Z3 froze - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title stated. I have yet to do anything to my z3.
no root or anything....
Missed my two hours lecture because of it
the notification light is on and blinking but the phone itself will not respond when pressing the power button or double tapping the screen.
had to try pressing power button with volume up to hard reboot it (i don't know but it works, got this technique from rooting my S3)
Anyone with Z3 encountered this problem yet?
my model is D6603

Try the following step:
1). Remove your phone case/cover if you have one
2). Open the MicroSD/NanoSim Flap
3). Get a pin and push the small emergency off button which is yellowish ; Example below

Umm..What exactly does the button do when you press it?
I didn't have to pressed the yellow button to fix it but simply by pressing volume up and power button.
Was asking if anyone has the same experience cuz im worried about mine being defective, only had it for 2 months i think

It happened for me just one time, i had it for 3 weeks. Anyway that button simply does forces the phone shut down, it also works if you are stuck in the bootloader

Could you be more specific?
THX

I had the Sony Xperia Z3 for three weeks, there was a ram overuse and it froze, i put that button and it turned off.

It happened to me once since Sp. '14 and reset button solved the issue...

It simply forces a shutdown, It won't affect your data, i believe it will vibrate 3 times once it shuts off or something like that

How to reboot your phone when it freezes?

I was thinking about this, because custom ROMs can be unstable and can freeze your phone. But we can't pull the battery, so what can we do?
Nvm
Found similar thread on the One X forum. Imagine that we couldn't reboot.. stuck for life on the freezescreen LOL xD
This is definitely a positive side-effect of a non-removable battery, although other phones can (and do) function the same. As was said in the linked thread, the iPod/Phone will reset with a long-press on the power button. My old Fascinate would reset if you held the power and, I think, volume down for long enough. Hardware-wise, that was probably the only complaint I have against the Inc 2 - every time it freezes (usually my own fault), I have to pry the battery cover off, pry the battery out, replace, then snap the cover back on. Really nice just being able to hold a button or two down for x number of seconds.

You can wait till the battery is empty (sorry I couldn't resist).
Also how can we open bootloader when it's required to remove the battery

Reboot:
Press and hpold power button until phone reboots.
Touchscreen buttons will flash 5 times, and then the phone will vibrate. At this point phone is turned off.
the phone will reboot automatically after a few seconds.
Bootloader:
Press and hold until buttons stop flashing and phone vibrates. phone is now off. Let go of power.
Press and hold vol- and power before the phone automatically reboots.
This is tested on 1.53.401.2
I was asking myself the same question
@Minecraft: what is hpold power?

I think it's a typo, and it's "hold power"
But on the One X it's hold volume button (+ and -) and hold power !
Stuck on flash screen is Power and Vol up+Vol Down

Indeed it is a typo.
As for the one X/XL, the process is identical to what i wrote above, as is the V.

Holding power should work from any screen, it's hardware coded.
I hope the power button doesn't fail like it eventually did on my Nexus one.

[Q] HTC 8X A&T semi-"bricked" - details - help?

Boy, I've read a ton about this issue and no one seems to be able to solve this exact problem.
Got my hands on an HTC 8X which, if left to run normally, just hangs on the at&t logo screen.

And before you say anything, no, the hard reset doesn't work, because using the initial volume down/power procedure reboots the phone...the hard reset must be done from "off," not reboot. Plus, if the battery runs out entirely, the device will just enter the reboot cycle again when recharged. Just like the issue discussed here -> http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=19892&news=windows+phone+8+bricked+htc+8x+nokia+lumia+920+microsoft+bricking
Now, I can reliably get the device to either the "flash settings" static screen, like this, almost every time I try doing volume up keypresses from boot:
...OR I can get it to the root system info screen, like this, almost every time I do some multiple volume down keypresses interspersed with an up keypress at boot, while connected to my computer via USB [if I disconnect, the screen changes to "serial"]:
However, I can't figure out how to bring it back from the dead.
Note that I am not a ROM cook and don't even own a Y-cable, so be gentle if you're going to talk about anything along those lines. However, any advice that isn't related to the hard reset? If so, thanks. If not, at least I've documented this specific "semi-bricked" state on here.
I know you don't want any advice related to the hard-reset method, but I am curious if you tried the following:
1. Run the phone down until the batter is 100% dead. (unresponsive when you hit the power switch.
2. While plugging in the power cable, press and hold the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons, Release them when you see an icon on the screen.
3. Then press the following hardware buttons in this sequence: VOLUME UP > VOLUME DOWN > POWER > VOLUME DOWN.
Let me know how you make out.

