USB connecting problem. - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys!
I have been using my 1+1 since september. Everything was allright! I have changed rom and kernel many times, so it means that i have got my ADB installed and know something about tweaking a phone. I say that, becouse last time i asked for a help, i heard only simple solutions. I already tried them all.
So, my problem is:
When i connect my phone to PC 1+1 start to charge, but PC can`t see him. I have tryed it on 4 different pc (all windows 8 or 8,1 (64)) and 2 different cables (native and my old one). All PC can`t even find 1+1 in device manager. Ofcourse i have confirmed USB-debugging, MTP etc. This problem suddenly appeared without a reason.
So i used native reset function and now my phone got no Root and Recovery. I don`t know what to do. Any ideas?

Any help. guys?

Still need help

Did you update your SDK?

If you're using the original USB cable that came with the phone try swapping it with a non-OPO cable.

test with another PC?

Two other OPO users had similar issues and it turned out to be the original cable. That is why I'm suggesting a different cable.

I have used another cable and 3 different PC. Still cant find my phone!
updated SDK but it didnt help

Weird. Try uninstall all driver. Then re-install back OPO driver. I think that is not cable issue since you have tried different pc and cable. Hmmm really weird.

@xanthrax need your help on this. Really weird problem. What do you think?
Just need your experience

i`m a bit confuse here
on the first post he says " after reset , no root no recovery"
what`s the status now ?
try pdanet app, it comes with universal adb drivers

i already installed reinstalled uninstalled drivers. i hae tryed all manipulations with drivers
etm my phone has no recovery or root, beacouse i did factory reset (thought it might help). so i cant install another rom (beacouse cant use abd fastboot or recovery)
any other ideas??
maybe its problem with phone usb port

Did you try like what xanthrax said? Try it first then let us know it help or not.
Weird. Charge can detected but not showed up on your pc. Hmm

Use your warranty bro. Goodluck mate !

It happens when one of the pins for data gets f****d up so most probably nothing to do... USB hub replacement
Unrecognized by 4 different pc's and cables doesn't sound good at all

USB Problem on my Inspire 4g( Please help!!)

Hi, all
I got a new inspire 4g last week. It was working fine. But now it does not detect the USB connection. It only charges when I connect to pc. No other issues. I have also noticed that during fast boot mode also pc does not detect the phone as a device. I have tried all the suggestion on xda but no luck.
Please help me to solve this issue. I have seen a lot of thread discussing this issue on HTC Desire. They all suggest to format mtd0 in fastboot mode .But during fastboot mode also my phone is not detected by PC (tried both on linux and win7. Other phones are working on the same pc) , So I could not format mtd0 and reconfigure it.
Can anybody have any other idea? If I change the main board how much cost will incur ??
Thanks all.
EDIT:
I have full access to recovery. Currenlty Clockwork mod 5.0.2 is installed . I can install custom rom without any problem.

Thanks for your reply. But there is no issue with driver because my phone does not detect the usb connection as well as the pc also does not detect the phone as a device ( in device manager in windows or in demesg in linux).
Please help..
Edit:
Today I have tested with another Inspire 4g (My friend is having one inspire 4g) with my pc. It is detected by my pc ( both in linux and windows). Fastboot as well as adb worked like charm. But my inspire is not detected by the same PC..
I have the same problem with my Inspire and yet to find the answer. Have tried everything i could find on the internet except a factory reset. If i cant fix it, will trade off for a Galaxy sii i guess.
I had the same issue a while back. Believe it or not, the USB cable just up and flaked out on me. I bought a new cable and it worked fine afterwards. Of course that was my last thing to check, but I had the cable for about 6 months. I travel a lot, so I think wear and tear got the best of it. It's worth checking...
swap usb cables, also canned air to the usb port on the phone wouldnt hurt
This just happened to my inspire as well. Charge is OK, but no more Mass Storage connection. I have tried on multiple computers and multiple cables. I even reset the phone back to stock and it still didn't work. Oh well. I have a Vivid on the way.

ATT ships an HTC data cable. They do not ship a charge only cable. Most likely you just got a bad cable.
I was following (like an idiot) the instructions for the Advanced Ace Hack Toolkit.
I uninstalled the My HTC phone that was listed in mY Device Manager
64 bit Windows 7 Pro.
Now, no matter what drivers I try to browser for, my computer cannot find a driver for 'Android Phone' when searching.
The HTC Drivers 3.0.0.0.7 installer doesn't seem to do anything, and crashes, saying it's not installed correctly.
Has anyone had this happen, and can correct it?

