Tips/Explanation:
1. To make GO SMS as default (avoid receiving two notifications), Open stock SMS, in Settings, disable the Notifications, and in GO SMS's Settings, verify that Notifications option is enabled
2. Warning about “keep getting duplicate messages”: If you installed latest Handcent. It may cause you to receive double messages in GO SMS, please disable “Self-check” under “Retrieve message settings” of Handcent settings
3. If trouble with receiving MMS, please go to the stock SMS's settings, and enable the MMS auto-retrieve
4. For time offset issue, please try: Settings->Receive Settings-> set time adjustment offset
5. To fix message out of order issue for some phones, please try: Settings–Appearance Settings–Sort type of conversation messages
6. To make automatically turn on the screen when receiving message, go to "Settings"-"Notification Settings"-"Default notification Settings", enable "Unlock screen"
7. For privacy, you can use security lock, and you can set "Notification bar privacy mode" in "Default notification Settings"; uncheck “Display message content” in Popup windows settings
8. For individual settings, you can set it through Settings - Individual Settings, or through menu in conversation UI (individual bubble settings are under dev, thanks)
9. You can set signature in "Send Settings", and set individual signature in “Individual settings”.
10. Vote function (Menu –Vote. Please vote for “3 features you would love most to get from GO SMS”)
11. For reminder for unread messages, enable option: Settings–Notification Settings – Default notification settings–Reminder
12. There are two MMS view mode: long pressing the MMS, you can select “View flat slideshow” or “View slideshow”.
13. Messages Group Mode means if two messages’ interval is within 3 minutes, they will be grouped; the second message will not display time.
14. GO SMS support sending message to group: you just need to select multiple contacts (or group) from contact list.
15. “Resend” option is available in context menu for failed messages

I just installed it, and it's what I've been looking for for the last year or so.
Clean, light and works wonderfully and the pop-up system and layout is perfect too.
Great job!
Edit: You can disable the stock SMS client by doing this;
http://www.technipages.com/motorola-droid-turn-off-double-notifications-of-sms-text-messages.html

GO Sms can't disable the stock SMS client, it is up to you to disable/uninstall it. thanks.

See edit ^.^

Love it, just uninstalled handcent

aha, sorry, I misunderstand , thanks for your tips

Works very well, but I'm missing more customization options.
It should be able to fit into the style of my current Android theme, and that's just not possible with this app.
But good start, none the less.

If you disable notifications from within the stock SMS then GoSMS doesn't "sound" when you get a text.
Edit: It seems like no notifications are working.
Motorola Milestone using the leaked 2.2.1 update.

Thanks for sharing!

Looks like a great starting block but just isn't for me.
I loathe the whole speech bubble thing on all the add on sms apps nowadays. Also this looks completely out of place on my black themed 2.2 system.
For me the stock system (all be it slow compared to this app) is nicer to use purely because it ties in with the rest of the android experience.
I will reinstall in a month or so though because this is definitely the fastest SMS app ive come across (Handled a 1000+ SMS Thread easily on my HTC Hero!)
If this had a theme that effectively cloned the 2.2 messaging app but had the sped boost this would be a winner for me.
Also it wouldn't load in pictures from my contacts.
Good luck with the development!

Thanks for your comments, we will add more customization options for future release; It will be soon ,I guest one or two weeks later.

Phone type? android version? and ROM type? we will have a check, Thanks for your comment.

cant find an option to send message when i press enter key

LOL. Thanks for the quote! I actually think it is great so far. I like the pop up and over lightness of the apps. No problems receiving/sending pics or mms. It also seems to sync with Facebook contact right? This is what I've been looking for over the other two major sms app. Nice work overall.
The FC was from the dam gameloft game that was buggy. That's why I don't like them. You get no support or updates on their crap.

