Does anyone know a place to get spare parts for the XDA II (not likely) or does someone have a broken XDA II they are selling parts off of?
I somehow managed to crack part of the casing of my I-mate around my power switch. Well tonight it finally broke off and I am devistated. (ok well.. pretty upset at least)
If anyone has a spare... I am looking for a replacement black piece (antenna cover) of the casing. Would pay generously for one.
I'm looking for a spare casing...
Last friday I dropped my MDA2 and the case now has a small dent near the Bluetooth LED and a small scratch on the opposite corner and I want to replace it as soon as possible!
Anybody knows where to get replacements?
Is the case metal or plastic?
Thanks in advance...
Rayan
I may have XDA 2 Spares!
I am currently battling to get my XDA 2 repaired under warranty by o2 in the UK..
If i lose: I will have an xda 2 worth of parts (minus the mainboard) less than six months old immaculate apart from the board and its connector.
so case is scratch free, screens perfect etc...
Failing that if anyone has an busted xda 2 with a working mainboard please mail me...
parts
Matt,
How did you get on with O2, I'm looking to get all the parts except the main board as I've got one of them.

I lost! No repair, no warranty, 6 weeks and no service!
I have come up with another solution for my broken xda connector.
The device still functions but i cant connect to my laptop/docking station, so im going to buy a bluetooth card and spare batt, keep the spare batt on charge using the docking station and use bluetooth to sync with laptop...
spare batt = £15
bluetooth card = £20
my total = 35
O2's = £185 a mear £20 cheaper than a brand new XDAII !!!
AND THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME £17.50 to send the bloody thing back without having lifted a finger to repair the device! Until i went ballistic in the store in front of a dozen customers, and i do mean ballistic a bit digruntled wont work you have to loose it in front of as many customers as possible to force them to back down and return your property.
I will never buy new from O2 again, and as soon as the contract hits 12 months they are history bollox to them. The warranty is not worth the paper its written on, the shop service is less than i would expect from cowboys r us, save yourselves time and pain buy second hand theres still no warranty but its cheaper by far..
p.s. for those who are bound to ask, No mention of any charges including postage are/were made at the point of handing my phone over or at any time until 17.50 was demanded for its return.
@ Matt Ryan
my XDA 2 connector snapped from the pbc
ill tell you how to fix.....
get hold of an ipaq 38xx or 39xx, SPV 1, or spv2 or xda 1 or xda2 board and desolder the connector off and put a new one on
i got hold of a spv1 for less then £30 and ive stripped the board and sending it to my mate who deals in small eloctronics reapir hes charging me £15 to hot air rework the connector off the spv and put it onto the XDA2 pbc
meaning all repaired and stronger then before
gaz
did you not sign an a-novo repair sheet. It states clearly on the reverse side of this that is your device is beyond economical repair, or if you refuse a quote, you will be charge £17.50.
nope i didnt sign a-novo contract/ job sheet
I took the phone to an o2 shop and signed THIER repair sheet, nothing on reverse nothing refering to charge for returning device if not repaired
Nothing anywhere, nada...

Hey guys.. I droped my touch pro about a week ago onto concrete and need a few replacement parts.. I haven't dropped a phone for years when I have had much cheaper phones and now I get a decent one this happens!
The phone actually still works 100% but is in a horrible state.. the digitzer has smashed but somehow still works, theres a key missing from the keyboard and the case is a bit munted, I will attach photos if I can.
I called 3 places in australia;
#1 HTC direct who said send it to us for a quote and we may be able to fix it ($38.50 for the quote and $11 to courier it back)
#2 A htc approved repair centre who said $170 for the screen and $110 for the keyboard.. I got into an argument with their receptionist saying the lcd is fine I just need the digitzer but she was adament they are one and the same.
#3 The vendor where I got the phone, who said their repair centre could fix it but I would have to send it to there for a quote ($35 for quote and $15 postage back)
So from what I can see I'm looking at around $300 from one place or pay $50 to another place for just the quote and they may not come back any cheaper..
I am confident enough to pull the phone apart and repair it myself.. don't have much to lose.. (I actually replaced the phone with a touch HD the next day.. sort of like drown your sorrows by replacing it with something better) As the touch pro wouldn't turn on and I figured it was completely dead..
On closer inspection a few days later I found the battery terminals had bent and wern't contacting, I bent them back and it turns on and works now)
I just want to replace the broken parts because it's a horrible mess!
I found a store on ebay selling the digitzer for $60 which is around what I would expect to pay, waiting to hear back from them if they can source a keyboard and the internal case parts, I thought someone on here might know where I can source these parts outside of Australia?
pics are below.. hope they work (warning: not for those with a weak stomach! )

It would be easier to just buy the lcd with digitizer already installed
http://mobile.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=03799&dept_id=039&cat_id=1149
US$88.00
Here's the complete housing with keyboard.

US$85.00
Thanks, you're a lifesaver! the only trouble is that keyboard is different to mine I think the keys would probably all line up and work but you would have to know which one was which (the symbols and punctuation ones would be hard) if I can't get the right one I'll probably order from there but if anyone knows where I can get the correct keyboard that'd be even better
Happy to help
Let me see if I can find you the touch pro keypad.

