Lock screen replacement on CM12 - AT&T LG G3

I've been running CM12 for a while now and the only thing I dislike about Lolipop is the lock screen. I really miss widgets and apps on my lock screen. I installed C Locker (Pro) which I had used on a different phone running KK and it works much better now on Lolipop. It is very customizable, I am using transparent clock/weather widget, calendar widget (Scrollable) and a number of app shortcuts. The only gotcha was I had to delete the Android guest account otherwise when I would unlock it would go to the Lolipop lock screen. You can setup up a lot of gesture actions, and click on the lock button turns the phone back off. Mine is probably gaudy and way too colorful for most but that's how I like it

I couldn't remember exactly so I went through it again
1- Switch user to the guest user in settings (have to go through initial setup for the guest user, I skipped everything I could in the setup process)
2- then go to back into the users in settings
3- instead of choosing your main user account to switch back to, select "remove Guest"
At this point, it switched me back to my original user, but the touch screen is not responsive
Pull battery and replace
once rebooted, go into C Locker, turn it off and then back on.
Then everything works fine.
The guest user will still show up in users, I guess it recreates it.
Hope this helps...

Thanks a lot for your quick reply but i found another way to disable it In Clocker ->Security->turn off default lock screen.. and you are done with it. But in this case you will miss out those beautiful floating notifications on lock screen.

Disable stock lockscreen in titanium?

What is the service called so I can freeze it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
You cant freeze that. There is nothing to freeze.
Why not just go to the Security portion of settings and disable the lockscreen? Just dont put any pattern, pin, or anything. Then anytime you lock the screen it just powers down the screen, hit the power button and its back on, no lock screens of any kinds.

Thanks.
But I want a lockscreen.
I use WidgetLocker and every once in awhile, I get the stock lockscreen and have to swipe it away, then I get the Widgetlocker screen immediately after and have to swipe that away also.
And a couple other buggy type gremlin stuff. Nothing serious, just bits of annoying.
So it would be easier if I could just delete or freeze the stock lockscreen.

Your not going to be able to freeze it because its not really an app to freeze. Its part of the android.policy.jar and framework-res.apk file. This is what the rom makers mess with when they forcing say the AOSP lockscreen.
As far as why the stock one keeps showing up, something is not right, if you set the lockscreen to none on the security settings, then the widgetlocker should be the only one showing up, you shouldnt have two lockscreens. That only happens if you have the security set to a native lockscreen and then widget locker is sitting on top of that.

Huh, if that's the way it's supposed to be done, then I wonder why WidgetLocker doesn't do it for me.
I just turned off the lockscreen in security (I think) and WidgetLocker is still working. I assumed it would be disabled also, if I turned off lockscreen. We'll see if this does the trick. Thanks.
The lockscreen settings in the settings tab only affects the original one, it cant adjust the widgetlocker one. It doesnt even know about that.
So if you removed the lockscreen from settings, it wont show the original samsung one anymore. If they still have Widgetlocker installed and enabled, it will then be your lockscreen. If you dont want that, then you need to disable Widgetlocker and either get another one you like or put the samsung one back on since you said you still want some type of lock screen, otherwise you wont have any lock screen, just a screen power off.
The lockscreen apps unfortunately cant modify the existing base OS code, they litterally just sit on top of the existing one and sort of inject themselves in there by you giving them the default. But if the stock/samsung one is enabled it still goes into effect, thats why you end up with two lockscreens. So basically you need to enable just one of them.

Yep, it looks like you can disable any security settings that pertain to the default lockscreen. Like removing a pin, or special drawing function to unlock.
But it doesn't actually remove the lockscreen itself.
So I tried "No Lock":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...nolock&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
This completely disables the default lockscreen.
But on reboot, you still see the lockscreen for like two seconds, then it goes away on its own.
I'll try this combo with WidgetLocker for awhile to see how it works. So far so good, but the real test will be over a few days use.
Sometimes that stock lock screen would come up when I bring the phone out of deep sleep. It's fairly rare, just enough to be a small annoyance.