The Speed suite of productivity enhancement tools consist of the following useful utility applications designed especially for Pocket PC phone addition users.
1. Speed Search:
This useful utility allows you to locate the contact you are looking for in the shortest possible time even if the list includes thousands of names. Large sized buttons and an intuitive search mechanism allows you to look for a name of your choice by entering the first letter, and if needed followed by the second letter, and the third, if needed.
The utility keeps eliminating names listed till the list narrows down to the name you were looking.
If you are looking for “Jem R Daived” you just enter JRD and it will find it. The first later of the first name and the first later of the second or the last name and then the first latter of the last name is the fastest way of finding a name that I could think of. The program will adopt this automatically.
The Speed Search is ideally suited for Arabic language search where complex names and names which are preceded by AL are searched with great ease. On other world, you could ignore som later in the beginning of the second or the last name
The later in the button can be changed depending on your language. You can change them in the setting under key.
2. Speed Dial/Contact Manager
This utility allows you to create groups like “Friends”, “Family”, etc and assign contacts to a group of your choice. The large-sized buttons make it very easy to select the contact of your choice even with the finger tips of one hand. Especially useful when you are driving.
3. SMS
This tool allows users to do more than what is available in the standard Pocket PC SMS tool. Some of the main features are:
a. You can view incoming SMS messages without word breaks that are normally caused due to line breaks. This is especially trus of Arabic text where the word breaks can cause great difficulty in reading the message received.
b. You can now send SMS messages as Flash messages or as standard SMS to a device’s inbox. A message sent as a Flash SMS ensures your message will not be saved in the recipient’s mobile device. Once he reads it, the message gets deleted. This helps in conserving the PDA memory.
c. Using speed SMS, you can choose to send SMS messages to individuals, or groups.
d. speed SMS also allows you to schedule the sending of SMS at selected time and date. It is useful fore birthday and anniversary.
4. Black & White Lists
a. This tool allows you to assign specific numbers to lists that you can define like a Black List which can consist of numbers which you do not want your device to answer at any time, or a white list fore number you only when to answer.. .
This tool allows you enormous flexibility by allowing you to define a variety of color-coded lists in order to activate any list “group” whenever you want.
The color code is useful since it is viewable on today menu. For example if you chose the black list for the group in which its color red the button in today menu will be shown as:
5. Profiler:
a. Not only does the speed Profiler allow you to choose a profile setting, it even allows you to set the duration up to which the profile should be set. For instance, if you set the profile to silent, you can also set the duration after which the device will revert back to the last profile. This is highly useful particularly when the profile is set to silent during a meeting and you forget to reset it back to the normal setting after the meeting.
b. The ring tone dose not curntly work for Xda I
6. dialer
it is a dialer with:
a. it has a big button to use.
b. You can dial extinction with it and dial a number with extinction in the same time.
c. It gives you a shortcut to in, out, and missed call. Also an easy contact finder.
d. With it you can use the redial, mute , and ring or vibrate when the phone connected
Each of the programs uses the same dialing mechanism which enables you to:
1- do a redialing “ number of time and a time interval between them”
2- when a number is connected the phone will ether vibrate or give a ring or both “ it can be set in the settings”
3- if the phone number has an extinction after it will dial the extinction automatically when it is connected.
4- You have the ability to mute a phone call by pressing a button.
The program is compatible with the xda I & II
All the program are placed as today item
You have to register it in order to activate the trail version. The program has a rather strange mechanism of registration. The registration will send an SMS to my server and the server will send you an SMS which will contain the unlock key. When you setup the program do a reset to your phone and you will see a new today item press the button shown hear:
Type in the space provided this key “9999 9999 9999” and then press the registration key one time only.
Wait for at least 30 minute and hopefully you will receive an SMS from my server containing a key copy it and then past it in the second box and press the unlock button
You can register the program three time only and each time it will give you a 14 day trail period.
Pleas give me a feed back hear
Thanks
Number of people how download the program is:
Now you can register it through internet
have uploaded the program with the ability to register through the internet.
Pleas write the key as “999999999999”
If you are working with one now pleas deactivate the today item of this program and install it in top of the old program
I have down the following changes to the program:
The key the text can now be modify in the settings.
You can chose to send an sms to the the caller place him in the black list or he is not in the white list, given that he is in you contact and he is calling you through his mobile.
In the speed dial if you press any key that contain a number you can now chose to send sms.
The interface is in English
To show my appreciation to ednap I am going to give him a full working version as soon as I launch the full working program.
Thanks