Agreed with Ago, you likely have a bad cable. please dont confuse new users. I would go back to att and get them to replace it.

First, I would like to know what part of following the instructions causes you to be an idiot?
Second, did you uninstall HTC sync?
Third, I would like to know IF you have tried running the installer as an admin OR if when you run the installer, it has the user account control pop-up asking about changes and the computer (or if you have disabled that through user accounts)
(Oh and I used AAHK's same driver installer on my Windows 7 x64 computer without an issue... sooooooooooooo it's likely a local issue, such as needing to verify the download's checksum, disabling antivirus [something about the first line where in the same section as uninstalling drivers], etc)
AND, a tool like at this page might help a litte... http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/view-the-list-of-installed-drivers-the-easy-way/
or if you wanna command line it...
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...t-of-installed-drivers-from-the-command-line/
No joy my end either trying to install that HTCDriver3.0.0.007 on a Wind'ohs 7 x64 Shuttle
In certificates under options for this installer, "This certificate has expired or is not yet valid" Valid from 11/ 01/ 2011 to 17/ 01/ 2012". Can anyone help me to locate a driver that I CAN install to let me unlock a HTC Desire please?

[Q] Device isn't recognized by the Computer.

Hello everyone!
So, the problem is, when i connect my Nexus 5 into the Computer (via USB cable) the computer doesn't seem to recognize the device...
by "doesn't recognize" I mean not even in Device Manager, The only thing it does is charging up the device.
I tried many things such as:
*Factory Resetting my Device
*Different Computers (one of them is brand new laptop running windows 8.1, another one is normal running windows 7)
*tried to install driver solutions from a Nexus Toolkit
*swapping USB cables / ports on the PC
*Selecting MTP / PTP and plugging / unplugging between
Info:
I'm on a brand new laptop running Windows OS 8.1
My device is rooted and running a flashed zip of Lolipop 5.0
I'm using TWRP Recovery.
I tried looking for a solution in the web including this forum but I can't seem to figure it out.
If by any chance you know the solution to this problem please inform me of it, Thanks alot!

Change from MTP to PTP and see if the device shows up in device manager. Then change it back to MTP and see if it showed up in device manager. If it does on either uninstall what ever driver is installed and reboot computer. Then connect device to PC and see if computer recognizes your phone, if it does let it finish installing and browse to device manager and install the USB drivers put out by google here http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html or alternatively use the naked drivers here http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...r-solves-your-adb-driver-problems-on-windows/
I found that simply plugging and unplugging usb while looking at device manager you can find out what usb it is.
Finally if you could not find out anything above, I had an issue where my usb connection was full of lint from my pocket. The cable was not seating properly inside the phone from the lint obstruction. I could not get the USB drivers or my phone to charge properly. It kept disconnecting and I eventually cleaned the phone with a q-tip and a toothpick, sometime the phone connector could bend so you could try to bend it back, mine has been good every since. I'm not saying shove something in it and bend it/break it. I'm simply saying to lightly clean it or pry it up so that it makes a better connection and make sure that your USB is properly seated.

I had a LG phone driver before that didn't allow my NEXUS 5 to be recognized once before, I think i solved it by connecting my old phone to the PC and uninstalled drivers via device manager. Other than that dude I'd just have to tinker until I figured it out.

Try plugging the phone into a usb 2 0 port if your comp has one. Some people have had issues using a 3.0 port.

It seems like you've tried all the steps i know of. Have you tried plugging another device into the comp to make sure it's not hardware issue on the comps side? You could also live boot an Ubuntu CD and see if it's recognized with a different os.
the problem is due to win usb generic drivers that doesn't work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/problem-pc-t2858740/post55059501#post55059501
follow these instructions then install google usb drivers http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html

Could be the serial bus controller in the comp is bad. If you have a USB stick laying around plug that in and see if the comp detects that. If it doesn't see any external devices its a defective component in the comp.

