Its been a while since I've had an Android device but just got my Moto X Developer Edition, I used to play around a lot with Roms and things like that and really liked it but again that's been a while. My first question is this, whats the easiest way to get my contacts from my Iphone 5S to the Moto X nowdays?
Thank you

Save contacts to the SIM card and extract them. It shouldn't matter that you're going from iOS to Android.

I would love for HTC to make a Nexus phone again but it seems google is only allowing Samsung to make them all now. So I wondering if anyone has heard of HTC adding any Nexus like features to the Sensation or creating a Nexus like phone?
Thanks you.
Chances the next Nexus will be a Motorola if Google go ahead with buying them
I do not think Google will allow Moto to build the next Nexus as they don't seem to have any advantages in hardware. Samsung has the best screens. HTC has the best build quality (which is why I love them).
But if Google own Motorola they can design it anyway way they want
That is true but from what Google said, Moto will be run as a separate company. So I do not think Google at this time cares about the hardware Moto has. Maybe later they will have Moto build android in some of Moto Switches and other equipment but not the phones unless Moto gives them no choice.
So, we all know that Google Play Editions of devices come with completely stock Android. However, with the new Moto X confirmed to have a similar version in the works, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were about it. Since it's a Google and Motorola made device, would it just be a normal Moto X but free of carrier bloatware, or would it be a Nexus experience (sans all the voice control, camera, and notifications)??

Maybe bumping a dead thread that I found from google, but I think it'd be a nexus experience. e.g. stock 4.2 framework/camera and motorola valueadds removed.

I'm wondering if it would come with anything related to the always-listening capabilities. That's a very "Google" thing to do, and doesn't require anything that wouldn't be present in the hardware. Kind of like how the GPE for the S4 and One retain their IR blaster capabilities.
I think it would be stupid not to have the always listening, on screen notifications and the quick camera access features. The two dedicated processors would go to waste! Maybe it'll have an option to disable them, though, for people who need extreme battery life.

Yeah, and like Tatanko said, it's not as if the hardware would be taken out of the device. Even better battery life, maybe even approaching Maxx-like longevity (wishful thinking of a Canadian longing for Moto's extended battery life ) would be awesome.

I'm in the market for a new phone and I've simply had enough of the ****ty Apple experience. I'm still using an iPhone 4, though the thing gets so hot when I'm on a phone call I almost feel like Apple should replace for free.
So i'm convinced that I don't want another apple phone. I have the Nexus 7 tablet and absolutely love it. I would love to have a device running stock android (or close to it) that also makes phone calls.
The one criteria: I have to maintain Verizon as my cellular carrier for the time being.
The two phones I'm looking at are the upcoming Moto X and HTC One.
It looks like the GSM variants of the HTC One can easily be rooted to run the goodle play rom, but does that mean the CDMA will also quickly get the same treatment?
So far, everything I see from the Moto X looks pretty good though I'm a bit disappointed in some the crap-quality photos it takes.
I'm hoping there's someone out there that can help with my analysis paralysis and point me in the right direction here. Big thanks!
So from what I understand, the Nexus 5 does not quite have the same Always Listen Google Now like the Moto X has, because on the Nexus 5 it only works from your home screens.... Does anyone expect that custom ROMs will be able to enable a truly Always On Google Now like the Moto X has? I would love to be able to use the Google Now Voice searches without having to touch the phone at all while my phone is on the nightstand and the screen is off.

bump!! bunch of different threads on this topic hopefully a dev will be able to figure out how to do this (without 3rd party battery draining app).
this is a bad new. All ok until 4.
1.-All Moto-branded devices to launch in 2016 will come with embedded fingerprint sensors.
2.-All Moto-branded products to launch in 2016 will have screen sizes of 5 inches, or larger.
3.-Moto-branded products will see their design fine-tuned to suit the needs of customers in both the East and West.
4.-Lenovo and Moto’s UI will be merged into a brand new UI to be unveiled in 2017.

Furious!!
F**k that! I only bought a Motorola device because it's the only affordable one with a stock-ish Android experience, I can't afford to import a Nexus device!!
This is somewhat disheartening, though by that point I will certainly have rooted my phone and so it will not affect me. Maybe they will have taken some design lessons from the Moto approach to things and won't go Full Samsung.
"Oh hey, I see you're to do anything on your phone, would you like to do the Samsung branded version of that?!?"
Of all the predictions I made, this is exactly the one I didn't want to happen. Some people told me that this it was too far fetched but, here they are doing exactly that. They are shooting themselves in the feet.
Honestly I'm very happy with the MXP pure android experience. But I'm not clear why so many people are worried about this news.
It all could go in the opposite direction: Lenovo delivering lighter UIs while keeping the Moto nearly untouched.
And if not...what's the problem? Are you buying a new phone? You don't like it stock? Change brand or root it and flash any other rom!
Easy
Sounds like typical Chinese OEM bull****. **** Lenovo. This will be my last Moto device.
Any pictures of the new UI that you guys are angry about?
Moto X Play is my first Moto smartphone and I love everything about it! Unfortunately if they really remove stock android/UI it will be my last Moto phone and I will move on to Nexus phones. Too bad Google sold Motorola to Lenovo =(

yup i agree, but still not every one is tech savvy, so that they can change roms and many don't do it just because they don't want to lose warranty, i don't blame them given the customer service we get to replace/repair a device even under warranty. moto was a trusted OEM to provide cheapest stock android devices(android one series are crappy).
personally this would be my last moto and i love it, but in future i'll stick with nexus.
I didn't even like the Lenovo's decision of killing Motorola brand either. Lenovo typical Chinese company showing its colors. They've already screwed up Motorola's iconic brand. And now they are also going to screw up it's near-stock Nexus-like experience. I always loved "Motorola Mobility" since the time it was reborn in 2013 with original Moto X & Moto G. So, this is seriously a bad news for me. Shame!
No need to root you can always install Google Now launcher for the stock feel
Rest I think would remain the same.
I have never owned a smartphone that was not from Motorola (Photon, razr i, Moto G, Moto X 2013 and Moto X play ) except for 3 months where i had LG3.
Guess it's time i started looking beyond Motorola
Just doesn't make any sense! I think it's pretty much common knowledge, that, in simple words:
Stock = love
Bloated, slow, ugly custom UI = hate.
Everyone and their grandmother knows it.
