Horrible Battery Life |-( (attached BBS log/SOT/+Screenshots) - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am sorry but.. after all the methods to save battery and even doing the fix in @timmaaa's thread about play services. Attached is what I am getting. Phone is new, but its been two cycles. Its stock CM11s, what it came with, it is rooted. No custom kernels. The brightness has been on auto mostly and when not thee, its at minimum. Cause auto at night is a bit bright.
I was expecting Galaxy Note like performance with that battery but this is worse than my 2yr old Galaxy S4

Hmm, I don't know about Lollipop, but I got awesome battery stats on KitKat though, normally will lasts me 20 hours+ with 4.5-5 hours SOT.

Oh sorry, you used a theme. By the way did you tried Greenify? I hibernated many apps, just leaving essential apps for it to run only, such as keyboard and launcher. All other like Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp etc are hibernated.

Yup, have greenify with the donate addon. :/

Maybe you should try clean flash again. Emm maybe.

You should try to flash custom ROMs, I actually had the same issue you're facing with stock 11s.
Now i'm using SlimKat and the battery life is way better. Maybe you can try other custom ROMs such as PA 4.5 Stable, Mahdi ROM.

Not another one of these threads!!!
P.S. : The OP might wanna change the topic to THESE days instead of THOSE days. In those days, we didn't have ICS.
Cm9 is the best I think.
Hi. After trying MIUI v4 ICS for a while and facing several wifi/network/stability related issues, I recently installed CM9 Alpha ICS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429215
So far its been great, thankfully. Seems very stable. Most, if not all, features (h/w and s/w) work well. The only issue I've noticed is less stellar battery life in normal usage than my last rom (Reaper v2.2). But nothing that would make me give this Rom up as of now. It's awesome work by the devs most especially Nexx!
Will update if I run into any trouble

To update, the battery life is taking quite a hit sadly. I love ICS and this ROM but the battery drain is quite excessive. I have CPU governor set to conservative, brightness at 1/4 and only data syncs set to push were email and whatsapp. Wifi is on always. After full charge I left the phone to sleep while I went to bed, received 2 emails during the night. 6 hours later I turned the phone on and battery was at 89%. After 2 hours of messaging via SMS and whatsapp and some browsing on chrome the battery is at 50%. Maybe someone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong, as otherwise this ROM is awesome and I would love to keep it.
The only other issue had been a system freeze once but that was under some heavy flash load when browsing, not a big deal.
Maybe time to try Endymion or revert to reaper for now.

[Q] Stock + GB or ROM?

Hi guys,
Thanks for all your help so far! Love this forum.
I'm pretty noob when it comes to Android customization, so I wanted your opinion: I'm trying to decide whether to run a stable, fast ROM, or simply stock with GravityBox and Franco Kernel.
Here are my considerations:
I'm not an advanced user, but I do use my phone a lot for work and personal things like email, browser, gps, videos, etc. Since I rely on it a lot, stability is pretty key. However, I get really bothered by some UI restrictions on stock (in particular non-customizable Quick Settings, non-customizable status/nav bars, and no PIE, but other small things count too). GravityBox is sufficient for the customization I need, but at this point speed and battery life come into consideration also. I wouldn't mind a longer battery since I use the phone pretty heavily. Speed is a consideration in that it would help me get things done faster.
So I guess my dilemma is whether I should use stock while relying on GB for customization and Franco kernel for battery efficiency, or if I should run a stable, fast ROM like SlimKat for the same purposes?
Xposed will slow things down so IMHO if a ROM has all your needs, use that.
That said I use a ROM and xposed

Yep, SlimKat, If stock Slim is missing a feature, about 50 people in that thread build their own Slim with some mods. One guy builds a version that has a DL/UL speed indication, L-style navbar buttons, and a bunch of other things.
Kernel, use Code_Blue. I prefer it over Franco. Just don't use the stock Slim kernel.

I'll add my usual comment..... Lol
Roms have near nothing to do with battery life. It's setup and usage that make or break battery life.
Don't factor battery life into Rom decisions.... They're all the same. ?

The only way a ROM can really affect battery is if a feature is designed poorly or there's a derp in the build..
But yeah, you can't really improve "ROM battery life", you can only make sure there aren't any problems which affect it negatively.

Really? I have the stock ROM and xposed with six different modules and I haven't noticed a substantial performance difference. Perhaps it's one of the modules you have installed or maybe xposed doesn't play as well with your ROM as it does with stock?

And thanks for the help guys. I flashed SlimKat for now and am so far pretty happy with it.

Might not be noticeable, or it might be obvious, it's still always going to slow it down overall. Different experience between different people.

