Just as the title states, they can't hear me but I can hear them. They can only hear me when I activate speakerphone. What is the problem here?
I'm gonna go way out on a limb here and say it's your microphone.

Before this happened did you have headphones in by any chance?

I'm looking into the same thing.
Tried safe mode, wiping and going back to factory, replacing the board with the microphone itself, doesn't work.
I followed some advice on here and installed ASR, a free sound recording app, and it recorded and played my voice back without a problem.
Try using headphones with an inbuilt mic, you could see if it's a headphone issue.

Anyone bought one before for use w/ the Eris? Looking to use this for audio to home stereo or car aux input but also not have to unplug it to use the phone. This way I can use it as hands free in the car. I've found this one for $10.99
http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=41130&cat=3811
and this one for $9.99
http://www.thinksamsungcaptivate.com/samsung-captivate-wired-headsets-10329.html
but it says it's for the Samsung Captivate.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Cool find. Exactly what I have been looking for. I haven't used it or known anyone that has, but I'm probably going to buy it just to try it out. I'll report back with findings unless someone beats me to it.
I personally use a standard line (no mic) keep the phone on my lap and am able to have conversations as if I am wearing a blue tooth headset. Although if this is for your car stereo you do have to take into consideration of the stereo volume cause the conversation can echo back to the person that you are talking to

For some reason that doesn't work for me. I tried it but have to unplug the cord to talk. I can hear them just fine but they can't hear me (no music on either) That's why I started looking for this. I wonder if it's a setting on the phone somewhere...

Assuming that you didnt hit the mute button on the phone, there may be other factors that are giving people on the other end problems hearing you.
a) is your phone rooted? if so, what rom are you using?
Check with the dev who created the rom. Could be possible that you have a older rom version. One of the last updates that VZW pushed out to the eris was for the "sound bug" If you are using a older rom, it could be a possibility that the update was not "cooked" in cause of the date of the ROM. You will see more DEVs stating in their ROM descriptions that is has the recent updates. Using one of thoser ROM may fix that.
b) if your phone is not rooted then is all the updates installed? You can check by doing the following
menu - settings - about phone - system updates
c) depending on where your phone is placed, (ie my lap), seat belts, clothes or some thign else is blocking the phones microphone.
d )slim chance but any chance that the people who can not hear you are only eris users them selves? If yes then see a) and b)
I just use the phone itself as the microphone and the audio routes over the stereo. But of course we don't have laws against talking on the phone here.
Wow, nobody posts in this particular forum. Well, I was just thinking about this type of product today, and seeing it on the forum, I had to buy it.

TazzFroyo. Haven't tried it since the last update though, so I will have to try it again...
Just got just Nexus S 4G today, and have experienced during all calls a staticy buzzing sound when the person in the other end is speaking. The best way to explain it is , it sounds as if there is gain on their voices are the louder points.
I so don't want to exchange, but curious if any One else has seen this.. or heard this.
I'm going to mess with voodoo sound tomorrow to see if it helps any. I'm rooted with netarch's kernel, but it was happening before this.
Thanks!

I'm on the European Version of the Nexus S - I9023 and I'm getting that too... I want to think that it's not the phone itself but I don't know... This buzzing only happens if the volume is over 50% and sometimes even at lower volume levels...
Does anybody know what this might be? Is it a software issue where, for example, the pitch on the calls is to loud and maybe te Voodoo sound would fix it, or is it definitely a hardware issue?

I spoke today with a guy that fixes phones for a living and he told me that the issue is the filter from the earpiece. The phone might've suffered a bump at the store when the people there handled it and that messed with the filter. He said that I can take it to the Samsung service to get it fixed or I can leave it like this... He said it doesn't get worst in time if the issue doesn't get resolved...
Hi,
Sometimes when I listen to music on my sensation with headphones the phone automatically starts calling numbers. Strange
Sometimes even when I shake it.
home screen is locked
Does anyone know why this happens. ?