Looks really interesting. I downloaded and installed as per your instructions. Sent the register SMS and received a really long string of numbers and letters as the unlock code. When I copy and paste that string into the second box and tap the unlock button I get an Invalid Unlock Key... error. Tried repeating with a new code but same thing happens.
I'm in Malaysia BTW.

Press the unlock button one or tow time and you will hopefully get this window:
For you, you have to do the step again
Thanks

Like the program a lot.
A few suggestions if I may. If you already have any of these and I have not found them yet I apologize upfront.
Introduce option of skins so that you can alter the appearance of the dialer and search buttons easier.
In the Speed Dial/Contact Manager, Is there a way to limit the left and right arrows at the bottom to the number of screens that are actually edited and in use? If you scroll too far in one direction to a blank button screen you can loose track and not know if you should tap left or right.
In the SMS section is there a way to integrate this with the original SMS inbox in the XDA II? Any SMS's I sent with your application were not saved in the sent folder on my XDA.
Is there a way to allow the user to create and save SMS text strings of common phrases for use in the creating of SMS's? This feature exists in the original XDA II SMS program.
What about an option for small or large button icons in the Today Screen plug in?
Are you planning to include a help file with the retail application? I mean it took me a while to find the configeration setings screen as the same icon that first brought up the registration also brings up the settings and I didn't realize that.
Have you sorted out the trial registration now. The Asia ROM update for my XDA II was released and I'd like to upgrade my ROM but that means I'll loose the copy of your application I have installed.
Ed
Thanks ednap for the suggestions ...
we will come up with these changes ....
Regarding the registration, we are also putting a registration form on web for those whoe find it difficult to register ....
Also a complete help will be available ...
Thanks
A few more suggestions.
Would be GREAT if you could link the group SMS back to the contacts. For example would be very handy if I could schedule to send a meeting reminder SMS to all contacts selected to attend a meeting in my PIM.
Have you considered adding a ringtone module to allow assigning of ringtones to individual numbers, groups etc.?
Would be nice to have the ability to ad a listed incoming call that appears on the dialer to our contacts database.
I really like the profiles and the ability to set a time to end the selected profile. Have you thought of being able to select a profile other than normal profile you want to use after the current profile times out?
In the speed dialer how can you delete an existing entry? I found that deleting the text and then tapping the change button doesn't delete the text on the button. Currently I have just entered a "." as I cannot get a blank button.
Could you add the ability to use the "*" to force a line break on speed dailer buttons the same as you have on search buttons?
Is it possible to resize the phone number category icons (mobile, Office Home etc.) on the search dialer so they can be selected via finger rather than stylus? This would allow them to be used when in a car holder/cradle. It makes it a one handed finger operation which is currently lacking on the XDA II.
When I first tried to delete the Arabic characters from the search keys my XDA II locked up and I needed to perform a soft reset. Not sure if this was because I do not have those characters installed on my PPC as opening the Keys settings tab converted the Arabic characters to gimberish.
Currently in creating an SMS group each group is listed/created twice in the group drop down list.
Very impressed with your application so far. Well Done!
Ed

[APP][2.2+] Busy Me 1.5.3: Automatically silence phone during meetings

Busy Me is a simple, set-and-forget app that automatically sets your phone to vibrate during events on your Google Calendar and returns the ringer to normal afterwards. This is my first app and the idea came from the need to prevent me from being the "annoying phone guy" during meetings at work. It works so seamlessly that at some point, you'll forget it is installed.

