I give up! - Asus Transformer TF700

I give up!
I hate this b****y tablet! No matter what I have done, no matter what ROM I have tried (all off Darren's ROM:s and Aaron's CM11), this crappy tablet ends upp being unusable after a couple of weeks. This morning I spent HALF AN HOUR trying to fire up Angry Birds Go, but failed. It spent 15 minutes downloading some 50 MB. I was so angry I almost cracked the tablet against my knee. I don't know how you guys end up having a usable TF700, but I'm fed up. I'm going to buy a new one, and it will NOT be an Asus Transformer, I promise you that!
Arghh!!

I am sorry to hear that. Is it really that bad? It seems like your router may causing the slow download. Are you sure that you have tried everything? Maybe it is time to have a clean setup. Do you have data2sd with a good sd? Tweaks the hecks out of it to see any improvement and try a different combo or mix and match different roms and kernels to find a better fit for your device, good lucks...:fingers-crossed:

No, it's not the router. All other units connected to the same router has excellent transfer rates. And no, I haven't tried everything, such as rom2sd, but although I do like playing around with my devices and trying out different versions of Android, there is only so much patience with a problem that simply won't go away, no matter what I do.

Yes, it will take about 30mins to an hour... If you want, I can walk you through the process of changing the tcp. It is very easy and just a line of code in the init.d script...

The tablet is completely wiped and reinstalled with Zombi-X. Snappy as always after a reinstall (including wifi performance), but as usual I don't expect it to last long... *fingers crossed* (and Samsung Note Pro ordered )

I'm exactly where you are - it's become a bi-monthly ritual to wipe/reset my TF700 to increase the speed... but as soon as I have apps installed and need to run Google Play updates, it slows to a crawl. The kicker was trying to read an eBook last night, and it taking 10-15 seconds to turn a page.
I'm selling the tablet, dock, extra cables, cases... not sure what I'll replace it with yet, as I'm nervous about trusting the TF701.

its been the same story over here. i dont keep anything on this pos that a google play restore wont return after a wipe which is a monthly thing now. the last option for me is a class 10 sd and rom2sd. turns out the sd i have right now coulndnt cut it.

I would be interested in knowing more about it, because although my tf700t is running fine with KatKiss Lollipop and Grimmlock 5.0 I have from time to time problems with different browsers, they are lagging and choking and freezing tab sometimes. As the name tcp congestion control suggests, that might be of importance to me.

Are you using br2ram? It does speed things up on the browsers? I don't know what tcp that your kernel supports. However, you could add this line in any file under init.d folder with a reboot.
Code:
/system/xbin/sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_congestion_control=westwood
You can find the tcp_congestion_control that is supported by your kernel here: /system/xbin/sysctl
Good luck...:fingers-crossed:

Since I run KatKiss ROMs, which are outstanding, I have occasionally the Problem, that tablet freezes, when I have open many tabs in browser or/and I scroll very fast on one page. That is mostly very quick to solve by switching tab off and on, but it's nevertheless annoying. Might that be congestion related and what controller would you propose from the above advertised?
I tried your proposal and wait for results. Is the command permanent or do I have to refresh every reboot?
Command sysctl alone doesn't bring up any message.

Does KatKiss has br2ram? If it does, you may want to increase the buffer up a bit to support more tabs...
Yes, the command will be permanent after the first reboot. So you have to reboot your device the first time you added the command....
Base on the tcp list, I would try the westwood first, cubic, and the rest of your choices....Good luck....:fingers-crossed:

NEW Android ICS 5" Tablet/Portable console, the Droid X360

Found on Wololo's blog today, http://www.aliexpress.com/product-f...tendo-Sony-PS1-game-G-sensor-wholesalers.html
Its an tablet/gaming console for 110$ that has amazing specs and actual hardware gaming controlls, dual cameras and all of that android goodiness !
Sure its a chinese ripoff with design taken from the PS Vita and name taken from the XBox360
What do you guys think? I mean it's an android device with great specs for the prize and is made for portable gaming! I'm seriously considering skipping the nexus 7 and buying this instead (want the nexus 7 just because its a nexus device )
oh yeah. its even pre-rooted when you get it