Definitly not the issue cuz mine does the same with bluetooth and listening to music...not often but enough to make it annoying. Screen off then back on usually fixes it but wtf
It's the headphone plug that doing it. It can happen if it moves around in the jack
It's the phone. I had the same issue. To prove it, connect your headphones then tap on the jack a bit. U will see that it will start making calls. Turn the phone in and get a new one

Had a similar problem on my Nexus One until I got the 3-part headphone (the ones with the controls and mic) The phone was randomly skipping songs and putting itself on Party Shuffle.
On my Sensation, the problem occurs regardless. It's really frustrating, it once made 10 phone calls to a person before I realized what was going on.
You can try "call confirm" from the market. Then you will only get a popup instead of a direct call. Maybe together with "automateit" to enable and disable it automaticly if needed.
Return Phone
I had the same issue with mine and the wifeys... returned both units in and got new ones and it never happened again, called htc and they acknowledged it was a design defect on their end. No software fix for this issue......hope this helps.

There's a mod somewhere in the General Section (I think) that allows you to make the microphone more sensitive, and therefore your voice louder.

I had this problem too, but on another thread they found a solution, and it works great now.
The problem is that CM has build the mic sensitivity too low, this zip just turn the sensitivity up.
>i can't post the link because i have under 10 posts<
Find the "[FIXED] Microphone/Ok Google Low Sensitivity" thread and go to dirtydroidx post on 3. page, and find the zip there.
Just flash the zip, and i should work. All thanks goes to dirtydroidx who made this.

That won't work, the mods don't just trawl through threads searching for messages to them lol. To have a thread closed you need to report it. To have a thread stickied you need to contact a mod via PM and request it (it may or may not be stickied though, it's at their discretion).

Thank you for the reply. Making a note in a thread is a curtsey gesture IMO, so post's stay clean or on topic. Usually, when I make a note on a post, one of the mod's picks up on it within a few days. Also I already sent a request for a sticky. If their is anything else I missed please feel free to contact me via PM. Hope you're summer is going great.

Thank you, making this thread helped me find a solution. Why do you want to close it? Mic got fixed with Mahdi ROM too, it wasn't low, just 11s didn't allow it to work at all for some strange reason.

Hi,
Thanks for this thread as it lead me to a solution for the 'ok google' problem by replacing the mixer_paths.xml file.
However, i had another speakerphone mic issue that may or may not relate to the 'ok google' problem.
Everytime i made a video call, my friends is complaining he cant hear any voice from my side at all. So i get to test it with my other phone and found that it was the OnePlus One speakerphone / mic issue. Everytime a video call started (Google Hangout, LINE, etc), the speakerphone is always on by default as we get to speak and watching the phone at the same time.
However, at the call recipient's side, there is only a buzz sound and cant hear anything from the call. When i mute the OnePlus One mic, the buzz sound is gone. Unmute the mic and the buzz sound continue. (So the buzz sound is indeed an input received by the OnePlus One mic)
Next, i switched the speakerphone off to earpiece mode and the buzz sound is gone. (So the buzz sound was caused by speaker output?) And then the mic was actually working now (with the speakerphone off), the call recipient's side can hear the call conversation clearly.
It seem that the mic activated some noise cancellation processing or similar when it detected noise from the OnePlus One's speaker itself? Anyone have the same issue? I'm pretty sure its not the App issue as i tried a few different app and all are having this issue.

I have the same issue too, but luckily not as severe. There is definitely a lot of echo/buzzing sound on the other end of the call but if i'm very close to the One and i'm talking loudly they can hear me. Not very ideal, but it's working to some extent.
Search for BACON-549 on the JIRA, looks like the same issue.
Well. I have this issue since I bought the phone.
So, when using the microphone, either during calls or recording myself, the sound output is really low.
When on calls, people often complains about how low they're hearing me, and when I record myself and then listen to it, the sound is indeed really low.
I'm on Mahdi, using Franco Kernel (clean install).
Is there anyone suffering this or know any possible fix?
There's as fix for that. It's in this q&a section or the general section I believe.
