For some reason my phone is reading my SD card and realizing its there but I cant access it. When I try to access it in recovery, it shows as if its empty. When I try to look for it with root explorer, its not there. But when I connect my phone to the computer, the SD card shows up with everything I have in it. This started happening after I made a transfer from my windows 8 computer to my phones SD card. It would not let me so I had to go into the files properties and unlock the file before transfer. Dont know if that has anything to do with it.
Please delete thread. I just reformatted my SD card and it solved the problem. Don't know what caused the issue though.

I wanted to put some music on my sd card and i turned off my xda and took the sdcard and put it in my usb1.1 6-1 flash reader. Then I noticed that it was filled with odd corrupt files. It looked as if my valid programs on the SD card, mainly those installed using 'choose SD' in activesync, were dead
the sd is 256MB and 3 of the corrupted files in the root of the sd card
claim to be 1.3GB
I didn't format the sdcard when i got it the xda could read it just fine and i copied files from my mem to the SDflash and later on used activesync to install on it. So since this all happen after I put the sdflash in the flash reader. Could it be that causing it ?
This is not on a 2003 ROM so it's not related to any of those issues.
I make sure that before I remove my sd card from the card reader that I right click on the drive in "my computer" and click "eject", this seems to flush any cached or delayed write files and close any open files, give it a try and see if it prevent it happening again.
well i doubt thats the problem because i noticed those corrupted files when i plug'd the sdcard into the PC not when i put it back into the xda
i dident eject the card before taking out the sdcard of the pc
but i did turn off the pc which should result in pretty much the same thing
how do you guys take out the Micro SD card from the phone....do u guys just push the card and it eject or how? I can't seem to find a way to do it? Could my unit/device be bad?? please help thanks
Hi,
for a few days im not able to write anything to my sdcard (SanDisk 8GB). Im sure its not permission related (read only mode..). My computer (linux) can read flawlessly, just like my phone (Moto Milestone/TheFroyoMod 2.4c). But when i copy files to the sdcard and plug it back in, the new written data is lost. Same for my phone. I can take photos but the files cant be stored on the sdcard. I already tried to format the sdcard with GParted but it wont let me do ANY changes. Even if i format it to another FS, when i plug it back in, its still FAT 32 with all the data still on it. Windows wont let me format it at all.
Does anyone have a similar issue and manged to solve it?
ty!
Is it an old card, been used a lot? It may not be the case, but it sounds like nand that has run out of write cycles.
well ive been using it for 6 months now. Just regular usage.
It sounds like you've tried everything available to you. I'd recommend copying the contents of the SD card onto your PC for safe keeping and try to source another card.
Hi All,
I'm not sure if Im overlooking something here, but I'm trying to flash a rom to my G2 phone.
I rooted it and confirmed it and installed Rom manager. I backed up my system. I download the rom to my PC and transferred it to the root of the SD card. But I go looking for it, and its not there.
If I browse my files from the PC as USB storage, its not there though I could see Windows transferring a little over 300Mb. I tried renaming it, setting it up in a different folder, nothing. It wont show up on the SD card. Its an HTC sense .zip file rom.
I'm stumped. I was happy everything was going as it should, then boom, I cant find it on the SD card. I even tried a different SD card.
Any opinions?
Thanks,
Chip
Sorry all, I'm in the wrong forum. Please close this.
I have a T-Mobile G2 with stock 8GB microsd card. I was recording a video about 45 secs into it and all of a sudden the phone froze, I am not sure if it got full caz just before taking the video I checked and there was ~1.8GB free space. After a while an message came up saying "Please insert a SD card" (something along those line), so I figured my card must be full.
So I decided to go try and delete some file on it, only to find out all my apps installed on SD card was now unavailable, this is when I started to worry. I rebooted the phone, no luck. I shut it down and removed and replaced the SD card, no luck.
Plugged it into a Windows PC (Win XP 32 bit), it would see it in My Computers for few seconds and would disappear, even if I try to access it, it was just disappear.
I have some pictures and videos that I had taken on vacation which I really need, any ideas?
Currently as a temp solution I have a 4GB Microsd card in it and everything is fine (obviously, apps still not available), but I need the data from my original 8GB as this is my main concern, please help.
Btw, I have tried using recovery software such as Recuva and testdisk but since windows won't even see the drive I cannot use such software.
Thanks a ton.
if the sd not detected in phone or pc, maybe the sd card already dead.
anyone please?
Thanks
Im not sure what else can be said. If you computer and phone cant see the card, then it's probably dead. All you can at this point is attempt to do a quick format of the card and try to use the recovery software on it to see if you can restore the file structure

Yeh that is my last resort, but the problem is I cannot do anything as the drive disappears 2-3 seconds after windows detects it and when I try to do anything to that drive it just freezes for a while and closes itself.
any ideas??
if you have a digital camera insert the micro-sd via adapter make sure though to unmount the micro-sd via CWM for example, you should now be able to format the micro-sd card over the menu of your camera. if this doesn't work there's still hope you can try to format it on a linux based system but for now try to format it on your cam
Regular recovery methods won't work too good on an sd card, they were meant for spinning drives. Flash memory either works or it doesn't usually. Try cleaning the contacts and using different card reader/adapter combos. Try a linux live cd etc. If it's dead or corrupted, your kinda stuck. Even a format worked I wouldn't trust it again.
Well, I stock rooted yesterday, and all went well, except for my sd card.
I did the "wipe" stock rooted and removed my sd card before doing so, so that I would lose the items on the sd card. But a couple folders are missing/hiding or I can't see them.
I'm missing the Camerazoom folder that had all my images in it, as well as all the music that I've had on my sd card. I've had the music on that card for over 3 years, and now I can't seem to find it.
Would this be hidden somehow? Is there a Windows app that will let me view all the items on my sd card while it's in the phone? I have the drivers installed and I can peruse my card and my phone, but am not finding either folder using this method.
Please advise and thank you.
Hey wolfgrrl,
Can you directly connect to computer or
use an SD Reader to check for the files.
This will verify if they are there or not.
Sometimes (and I have seen this happen before)
just removing the SD Card (for about a minute) then
replacing it may fix it 4U.:victory:
Just remember to turn off phone first, then remove
battery, then remove SD Card. Reverse order and turn
on phone.
Hope This Helps:fingers-crossed:
Unfortunately, that did not work. :crying:
I don't have a reader for a card this small. Such is life.