Took the plunge. Just ordered. I'll let you know once it arrives.
sweet! be sure to report back on such as build quality and how well it went when ordering from aliexpress, when i bought something from there once it took about 2 weeks to get it :/
I ordered one as well, the ordering process was easy and they have really quick customer service. Now I just gotta wait for it to show up lol
I ordered mine from Willgoo and I highly recommend them. Excellent customer service and delivered to my door in 4 business days. As for the actual device, initial impressions aren't great. This video review from qbertaddict1 just about sums it up. However I'm still quietly confident that with a bit of work, this can be a great device. Working on figuring out whether the control issue is software, hardware or a combination of both. This things been on my desk in a million pieces all day. More to come...
Droid is a Verizon trademark. Just Saying
Sent from my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 4G LTE
I just received mine today (from http://www.wholesaleonepiece.com/dr...lwinner-a10-android-40-ics-8g-hdmi_p4536.html, shipped from China via DHL). this is actually kind of cool. Definitely KiRF - it even came preloaded with a number of ROMs for each of the emulators, which is cool. Also came with come pictures of some random Chinese guy who must have been testing the camera for QC purposes (front and rear cameras both work great). Emulators run pretty well.
are the reviews true that this is worthless for playing games because the controls don't work correctly?
Here's a 4-part review of the system by Wololo: http://wololo.net/2012/08/07/droid-x360-review/
I just got mine this morning. The controls seem to be working fine for me. The analog sticks are a bit stiff but its not that bad. Other than that there is nothing wrong with it.
My SanDisk Ultra 64GB MicroSDXC card works like a champ in my Droid X360. Video playback performance is surprisingly good, as are the stereo speakers. Some of my ABXY buttons rotated(!) after a lot of use, but it was fairly easy to tear it apart and fix.
I read the review by wololo and it seems to be a decent device and an exellent product for being a chinese knockoff and i bet that if more ppl start buying these, we'll see that a talented dev fixes most of the issues, as most of em were software related, atleast I got that impression from wololo
Video Review
Rest assured, a very untalented developer (myself lol) is on the case. I've been developing a script (eventually will be a rom) specifically for this device. Check out the video review here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6G4Ouq7Yj0
Anyone who's interested, the script currently lives here:

Just got mine and after spending a few days with the device i gotta say i do like it alot. its replaced my psp (selling) as my portable emulator machine but its definitely got its quirks. Some Emus i kept and some i replaced with market versions. HDMI works awesome! it won't recognize my wired 360 controller using the OTG cable adapter though. if we had a clockworkmod and could flash CM9 i think it would be a pretty solid device. Since they already have CM9 out for the Allwinner A10 CPUs would there be alot more work in porting it over to the DX360???
Crucible, is there anyway to backup my current rom setup now with livesuite?
I know you said (and i saw in the video) your DX360 runs perfectly at 1200mhz (600min), mine almost instantly reboots at anything over 1157mhz(600min), i've tried setCPU and no frills CPU. i've tried different governors and no dice. oh well no use crying over 53mhz just thought i'd let you know.
i obviously have zero developer skills but um i'm down to do whatever i can to help.

Unfortunatly, there is currently no way to use CWM on this device due to the fact that the physical controls are not mapped directly to use the menus within CWM. Yes there has been a lot of work done to port CM9 to Allwinner 10 however I would need to create a custom rom to flash with livesuit rather than the standard method of installing via CWM (for the reason stated above). It's something I plan to look into at some stage.

Best thing you could do then is try out my script and report back with any bugs. However be aware that you will need to wipe and restore your device as part of the process.
Hi Crucible,
thank you for your efforts!
I'm using your mod and found a strange thing.
In some games that use the accelerometer in landscape mode (Asfalt 5, Labirinth ) the axes are switched so that up is left, right is down and so on.
Before the superscript Asfalt was playing correctly if I remember well so I think there is something to be set to adjust the accelerometer.
Do you know how to fix this?

I have never used no frills cpu, but I would assume it works the same as setcpu in that it doesn't modify hardware, therefore after a hard reset or firmware flash, the device should revert back to normal. Are you sure you flashed firmware correctly?