I've used every Rom and kernel almost and after setting each up how I regularly do, and with similar usage patterns always....my battery times were always similar.
I never play with the clock speeds I should add......but that's my experience. The roms or kernels I used made no real difference to my battery life.
?
Yes I've seen lots of "claims"....And guess what, many believe them. ?

Which custom rom has better battery life than stock in google pixel

I have a 1 year old pixel 128gb.
I am getting terrible battery life of 3 hrs SOT on stock rom (unrooted). I know battery life subjective to how we use the phone. But i dont play games or any heavy work. Very less usage of phone.
Please advise me a custom ROM which has better battery life like atleast 4 -4.5 hrs SOT. Or else tell me that whether all pixel ROMs have same battery life.
Are you in LTE, or 1x/3g area? Perhaps your signal is weak and phone is draining trying to find the signal.
If that's the case, no custom rom would help that I don't think, its a service issue at that point.

I am on lte only......i have tested the mobile without sim card also.........battery backup is low SOT is around 3.5 hrs
I think some problem with battery or some stock rom issue.
Please tell me what is your SOT
same problem, any solution on XDA available?
I'm in the same boat, but from what I'm reading I'm probably just gonna have to install a new battery as the batteries tend to die out around 18-24 months. I know mine was bought new when the phone first came out in October 2016. So I'm looking into that route. ifixit has a guide up on how to replace it.

how much SOT? can u post screenshot
thanks in advance
good thread, I want to jump into a custom rom for this reason also but not sure which to go for.
Personally I prefer running Dirty Unicorns. This is a screenshot I took right now. I've been watching series, video chatting and browsing the web and youtubeing today. So with straight usage I usually get 6 hours of SOT. On a normal day (20 hours of usage gives me around 4,5 hours of SOT). I have also flashed Flash kernel and running it on stock settings. Screen brightness is around 20% most of the time and when I'm outdoor I use high brightness mode when needed. I don't use battery saving mode but I'm sure if I use that when the battery percentage gets low and if I use the smart pixel feature that DU offers then I could probably get out more SOT. The rom I'm using can be found on the discord channel on my signature. A new build will be posted this weekend, usually on Saturdays by shagbag913.

Probably cut down an hour on SOT on stock. Flash Kernel does a lot though. So I would say stock + flash kernel gave me better SOT than only stock. DU + flash kernel gives me more. It all depends on usage. I don't game but does consider my usage pretty average.

I haven't tried all kernels. The only one I have tried is Flash kernel and it gives you a bit more SOT as opposed to stock. Other kernels have more stuff that you could manually tweak and flash kernel keeps it simple and works great right out of the box.

Idle time?
Tried alot. For battery is say OOS.
I constantly get 7 to 9 hours screen on with my usage over 36 hours to 48 hours in-between charge.
I use this debloat script: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...l-tomatot-debloater-basic-script-to-t3869427/
And I'm testing this kernel atm. Happy with it.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/development/kernel-renderzenith-op6-t-t3883994
I think I used all kernels on XDA and tested them for around 7 days, all are good I have to say. About same performance and battery. Features are user dependent so look for the one that you feel like will fit your needs.
Stock OOS is the best for battery performance. I think the only one that got close to rivaling it is treskmod. I could be wrong on the treskmod part but OOS for sure is the best for battery.
Kernel is largely preference. All kernels here I tested were amazing. Focusing purely on battery I would say Bluspark, Smurf(battery profile), and Render are the best. Franco is also there too but I haven't seen him update his kernel in a while now and there's a vocal few reporting camera issues with his kernel.

Check the OP of Smurf it explains it. Easiest way would be the spectrum app.
OOS with RenderZenith for me
OOS with Elemental kernel at around 6hours of SOT with around 36 hours without charge.
Although I think the Rom is more important for the good battery life.

If you want very good battery life. Stay on stock. I'm very happy to share my battery screenshot.
No custom ROM no custom kernel giving better battery than stock oos. I tried even so called better battery friendly kernels and omni ROM (omni has been said better battery ROM than stock).

Majority of the thread said stock OOS. But I guess some like to see for themselves.
I have the same setup as you plus xXx. Getting great battery life not to mention the performance of it. Probably going to replace EX for daily driver duty. Burned through 50% of the battery with 4 hours SoT so far. Think I've found my winner; not going to switch to anything else anymore.

I'm seriously thinking to go and try some custom roms hoping for better batterylife. I barely get 5h of sot with stock rom. And I don't even game at all. Only chrome or brave browsing, facebook, instagram and youtube vanced. I get solid 4G connection all the time. And at home I'm connected to wifi. Screen on half brightness, 90hz and fhd. I really don't see a difference on battery draining with any resolution. All apps but messaging apps are optimised. After the android 10 ota upgrade I have once did a full factory reset even. But that didn't help at all.
Even tho any of my country's banking apps wont work after rooting, I'm willing to sacrifice that for better batterylife.
