I use these apps very often and I was wondering if they are illegal heres the list,
1. lucky patcher
2. Movie Box
3. Popcorn time
4. XBMC
5. Modded Google play store
Notice I received an email from Buckeye express saying that I watched in illegal movie, which came from the app popcorn time. But they mentioned nothing from the app movie box.

Modded Google play store? XBMC isn't... Not sure about these movie things.. Chances are if they're not in the playstore there is a good reason.

Modded google play store came from the app lucky patcher, it pretty much adds some features and disables google store self update.

Well, technically, everything's legal until you get caught, but I'd imagine the play store is illegal
We call it warez.... Not allowed on XDA. What you do in your own time is your business.

I always say lean on the side of caution: If something that normally requires purchase (or a subscription) is offered free and the source is relatively unknown: 1) the most preferable is to avoid it or 2) if you decide you want to keep it, don't discuss it (especially NOT in written form).
To correct pretty much everybody replying to OP:
Just having these apps on your device is not illegal. Some of them can do things that violate some coproration's ToC– still not illegal. There are actions with some of these app that are illegal, like popcorn time.
Tnx for the clear up

I wish I could get these free apps. Why's it limited to U.S?
They are working with the devs of the apps to advertise them for a short while to increase traffic. Once that time frame is up more ppl will know about the app and can then generate more revenue for the developers.

From what i heard they still give the dev 20% of the cost of the app for every free app. i.e. a $.99 goes free amazon gives dev $.20ish. so the dev's still get a little bit
Are the apps they give away decent or upgradable through the market?
So far I got doodle jump free , shazan encore(4.99) free, dinner dash free , .farm frenzy for free. Not bad. They free and this are good apps .

These apps require you to keep the Amazon app store installed on your device. If you remove Amazon app store the apps you downloaded will no longer work.
I do not know about paid apps but the free ones that are showcased daily will not work if you remove the Amazon app store.
Do you have to put a credit card number to even download a app????

yea you do or u can use amazon giftcard
you must first setup an amazon account using a credit card or paypal. when you install the amazon android store app, it syncs with your amazon account, so you don't store your credit card # or paypal info on your phone

In case anyone wants to keep track, I put a copy of all the free apps here:

What would happen to the apps if you were to wipe with a ROM change?
Use Titanium backup and restore back.

Oh snap, I did not know that. Good thing I read this before I wiped my phone without any worry of losing anything. I'll have to do a Backup now. Thanks!
your apps are updateable, for free. lol. and since your account is set up with your amazon acct you can wipe and change roms a million times, as soon as you put the app store back on your phone and sign in with your account you can redownload your apps back again, still free.
Hello everyone this is really legal and supports the developer not cracking apps and steeling developers effort.please dont misunderstand this.
firstly go your browser and type getjar.com and download its own app from here.
Open the app you install and from the app go to the "gold apps" cathegory and download what you want it is really free and legal

There's no legal way for getting paid apps for free. The only legal way is to pay for it. Better remove the link buddy because it just leads to a warez site.

Yea exactly. There's no such thing. Warez are not allowed here unless the apk is made by an xda member and posts the paid version free exlcusively for xda members.

It's legal, it's just another market. Most of the apps you can find there for free are free on the Android Market too.
They give some apps for free which normally you pay for, but I think it's a way to get more users and that they pay those apps for you or something like that.
It is really legal this site I mean getjar is dealing with the developers and share their apps for if you don't believe me just visit the site. I know payment is the best way but this the other way and I believe that it legal you can check the wheter they are cracked or not.
Thanks you all to warn me...

If you have a rooted phone you can install lucky patcher dont install it from google play store install it from onhax i would have provided you the link if i had permission. Then install modded playstore (also from onhax) i would recommend you that you backup your real playstore with titanium backup before installing because it will replace your playstore. After that open lucky patcher and locate the option patch to android then you will get free apps dont think you will not need to pay on googleplaystore you will have to download free apks of paid apps this method only skips the verification off app payment. I have tried this thing myself its works pretty well
p.s hit thanks

1) There's a rule you're breaking by mentioning this on xda.
2) There's no benefit for the xda community that you want to circumvent DRM protection.

1) No problem, my response is a lot nicer than how the mods will respond to this inquiry.
2) There are a few games (really game developers) that have started instituting mandatory Internet connection in order to actually play their games. EA Sports, Gameloft, and I'm sure a few others do this to cut down on piracy. It verifies the license online then let's you play.

1.Thanx for being so nice
2.Well i read on this forum that this game works fine on other phones and tablets and noone mentioned this license check issue so that is why i asked
Yeah the forum mods are very very strict on this sort of thing. I got a warning once for simply mentioning "alternative" ways to download something. So I don't think you'll get much help here.
And the other guy is right, a lot of game makers, and developers in general, are requiring their apps to check and make sure the app is genuine or whatever, they want to make sure you paid for it.
What does it take to be successful in the Google Play store? I've been developing for over a year now... I've only been able to make about $10 a month, if that... What am I doing wrong, or not doing? How do I get my apps seen?... Also, scan my profile pic, to see a list of my apps

In my opinion to be successful in any of the major app markets such as the play store and app store. You have to be able to create something that people didn't know they needed. Something that is new and innovative ad that has never been done before. Also if it is a game it is an good idea to make it as addicting as possible.

In short, app failed because no one know it, no one like it, no one use it.
At first, should not follow the money, but your product. If you want to win, you and your product must be different (unique is even better)
Second, marketing. I think you already googled for the tips. But read them again. It may help.
Popular game taken down from Google play, I manage to have it on my phone has my partner plays the game. So i backed it up and sharing it to who ever still wants to play it :sly:

I just read up on it, and it seems like removing the app is just going to get it talked about more.
There are plenty of people who have the .apk, as well as people who have modified it, and patched it, etc. If there is a way he is collecting revenue off it this would have been a very successful marketing move. However, the app wasn't a paid app, and even though people may be searching "flappy bird" more, I'm kind of curious how he's actually making money off it since the top Google searches are not likely his own website/ad revenue.

He makes money probably because of the ads in the app like most free games are run by some kind of one click advertising that's why some apps charge to remove it