[Q] After moving from stock to CROMI-X 5.4 it stil lags

Hi,
A few days ago I eventually got all the stars in the universe to align and I successfully upgraded from stock ROM (10.6.1.14.10) to CROMI-X 5.4.
However it didn't solve the lagging and that is the reason I wanted to move to CROMI-X. For example, tonight when I got fed up the lagging and I tried to reboot my TF700 it took nearly 10 minutes for the the tablet to shut down, however it came back up quick enough (but still lagging). A second attempt at shutting down took about a minute.
I didn't do a factoryreset\wipe before I upgraded so my question is, can I do a wipe in TWRP in the hope it will solve my problems or would you guys have a better solution? Please remember this is my first time putting a new ROM onto my tablet so my technical knowledge isn't great.
Many thanks.

Hmmm did you flash it straight over the top of Asus Stock?
You can do a full wipe and it will greatly help (shouldn't take 10 mins to shutdown - that is awful - mine tales 3 secs)
But before that let's work a few things out.
Reinstall therom again, make sure you wipe dalvik cache and cache in the options, chooe _that v8 kernel, disable fsync and enable the GPU options. Don't install any unecessary apps.
After a reboot leave it for 10 mins. Then go to the playstore and disbale auto updates.
Then go to settings, about - and hit the build number 7 times, this will enable developer settings, go into it (has now appeared in settings near the bottom) and scroll down until you see window animations, transition animations and something else animations and set them all to 0.5x
Finally reboot, and then report back.
Sdbags, first of all thanks for CROMI-X. I have a question tablet is running smooth like new but sometimes when is automatically updating apps from play store it's dramatically slows down. Is there any way to fix it or it just has to be this way. Otherwise tablet is flying.

Easy: Don't set the play store to auto-update apps. Do it when you don't need to use the tablet.

Some hardware issues can't be masked by software. The eMMC in the Transformer is slow, especially for random writes. Turning fsync off can hide that too most of the time, but at the expense of potential data loss in case of unexpected shutdowns or reboots.
On the other hand, I've recently updated a lot of apps and the tablet was slower but still responsive while it downloaded and installed the apps.

Yes the TF700 can't multitask well due to slow mmc. I can't fix that so I give more to the task needing it. So on CROMi-X whilst the play store is upgrading other apps are waiting.
You don't need play store auto updates - turn them off. It will still warn you in the notification area when you have an update and then you can do it when you are not so busy
Thanks guys. I thought there could be other way around it. yes I will probably disable auto updates because whenever I take it to do something quickly, tablet decides to update apps. Really annoying

I am recompiling the latest linaro toolchain to 4.9.1 with graphite and lto optimizations setting this time but the tf700 kernel is an ancient version. So I have to mix and match both old and new binary dependencies for it to work with this old source code. I need a tf700 to test it first to see if it is running better. If it is not working, I will send you the one that I am running now. Give me two days for testing and debugging and I will get back to you.

So far it looks like my tablet is back to working nice and fast If it stays working like this, I may no longer feel like doing an Irish Riverdance all over it.
My thanks to you sdbags for all your help and as you know I have already sent you a small token of my appreciation.

Nvidia shield tablet Power options help

Heya!
So i just got this Nvidia tablet with blisspop/lollipop or whatever it's called already installed.
Now i've been trying to read through some of the threads on this page but it honestly feels like im reading a different language.
I've noticed the Nvidia power options is gone from the tablet and since im lagging pretty bad often when playing games although not all the time, i'd like to fix this.
I thought the best option would be to increase my cpu usage, do you guys have any guides or tips for me on how i could do that?
Thanks in advance!
honestly, the kernel included in blisspop is plagued with odd behavior.. hangs, audio skips, and weird lag that comes and goes without reason...
some say it works fine for them, but myself and many others have had this issue... so, that is probably your problem.

I understand, is there anything i can install which works better? or am i stuck with the current "kernel" as it's called?
Sorry, i'm not familiar with the contents of blisspop and such.
you can try the official firmware, but if you bought the tablet with blisspop installed on it already... it is probably killswitched... so you need to follow the instructions here or risk breaking your tablet for good.

I'll check it out!
One last question; if i just use it regularly as i've been doing, will it actually just not work after some time?
Edit: i checked my serial number and it said "Next OTA: ST - yy (urgent)" so im guessing it's killswitched

yes, just be sure to remove the ota app as instructed in that post to ensure it won't get delivered.

