Call Utils - Floating call notes - "NoteTags", Reject call with an auto message option, call recorder and blacklist
Call Utils is a utility app, serving to give you a hand in multiple phone call related operations.
You can install the app through Google Play Store. Here's the link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=callutils.com.scimet.admin.callutils
PROMINENT FEATURES

• Message the note while on the call.
• Add a note while on the call.

• Option to open up the WhatsApp chatbox of rejected caller.

Draw over other apps - To show the NoteTag during the call. It can be moved, re-sized, closed or minimized.
Read phone state - For the BroadcastReceivers to detect an incoming call.
Run at startup - if call reject is active when you turn off the phone, it will be when you turn it back on.
External Storage - To save the audio files of recorded calls.
Microphone - To record voice calls.
full network access and view network connections - The free version contains ads, which requires network access.
That's all for now. I'll keep the app updated, and hopefully, even have new features added progressively.
Hope you find this app useful.

apk version 1.0.4 has been attached to this post.

Change Log
Version - 1.1.0
- Bug fixes.
- Call Recorder - record incoming and outgoing calls in 5 different formats.
- Removed SMS Blacklist. Android no longer allows non default SMS apps to block messages, as default SMS apps are given the highest priority for receiving messages.
If you use Android 4.3 or lower, you can still block messages using this app. If you would like to have an apk of the previous version of the app which has the SMS blocker, send me an email at [email protected].

This is brilliant. No complains so far. Also, if I may make a suggestion, why don't you add an SMS blocker to the utility bundle?

Hi! Thank you! Glad you like it. It's quite ironic that you mention SMS blocker. That, along with a couple other new features is in works. I'll keep this post updated.

Speech to text for taking notes, SMS blocker, SMS float heads, GPS based call blocking etc. Been contemplating over them all. I want to make this a proper utility app.

I was expecting some feedback from a diversified array of audience. I'd appreciate it.

The app has been updated with SMS blocker and some major UI improvements.
Edit - may take a while to show up on the Play store. Check back in a couple of hours.

Updated. Seems great so far. I'll get back here with more after I've used it for a while.

Just downloaded. Does this replace answering an incoming call, or do I have to run the app every time I answer a call? I'm verifying because I tried it once and had to manually run the app after answering the call. Thanks for this.

I'm not sure what you're asking about, sorry. Is it about the note you're asking? If you've set a note for someone, it pops-up during the call. You can also message the note to the caller, or even edit it.
If you want the note to pop-up irrespective of it being set, select 'show empty notetags' from the settings menu.
If this isn't what you were asking about, please let me know.

No need to apologize. Thanks for the reply. So I have to assign a note to contacts for which I'd want a note? But what if its unpredictable, like I 'may' need a note only depending on the call, not necessarily dependent on the contact. Or from what you said,I should set 'show empty notetags' so a note will always appear, regardless of who is calling? Thanks.

Yes, if you'd like to add notes during calls for callers who do not have note set, make sure you have "show empty notetags" enabled in the settings menu. You can then take notes during the calls for the caller by clicking the pen icon within the note. If you don't have it enabled, the note will only popup for those callers for whom you've set notes.
I hope you're finding the app useful. Let me know if you'd like to see something made more convenient within the app.

OK,I've checked that setting so that a note is ready when id need it during a call. One final one not yet clear is, will a note automatically appear/popup after answering the call? BTW, is the app different from JIT notes? Thanks again.

Yes, it will automatically popup when you answer a call or even make a call.
I haven't checked out or heard of JIT notes. I'll make sure to do that.

Bought the Pro version. Really nice. Any updates on the development progress of the app?

Currently working on a widget. There are a few features planned that will be released in future updates.

If anyone using this has any complains, please leave a comment here. It'll be worked on if it's constructive.

Considering this is a Call Utility app, do you plan on adding a call recorder? Maybe one with a chathead that shows during calls?

What do you think of Google Voice for Android

Google Voice for Android lets you place calls and send SMS showing your Google number. Listen to voicemail and/or read transcripts from the Google Voice inbox. Google Voice account required, currently only available in the US. IMPORTANT: You must open Google Voice at least once after upgrading to route calls. Google’s Google Voice app for Android offers full integration between your phone and the Google Voice system, allowing you to both make and receive calls from your Google Voice telephone number.

