Speech Input & Output Issues - HTC One M8 for Windows

Hi,
I am using my HTC one M8 for Windows in Europe and realized that neither voice search (holding Search-Button) nor voice output (e.g. incoming texts while on BT-headset) works. I have checked the settings versus my Lumia 920 and found no faulty settings.
Anybody having the same issues?
Has the non-availability of Cortana in the EU something to do with that?
Cheers,
T.

And I seem to have found the solution. Although displayed the phone had not downloaded the relevant speech-files correctly. Checking "speech recognition language" in "speech" settings revealed the correct language was selected but not correctly downloaded. That should solve the issue.
Cheers,
T.

Ms Voice Command problems. Help!

I have some problems with the Ms Voice Command:
I had installed two of the CABs of this program, which I found here in one of the threads:
"Microsoft.Voice.Command.v1.6.21725.cab"
"MSVC-1.0 Control.cab" (for setting the "TFlo3d Phone key" to the "Voice Command Button").
I also set to "Set rate to 1 Slower" and "Increase the volume to 5"
The problems:
1. The play-back/response of the program is very fast and usually can't be understood.
2. When I'm Trying to call by saying a phone number (e.g. "Dial 04-818-2905"), the program don't understand my command numbers and repeats a wrong number.
3. I lost hope and I'm trying to remove the program, but I'm getting an announcement that the program can't be fully uninstalled. Practically the program isn't removed. I made a few reboots, I made reinstall, I set the "TFlo3d Phone key" back to "phone" (it's still functioning as a "Voice Command Button").
Can someone help me with one or some of those problems? especially with removing the program, before I'll need no make a full-reset.
I can help you with number 2: if you're using the US version, you can only use the US phone number format to dial. If you live somewhere else, use the UK version.
if you just want to call people, try using Cyberon Voice Speed dial with BT FIX.
If you need more, I can't be of much help. De-installing goes via settings-applications-remove

I'm certainly trying to uninstall only "via settings-applications-remove".

Using voice command features over bluetooth

I just upgraded from a Sprint Touch Pro to a Pro 2 & found that I can no longer use the voice command features (reminders/ appointments, caller id, etc). These features except caller id will work through the speaker. Has anyone found a work-around until the version 6.6 upgrade is available. In talking to someone at Sprint they stated that they may go straight to version 6.6 instead of 6.5. This version is suppose to have a number of features not available in 6.5. Voice command & the ring/vibrate feature should also be corrected. There were some registry settings that were available for the HTC mogul that worked with the Touch PRO but won't work with the Touch Pro 2.

I also had this issue and what I did to have it seudo working was the following.
I opened up the Bluetooth settings page and clicked on the 1st tab(the gears) then selected the advanced section/audio subsection and checked off the box that states "Play system sounds on remote hands-free device". That gave me the functionality of the incoming call/text message/confirmation alerts over my Bluetooth device.
There are posts everywhere about this feature and tweaks to get not only the bluetooth audio working but as well to get the blue tooth voice recogniziton working. The search feature is your friend.

It's only your friend when you reviewed every document concerning this problem and none of the answers pertain to your software package. Most of the windows based phones of today are using the Microsoft bluetooth stack in which voice command was created around. The new Touch pro 2 phones are using a widcomm bluetooth stack in which VC doesn't recognize so only a few of the features will work (voice dialing on my phone).

Thanks. I tried that one. I'm now able to get my emails & some reminders but no caller id which is the important one.

So search using the term widcomm stacks. At the very least there are a lot of threads about this very issue, maybe there will be some advice that can help you there:

[Q] International Dialing

Having searched this and various other forums I'll see if anyone here can help on this item. I've been using WM devices and XDA for many years and have now had to switch to a Droid 2 Global on Verizon due to work rather than choice. For over ten years I have entered my outlook contacts in the format +XX (YYY) ZZZ-ZZZZ where obviously, XX=country code.
When I dial by contact on the droid it fails and tells me the number is disconnected etc.
If I manually enter the number using this format with the "+" sign into the dialer then it switched the "+" to "011" and dials successfully.
If I create the contact on my phone and enter the "+" sign in the phone number it seems to automatically create a second number entry as "011" as well so it then dials successfully.
The odd part is several colleagues seem to be able to use their existing outlook contacts in the same format successfully.
I have tried switching on and off the assisted dialing and it doe snot seem to make any difference, calls still fail to go through.
I am using a D2G with a stock (but rooted) ROM
System 2.4.330.A956.Verizon.en.US
Android 2.2
Baseband N_01.48.05R
Apologies if I have missed something obvious, I know my way around WM but this is all new. Thanks in advance for any help.
I had a couple of issues with telephone number formats, installing the "More Locale 2" app (available on the market) seemed to fix them.
Mine was more a presentation issue though, I'm not sure if it will solve your dialer problem but it's worth a try.

