I accidentally blocked notification of my gmail app in lollipop 5.0.1
Now I can't ger the notification back and I get no email notification
I long pressed the gmail notification and pressed the silent button as shown in image attached
Please help me unblock the notification for my gmail
Just follow the selections I screenshotted .
First you need to go into Settings and go into Sound & Notifications.
Now go into App Notifications
Scroll through your apps until you see GMail and open it.
Make sure both options are switched off for you, like mine.
Let me know if this worked or not.
Both are unticked but still no notifications from GMAIL...
Try this, open Gmail. Go into the navigation drawer and open Settings. From there select your account and see if the "notifications" option is enabled.
Once done, go back and go into "inbox sound & vibrate" and again make sure notifications is enabled. Once thats done, and if it still doesn't work. Go back into "inbox sound & vibrate and enable "notify for every message".
Let me know if this works.
No effect.
I guess its something related to the silent button highlighted in the image attached in the first post...that I accidentally used.
I figured it out...it was related to filter notifications
It can be removed from filter list in
Settings >privacy >filter notification
Done
Thnxx fr ur tym bdw

Does anyone know how to turn these off? I remember reading the advice on how to do this, and now I can't find it.
I get the audio notification, but then, I have to go and drag down on the toolbar to show notifications and then tap the one for the latest sms, even if I've already answered it.
I'd like to know how to NOT have toolbar (taskbar?) notifications trigger with every sms.
I think going into the app, menu, settings, notification settings, and checking "privacy mode" will get you what you want...
Hi..stupid question but i cannot seem to get my phone to vibrate whenever I receive a text or notification..can someone tell me where i can go to set this?
I tried going into settings, sound and display but i do not have vibrate as a selection in the notification ringtone tab.
Is there an app i can download that allows me to customize my sounds?
thanks!
the settings for notifications are within each messaging application. if you go to your sms application, hit the options button and go into settings. at the bottom you will find the notification settings, including vibrate and a ringtone selection. notifications for each of your messaging apps are configured this way.

Nothing you can do about that in android. Thats the default android vibrate for notifications. I think it sucks too, its way too short and too soft of a vibration.
What you can do is install SMS Popup. Go into settings on that app and enable notifications on it. It has more options for SMS notifications, like you can set a really long vibration. Just remember to then go into the Android messaging app and turn off notifications there, otherwise you'll get double notifications. This will only help fix the problem for SMS messages. I think android still sucks on incoming notifications for other items like emails, etc.
I REALLY like SMS Popup, its great.
whats the best custom setting. i am trying to set it so it virbates alot and i can feel it

I have never used Light Manager before, but the idea of different colored lights for different types of notifications sounds useful. I have tried to get it to work for the past 3 days, but I can't find a combination of options that will work.
Is anyone using it successfully who might let me know what their configuration is?
I appreciate your time.
Did you remember to turn on the LED in your phone settings? You go to Settings>Notifications>Tap the gear in the upper right. Make sure you turn that switch on.
When you first open light manager it will prompt you to allow notification access which can be found under your phone's settings>apps>little gear at the top right>special access>notification access. Make sure light manager is checked. (It asks you to set that up right when you first open light manager)
After that just it should start working. Go into light manager and start setting up your colors and stuff. You can test each notification you set up (just have to make sure to turn off your screen while the test is going on)

I just re-installed it and got the notification message, now it's working fine. I don't know how I missed it the first time through. Thanks!
I just gave this a go but ambient display kept coming on every few seconds for no reason.

This is a bug the developer is aware of. It only applies to "Alternating Mode". I switched back to normal and it stopped.

Oh ok awesome. I didn't try that mode but will give it another try with that mode enabled.
I also had some issues with LF. My gmail functioned as it should, but I could not use sms or other apps. The developer told me how he got things to function properly. I have had no issues sense. Here is what you need to do. Just change out the app you want for notifications.
I'd recommend the following.
1. remove the contact specific notification you have set up and the standard text message notification.
2. get a text message from the contact you want specific notifications for and don't yet read it.
3. go into lightflow, notification settings and press "+" and select from all installed apps and select messenger.
4. Press "+" again and select from an outstanding notification and select the unread text message and select it and click add.
5. Find this notification and click on it (then press the pencil icon in the title to give it a meaningful name)
6. Enable the "notification person matches..." switch
7. Finally in notification settings click on the 3 lines with an arrow button at the top and drag the contact specific notification above the default messenger notification.
This is the setup I use on my 5x and 6p and pixel. It also allows you to do similar for pretty much any app or for example switch when a particular word is in a notification so it's quite customisable.
Cheers
Andrew

This isn't about lightflow. This is about light manager.
lol sorry!!!
Hey Guys,
i bought the Honor some days ago and overall im very happy with this nice piece of hardware.
The only downside is EMUI...
This piece of Software is very "special", so i dont know if it is a real problem or if somethings wrong with the setting.
I receive some Notifications like whatsapp and some like Email not. why? i dont know!
When i open for example the email app and refresh, i get the notification. In the settings i enabled all notifications for all apps
and exclude every needed app to be killed when in backround or when in standby.I really went through every single option.
My second problem is that my phone dont vibrate. Not when someone calls and not when i receive a notification! i dont even see
a option, where i can set vibration on or off.
I hope u can help me with that, becaus thats some functions i want and need in my everyday use....
Apps need to be given permissions to show notifications. Go Settings -> Notification panel and status bar -> Notification center and whitelist the ones you want to see.
For vibrate: Settings -> Sound -> Vibrate when ringing and Vibrate in silent mode (if you want that).
It's weird to get everything set up, and not really explained anywhere that I know of, but seems to really help with battery life.
I managed to get my notifications now. I whitelisted the apps, gave them permission and excluded them from being killed. Then i gave the special one vip status. But i dont have or dont see the option for vibrate. I installed a 3rd party app to enable vibration for notifications.... Thats realy weird...But thanks for ur tipps...
i hope version 5 with nougat is coming soon....

What settings did help with battery life?
Just having a few things white listed instead of any app that feels like guzzling battery doing so.