There are a lot of reviews on android marke, good or bad. What do you think of it?
Who wants to know?
I LOVE Google Voice, one of the main reasons I bought an android in the first place....
but as the screenshot in the original post depicts - I HATE having my voicemails, missed calls, and text messages all in one 'inbox'.
I know I can go into the menu, go into 'labels', and select the 'text label only', but that is a pain to do every time.
Nothing would make me happier than to find an app similar to the new GV Mobile Plus app for the iPhone.... with a 'bar' at the bottom that easily allows switching between Voicemail, SMS, History, and Settings.
Anyone help finding such an app or utility would be greatly appreciated.
I can't get google voice to work with Sprint..

There a number of benefits:
it allows you to use a second phone #. In my case, I use my Google Voice number as my primary number with friends/family/everything.
The Google Voice number can also be forwarded to multiple phones. For example, when someone calls my number, it rings my cell phone & house phone, as well as my computer, via Gmail. And because the Gmail function works via internet, as opposed to cell reception or phone line, I can use it in my basement for both calls and text messages (which are unlimited)
But the app itself, as I said in my original post, is lacking. It desperately needs updating. while i do use it as my primary messaging application, i really wish it was as intuitive as the GV Mobile Plus application for iPhone

Yep, it's free texting. I gave my Google Voice # to everyone that had my # and now they call and text that #. I no longer have to pay $10 or whatever it is a month to text, which over the course of a year saves $120ish. However, you do lose the ability to send picture messages, but I just upload them to Facebook and tag the people instead.
One thing I like about it is that since you are using your Google Voice # as your primary line it allows you to control if or when you receive phone calls. If I am working on a project and absolutely don't want to receive any phone calls then I can set it to "Do Not Disturb" and it will forward all phone calls straight to voicemail. You can also set it to forward calls to voicemail after a certain time so if you use it for your business then you can have an "Office is closed" voicemail, which sounds much more professional.
Also, one thing I like is that you can setup custom voicemail greetings based on who is calling. I have special voicemails setup for my parents so that when they get my voicemail it says "Hey mom, sorry I missed your call." You can set it up for anyone that way.
At work I constantly have Google Voice up on my computer and use it to text my boss and anyone else. It is much easier to type on my computer than on my phone.
The downside...you have to be mindful that if you call a lot of people on the same network as you then you will be charged minutes. My wife has started using it to call her family and we usually have no issues with our minutes, but since she started using it we almost went over. So we set it to "Ask me before each call" if we want to use Google Voice or our carrier to make the call.
Again, you do lose the picture/video messaging, but I'm okay with that.
Other than that I love it and don't see myself ever stopping using it.
I really wish it was in the UK I would love the chance to use it over here.

I've used Google Voice since it went public and love it. At first, I just signed up so I could get the phone number I wanted (my name) in case I wanted to use it in the future. But I started using it for everything. The pluses have already been stated and reviews are all over the web.
Some things I want to see in the next version:
Ability to separate voice messages from texts (as mentioned above).
Account Configuration from the phone not just the computer.
Ability to send MMS
Most importantly, I want the ability to fully integrate it as a replacement for the standard messaging app so the system and other programs (i.e. vlingo, swift keyboard, etc) can find and use it.
Right now Voice Search does not find Voice messages (major oversight by Google in my opinion).
HTH
I love the capabilities of it. I love having text messaging for free. I hate the app! it's so slow and needs MMS.
I signed up last month. I don't use it much. I wanted it because I had been thinking of switching to a NJ phone number since I moved here from PA 4 years ago. This way I didn't have to tell people my new number who have my old one already. I tried to get my first name as my number, but couldn't. I was able to get a number with the same last 4 digits so it is easy to remember. I Also got it because I wanted to be able to drop text messaging from Verizon. I don't know how to use google for sms instead yet though.
One thing I really like that I didn't expect was using the google voicemail. I love how it transcribes your messages. This way a lot of times I don't even need to listen to the recording. The transription is fairly good. You can figure out what it gets wrong. I also like how I can delete it right from th message screen and not have to use key prompts. I guess it is like what visual voicemail is kind of like, but for free.

It works, you just have to manually configure it. Go to your settings, voicemail, select "Google" for your VM provider and make sure your VM number is in the ph# field. Go onto the Google Voice website and select the option to make Google Voice your primary VM.
Great capabilities & having free text messaging is cool . As mentioned already, the app needs alot of work!