Interesting Lock Screen/status bar hack

well a couple days ago i was messing around with launchers. i had just finished installing and configuring my home screen for go launcher ex, and like it so much i decided to set it as the default homescreen app.
next i decided to install go locker and see if i liked any of their lock screens. so i installed one i liked and tested it. when i was satisfied with the appearance i decided to reboot the phone just so i can see it all settle in from a cold boot. but hadnt yet set go locker as default.
this is the part that gets interesting:
on boot everything started normal. but my default pin code screen came up. so i entered the pin and right after logging in a window popped up asking me which locker id like to use or select as default.
assuming this was the 'go locker' trying to launch itself after the fact on boot because it wasnt yet set as default i decided, what the heck let me set it as default right away so i can see it all boot up straight in. and im really glad i did.
i noticed after a while of using the device that accessing some programs like messaging, email and facebook that for some strange reason my default lock screen requesting the pin would pop up. id have to enter the pin for the app to actually launch. it was weird but i sorta liked it, and decided to get to the bottom of what caused this glitch over the past 24hrs.
it seems that the initial boot which asked me which locker i would like to use was an action launched by the status bar. thus, after setting it to use go locker erroneously as default, now any time i select a notification from the status bar, the pin code lock screen pops up requesting the pin before giving access to the notification. and for some reason, i really really like this.
i am thinking the lock screen is somehow embedded with the statusbar? wonder if any devs could shed some light on what configuration would cause this. and im interested in setting it manually to other apps as well. i dont mind that its my default pin code screen. what i like especially being able to lock apps with my default pincode screen. meaning i wouldnt have to install any additional software to achieve app launch security for specific apps. for now it only works on apps that notify me via the status bar. i figured out that much.

that's weird, in samsung devices, you can set default lockscreen to 'none' and keep fingerprint active.
I had it working on my s7 edge with your original clocker app. I'm not sure about the light version I will try it on my s7 edge later today. The nexus however will not because it will auto delete the prints whenever the screen is set to none.
I really love this lite version, but why do I have to write my pin when I click the widget music? Is there a way that i can play the music without unlock it? Oh and is it possible to add more info on the notifications? What I mean is when I tick no show content can show like '4 messages in 3 chats' like in stock lockscreen. Hope you can read my suggestion, great job :good:
the widget click works together with the PIN you set, i will consider making it an option to set without PIN when clicking widget.

I used the c locker free but it was very slow on start up of my device.
It took more then half a minute to lock the screen.
I switched to the lite version hoping this would faster and it seems to be.
But when I start up my device it doesn't lock and i get a toast saying "auto unlock as system lock is enabled".
In settings my lockscreen option is set to none.
I'm on an Asus Zenfone 2 laser (Z00ED) with stock firmware.

Done. Thank you for the help.
FYI: I Had an other issue.
I just updated my phone and let google restore all my apps, including C Locker Lite. After that i did a reboot, but i forgot to turn off the android lockscreen. When the phone started I saw the C Locker loading screen and then a blank / black screen. without any way to unlock. I could pull down the quick toggles, but nothing else. I waited for about 5 minutes, but still nothing.
Also i didn't wipe my SD, but did wipe data and system.
I restarted again, but the same thing happened.
I went into TWRP and deleted the app from data/app/ with the file manager and restarted. everything worked again.
It's not a problem for me anymore, but it might be for people doing a factory reset without any custom recovery.
good app!

Honor 8 Nougat and EMUI: Likes and Unlikes

I have the FRD-L04 with Nougat and updated to EMUI 5.0 OTA.
Been using this update for 3 days now. So far, I have this hate/love relationship with it.
Changes that I like:
-Allows built in call recording (in EMUI 4.1, any third party app wasnt able to successfully record calls and even if it did, the other end was very very low in volume)
-App drawer
-Pedometer on lock screen
Changes that I dislike/hate:
-Notifications when pulled down, won't show more than 1 line. For example, if someone messaged me on messenger or whatsapp, I can only see ONE line of text vs before where I can pinch and drag down to see at least 4 or 5 lines of text.
-system apps are now white in the background. For example clock, voice recorder, calculator now have a "light" background where as before it was a black/dark background. And there is no way to change it.
-notification icons do not show on status bar when lock screen is on, you must unlock phone to see this.
Any suggestions to any of the unlikes above?