I assumed the Killswitch is something that deactivates my tablet if i dont do anything to fix it, hence why i asked if it wouldn't work after a while if i didn't do anything about it.
I'll try to follow what the thread says. Thanks for the replies!
the killswitch could kill your tablet the instant it connects to the internet.
make sure you remove it BEFORE you do and you won't have any issues from that point on with anything.

Tablet having a plethora of issues

I'm beyond confused on what to do right now. The tablet is having problems left and right and Im just so confused, and no answers from Google are helping me.
Basically, I have three problems. First, the tablet cannot boot past the Nvidia logo. Second, the battery charges EXTREMELY SLOWLY. It took ten hours to get to 35%, and I fell asleep waiting for it to get one percent. And third, it discharges rapidly while on with the charger.
To note what I did, I installed TWRP, did numerous factory resets, and installed LineageOS. However, it just won't boot. Sp I am now here. Please help, I have no more options.
Why didn't you leave it on stock?

I can revert it to stock. Will that work?
It's best to not update the OS ever. As long as it works. Also, Google auto update should be deactivated. In general, updates are bad. They take storage and eat performance in 80% of the case.

Regardless, this means nothig for the battery. I've also never seen updates ruin a device. For example, updates actually saved my phone out of brick. If not for Cyanogen, this phone would've stayed bricked.
OEM updates usual ruin the performance. That's my experience.
I've tried numerous 7.1.2 custom Nougat roms and have recently gone back to stock 5.2 and have to say that the device works a lot better.

70% of statistics are made up.
After the 5.2 update, my K1 is running a bit smoother/faster than before. Particularly screen rotation, opening keyboard, opening apps & going back to home screen.
Battery life is as it was before the update.
One of the previous updates (5.1?) similarly improved performance a bit.

Experiences will vary. But that goes with just about any software change, be it an OEM update, custom ROM, kernel, etc. For every person that says the performance, battery, etc. is better; there will be another that says it's worse.
There are lots of variables in how you use the device, what apps, etc.

That is the placebo effect.
I can only speak for my own experience. Why fix something that isn't broken?
Oh yeah! Newer version number. And there must be something better about it then. Maybe more ads, or more data tracking.. who knows? Well, the devs know.^^

Security updates, for one thing.
As for ads and data tracking, you're making up problems that don't even exist.

So the device wasn't secure to begin with?
In essence, I could blame the OEM when I got hacked? Really?
Quite frankly, that's yet another excuse to make people more gullible. 1984 all the way..

Yes, the comments by this user are over-generalized, hyperbolic, and nonsensical. They add little value to this forum. Just sounds like a guy that had a bad experience once or twice, and now has an axe to grind with every update on every device. Ever.

What if you're using an Android tablet, nah... google doesn't track anything, does it?

Galaxy S6 - Can't do anything at all

I recently got myself a free Galaxy S6 in topaz blue 32GB version. It was missing a battery so I put one in and it surprisingly seemed to work, well until some stuff started showing on the screen.
Unfortunately, the phone seems it can't mount any partitions whatsoever. Upon booting I get various messages about not being to able open or mount partitions, which unfortunately means I can't access the recovery menu. Have tried installing many different original softwares from various carriers but nothing seems to work. One thing which I did get working is TWRP, I managed to install it via odin, but now all the different storages show up as 0MB, tried various tips from youtube but none seem to work. I can push files to it via ADB but none can install due to no partitions being able to be mounted. I can't even wipe any partitions via odin. I'm starting to suspect the device probably had the storage encrypted somehow.
I've given up all hopes now , can someone please help me? Is there even any help for my device?
First off you should never have even rooted this device. When u root a device it voids all warranty. Second have you tried buying a different battery.

To my knowledge, the device wasn't rooted as stated by the previous owner when I went to pick it up, and right now it is using a 1 year old battery so I don't think that's an issue.
Do you have a way to live stream the phone so I can walk you through a couple things.

Not too familiar with that but I've heard of it before. I'll have to make an account first but that's no big deal

Okay so I made an account and have set it up on my phone aswell, but I think my internet connection is either too slow or not stable enough because the stream keeps ending on me and freezing. I don't know how we could do this but would youtube do? Sorry I'm not good with these streaming things as I've never done it before lol
