[Q] CM 12 in XT1033 (Not converted into GPE) - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Moto G is XT1033 varient. I didnt converted it into GPE. Its just normal XT1033 out of box. I unlocked the bootloader and then flash TWRP (2.8.0.1-xt1032) recovery to install CM12. But when i booted into recovery, i got flickering screen. Then i flashed Philz Touch (philz_touch_6.58.7-falcon) and installed CM 12 official by wiping data, system and cache. But i cant get pass through the boot logo. Is there any way to get latest TWRP for XT1033 varient. How can i flash CM 12 in my XT1033 varient without converting it into GPE.

Flash CM11 first. Then flash CM12 over it. Though dual sim is not working on XT1033.

Ok. If i flashed CM 12 through CM 11 will i get one sim working?
Anyway, in CM12 thread, they mentioned that we need L compatible recovery. What will happen if i flashed CM11 using Philz (Which i think Kitkat compatible recovery.) Will it work on Lollipop. And since, i trapped in bootscreen, how can i flash CM11 without copy it to my mobile. Thanks.

I downloaded CM 11. But i cant copy that to my mobile, since it cant surpass the boot screen. i tried adb sideload and adb push. But permission denied. Please help me on this.

1. No dual sim or just one sim in slot will not work
2. I used philz to flash cm12 and had no problems.

So you didnt convert XT1033 to GPE?
How long it will take to boot up for first time?

Always booting recovery

Hello
Im using CDMA Moto G XT1031.
I have tried every possible way to go back stock but the phone refuses. Even stock recovery will not show the red exclamation mark and continuous bootloops.
I have tried TWRP but no luck. Only Philz works, so I tapped Clean to install new ROM and flashed CM 11 Nightly via USB OTG (because sideload was not working however fastboot works)
Now even CM refuses to start and throws me back to recovery.
Please help
Thanks

But is it safe to flash a GSM image on CDMA just to revive it from virtually dead since factory recovery is also not working, only Philz works?

the point is that you must flash your moto g with a higher android version from what your moto g installed,...example if you have this problem on 4.3 so you must flash 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 and if on 4.4.2,so flash with 4.4.4..if for this time 4.4.4 update for cdma moto g was not yet available,i think u must wait until 4.4.4 update's coming.
i think cdma and gsm img is a different.

[ROM] Official Cyanogenmod 12 Installing Guide

CM12 Official!
Guys those who have flashed Official CM12 on XT1033 couldnt get signal in it.
Problem can be solved By The following steps:
Convert the XT1033 to GPe 4.4.2(Not 4.4.4) Click Here to know how to do that.
Flash the latest TWRP recovery. Please dont use Colockworkmod recovery, it didnt work for me.. Link is here
Flash the latest CM12 from Here
Flash the Lollipop gapps from Here
Flash Donkey kernel from Here (This is required to get a signal)
Reboot and enjoy!!
All the above files are not mine!!
The above process worked for my XT1033 Asia Moto G

Thanks.
Convert what? You just flash the zip via custom recovery.

Flah a custom recovery
& wipe /data /cache /Dalvik-cache
Install the CM12 ROm & install GApps
Reboot the phone
Hey, Thanks. But I don't think this applies for the X1033 with updated bootloader. I have tried TWRP recovery, but the screen is flickering and the system didn't boot up after I flash CM12.

Moto g XT1033 stuck in PA 5.1 Boot Screen.. Help please !

Hi all
In order to use a custom rom , I did the following with my moto g XT1033.
It was running on android 4.4.4 wen i did all these.
1. Unlocked bootloader and flashed twrp 2.8.7.0.
2. Downloaded the latest PA build from here "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2614690"
3. And downloaded pico gapps.
4. When i flashed the rom it told that the bootloader is out of date. So i updated the bootloader following this thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/falcon-bootloader-upgrader-tool-t3093793"
5. And when i flashed the rom it was flashed fine. And the gapps and supersu also.
But when i reboot it stucks in bootscreen. I tried wiping and flashing once again. It doesnt work. The bootloader and the recovery are remaining safe and good.
Shud i try a new different ROM or is there any problem with my procedure.. ???
The current bootloader version is 41.18. Moto g phones using 5.1.1 had bootloader version as 41.1A. Does this make a difference..?
Try another rom like aicp or euphoria
Hey my moto g3 cm 12.1 camera pictures taken with flash are black panorama pictures appear orange and slow mo is not working

No 41.18 is still fine (it also can be used for marshmallow ROMs e. g. CM 13 or CyanPop)!

Did you root your device after you unlock your bootloader? Maybe you can try to flash supersu first then try to reflash rom and gapps.

TWRP says "Patching system image unconditionally" for CM 14.1 nightly on XT1033

TWRP says "Patching system image unconditionally" for CM 14.1 nightly on XT1033
Hey I have a question please help me.....
I have an old Moto G (1st Gen Indian Retail Unit) XT1033. I have successfully unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp recovery. When flashing the CM 14.1 nightly it is stuck at "Patching system image unconditionally" for about an hour now. What might be the problem? I've searched a lot in xda forums but of no luck. :crying: Can anyone guide me through this?
Thanks in advance.

* When you boot into recovery, TWRP asks for write permissions? If it does, allow modifications and try to flash again.
* Also you can try to download the ZIP file again, maybe the download went bad or corrupted.
* When this happened to me I made a *very clean install*. This means, that before flashing the zip file you wipe all the partitions (cache, dalvik, system, data, internal storage). Then reboot to recovery again, copy the zipfile and the google apps from the PC over USB, then flashed both zip files and then rebooted without problems.
The problem that you describe also happened to a friend's phone but unfortunately for him, it was a faulty phone (internal storage was starting to degrade, eventually it stopped working).
Thanks. I am going to bed right now and try to do something tomorrow morning. Also, is root access mandatory for flashing custom ROM? I am currently in stock 5.1 ROM if that matters.
P.S. I was thinking that may be it could work if I go from 5.1 to 6.0 on the CM 13 and then go to CM 14.1. Would that make any difference than going directly to CM 14.1 from stock ROM running on 5.1?
Help Guys!! I can't get it to work! And also my twrp is not asking for any permissions.
My Bootloader is version 41.1A if that matters anything.
UPDATE: I flashed the CM 13 Snapshot and it worked. I am now going to try updating from CM 13 to CM 14.1
One doubt, I currently have no GApps flashed. Can I go ahead and update to CM 14.1 and then download and flash GApps for CM 14.1? Or should I flash GApps for both CM 13 and CM 14.1 separately?
Solved!! After installing CM 13.0 I was able to install CM 14.1 successfully. Sorry for the late post.
