Hello all, I'm a noob when it comes to these things. But i have read a few forums about how to unroot almost any phone and restore factories setting. Like these forums for an exp:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=491350
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073724
and a few others. But what i want to know if will these will work on any phones or is there a special way for unroot a HTC Status/ChaCha phone? and if not i'll follow how they said to do it, and if there is a special way to do so, can you guys tell me clearly how to do it? thanks to all who read this page at lest.
I've managed to install an incompatible kernel on my shiny new phone and can't find any compatible ones.
Please can somebody tell me where to find them? sorry for the newbie question, I've just switched from iPhone...
Thanks
I was trying to root my M8 but somehow ended up derping and wiped my OS. I've look around for solutions and came to the conclusion that I have no idea what I'm doing because I don't know a lot of the terms being used, so here I am asking for help.
Could someone help me reinstall the OS and help me root it properly?
I'm on the T-Mobile network, but I'm not sure which variant my M8 is. I'll provide further information as we go. Thanks in advance Q_Q
Note: I'm a total noob when it comes to these things so please be patient with me

did you get your phone working???
I recently bought an unlocked att htc one m7 and am currently using it on tmobile. After messing with the apn settings i got all the data and mms working, but i still cant figure out how to upgrade it. I downloaded the RUU from htc and tried running that but whenever it starts up the bootloader i will get an error and it will say usb malfunction and then nothing. I also tried to load the rom itself onto the phones root, but when i boot in recovery mode i will select to flash from internal and it will quickly load a few short lines of code that go too fast to read (i think it says failed) and then reboot instantly. Ive been at this for hours and cant find this particular problem anywhere. If anyone can help me, i just want the normal unmodded updates without unlocking my bootloader or turning s-off. Im running android 4.1.2 currently

Wondering if someone smarter than me could answer a relatively simple question: Does the android upgrade to 5.0/5.1 replace your system files. More to the point, if there was a system file that was damaged, would it be replaced by upgrading to lollipop. Thank you sincerely in advance any help in answering this question, as i`ve heard people say one thing and then another. I need someone with knowledge to weigh in on this.
