Everytime I try to flash a Sense custom rom I get stuck on the HTC logo screen. No matter what sense Rom it is. I can flash any other custom rom though. I am not on the latest firmware so I don't know if that is the issue.
I want to go back to stock. Can anyone help me out?

You definitely want to be on the latest firmware.

custom rom installed on my device ... To return to Roman stock, stock rom before you install it necessary to go back recowery.? loading custom roms recoweryde stock? How?thks...
If you backed up your stock rom with your custom recovery then you can restore it as long as you have the correct firmware installed (gb vs. ics).
If you did not back up your stock rom then you can flash it via a PG58IMG and keep your custom recovery.
Heck, mike1986 even made stock ics flashables for custom recoveries...
You NEED a stock recovery and stock rom to perform OTA's...
I'm going to piggy back on this thread. Anyone have the stock recoveries available? I'm going to sell this phone soon and I know if I sell it with a custom recovery it's going to be a headache for someone.

I know it sounds silly but I've had a similar problem in the past but it was all because I forgot to format the Partitions, dalvik cache from the recovery menu etc. Maybe try that if you haven't already. Hope it helps

Most of the time yes you will have to install the boot .img manually coming from a different base or Rom... But say if you're on viper and your back up is the same base sense Rom you probably wouldn't have to reflash it... But if coming from cm10 or anything else yes

Be safe and flash it
Is it necessary to reflash rom before restore or can you just fastboot flash boot.IMG and just restore backup?
Sent from my One X using xda premium
I believe you have to flash boot. IMG and than restore according to the comments up there
I just wish we had to option to downgrade the software/hboot without going thru all those steps listed, I remeber i had the htc inspire and you will be able to downgrade hboot by choosing a downgraded version of Ruuu files.

My HOX was running stock rooted ICS and I did a TWRP backup and flashed [ROM ][22 MAR][UrDroid][HTC One X AT&T][Stock][JB][OTA][Odexed] EVITA 3.18.502.6 using the AROMA installer which had a kernel included. Now I am trying to restore the backup, while the process shows as successful, the phone does not pass the HTC screen, it goes black where the AT&T logo is supposed to come in.
I have to reflash the JB rom to get the phone working again. However, this rom is not stable, I keep getting random crashes or reboots, so I wish to revert to stock
Any idea why this is happening and how I can fix it?
Thanks in advance.

What hboot do you have? If you have hboot 1.14 or newer and are not s-off, you'll need to pull the kernel from the ICS rom and flash it via fastboot.
Great! I just need to track down the stock ICS kernel because I think my phone came with version 2.20.
Any idea where I can locate it?
Thanks.

Custom ROMs -> Stock Rooted (Odexed/De-Odexed)
Grab any of the ICS ones and it should do the trick. If your TWRP backup backed up boot, you should also be able to pull it from the backup (\sdcard\TWRP\backups\etc.), but I've never done this before and don't have a backup handy on my phone, so I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly where you'd need to look to find it. Shouldn't be too complicated though if you poke around?

not sure what you mean with your last sentence... but:
in my case the ota deleted my root. but I also recommend to do a factory reset after updating to 4.1 sense 4+, just to be sure that you have a clean jb rom (do titanium backups of your apps you wanna keep).
but you have to be on stock recovery if you want to apply the ota.
after your update you can root your phone again.
applying the ota wont have any effect on flashing a higher / newer custom rom.
you only have to be unlocked and on custom recovery. but you alawys have to flash the boot.img of the custom rom after flashing the custom rom zip.

the rom you want to flash doesnt care about your previous rom, because you wiped your previous rom.
so it really doesnt matter which rom you have before if you want to flash a new rom.
its like.. you have installed windows xp, then format your hdd and install windows 7, windows 7 doesnt take a --- about the old os
recovery and rom are two different parts.
you can stock recovery and custom rom, you can have custom recovery and custom rom, you can have stock recovery and stock rom.. blaaa
