Warranty/repairs - Ship to China? or Is it within US? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Howdy OPO owners,
How the reliability of this phone? Aside accidental breakage, how many of you have had problems?
I am in the US, so if I have an problem do I have to CALL China? or SHIP to China? Is the customer service/tech support available US hours?

They're in China so if something goes wrong the phone goes back to China. You can't call them, their support is via email.
Don't bother asking how many have problems because you're gonna get crazy responses like these:
1. All these phones are faulty, anyone who says otherwise is lying.
2. All these phones are perfect.
The reality is nobody knows how many of these devices are faulty, and anybody who claims to know such a thing is lying. Some are faulty, just like any other electronic device. The reliability of the device seems fine to me, I own two of them and have no problems.

thanks. How long have you had both your phones?
Are there decent cases/screen protectors available? I read that the screen glass projects a little bit around the edge. (I don't know if that's like all other smartphones.)

I've had them for six months. The Nillkin 9H tempered glass screen protector is fantastic, it doesn't protrude or project at all. The Diztronic TPU case is awesome. Both are very cheap.

need case for tp2 vzw

Where can I get a real good case and screen protector for my vzw tp2 with all buttons and holes in the proper accessible spot? A clean perfectly clear non anti glare screen protector as well. Can I get something in my local verizon store or another local store? I won't be buying anything like this online. i don't trust online one bit for something this fine.
welcome to the digital age....
do it online. Buy a ghost armor or phantom skinz or the like skin protector. I've tried both on the TP2 and like both. Phantomskinz is a bit harder to install though.
Remember to cover the wetness indicators on your phone with a small piece of paper and tape.
I actually find purchasing the ones they have at the Verizon store work best for me they usually outshine the ones I buy online from ebay or other sites, but cost a bit more
I bought the phantom skinz full body one. Didnt really have any issues applying it. Just make sure it is completely dust free, i have one annoying spec of dust under the screen protector, but its one i can live with. dont notice it most of the time, and not worth the effort of taking off and reapplying it.
A while back phantom skinz was having a 2 pack special and a coupon that got me 2 full screen and body protectors for about $16.

Maybe you didn't see this the first time.
Was about to make a thread about this for me too
The age old question, WTF happened to all the accessories with these phones especially when your spending $400+ dollars or more for the handset? ridiculous that you have to BUY your own MEMORY CARD and CARRYING CASE now and HEADSET, it should come with it. My Original Sprint Touch came with everything for 350 bucks even the USB dongles, WTF happened to the Touch Pro 2 on Sprint?
As far as screen protectors and outer-case protection get GHOSTARMOR!!!!. this stuff is amazing if you have not seen it....... thanks to some fellow XDA members directions in other threads here.....
http://www.ghost-armor.com
From what I researched I think this is the superior full body protecting surface material on the market. They put this product on Military Jet wings and Helicopter blades. Watch the youtube videos they have to show how crazy this product works. I still cant believe this stuff works that good until I buy it for myself here this weekend for my new Sprint TP2. I am getting the full body protection.
also some other people in this forum have directed me thankfully to their credit, said to get PDAIR cases.
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/index.php
So far I am on a searching galore for a case too for my TP2 this weekend. I have not even activated my phone because I do not have a memory card or carrying case yet which sucks. So right now I am definitely getting GHOSTARMOR first and foremost. Someone told me to get Speck cases, but they currently only taylor iPhones, Palms and Blackberries.

I really like the ones that come with the Sprint TP2. I've tried to order extras from Sprint but they won't send me any nor will they tell me who they get theirs from. There's nothing on the backing sheet other than a number: 66H00031-00M. Anyone know where sprint is getting their screen protectors from?
I just would like to know if local vzw stores and other retailers have cases and screen protectors for the tp2. I'm don't wanna deal with online. However the case/protector at seidio looks good.
I called around to all my local verizon stores and no one even carries a touch pro 2 in stock let alone any accessories.
I am using the seidio Innocase mentioned above and I must say its amazing. I was hesitant to spend $30 on a case at first, bit it is well worth it. You wont be dissappointed

Something wrong with your legs?
Seriously, how is anyone 'online' supposed to know what your local VzW store carries; unless they're local, too?
For instance, my local vzw stores carry scant selection of the latest phones a limited stock of accessories none of which I like--curtesy of living in a rural area. So, I usually turn to BoxWave, Seidio, WMExperts Store, Amazon or ebay. And if an independent vendor gets rave reviews or I really like something they've got, I order it.
It's not rocket science.
Me sorry
I just thought all vzw stores are the same for the most part.

[Q] How good is Gorillia Glass?

