[Q] [Q & A] Twrp and official rom question , thanx for answer - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi , first of all i have question about official rom - there are some news about oneplus own rom based on pure aosp and there is on the other hand cm11s and update to cm12s connected with it.. so iam really confused if there will be their own oneplus ota or cm12s ota or both.. If here is someone who know it please tell me. thanx
Secondly i want to ask about twrp and its backup - i have few backups and.. if i will install new rom - i want to try temasek based on cm12 can i use only data restore in twrp to restore all my installed apps and others ?? thanx
P.S. i dont really like their own aosp oneplus one rom.. its pure and without any customizations like in cm12.. and thath sucks,i think if there will be only their aosp oneplus rom i will use temasek.. i think all roms based 5.0.2 are 10 miles forward in progress then offi oneplus aosp based rom. thanx

CM12S is most likely not coming due to issues between CM and Oneplus. Altough this could change. Oneplus is currently developing it's own ROM, offcourse this still looks like AOSP because it basically is (except a few additions) at it's current state (alpha). Just stay tuned for their new ROM. I'm well assured it'll get better overtime.

So, that's it, I will install temasek I see.. After flash can I restore my all data (installed data etc..)i twrp recovery? Or should I use titanium backup? Thanx ☺ I think their rom based on aosp will never be like cm11 12 becouse there will not be to much settings and customizations.. Only my opinion, what do you think?

There's actually zero evidence to suggest that CM12S isn't coming, that's pure speculation. The evidence that is available (emails made public by the Indian courts) actually point to this device still receiving updates from Cyanogen.

Can someone answer me to twrp question please?

I won't advice you to restore just the data partition from a different ROM. Instead, use Titanium backup to restore your apps and data from the backup you made with TWRP (Titanium > Menu > Special Backup/Restore | Extract from Nandroid backup).

What will happen to my files when I will flash new rom, Wil they move somewhere? Becouse it's ridiculous that they will just dissappear? What I will have to do with apps data?

[Q] Help flashing from cm10.1.2 to cm11

Hi everyone, please delete if this has been posted elsewhere, I didn't find a similar thread nearby.
I've been happy with cm10.1.2 on my Verizon S3 for a while but am looking to update to cm11 m6. Noticed a couple things and had a few questions if you folks would be kind enough to oblige.
1. Cyanogenmod's built in updater (update types set to "All versions [incl. Nightlies]) only shows me cm10.x stable releases and cm11 nightlies up through february, no cm11 milestones before or since. Is this because of the consolidation of all S3s into the new "d2lte" device category?
2. If so, do I then just update TWRP, download cm-11-20140504-SNAPSHOT-M6-d2lte.zip, and flash away? Is it ok to do a dirty flash from cm10 to cm11 or do I have to do a full wipe (would prefer not to if at all possible)?
Sorry if these are noob questions - I only got into custom roms because I hate Touchwiz *that* much and have only been really learning on an as-needed basis, so I tend to approach new releases with caution. Thanks in advance!

I couldn't tell you why the M6 doesn't show up on the updater (but that's a good idea as to why), but as to the second question.. do a Nandroid backup, then update the TWRP, then wipe, then flash the rom, the gapps then wipe again for fun. Don't do that dirty.. 10.x to 11 would be a bad thing if done without wipe.

[Q] What should I do after CrDroid kitkat?

Hi guys!
I've been away from installing new roms for a while, xt1032 8gb single sim, currently on crdroid kitkat version.
I want to install some 5.02 rom, but I don't know which one. Could you recommend some for a daily driver, non-gamer user, camera good, gps working, xposed working?

i've got two reccomendation
personal preference : android ice cold project
it's up to date with sources, and also adds some features like integrated supersu, slimlauncher, theming engine, and fully customizable quick setting
or if you want to go along with the mass, just use official cm12
though i've yet to try xposed with both of them, i don't want to risk it, since the creator of xposed said that it's still in alpha and therefore may or may not contain unforseen bugs.
I think I'll go with aicp
One more thing, if I make a crdroid nandroid backup from cwm, will I be to go back with cwm restore if I'm not satisfied with aicp?

Several Noob questions about custom ROMs?