If you were here I would hug you, I have no idea how you found that so fast, maybe I was looking in the wrong places (scouring ebay and google australia) but I've been looking for hours! can now order all the parts I need to turn it into a brand new phone
Out of interest, when you say it's easier to get the screen with the digitzer already installed, is there a reason for that? I see digitizers advertised everywhere seperately, and thought they were an entirely seperate part to the LCD, or are they connected via a bunch of fragile edge connectors? I'm happy to pay the extra $44 to get the lcd / digitzer combo if theres a risk of screwing up seperating them but if it's not a hugely risks job then I wouldn't mind saving the cash..
Thanks so much d3th metal
Hey mate, i got a big f'ing scratch down my brand new fuze. Would love to know how this goes, if you get the digitizer or full screen. As im going to try and polish it out, but i dont hold much hope. So i think this is going to be the only way.
Don't know if this is a case of too little too late information, but i tried to replace the digitizer only on my touch pro because i had some major scratches on the screen. I've taken a part a number of phones in the past and I work with electronics for a living, and for the life of me I have no idea how anyone could separate the LCD from the touchscreen. I ended up cracking the LCD glass and breaking one of the itty-bitty flat cable connectors. My recommendation to anyone contemplating this is to just pay the additional cash to get the LCD and digitizer together. I tried to save $40 and now my phone is in a zillion parts in a plastic bin waiting for the new screen to get here

Yeh the way to do it is to use a razor blade. It will definitely take some time though and a lot of patients.
This would be awesome for a sticky. It would provide anyone who needs help with getting parts for their touchpro/raphael/fuze if they decide they need it.

Hi all,
Due to a bad drop off the 2nd. floor balcony to the street under, my i9003's display got cracked. Everything except the display (blank, black) was working fine, I could hear it ring when someone called.
I visited the authorized sammy service centre nearby and they inspected the phone. The entire display part (which has a pcb stuck to it and non-removable) needed to be replaced. All other things including the mainboard and back casing were ok.
They gave an estimate of Rs.7000 (US$ 140). Today I called and they said, your device is ready, total bill would be Rs.7000+4% VAT=Rs.7280
I wonder it is the exact price they gave estimate for... something fishy? Any inputs if I am being overcharged? Did anyone here go with a display change before?
TIA
On physical there is no warranty. U have to pay to them.

Yes, I'm fully aware of it. My question is: are they charging right for the replaced part and labour charges?

I went to Barrackpore...closest to me. I rarely go to the hustling and bustling proper Kolkata... it's tiring!
@Anyone: If you have contacts with a sammy service center (or even an employee), kindly confirm the cost of the display part.
Tatz strange I had my display replaced freely only a month back following the phone falling onto the tiles! But the display was working, ABCs the touch was not! I told them since morning it's like this and they changed it in an hour while I was in India for Diwali! luckily this happened while I was there.

I guess that's because you do not have physical evidence of damage, still the OP got charged 140USD is pretty steep >_<. I guess I should not drop the phone.
Sounds about right for official service. In Malaysia a cracked display + glass will incur about RM350, do the maths.
They are charging right , offcourse it is more amount to pay if you compare to local market. In DELHI if you went to GAFAR market(India largest mobile market) then you will get your display from 1.5k to 4.5k depending upon build quality.
Just check local market first if you didn't paid.

I think you would get it done within 4.5-5K in Bangalore. The AMOLED screen WITH some lights costed 7K for a friend of mine in Bangalore...Only screen should obviously be nearly 4.5 - 5K ...That's it~! Not more
Well, they said that the entire LCD Assy needed to be replaced as it comes in a sealed monoblock part which houses the top cover, gorilla glass, touch buttons, the lcd, sensors like proximity, light and front cam all on a pcb stuck to the lcd. In fact if you imagine total front part including the metallic rim, that is all the LCD assy holds.
The back cover, main assembly and mother board were OK.
I dug up a service manual and confirmed the part number: QFR01 (GH97-11829A)
Thanks everyone for your inputs... I guess there is no scope of saying anything to the service center guys as they have already completed the repairing... But still, I'll bluff them about friends getting that done for 5.5k! LOL

Update: Finally received it from the service center. Looks spanky new! Seems they replaced the main body frame too. Billed me Rs.7200. The senior tech wasn't there then and could not talk for a discount...
Came home, fired kies and updated to official GB I've been waiting for!
Guys, suggest you take care about not cracking the display... it really makes a hole in the wallet...