---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:29 PM ----------
You seem quick to dismiss an issue with your computer. I honestly believe it is the computer drivers. Even brand new there are pre installed drivers on your PC that could interfere with the Nexus 5. Its possible that its registered in the PC device manager as something other then nexus or under something other then USB or portable devices. I've seen this so many times. Its also possible that the phone or USB are malfunctioning but I don't think you've exhausted all options software wise yet.
my computer is a Lenovo brand, I tried everything i know, if you have any suggestions I will appreciate it alot thanks for helping me so far.

Well I tried USB 2.0 ports too it might be the cables although I tried 3 different ones but I'll try to get the one it worked with on another PC...

A bit of an emergency...

Hey there, guys and gals,
I'm having a bit of an issue here, and it's somewhat serious.
The issue is as follows. I have Android 5.0.1 on my Nexus 5. When I connect my computer to my laptop... nothing.
Nothing at all. It doesn't show up in device manager, not even as unknown. Fastboot doesn't detect it, nor does ADB. I can't do anything, and it's scaring me. I don't know how I could have broken it, but I need to know how to fix it.
I'm happy to do whatever to get it working, so please help...
Update: Tried to factory reset, to see if it would fix the issue. It's stuck "Erasing...", and won't go further. I'm afraid my phone may be hard-bricked... Is it possible to reflash these using JTAG, and if so is there anyone that can assist with that process?

Is it stock or what? are you rooted?
Also , keep in mind that the factory reset can take up to 30 minutes.
IMO it sounds like a busted cable/usb port on either side / incorrect drivers.
Edit : JTAG is not possible on our devices , access is locked from the chipset itself.
Are u on Windows 8.1 if so I had a problem with Windows thinking that my phone was a acer and I had to go the driver settings and manually tell it that it was a ADB USB connection then it would connect fine also could be USB cable I found the nexus 5 to be very picky about cables
Sometimes I get that but it solves by going into dev and checking and unchecking usb debugg, but sounds more like a busted usb plug
Have you considered that you may be using incorrect drivers on your PC? This issue can be caused by having improperly installed drivers.

Right. I'll address you all at once for ease.
Firstly, the USB connector functions fine. My USB-OTG cable still allows me to access files on a flash drive.
Secondly, drivers can't be an issue in this case. It won't even enumerate the device in device manager. As if the phone simply isn't plugged in.
Thirdly, Win8 isn't the issue, as I"ve had this phone connected to this computer many, /many/ times.
So it must be a problem within Android 5.0.1
But here's the problem. In order to install anything else, I'd have to install a recovery. In order to that, I need root. In order to root, I need USB. I'm lost, guys...
I just had an idea does towel root work on 5.0 if so u could try that?

Hmm... That might work. I'll take a look. But if it succeeds, then something gets broken later in the process, this thing is a paperweight, right?
Edit: According to http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...29-rooting-nexus-5-towelroot.html#post4125236 Towelroot will never be possible on Lollipop. I didn't go much further than that though...
Ya I just read that to bummer
Edit: as of now there is no way to root without pc sounds like u may have some sort of hardware failure I'm guessing only way to fix is to send it in and that's 150 bucks min

Well... This happened when I updated via OTA (after reinstalling the stock recovery) to 5.0.1 after 5.0. I did this all over USB. Immediately thereafter, it quit. I got it to boot, btw. The erasing problem fixed itself, and it's now running, but the USB is still stuffed. This is sounding more like software than hardware. Almost as if whatever chip talks via USB lost it's own firmware somehow.
Cable or driver 95% sure. Did you try connecting it to a windows 7 /linux pc ? And ... u can never be sure but try connecting to a usb2.0 port. I had those issues when I accidentally plugged my cable in my frontal panel ( usb3.0)
A few months ago I had the same problem, my phone got not recognized by adb or fastboot. I played around a whole day with drivers and stuff like that. At the end I found a post on the internet describing that not all USB cables are able to do adb connections and I should try the original USB cable that came with my Nexus 5. So I looked for that particular cable and hey presto it worked right away.
And 2$ usb cables do break over time. They might still charge , but one cold solder joint and no connection

I've tried multiple cables. I KNOW that this cable is fine for ADB, because it works fine for my other devices. All of them. I may be marked a newbie on the forums, but I'm really not one. When I first signed up for this account I was, but that was in what... '07?
I've tried:
Drivers (Obviously won't work.)
Cables
Rebooting
Factory Reset
Different Computers

Switching USB connection modes
Toggling Dev Mode/Debugging on/off
Nothing works. It HAS to be a software issue on the phone. I don't think anyone read it, but it's almost as if the IC that handles USB connections has lost it's firmware. I don't think that can happen, honestly, so it must be whatever's in the ROM that TALKS to that IC that's causing the issue. Problem is, I don't know how to fix the ROM without USB connection and Fastboot.