Hi guys,
I always read in the Xda forum but never wrote or asked a question...usually someone already asked them.
so I have the Mi 5S PLUS...but I hate the miui UI. can't get used to it. And yesterday I finally found that there are custom ROM for this device.
So I got few questions.
1. As far as i know, the source code hasnt been released but should be released soon. should I wait for a ROM that uses the source code?
2. I see that the most popular costum ROMs for this device are - Lineage and resurrection remix. In terms of battery life, stability and bug free rom. which one is the best?
3. I see there is one ROM with the tag [OFFICIAL]....does this mean it uses the source code? if not, what does it mean?
thanks a lot to those that answer

1. Source code is released but rom based on source code are not released yet .You can use them but their are some bugs,
2.You can check yourself
3. Official means official rom from lineage team or other maintainers just like Global MIUI rom from xiaomi is official while xiaomi.eu is unofficial .
You can check for source in rom page for more info about what device tree and source code it uses

The reason that people don't recommend one over the other is because YMMV. I know I came from a cyanogen ROM with my previous phone and dirty unicorns on the phoen before that (along with a whole set of custom ROMs). In the end though, I found them all to be "similar". Yes, some do some things differently like some offer a lot of CPU governors, while others keep the list pretty tight. Some default with swap space on, some don't use swap space at all (this phone shouldn't need swap space). Sometimes the difference between two ROMs is just the launcher.
For me, I don't really like the MIUI launcher. It feels a lot like an iphone. This isn't a bad thing. Some people like it. I just install Apex (from the play store) and my issues with the ROM were mostly resolved. The only remaining problem is MASS STORAGE. But, based on my experience with mly previous phone, I doubt I'll find a ROM that natively supports it. But I know how to hack my way in and get that going (just need root... which requires an unlocked bootloader... and if I am reading things correctly, you need to wipe everything which I currently not willing to do... but may have found a workaround... going to test it out tomorrow).

Wiping everything is easy, yes, but I want to avoid wiping if I don't have to.
Got the phone rooted without needing to wipe it (yay), but getting mass storage enabled failed on me. I can't seem to write to the file I need to which confuses me... but that is off topic so I'll refrain from boring you with details on that.
Back on topic, if you are switching to a custom ROM you will need to wipe things. I personally would wait for a custom kernel to come out before you start playing with custom ROMs unless the custom ROM has a feature you REALLY want. With my previous phones, the one that had a custom Kernel as well as custom ROMs was a lot more stable and had a lot fewer bugs. The one that had only factory kernel, the custom ROMs were flaky. They mostly worked, but they did have bugs. If I got a phone call or called somebody and they hung up first, it would crash the dialer and the dialer would fail to start again until I rebooted. Now a custom kernel may not have helped that, but since the kernel was based on a previous version of Android, it was unstable.
The current custom ROMs (that I have seen) are all based off of the stock kernel and not newer ones so I personally do not expect to see much benefit in changing ROMs except having different bloat and a different launcher. Well, at lest for the things I use my phone for. But YMMV.

Need a super stable and elder friendly rom for my moto G (osprey) 2gb ram phone

I will be giving it to my mother as her first smartphone and I need to be confident it will work okay for her with minimal tech knowledge needed to fix any issue, can you recommend one?

Can't get much better than the stock rom that comes with it. Can't get much more stable. Why go to custom rom?

No random bluetooth, cellular and wifi driver crashes on this?
Here is the Optimized stock rom for you. You don't need computer to flash it as you can flash it via custom recovery like twrp.

None of them for me.
Try pure nexus ROM,very few app come out of the build and install only what you need.Very stable for me
Stock... You need stock ROM for this situation, it is the most stable and battery friendly and the least confusing. At least they could ask someone who has general familiarity with Android questions without going into menus on Res Remix or AICP or something that would confuse them.
The situation calls for simplicity, stability, and functionality... stock is the best choice. If you don't have your backup, look around here, there are plenty of tutorials on how to go back to stock.
Go with stock rom
I was also looking for a stable ROM for Moto G3 XT1541. Interesting to see all the recommendations here to stay with the stock ROM. My reason for considering a custom ROM was that I've stopped getting system updates: last was around June with Android patch security level 1 April 2017 so I've assumed no more updates are being issued. I'm not comfortable using a system that isn't getting security updates, so is a custom ROM the way to go?
(Hope this isn't considered thread hijacking, happy to post as new thread if so.)
Stock or LineageOS, as they don't have unnecessary customizations.

Need Some Testers to Test Roms

Hello Guys I need some testers to test roms. Who ever is intrested please join telegram group. I need testers Urgently

Hey there, I have a question @Akshar1420 @Topser99. I want to test the ROMs that you have made, but I am daily driving One UI right now, and I don't really want to daily drive a ROM until it is stable, so if I make a nandroid backup, will everything get backed up, even though I am on stock ROM?