My only issue with Floatify as a lockscreen is that there's a delay between when the screen turns on and when it loads. It's not awful, it's just not instant. As a result, I switched to just floating notifications on lockscreen instead of Floatify lock screen.
Do you experience this issue as well?
EMUI have a theme engine, you can use the Material theme to change the look. https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/themes Some themes aren't fully compatible with EMUI5 yet, but try the dark CM14 one for starter.
I distinctly remember if I try to expand the 1 line notification in EMUI 4.1, it lets you 'allow the app' which then lets you expand the notification, not sure if it's an issue EMUI5, it seems fine for me.
Likes:
-It sucked less than EMUI 4.1.
Dislikes:
-It's not stock Android.

Not 100% sure of your problem but I use floating on lock screen as well
I actually miss the pull down with notifications separate from quick settings.
Presses seem to not be registered as well. I feel like I press something and it sometimes takes a few before it responds.

mostly just negatives for me...
- I can no longer reply to messages from notification with Hangouts. Click on Reply launches Hangout instead of letting you reply inline.
- They still did not add back the missing function with Do Not Disturb function. On AOSP, when you turn it on, there's option of having it automatically turn off after a certain amount of time of your choice or when the next Alarm clock goes off.
- Bluetooth with my car is completely broken after Nougat so I had to revert back to Marshmallow.
- Wifi/Cellur data connection seems to take a while to 'wake up' after the phone goes to sleep for a while.
- Google Voice is broken.

Steps to reproduce:
Lock screen and turn off display
Press power button to turn on display
There's a maybe 100-500ms delay where you will see Huawei's default Magazine Unlock lockscreen before Floatify loads. If you've just recently viewed your lock screen, and repeat steps 1-2, Floatify's lockscreen will load instantly.

Unfortunately that doesn't work for those of us with corporate email accounts, screen lock is mandatory, and enforced by the device administration service (in this case Exchange synchronized through Gmail app). I can live with a short delay, it's not a deal breaker since Floatify is a significant improvement over the broken Magazine Unlock, and I only actually use my lockscreen on rare occasions due to the convenience of FPS unlock and screen on.

hmm that sucks :/
In reply to a few things mentioned above, to share my experience:
Bluetooth works fine, seamlessly reconnected to my car after update. (Isolated issue perhaps)
No issues with touch slow downs or unresponsive taps. (Isolated issue -- maybe apps installed with poor Nougat support?)
Eliminating the split notification panel and returning to AOSP Nougat style is a huge improvement. 90% of the time you're 1 swipe away from the content you want, and for the other 10%, you're only 1 additional swipe away. I also use the button configuration that has the notification shade pulldown in the right most nav postion.
While Google Voice may not work, you can make and receive calls through Hangouts using your GV number. For most people, the VOIP aspect is fine, although for some edge cases some may want to use Voice to make calls without a network signal.
Quick reply works for me when receiving and replying to Hangouts messages.
Not being able to expand notifications past 1 line -- I only have this problem so far on the stock Messaging app, I get multi-line expandable notifications for everything else.
What apps are only showing 1 line of text in the notifications?
Hi guys, first post. I am still enjoying the Honor 8.
Couple of niggles since updating to 5.0 that haven't been addressed previously, hopefully someone will have a solution.
1. Using WhatsApp I used to get the profile picture of the person msging me appear in the status bar, this was a cool little touch. Now I just get the standard WhatsApp voicebubble.
2. The app switch "square button" apps now display only vertically, I liked them scrolling horizontally, anyway of changing this.
Thanks all.
The Wifi calling feature is still not available. That is a shame!
The ROG mode is not enabled, even though I can turn the power saving with lowered resolution on in another setting interface. It is just not working as expected. That is strange.
When I use screen off and lock app and unlock using the finger print scanner it now makes me enter my lock screen password. So now I have to use my power button to shut my phone off if I want to wake my phone to the home screen using the finger print scanner.