I guess you missed the opportunity to upgrade you device. I guess paying 7.5K for the device is waste becuase you can not resell the device with atleast a little profit. My advice is dont change. But a new phone like galaxy nexus from US (15 to 17K)

Display problem
I sleep with my phone besides me....I might have rolled over it in sleep real bad today and in the morning I see the display showing red strips in bright areas of the screen...Eg.Google search bar, Keypad, etc...
I asked at a phone repair shop it costs 4.5k(Samsung original) wheras Samsung service center quoted a price of 6950Rs somthing...
Can anyone judge what the problem might be...Do i need to get a new display panel....?
please HELP!
I have tried to take snap shots of the Screen...Attached
u r being charged too much i got my screen fixed in rs 5600 from the service center
i had the same problem
I just found out today that the problem comes n goes away...the display becoms normal for a while n then again goes back to being patchy red....
Hi guys,
My htc fell in water, but I have dried it up. Now when I press the power key, the screen does not turn on. Then, when I press it again to supposedly off the screen, the screen turns on and off in 1second. So I can catch a glimpse of the lockscreen. So I was wondering, does anyone know why this is happening?
Is this a problem I can fix myself or should I bring it to a repair shop?
Any recommendation on a repair shop besides HTC. HTC did not even bother to look at my phone, they just saw the water indicator and said it would be $300-$500, which in fact, I know that it would not be that much.
So if anyone could help me, thanks.
I'll upload a youtube video so you guys can get a better understanding.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBVeprvekgY
Had the same accident on my wifes last Nokia, couldnt repair it myself and brought it to a repair shop. They told me to throw it away because the water sensor inside the phone reported the accident audn a repair would be as expensive a an equal ne phone. sorry mate, dont hope too much ...
I guess I shall just get a new phone, like an evo 3d or something. Thanks anyway
Or they can replace the parts that's been damaged. But i'm not sure if the repair costs more than buying a new phone.
I believes LCD internal circuit detect short and turns of lcd to prevent damage.
LCD may still have water inside or main board may have been damaged.
It is impossible to guess so repair tech must use parts from good phone and swap one by one to bad phone until bad part is found.
Most repair shop will not have ability to do this so they will charge minimum $200 ( average cost for them to buy phone) or they will assume LCD is defective and quote about $150. ( their charge for LCD replacement)
HTC just charges you phone refurb charge ( for customer not their cost)
I recommend sell on eBay for $150 and buy new(used phone) on Craigslist($200-$250).
I assume since you are asking this question you don't do many or any repair...if this is true...I highly suggest you keep it that way to prevent accidental and uneccesary damage
PM me and I can assist with repair/replacement

I was kinda hoping to fix it, but I guess I should go to HTC and ask them for an exact amount of price needed to fix this phone.
I doubt there's anymore water in the phone cause I have dried it for 3days in rice and even hair dryed it.
My device recently survived quite the impact, the screen got shattered, top right edge got deformed a little and then the ON/screenlock button stopped working the next day, but otherwise the phone was fully functional. So I sent it back to LG for repairs and the next week I get it back in the same condition, with a note saying it's not repairable/board cracked. I called them up, and got an image of the motherboard showing no cracks whatsoever, yet they still didn't want to re evaluate their conclusion when I created a new RA. When I got the phone back the battery was dead and even though I charge it I cant turn it on, until the button is replaced. LG suggested I contact Google for repairs, Google said I should contact LG. These people are helpless, they don't know anything. I could do the repairs myself, but I can find all the required parts online. Can I get some suggestions on my next step?
"Thank you for contacting LG Customer Service.
We are sorry to hear about the problem you are experiencing with your LG device, however, your phone has already been inspected by our technitians at our repair facility and, unfortunately it has been determined that it is not repairable.
We recommend you contact your carrier for any replacement possibnility."
not much to do but to repair it yourself if you want then, or maybe look for one on swappa?
for parts http://www.etradesupply.com/lg/android-models/lg-nexus-5.html or ebay
btw it looks like you need this http://www.etradesupply.com/lg-nexus-5-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly-with-frame.html
Screen and battery are no problem, i could replace them any day. The power button (blue circle in the pic) doesn't work, if that's the issue, I would need to replace it, but I can't find any replacements. I actually spotted a tiny crack on the board (red circles). Ugh. Would i have to replace the whole thing?
Maybe its best to sell it for parts and buy a new one, that phone looks allmost like a total-loss. Maybe some of the internals are damaged also and total repair would be too expensive.

I have issues with the power button too because mine get stuck lot of times and it's verry annoying. I've contacted LG service center but they said that because it is soldered to the mainboard the only option to repair is to change to mainboard. I'm shocked . I haven't got warranty here because I bought it on Play Store in Canada and I'm living in Europe.
Btw I've started to research this issue and the parts and it seems these switches are the same as Samsung uses in their new galaxy phones. There are tons of pieces on ebay from it. But changing it is hard. You need a good heat gun which is able to point the heat to a small area and you have to heat the switch only. If you heat any other parts, then you phone is dead...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0xMMn1DRWs
But I'm not hundred percent sure that these are good switches for us, they just look the same :/

I've done the repair on a Galaxy S3 using the part from Ebay. Let me tell you now that it is a pain in the ass if you don't have good micro-soldering skills. I don't, lol, but my father does and he got it done for me. Be warned, you will mess up the board if you don't know what you're doing, but it can be done. Maybe find someone local who can do the swap for you.
buy a new one, cause this one is a dissaster! keep it for repairing parts...
