stay on" with AC or USB Power, so that my phone's screen stays switched on as long as it is plugged.
There's another task when leaving the car (ie car's bluetooth not detected) where I put "Stay on" to "never".
Seemed to work, but unfortunately I just noticed that now, my screen won't shut off anymore. I have to press the power button to switch it off.
What is surprising is 1) those tasks are not running anymore and 2) I went into the settings and tried to change to time to switch off the screen (set it to 30s) but didn't work...
Do you how can I put the setting back in order?
Here are the details :
- Samsung Galaxy Note 1
- Jelly Bean 4.1.2 LSZ stock, not rooted
Thanks a lot guys for your kind help!!!

There's a few things that could be wrong and without seeing EXACTLY how you set it up, I can't help.
BTW, you should ask this type of question in the tasker forums. It's in Google groups.

[Q] Can't get screen to stay on

I use my tablet as an alarm clock and it has always worked perfectly. After the last system update, though, I find that I can't get the sreen to stay on. I have the screen timeout set to 5 minutes, and I cannot override that. I went in to developer settings and set it so the screen stays on when it is plugged in, but that does not work. I tried using the system clock app and using night mode but that also shuts off after 5 minutes, even when plugged in. I tried turning on the screen saver to the clcok setting when it is plugged in but that still does not keep the screen on past 5 minutes.
Anyone have any other ideas for something I could try?
There are a bunch of apps and widgets that make it easy to switch between "normal screen off with delay" or "screen always on". Have you tried one of these ? Since your setting is blocked as you say, I'm not sure if the apps can override it, but you can try.
for instance No screen off (widget)
or Keep screen on (a background app that checks the device's inclination)

I use app Backlight Switch. It has options to show in notifications and has a widget. You can also create an app list that auto-toggles it.

Stay awake (in dev options) not working

Hey everybody, so I'm trying to get my phone to stay awake while charging (specifically for use in a car dock). The "stay awake" option was working for a while and all of a sudden it stopped working. My phone is rooted with only 1 xposed tweak installed (tweakbox) and lux. However, I have tried with and without and it still won't work..I'd like to keep my timeout to 30 seconds except while plugged in.
Recently I tried turning off dev options, reboot, turn on dev options, reboot, turn on stay awake, reboot - still, nothing. It refuses to stay awake while charging.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas beyond factory resetting...I hate using apps for this kind of thing, I'd rather stay with the system options but I guess if I can't get it to work I'd install some minimalist tweak or app.

Keep Screen On

Hello all,
Is there option, under Lollipop 5, to keep the Nexus 5 screen on indefinitely. I see the max in Display settings is 30 minutes. When I am in my car, using the navigation, its a pain to have the screen go to sleep. There used to be a way, using Xposed in 4.4, to do this. Wondering if anyone has found a way to do it in 5.
Thanks,
Steve

Question Always on display not working properly

So, since I updates to android 13 one ui 5.0 my always on display is not working as it should. I use the "tap to show" option, and it works fine the first time i touch my screen when it's off. But that's it. If i don't wake up the screen and touch it again after the screen goes black to see the AOD, it won't show.
I find it very useful to use at night, while sleeping, to see the time and not get blinded by the bright display.
I cleared the phone's cache after the update. Still not working as intended...
Do you use energy saving during day? I set a routine to activate it under 20%, so it deactivate aod, but when I charge it and goes over 20%, I have to enable aod again.
I'm having some issues too. I was using "tap to show", but recently it always come back to "always show" at the moment I lock my phone