I can confirm #1, although in my case it was Hangouts and Slack where I was seeing the profile icons. #2 is the way the Android AOSP recent apps have looked since 5.0 Lollipop in 2014, and for the most part even since 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in 2011. Huawei made significant modifications to the recent apps list in EMUI that were largely unpopular with the user base who preferred and was used to the way Recents worked for the past 6 years. You'll get used to it over time, it's a familiarity thing. If you're not used to AOSP or AOSP based ROMs like CM, Lineage, etc, it's a bit of a shock. Most OEMs also kept the AOSP-style Recents (LG, etc) even in their UI skins.
An additional issue I've noticed: When disconnecting from a charger, it always shows a popup with the battery percentage that has to be dismissed via button tap. I can't find a way in settings to disable this, has anybody else found it?
nice to know! still, annoying to ditch my pretty widget!
---------- Post added at 01:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:08 PM ----------
Which themes have the black notification backgrounds because the ones I've tried (via link provided) don't!
I'm on FRD-L04 and I cannot find any screen lock widget I don't think my phone has one. My honor 5x had one but this honor 8 never had one not even when it was marshmallow. What version of honor 8 do you have?
NEVERMIND I found it lol .
Anyway my opinion of the EMUI 5 update is that it is just a little less crappy than EMUI 4.1 The reviews made it sound like it was going to be this game changer when it's basically the same thing with a revamped notification pulldown and a few added features in settings. I really hope that we can get a functional custom ROM for this phone soon but without Huawei helping devs out with the proper stuff I don't see that happening anytime soon.
How long do these roll outs take? I am up to date according to software and still on Marshmallow. I even used the HI app

Showing Home Screen before unlocking (with a pattern or pin, maybe more?)

I've been using WidgetLocker from TeslaCoil Software for years. They sadly have stopped working on it and removed it from the play market. So, I decided to figure out how to show my home screen BEFORE unlocking my phone.
It was actually pretty easy. I think you have to be rooted because you have to change application settings.
1) Download an application settings app
I used the Applications Settings app from Xposed, others might work. You have to be able to let apps show while locked. (Also convenient for note taking on the go).
2) Use said app settings app to change the settings for your Home screen app and let it show while locked.
This lets you get to your home screen by pressing softkeys IF it was that last app you were in. Otherwise it forces you to unlock and then goes to the last used app. Not what we want.
3) Install some kind of lockscreen app that lets you put Shortcuts on the lockscreen. I'm using WidgetUnlocker, I lost it in phone wipe without knowing that it was not in the market and downloaded it elsewhere. I had already paid for it and the developer directly told me that they are not working on it anymore in favor of NovaLauncher. I think that there are other lock screen apps that will let you add shortcuts to shortcuts.
3) In said app, make a shortcut that points to Activities -> (YourHomeScreenAppName/Launcher) -> com.android.launcher2.Launcher
TADA! You can now access your home screen before drawing your pattern or pin by using the shortcut you created. You can interact with folders and widgets on your home screen. However, your pattern unlock will appear whenever you try to click on anything that would switch to another app. I've played with this quite extensively and have only one way to get past the pattern; but, it only lets me change the settings with WidgetLocker. .. So, someone could say, add a email / txt / etc widget to WidgetLocker that would let them scroll through you emails or txts etc. However, they would NOT be able to click and access the whole message. (That requires switching to another app besides your Homescreen/Launcher and hence your pattern lock will pop up.)
NOTE: I am not sure exactly how this will work with other lockscreen apps. I'm guessing that it will work with any app that still lets you use your devices pattern or pin lock. I'm not sure about the ones that make you use their app for a pattern etc lock.