Using the "Use Keywords" Feature
1. Add "#busy" anywhere in your event's Description field.
2. Or, add your own list of keywords to look for in the event's Title (e.g., doctor, class, game, etc). Just separate your keywords by a comma and avoid anything that isn't a letter or number.
NOTE: Enabling the keywords feature forces you to use keywords all the time.
What is the difference between a Free/Available and Busy event?
By default, Busy Me looks for events with the "Show me as" option set to "Busy" rather than "Available." When you create an event, it is set to busy by default. You need to set your events to available when you don't mind being bothered. An example is a calendar reminder to feed your cats.
How to set your Calendar events to Busy or Free/Available
Option 1: From your phone:
1. Edit or create an event.
2. Press Menu button > Show more options.
3. Now you will see the "Show me as" option.
Option 2: From your PC:
1. Browse to http://google.com/calendar.
2. Edit or create an event.
3. At the bottom, you will see the "Show me as" option.

- New notification setting
- Fixes potential crash
Just my two cents:
It would be nice to have an option to change to vibrate some configurable amount of time before the actual calendar event (e.g., 5, 10, 15... minutes before), as some events may start earlier than planned, or have a "quiet time" before starting.
Regarding this feature
* Returns ringer to normal afterwards
Sometimes meetings, classes, or other scheduled events run longer than the scheduled time. Perhaps an option to delay returning to normal would be a good idea, or an option to have it NOT return to normal would be good. After all, the first thing most people do after a busy event is check their phone.
When I added the option to go into vibrate mode 5 mins before or after a meeting starts or ends, I tossed around the idea of making this time configurable, but I hadn't made it a priority. I think it's a good idea that I'll add soon. It wouldn't hurt to make the option to set the ringer back to normal configurable as well.
Thanks for the feedback.

Could you make it keyword based as well? #vibrate for example? and #silent if you really don't want to be disturbed.

Is it possible just to pick silent or vibrate. I like the idea of it vibrating before and after an event time, but I would like it silent during my busy time. Also I saw that you called it lite do you have a donation version as well?

The Keywords feature, can you activate the vibration when a certain word is in the event name?
My calendar is closely connected with my work, so when I add a threeletter word in the start followed by a ":" my office phone is transferred to our answering machine.
All my meetings is like this: "MØT: Meeting title". If I could use the keywordfunction to activate vibrate whenever MØT is in the name that would be aewsome!

Right now only the #busy keyword is supported, but I will be adding additional ones. Adding #busy is the equivalent of what you want #vibrate to do. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm working on an option to select whether to go silent or vibrate when an event is found.
Regarding donate version, I don't have one.. yet. I'll add several more features to this version to make it usable by most people. And then some cooler, more major features (e.g., SMS auto-reply) might wait for to be brought exclusively to a paid/donate version.

@sblindheim this is actually exactly what the Keyword option is for. I'm not sure if it will work with your "Ø" character though. Let me know. However, remember that if you use the keywords option, Busy Me will react to ONLY those meetings with those words in the title.
Another option is to have a Work calendar and have Busy Me address events on that calendar rather than using the keyword.

Since I already have my calendars set up this way (I have a specific calendar for my Pilates teaching schedule) this will work well for me, I hope!
Competition is good. I use a different app called "Setting Profiles" that seems very much like this.
How is this different / better than that app?

Busy Me focuses solely on your calendar so it really isn't a competitor to Setting Profiles. Setting Profiles' competition is more less Locale, Tasker, etc apps that manage a lot more settings on your phone under a lot of different "conditions." I personally use Locale.. or at least I used to. It no longer has a free calendar condition (until I make one).
Since you're a Setting Profiles user and it has a calendar condition, how about you try out Busy Me for a bit and share your thoughts?
I used Busy Me yesterday for the first time. It worked, it set my phone to Silent when it was supposed to - but then it kept doing it for the rest of the day. I don't know what would set it off, but I'd hear the bzzzt and my phone was on Silent. I'd switch it back, and it would do it again. Last night it was sitting on the charger, I wasn't touching it, screen was off, and bzzzzzt when I picked it up and checked it was on silent. So I've disabled it for now (I'm not busy today anyways. Do you want me to enable it and try to get a logcat for you?