Yep, I absolutely did that, but thanks. Did not work. Would only reboot the phone and lock it on the at&t screen again.
Sounds like no one can help here.
Without an At&t stock ROM, it will be tough to fix this.
What did you end up doing with your phone? Any luck?
Got the same problem on my HTC 8X AT&T. Got a RMA setup with HTC. What did you do?

[Q] Power Button Stuck

I'm about to try the soldering technique on my Infuse's power button but I have some questions before I give it a go.
My infuse has had this problem before but I temporarily fixed it by dropping the phone. Then it happened again so I tapped the power button against the corner of my desk which also fixed the problem. Now the stuck power button is back again, but this time I actually opened the phone up entirely to see what the problem was. There seems to be none..turning on my phone without the plastic casing containing the power button and volume rocker did NOT work. So my phone boot loops even without anything "jamming" the power button down. So is the issue with the stuck power button really resolvable? In MrKickstand's guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996709 I've tried everything except for the soldering technique. He notes there are four spots of solder that need to be melted. I see three. What do I do? This is my last ditch effort before I call up the local cell phone repair shop.
Edit: Pulling the power button with tweezers didn't do anything.

Attempting to boot my phone without the case on it results in a bootloop too. I'll try putting the case back on the screen/motherboard.
It didn't work :'(

[Q] Remapping of volume down key to power button

Hi
I have a Nexus 5 and recently my power button started behaving all weird. I figured out that it's probably worn out and started registering presses at random times, sometimes rebooting the phone.
My solution was to use the double tap to wake kernel, but on lollipop it seems to drain a LOT of battery.
The next thing I thought of, was remapping the buttons, so that I can switch the function and use my volume down key as a power button, and the power button as a volume down button.
Went into system/usr/keylayout/ and edited the General.kl and replaced the 114 and 116 button codes, but it didn't seem to have any effect. Then I went into the other files and managed to get the volume down and power button not to work I did a restore, and everything is back to normal, but I couldn't achieve my goal
Also tried Button Remapper, but it didn't do anything.
Does anyone know how this can be achieved on Lollipop?
Thanks
Some ROM provide a volume rocker wake function.
Or if you're talking about to turn the phone on while its completely shut off or while in bootloader, then it'll never happen.

OK about the Volume rocker wake, but I would need it to also put the phone to sleep, and also I want the power button to act as volume up/down(whatever).
Don't need it when the phone is completely off, just while it's on. Basically I'm asking which values to edit in order to completely swap the power and volume down buttons.
You need cataclysm rom... See the red arrows I drew on -

Hey thanks for the solutions suggested, but I'm looking for a mod on stock Lollipop, rooted. Tried to modify the files in system/usr/keylayout but I always end up breaking the volume buttons and they do not wake up the device...Any other solutions?

Please help! S5 encryption fail cannot reset phone to factory settings

I have the sprint samsung galaxy s5 north american version. SM-G900P.
It was working fine all day. sometime during the night it just restarted while i was browsing the internet (while waiting for Jurassic World to play) and the error popped up saying unable to complete encryption due to interruption. There is a button to that says "reset device" but it doesn't work.
I tried to do a factory reset by holding the "home+VOL UP+ power button" but after it loads past the recovery mode. All i see is the android with the red exclamation mark and then the phone just automatically restarts.
To my knowledge this phone isn't rooted.
I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to what i can do to fix my phone.

Hey I appreciate your input, I only included that download screen to show more info about the phone.... As I have stated in my post that I tried to do a factory reset via holding the PWR,VOL+,and HOME button but after the recovery mode loads. I just get the dead android with the red triangle of death. (red exclamation mark) and you know how usually after the recovery mode loads you have the list of options on the side that you can scroll through using the vol buttons it was not there. Then the phone would just restart after a few seconds. I tried to hold the VOL+ and POWER button after the recovery mode to see if maybe it would do something but it did't work...
So far I've ran into one other person with the problem and they just gave up and bought another phone! Wish me luck!
Found a solution yet?
I have the same issue, happened in the morning after my alarm went off. Luckily after and not before otherwise I might have been late to work...
Anyway I can't do a factory reset either. Was thinking about flashing the firmware but can't seem to load the bootloader screen either.
Have you found a work around?
Guys, I just went through somewhat similar, but for SM-G900F international version. You might want to take a look: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/s5-sm-g900f-multiple-fatality-soft-t3351343.
cool down
I know i am late but when the triangle comes up with dead android just use power button once and screen will show options