Hi,
I have a disability which prevents me from walking, so I use a wheelchair. The same disability affects my grip, so I have dropped my Nexus one about five times in one year. Also, my service dog has also made the problems worse by trying to pick it up by pawing at it (which he is trained to do, unfortunately the phone has been face down on concrete the past few times this has occurred.) Amazingly, the screen has held up rather well, with some deep scratches, but no cracks.
I've seen Gorilla Glass hold up to some awesome punishment. But, I've also read reports that it cracks easily when hit from the corners. Those of you which have newer devices with Gorilla Glass (especially LG Optomous 2X/G2X owners), how well does it hold up?
I don't expect any solution to be perfect, but I want to protect my phone as best I can. So, I also planning on buying a sturdy case to protect the body. Does anyone know of a comparable case with a spot for a lanyard? Would buying an invisible shield screen protector be overkill? Does it affect the feel and/or operation of the screen?
Any insights are appreciated.

Dont know if this helps you determine the strength of gorilla glass or not.
It is mandatory for me.

My Dell Streak has Gorilla Glass. I didn't take any chances with drops and bought an Otterbox Defender case for my Streak. Sure enough, i have dropped my Streak twice while it was in the Defender case. Zero damage to my Streak or case. Best case i have ever owned. I highly recommend it for any smart phone. No lanyard though.

Do we have any options for screen protectors on this tablet? I'd prefer to use the tablet "naked" with only a film over the screen to help deter scratches. (I really don't care if the back gets scratched..)
Thanks

SKinomi makes one for the GT7+ and the quality is good but I'm warning you of their customer service. They have the worst customer service. You better hope you won't have to deal with them. They got 3 strikes from me just on one order.
1st: they forgot to process the order, I had to send them a followup email
2nd they again, forgot to send the item after 10 days from processing. I had to send them another followup email.
3rd: the item arrived, they forgot to include a squeegee! No big deal if this is just the case but they already f#$%ed me 2x.
Plus they only respond if you answer them basic questions but if they had to deal with these issues, they keep silent and doesn't even apologize for their mistake. This is just my experience though.. I hope this doesn't happen to you.
UPDATE: Just got a word from their manager. They are in the process of looking for a company that will provide a squeegee for them (no biggie). And he apologized for everything that had happened.. That's all I needed. .. and a full refund. All is well!
Something I stumbled upon a while back. I've not bought it as I hear "Santa" is bringing it to me.
Looks pretty good from here.

Is it a glossy style or a more matte style? Would you say fingerprints are more or less of a problem with this screen protector? Would you describe the film as stiff or more "stretchy"? Does the protector create an "orange peel" effect?
Thanks

The Skinomis I've used in the past on other devices (wet apply) are iffy. Some were rather "rubbery" (DroidX) and kind of shiny (TF101). The larger the more pliable. I replaced both. Not a real fan of "wet-apply" myself. Others swear by them. Both attracted fingerprints and other goobers but wiped off easily.

This is the clear style not matte. Im curious on how a matte protector wouldfeel or look like but this clear skin is better in reducing fingrprnts than having nothing. My hands sweat a lot and this really helps. The feel is similar to Bodyguardz if you had experienced it. Total opposite ofnthe zagg protector that ive used on a gt10.1. My fingers has a friction squeaking feel on a zagg but this one is smooth.
This film is "stretchy".. wet apply..have like 2 dozen bubbles on it right now because i had to attend to my crying 2 yr old while applying this thing. By the time i came back, the it was too late to redo. But im confident these bubbles will all go away in a couple of days. Will update when the time comes. Some of them are already gone after 24 hours.
Anyway, if youre a fan of bodyguardz then this would be perfect as well. "Skinomi25" coupon cvode on their website saves 25%

I think it's more matte style, but I may be comparing it to phone protectors which I've used outside. No fingerprints on mine - I'm hella dark and ashy, and I have to use hand lotion all the time so chicks dig me. Fingerprints are a huge concern for me, so I am pleased with that aspect of the skin.
I don't notice any orange effect. I'm not sure if it's stretchy, but if you are talking about what I think you're talking about, then it is more stretchy than stiff(I'm guessing you mean kind of like camera film when describing it as stiff. I've had cheap protectors like that.)
Skip the atFolix stuff, I just got it and applied it. Frankly I'm happy they shipped two, as the product was god awful to apply and the first one I applied had a a couple scratches going down it.... so effectively it was burned...
Here's the Amazon feedback I just left and I'll elaborate more
----
Product not cut to size, with 1-3 mm from the edges of the tablet, gives it a cheap screen feel. The screen is only a single back applicator, meaning you only pull one side to apply. As a lot of other other screens use two backings, one to protect the adhesive and the other to protect the screen itself, you can expect some scratching on the screen itself due to the fact that the screens are shipped side by side and therefore rub and scratch during transit. Micro-scratches are very evident. Not happy with the quality and the somewhat self inflicted damage of the screens.
Finally shipper does not have tracking numbers available.
----
As for the cutting of the plastic, I've personally gotten better cut screens for my phones for less, then the cut of this plastic...
I wouldn't recommend this and given in couple months I'll most likely swap this screen out...