A couple questions..
What settings do you have enabled in Busy Me?
In the Calendar app's settings (usually Menu button > More > Calendars), do you have any calendars that show "synced, not visible"?
Did you have any All Day events on your calendar yesterday? You may even want to actually look on http://google.com/calendar rather than the phone.
I'm thinking you have an all day event on your calendar and have the "All day events" option checked. Or, you have a calendar synced (but maybe not visible) with your phone which has events.

I have set vibrate early and end later, and I am only having it 'watch' one calendar, my work calendar. All the others are not checked (I have a personal one, and then Astronomy, US Holidays and Birthdays, but they are unchecked. Nothing else is checked.
I have nothing like 'synched, not visible' checked at all. No all day events. I am very careful with my calendar data, I use Pimlical, and need things to be accurate because I base my billings on it (I'm a Pilates instructor, teaching at various studios). The only calendar active in Busy Me is my Pilates work calendar.
@reinbeau - That's strange. I can't duplicate it but I'm trying to come up with a few hunches. If you disable your other calendars except Personal, does this still happen? Likewise, does it still happen with them enabled?

I'll fiddle around with it this week. I really can't disable my work calendar for very long, I need it As far as 'personal' calendar, do you mean 'My Calendar' the one that comes with the Captivate? I never, ever use that calendar. The one I use for my personal stuff is called 'Ann_Name' (my name, which isn't name).

apk version 1.0.4 has been attached to this post.
Change Log
Version - 1.1.0
- Bug fixes.
- Call Recorder - record incoming and outgoing calls in 5 different formats.
- Removed SMS Blacklist. Android no longer allows non default SMS apps to block messages, as default SMS apps are given the highest priority for receiving messages.
If you use Android 4.3 or lower, you can still block messages using this app. If you would like to have an apk of the previous version of the app which has the SMS blocker, send me an email at [email protected].
This is brilliant. No complains so far. Also, if I may make a suggestion, why don't you add an SMS blocker to the utility bundle?

Speech to text for taking notes, SMS blocker, SMS float heads, GPS based call blocking etc. Been contemplating over them all. I want to make this a proper utility app.
I was expecting some feedback from a diversified array of audience. I'd appreciate it.

The app has been updated with SMS blocker and some major UI improvements.
Edit - may take a while to show up on the Play store. Check back in a couple of hours.

Updated. Seems great so far. I'll get back here with more after I've used it for a while.
Just downloaded. Does this replace answering an incoming call, or do I have to run the app every time I answer a call? I'm verifying because I tried it once and had to manually run the app after answering the call. Thanks for this.

I'm not sure what you're asking about, sorry. Is it about the note you're asking? If you've set a note for someone, it pops-up during the call. You can also message the note to the caller, or even edit it.
If you want the note to pop-up irrespective of it being set, select 'show empty notetags' from the settings menu.
If this isn't what you were asking about, please let me know.

No need to apologize. Thanks for the reply. So I have to assign a note to contacts for which I'd want a note? But what if its unpredictable, like I 'may' need a note only depending on the call, not necessarily dependent on the contact. Or from what you said,I should set 'show empty notetags' so a note will always appear, regardless of who is calling? Thanks.

Yes, if you'd like to add notes during calls for callers who do not have note set, make sure you have "show empty notetags" enabled in the settings menu. You can then take notes during the calls for the caller by clicking the pen icon within the note. If you don't have it enabled, the note will only popup for those callers for whom you've set notes.
I hope you're finding the app useful. Let me know if you'd like to see something made more convenient within the app.
OK,I've checked that setting so that a note is ready when id need it during a call. One final one not yet clear is, will a note automatically appear/popup after answering the call? BTW, is the app different from JIT notes? Thanks again.

Currently working on a widget. There are a few features planned that will be released in future updates.