I just installed it, and it's what I've been looking for for the last year or so.
Clean, light and works wonderfully and the pop-up system and layout is perfect too.
Great job!
Edit: You can disable the stock SMS client by doing this;

GO Sms can't disable the stock SMS client, it is up to you to disable/uninstall it. thanks.
See edit ^.^
Love it, just uninstalled handcent
aha, sorry, I misunderstand , thanks for your tips
Works very well, but I'm missing more customization options.
It should be able to fit into the style of my current Android theme, and that's just not possible with this app.
But good start, none the less.
If you disable notifications from within the stock SMS then GoSMS doesn't "sound" when you get a text.
Edit: It seems like no notifications are working.
Motorola Milestone using the leaked 2.2.1 update.
Thanks for sharing!
Looks like a great starting block but just isn't for me.
I loathe the whole speech bubble thing on all the add on sms apps nowadays. Also this looks completely out of place on my black themed 2.2 system.
For me the stock system (all be it slow compared to this app) is nicer to use purely because it ties in with the rest of the android experience.
I will reinstall in a month or so though because this is definitely the fastest SMS app ive come across (Handled a 1000+ SMS Thread easily on my HTC Hero!)
If this had a theme that effectively cloned the 2.2 messaging app but had the sped boost this would be a winner for me.
Also it wouldn't load in pictures from my contacts.
Good luck with the development!
Thanks for your comments, we will add more customization options for future release; It will be soon ,I guest one or two weeks later.

LOL. Thanks for the quote! I actually think it is great so far. I like the pop up and over lightness of the apps. No problems receiving/sending pics or mms. It also seems to sync with Facebook contact right? This is what I've been looking for over the other two major sms app. Nice work overall.
The FC was from the dam gameloft game that was buggy. That's why I don't like them. You get no support or updates on their crap.

[APP] Calls Blocker

Are you tired of that heavy that call you twenty times each day? ::
HOW IT WORKS
With this app you can block incoming calls for:
* Hidden numbers
* Phone numbers (match start of the number, end of the number or complete number)
* All numbers from a contact
You can enter the blocked numbers manually, from the contacts list or from the calls log.
The app support several working modes:
* Accept all incoming calls
* Reject all incoming calls
* Block the numbers/contacts that are added to the list (blacklist)
* Accept only incoming calls from the numbers/contacts that are added to the list (whitelist)
Note that the app is started when the call is received. Due to that, is possible that the system starts the incoming call ringtone before the app ends it. If that occurs, please, create a ringtone with 1-2 seconds of silence and use it.
Also, the app can show the list of rejected calls and much more...

Thanks, bought it, can't stand ads.
Working very good so far , Using Galaxy S5 Duos and working great for both SIM , no ringing is heared while calling just direct busy which is very good since other applications gives a tiny normal calling tone then busy
will support by buying the app , please keep it good and updated
showing numbers by name while picking it from the call log or while checking the blocked call list instead of just the number will be good
ability to hide app icon from app drawer will be good addition also
auto add a number to blacklist if user canceled it for xx times ( if possible to do this feature )
app icon needs another color and a little bit more pro touch for the design
thanks for this great app :good: hoping that it will always working good

Hidden numbers refers to calls that are not providing the from number.
In spanish are "número oculto" and I have translated directly. Please, let me know if in english has other name.
Hey are you the dev for "root call blocker" ?
Hi, couldn't really test the app yet, since I can't add phone numbers from contacts to Whitelist. I always get the message "None of your contacts has a phone number".
Using Galaxy Note 4 with 4.4.4.
P.S.: Also missing a translation when using "Picking a number" - the three options regarding the whole number or only a part of the number are in Spanish.

Are your contacts synced with Google? I'm using the immutable id of the contacts in order to allow backup/restore operations (not jet implemented).
No, I'm not synching contacts with Google (would make to much mess in my phone due to number of google contacts )). My contacts are only stored locally (in the phone) and a copy of them on SIM card. So there is no solution for this (yet ) unless I sync with Google?
Cool no worries just making sure, dont want him to have any of my money.

Can you please add the function to block groups?

@bartito or anyone else used the app - I have a question
What is the blocking method of this app?
Blocks the call at system level. No ringtone or screen wake
Rings for few seconds & then the app rejects it
Picks the call & immediately rejects it

Hi noase,
This is simple... open an image from any other app or from your gallery and share it with Dialer++.
Next you'll get a contact list - just choose the relevant contact and that's it!
Enjoy...