I'm getting the impression there are no good choices for this device. Perhaps I'll just get one of the generic "you cut it" protectors and cut it down to size myself.

Zagg has one available at best buy for the tab+ $24.
I miss when i got the original galaxy tab and there were pretty much a wide availability of aftermarket accessories for it. Not so much w/ the Plus. I'm still looking for a clear (non matte/anti-glare) and non-gummy screen protector.
I just got the skinomi finally last night and pulled it off after a minute of application. Just like the Zagg/invisibleshield product it has this grippy/gummy texture i don't like on my touchscreens. That's fine on the body if i don't want to use a case, but really not my preference on the screen.
What i want is a smooth, close to frictionless as possible on the touchscreen that affects the clarity as little as possible. In the past I like the Boxwave Crystals but they don't have any for our device, so I placed a request.
Anyone ever deal with this company? They list a screen protector specifically for our devices.
Looks promising. But then the Titanic looked promising..........

Oh believe me they have it. Their customer service is just plain incompetent and lazy. I got it after a couple of followups.. Oh and when USPS displays on their tracking website "Electronic Shipping Info Received" which indicates Skinomi already printed a shipping label for your item, don't settle and don't wait because for sure they will forget to send it in! Bang their heads until the tracking info starts moving. Then demand for a manager and get a refund for the trouble they've caused you. You then get the item for free. That serves them right because that item is their payment for the aggravation they've cause you. Just send them an email, be irate because I know you already are.

What is with the lack of accessory coverage?

So my phone is going to be here with tomorrow along with the Adopted Protective Case for Nexus 6P (Carbon). I am wondering why there aren't many name brand manufactures with cases; such as otterbox or incipio, out for the nexus 6p? my best guess is that Huawei is new to the US markets to the case makers that dominate the US markets were not given the dimensions of the phone or whatever else they might have needed in order to make a case for a device. Yet It also occurs to me that Google, would have seen to the dimensions being distributed.
My primary concern is really screen protectors. I am really disappointed that Invisible Shield, a company whom I have trusted to protect my phones for the past 6 or so years didn't have a screen protector available for the device. They are usually ahead of the game and release screen protectors before the phone comes out.
So whats the deal here? Who dropped the ball?

I feel the same as you!
The cases will come in due time. The Nexus line doesn't sell nearly as many units as let's say the S6, Note 5 etc... so with that being said case manufacturers have less incentive to make something if its a low volume. Companies make money from selling large quantities usually since R&D costs money which is basic business. Otterbox makes ugly cases, and Incipio is questionable so I don't care about either one even though they were just examples. Some big names are making cases (Spigen, Speck, Adopted (usually only makes iphone/samsung cases), SUPCase etc..) I don't see any issues with the current selection

As Pilz states, the Nexus devices aren't as mainstream as other devices. So mainstream companies like Invisible Shield don't see as much of a gain from producing a product for our devices. Also, you have to take into consideration that the full hardware specs weren't fully released, resulting in a LOT of last minute revisions to cases and screen protectors (e.g. - blocked sensors).
Luckily, XDA has a nice community where we can create threads to give our input on specific accessories. In your case, I'd recommend going through the thread on Tempered Glass Screen Protectors to help you make your choice. I ended up going with IntelliGLASS since they were/are having a BOGO on their product with a coupon code.
Anyways, the phone is barely reaching consumer's hands right now. So as the month progresses, I'm sure we'll see much more options for accessories!

I totally agree. I remember being able to get the Zagg for my N5 almost right away. They have the cutting machine at the Zagg kiosk at my local mall, and they don't even have the template yet, so it doesn't seem to be a production issue.