Its unlikely that the ROM will be the cause if the USB port suddenly stops working.
Do you have a custom recovery?
If not, then not much you can do except send it in for repair/replacement.

First uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your phone. Get them from Samsung site just to be safe. also try redownloading odin from a different website, could be a bad download. and 'm assuming you have a good USB cable and good USB Ports.
also what model phone are you using? that's in settings--about device--model number

Hi, I'm kinda having the same problem the original poster is having.
My problem is, my windows 7 computers do not see the phone at all, no matter which cable/USB port I use. No beep, no trying to install drivers, no nothing. I'm assuming that unless windows sees the device to begin with... I won't be able to use kies or Odin or heimdall or adb or anything right?

ok, have you checked device manager to see if the phone shows up there? and you're right if it isn't being detected than you can't use it basically lol. I know sucks.
honestly, download the drivers manually and install them. If you're not sure how to check device manager or find the drivers google is you're friend :good: hope you get it working!

Drago, thanks for trying to help me, can't tell you how much I appreciate it bro. Now when it comes to windows, I'm no noob, I actually own a small business going out to people's houses and fixing their computer/WiFi/printer problems. So device manager, yeah I tried "scanning for new hardware" tried and tried, checked and checked, restarted, tried safe mode, tried using different administrator account, nothing. That's when I got this gut sinking feeling, what if something is wrong with the USB port on the phone.
It's a SM-S820L, galaxy core prime. No sound when I plug it in, nothing shows up in 'my computer', no tuh noon sound, and I remember back when the phone was working like normal, I tried to get a picture or two off of it by plugging it in while it was on, I remember it showed up in windows no problem, even without the drivers from Samsung installed. Now nothing happens, even though it says download mode.
I still need your help Drago, don't forget about me

alright well you have one of 3 issues then honestly.
1. phone USB port like you said
2. the PC/laptop USB or..
3.cable or driver issues.
make sure your completly uninstall the phones drivers in device manager while the phone is plugged into the PC. next unplug the phone, restart, reinstall actuall samsung drivers, than try pluggin in again. use a known working USB port also.
sorry I can't give you an answer that's the best I can think of, let me know how it goes!

You can try redownloading Odin and also running Odin as an administrator, that's been the case one in a while. lastly uninstall and reinstalling drivers could help. If this does'nt do it sorry, I'm all out of ideas.
I have same problem with Odin v4.42 and work with Odin3_v3.04,try different version of Odin.

HTC recognition via USB on PC

Hi there.
I have an U11 now and I am quite happy with it.
But there is one problem.
It takes ages till I see the U11 appearing on the PC. USB debugging is on, data transfer chose at the U11, tried several USB connections on the PC tried even another laptop.
Sometimes it is even not showing the phone.
Are here people around who are facing the same problem?
Any solutions?
Thx a lot.
Schuertzi
Yeap exactly the same...
No problem here, each new usb port you connect to loads the drivers and takes a few seconds but after that connection is fast.
Thing that has me peeved is the lack of OTG support. I like to backup straight to an external HDD. No go with the U11.
Tried and waited really long after the drivers were installed. Nothing changed really. Even with using the same USB connection.
May be I did something wrong during flashing TWRP and then the Viper ROM.
Will check and let you know.
Thx
Sxhuertzi
I had the same issue even though i didnt root. I tried on multiple pcs and still got a message saying usb device not recognized. So i returned it and ordered the solar red. I should receive it today and I'll let you know if I still get the same result.
Great, just let us know.
Thx
Hi Guys,
I solved my problem.
I had first the wrong TWRP installed then deleted. Tried then again to install via fastboot. Was not possible.
Then, I installed the official TWRP app from the playstore. Installed the actual TWRP from there. And voila, TWRP installed, rebooted and everything works.
Just for your info. May be you have similar problem.
Schuertzi.
So i definitely had a defective device as this new one connects without any issue.

I can use external HDD and pendrives. In fact, the u11 recognises NTFS even.