It is possible, and actually very easy to do.
On favorites screen, you can press on extra options (three dots on bottom of the screen), and than choose 'Edit'. Now you can either drag and expand your contacts...
Another way of reaching this mode is through long press on a favorite contact, and than choose 'Change Layout' at the top of the screen.
Enjoy!
Awesome! Thanks!

Fast Contact option is a very convenient option to reach out someone you talk with a lot, like your boyfriend/girlfriend or your husband/wife.
You can call, send sms or open whatsapp conversation straight from your notification bar! No need to open the application, just one click, and the call is done.
Works also when the phone is locked!

Any chance of adding support for Disa? I don't use whatsapp or facebook messenger (hate the added bloatware and battery drain for messenger) so i use Disa. My texts also go through this - this would be the missing feature (chat heads) for me and i would happily get the pro version if you supported this! @Gurjot95

Yes, I will try to add all the messengers that can be supported. If there is more demand for one messenger it will be done sooner than the one with less users. But every popular messenger will be added with time.

Kik is already supported and Textra is already on top of my priority list along with Viber.
I am planning to add new chat styles in the pro version along with new themes. Any more suggestions or requests will be gladly taken as this app is still in early stages. I just hope more people can give their feedbacks so I can get the encouragement to continue with development of this app.

Thanks a lot. I tried adding Viber but reply seems to only work when there is one unread message. If there are multiple unread messages and you try to reply, Viber will crash however though your message will still be sent from my app successfully. I'll see what I can do.

Purchased pro as promised - this may seem like a long list/nag but it's really not, i love the app!
1) Is it possible to replace notifications for the app that is being handled? e.g, for disa, i have now silenced notifications for the disa app (level 1 on Android 7 if you have power controls enabled), and although a chat head appears, it doesn't vibrate, or make a noise so i miss my notifications - possibility to add a feature for this? to get a notification/notification noise & vibration when i message is picked up via your app?
2) DnD Mode - like that it has an override toggle, that's a plus - but it should, in combination with the above, respect Android's DnD Mode - so if my phone is in DnD mode, mute or activate vibrate only notifications.
3) The notification thing again - if your app handles notifications like the above, notifications created would show up on the lock screen and notification bar, and when clicked open the relevant chat head associated with that notification.
4) History. If i restart my phone and receive a text through disa at least, there is no history. If someone texts me back the word "no" i'm thinking - "no what?" until i open the main disa app to check. Could be stored locally on the device encrypted with a backup and restore option for security.
That seems like a long list of things or a nag, but like i said it's not, and i still love the app hence i purchased pro. Happy to support you, and the fact i got a response so fast is great. Keep up the good work man!

Can you please tell me your device name. I also assume your android version is Nougat? My app requires system overlay (draw over other apps) permission so maybe some settings in your ROM is disabling it. If you are getting any error message and there is button to send the error report then please do it.

Thanks a lot for purchasing the pro version. Regarding the issues -
1. There is a settings in my app which lets you clear notification automatically if chathead appears. This will make your phone vibrate as usual when Disa Notification appears but will be cleared itself when its chathead pops up. I think it will serve your purpose. First unsilence the Disa Notification so your phone vibrates and then go to App Settings and enable Clear Notification Option. When this option is checked, you won't need to clear original notification yourself.
2. DND Mode only disables new chatheads to appear for the time you set. So this really shouldn't interfere with Android default DND mode as my app doesn't produce any sounds when ChatHeads appear. Again, I think Clear Notification option will help.
3. I will add notifications on Lock Screen in future updates. It's already in To-Do list.
4. Chat History is important feature too that is reserved for upcoming updates. Didn't wanna rush it since only those messages will be stored that appears on ChatHead. So for example if are chatting in Disa, new message notification from Disa won't be shown because you have already opened that individual conversation and since my app depends on notifications to read messages, those messages will be lost and chat history will be confusing. I have to find a workaround this.
These actually are good questions so feel free to ask more if you have any. I am all up for suggestions. Your feedback is what will make this app popular. Cheers!
Unfortunately not working for me too. I am running Slim6 MM on a Samsung S5 Mini. The testhead is working fine, but no head from any messenger. Granted all permissions and display overlay.