Most of the top tier case makers tend to be Apple and Samsung only with a few other selected models. It's based on expected sales volume. And Apple and Samsung are number 1 and 2 in worldwide sales and have even bigger sales leads in the U.S. I've been using Otterbox Defenders since I carried a blackberry eons ago. Doesn't look like I'll get one for the 6P.
The sales volume of the Nexus 6P (and even the 5x) has taken most by surprise. Nexus devices had always been good, but somewhat quirky in the past. Not so with the new models. And they are priced to sell too.
As to timing, I agree the manufacturers should be making form fit dimension packages available a lot sooner. But the problem now for a company like Otterbox is that now that they are going to be late to market, does it make sense to make something have already lost a lot of the early sales they would have garnered had they been to market on time?
That won't be in stock ( the correct version ) until after the 9th...
"Hello and thank you for your recent Nexus 6P intelliGLASS HD order!
We here at intelliARMOR appear to have been using incorrect manufacturer specifications when producing our initial round of intelliGLASS for the 6P, and missed the mark with respect to cutouts for the proximity sensor and accommodation for various cases.
To remedy this, we have adjusted our design to be case friendly and accommodate the correct location of the proximity sensor (important for real glass). By the time you read this, the updated version will already be in production and we are on schedule to have these ready to ship out of our U.S. warehouse by November 9th. Any one who preordered intelliGLASS will receive the updated version (albeit with a slight delay). If you already received the initial version, we will setup a replacement for you completely free of charge.
Out support staff is available to help out with any additional questions you might have and we’ll continue to respond the best we can on various forums to answer any questions and serve you better. You can always reach us at [email protected]

Explains why it has not shipped yet

Durability of the glass

Hi there.
I've got the problem that I have to decide between two devices. P9 or H8.
The H8 looks, imo, better and feels better. A bit thicker and heavier. That's what I like, until now I use the one M8, there I know what I've got in my hands
The biggest deal breaker so far is the back side. Made of Glas. I hate this kind of coolness, that seems to be more important than durability.
Additional there is in Germany no warranty for the first months to get front or back replaced if broken.
So what's your experience with the phone? Already dropped it out of hand or pocket? Perhaps landing on back or front? Did it survive everything so far, or was a side broken?
Next point is the price, honor 8 399€, P9 519€....
If it would have a metal back.....
I'm looking forward for your answers!
Greetings
Patrick
You can read something from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/screen-strong-t3456686 it gets scratched easilly with micro scratches (As EVERY device with back glass. I know this because i had the xperia Z1 and my friend has S6 edge which got scratched too) and I guess as long as you get a case and dont drop it you should be fine.

Thanks for the link.
Well that means that I will call my market and NOT take it. They shall sell it someone else.
A case and a tempered glass is not the problem.
But a crack from a minor drop, and easy scratches and so on, not thank you. That's not worth a saving of 120 euro....
Damned.
..
Well if you dont have both hands left you wont drop it. That's up to you but i also prefer to buy phones in classic shops instead of dealing with sending my phone for repair through mail (in case of RMA). This is why i bought Honor 8 instead of OP3.
It's not just because of my left hands
I also got a child with 1,5 years. And believe me, somehow she always gets her hand on my phone. And yes, I am sometimes a little bit left handed. My M8 fell down several times, always in a case, but never something (noticeable) happened. But it's getting sooooo slow, I need to make factory reset at least once a month to get a smooth phone back. That's annoying. And that's the point why I need a new one. Or want a new one. Depends on the point of view
And after I know that I definitely WILL let it fall down sometimes.... I go for some phone without a glass back. Seems to me a bit better for my money
And yes, I ordered the last phones on Amazon. But we hate each other now, so I will buy it at a store, or a bit cheaper at O2. But never ever again Amazon for electric stuff.
But I leave the point of this thread.
The glass seems to be ok, as long as you use a foil on the front and a case and never let it fall down.
Point one and two ist fine. Point three impossible. So I have to choose something else... Really a bit bad, cause I like the optic....
Point to add to this...
I've had my Honor 8 for a few weeks. I've never dropped it or set it face down. I don't put it in a pocket with anything else.
I've got a LOT of scratches on the face already. It's really disappointing. I looked online and to get a tempered screen protector (which looks like garbage because they don't cover the whole screen) I'd have to wait until mid October. I'm sure the screen will be in horrible shape by then.
I love the phone but they cheaped out on an important part.

Did you check out Amazon for screen protectors? I found a few on there BUT the best one in my opinion is the Skinomi FULL BODY wrap. I'm getting that one plus a clear case and that should protect it to a certain degree. I've used the Skinomi full body wraps on my HTC's and they work great at protecting from minor drops and scratches....
Good luck!!

What are you talking about? The phone was advertised as having 3 months warranty on the screen.

Yeah the ones on amazon ship to me in October, no earlier. I'm pretty disappointed because I don't use cases or screen protectors on my phones, but my Nexus 5X was fine for 8 months so far with no scratches. I've had this one less than a month and it's starting to get bad.