Considering this is a Call Utility app, do you plan on adding a call recorder? Maybe one with a chathead that shows during calls?

Hi noase,
This is simple... open an image from any other app or from your gallery and share it with Dialer++.
Next you'll get a contact list - just choose the relevant contact and that's it!
Enjoy...

It is possible, and actually very easy to do.
On favorites screen, you can press on extra options (three dots on bottom of the screen), and than choose 'Edit'. Now you can either drag and expand your contacts...
Another way of reaching this mode is through long press on a favorite contact, and than choose 'Change Layout' at the top of the screen.
Enjoy!

You can call, send sms or open whatsapp conversation straight from your notification bar! No need to open the application, just one click, and the call is done.
Works also when the phone is locked!

Any chance of adding support for Disa? I don't use whatsapp or facebook messenger (hate the added bloatware and battery drain for messenger) so i use Disa. Yes, I will try to add all the messengers that can be supported. If there is more demand for one messenger it will be done sooner than the one with less users. But every popular messenger will be added with time.

Thanks a lot. I tried adding Viber but reply seems to only work when there is one unread message. If there are multiple unread messages and you try to reply, Viber will crash however though your message will still be sent from my app successfully. I'll see what I can do.

Purchased pro as promised - this may seem like a long list/nag but it's really not, i love the app!
1) Is it possible to replace notifications for the app that is being handled? e.g, for disa, i have now silenced notifications for the disa app (level 1 on Android 7 if you have power controls enabled), and although a chat head appears, it doesn't vibrate, or make a noise so i miss my notifications - possibility to add a feature for this? to get a notification/notification noise & vibration when i message is picked up via your app?
2) DnD Mode - like that it has an override toggle, that's a plus - but it should, in combination with the above, respect Android's DnD Mode - so if my phone is in DnD mode, mute or activate vibrate only notifications.
3) The notification thing again - if your app handles notifications like the above, notifications created would show up on the lock screen and notification bar, and when clicked open the relevant chat head associated with that notification.
4) History. If i restart my phone and receive a text through disa at least, there is no history. If someone texts me back the word "no" i'm thinking - "no what?" until i open the main disa app to check. Could be stored locally on the device encrypted with a backup and restore option for security.
That seems like a long list of things or a nag, but like i said it's not, and i still love the app hence i purchased pro. Happy to support you, and the fact i got a response so fast is great. Keep up the good work man!

Can you please tell me your device name. I also assume your android version is Nougat? My app requires system overlay (draw over other apps) permission so maybe some settings in your ROM is disabling it. If you are getting any error message and there is button to send the error report then please do it.

Thanks a lot for purchasing the pro version. Regarding the issues -
1. There is a settings in my app which lets you clear notification automatically if chathead appears. This will make your phone vibrate as usual when Disa Notification appears but will be cleared itself when its chathead pops up. I think it will serve your purpose. First unsilence the Disa Notification so your phone vibrates and then go to App Settings and enable Clear Notification Option. When this option is checked, you won't need to clear original notification yourself.
2. DND Mode only disables new chatheads to appear for the time you set. So this really shouldn't interfere with Android default DND mode as my app doesn't produce any sounds when ChatHeads appear. Again, I think Clear Notification option will help.
3. I will add notifications on Lock Screen in future updates. It's already in To-Do list.
4. Chat History is important feature too that is reserved for upcoming updates. Didn't wanna rush it since only those messages will be stored that appears on ChatHead. So for example if are chatting in Disa, new message notification from Disa won't be shown because you have already opened that individual conversation and since my app depends on notifications to read messages, those messages will be lost and chat history will be confusing. I have to find a workaround this.
These actually are good questions so feel free to ask more if you have any. I am all up for suggestions. Your feedback is what will make this app popular. Cheers!
Unfortunately not working for me too. I am running Slim6 MM on a Samsung S5 Mini. The testhead is working fine, but no head from any messenger. Granted all permissions and display overlay.