[Q] HD7 build 7720 talking caller id

Hi!
So I updated to Mango RTM 7720 today and then I tried to follow those instructions here: addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-enable-talking-caller-id-on-windows-phone-7-mango
On my HD7 I have the option for talking caller ID but I have no toggle button. So I can't turn it on.
Does anyone have the same issue?
I tried the search here but it didn't came up with similar threads.
Thanks for any answers!
donots,
Check under Speech in the settings menu. From there you can enable speech recognition over the network, speech when the phone is locked and play audio confirmations.
Hope that helps

Go to Settings and under System, scroll to 'ease of access'. In there, enable 'Speech for phone accessibility'.
Done. The next time you get a call, the phone would say the Name or Number.
Enjoy..
Unfortunately, this option is disabled with german language settings. (7713 and 7720)
exactly, if I switch the phone language to english it works.
hi.I have the same problem as "donots" .I selected English and I still do not appear in the menu on / off button for Talking caller ID for phone calls (Speech for phone accessibility). The problem is that we have Romania SIM and i'm in Germany (roaming) to influence it with something.
Can you help me.
Excuse my English
I am using the english Orange UK 7720 build (the official ROM from the carrier).
My "Speech for phone accessibility" option is there under "Ease of access" but there is no slider button to turn it on/off.
Any ideas on how to get this option to enable?
I have tried English (UK) and English (US) region settings, neither work.
@ sysigy
same problem as sysigy
i had the same problem. i could find the speech for phone accessibility in ease of access but i could not switch it on or off.
i changed my region+language settings to English (US) for both language and region and saved and restarted and it worked perfectly. i could switch the feature on or off with the slider.
then i changed region back to south africa and the speech feature still works. i can still switch it on or off. so i think its only the language that MUST be English (US). English (UK) does not work.

Enabling SMS in your Car through Bluetooth?

I know that the Nexus 5 now supports Bluetooth MAP which enables your car system (I have UVO in mine) to read text messages. I can't get this working however and I'm wondering if the Hangouts SMS integration has somethings to do with it. Does anyone have their N5 transmitting text messages to their audio system in their car?

My bluetooth car stereo has the same functionality and i've never been able to get it to read texts or even give me a notification that I have a text message. Its unfortunate. I know it works with iPhone. The other troubling thing is that the voice dialer on the car automatically pulls up the old decrepit "Voice Dialer" when I'd prefer to use Google Now. I wish there was a way to make it use Google Now.
I just tested it on my Kenwood DNX unit which is supposed to use MAP but no luck, everything except for SMS works.
Do we know for sure that Nexus 5 has MAP profile enabled?

My stereo also uses MAP, but no luck. Are you able to get Google Now instead of voice dialer for voice calling?

Works perfectly on my Ford focus. Are you sending SMS messages? Or hangouts messages. Might make a difference?

SMS option doesn't enable itself. The deck asks for permission to access phonebook and history but nothing regarding sms.

I have had the dnx for 2 years and used tons of phones with it. The only one that the SMS ever worked on was my atrix2. I didn't check with my iPhone 5s, but maybe I will later tonight. So it doesn't matter what app it was doing the text messaging. I think its just a problem with the dnx and most devices.
I never said it didn't work at all for any device with any car.

Just updated my DNX7190 with latest bluetooth firmware from couple of weeks ago. Still no luck, SMS icon is greyed out. I'm guessing these Kenwood units do not fully support MAP.
SMS+CAR App from market works great, I have tried on Galaxy S4 and Nexus 5 without any problem, It can read SMS, Whatsapp, Gmail, voicemail or can auto reply your pre configured message. Hope this helps

We're talking about using SMS on our car multimedia receivers.
Looks like Kenwood is stuck in the past and uses old GSM AT commands instead of MAP. What would be needed is a custom rom that can handle these or an app that could listen for them and respond accordingly.
Seriously SMS not working over Bluetooth
I also can't get the SMS to work over Bluetooth in my uConnect Jeep. I suspect it has something to do with Google Hangout SMS integration. If anyone figures out a work around please reply, I love the Nexus 5 but no SMS integration over Bluetooth is unacceptable. Time to start considering moving back to my S3.
Works just fine in my Honda. Although I hate.

I have my Nexus 5 paired with Garmin Nuvi 3490 through BT. The Nuvi does successfully show text messages stored on the phone.
Garmin's implementation is extremely crash-prone, and text mesage support sometimes disappears without any explanation, but it is a Garmin's problem. The phone seems to function as it is supposed to, i.e. BT MAP is there and it works.
Works fine in my 2013 Civic. I did not have to do anything special after pairing with Hands Free Link.
I hate to bring up an old thread, but has anyone found a way to get this working? I had a Nokia 925 that I upgraded to 8.1 and it would read texts through my Uvo system in my Optima. Since I went back to the Nexus 5, I don't even see the option for the MAP profile in the bluetooth settings. SMS is enabled on my car audio system.
