Hi there!
What is the best way to get the videos, with subtitles (.srt), on my TV?
I am trying AllCast (still testing the free version - only 5 min of streaming) in my Apple TV. For photos, it works fine, but for .avi videos, it does not. Is it an AllCast issue with this video format?
I also have a Chromecast, but it is still in the box... I will learn about it soon... Is Chromecast the best option? If so, what are the best apps, or video player, I should have in my Nexus 9?
Regards!
Chromecast is hands down the best way to stream to the tv. Unbox that thing, and get an app called popcorn time.

Chromecast + BubbleUPnP and it's window server to transcode video on the fly + Servioo
For more movies showbox android app
I have to say Plex. I knew nothing about it when I set it up, but instructions were easy to follow. their support forums have some great people to help.
Plex handles and transcodes all my videos, and handles SRT files fine. I also like Plex because it can be used on so many platforms (home computer, tablets, phones, gaming consoles. etc)

Popcorn time has its own streaming built in ie the cast button in the app once the video is playing. That will always be full screen when casted to the tv from within the app. For other video players when casting from the utility built into android l, youll have to change the aspect ratio in your tv settings under pucture section. I hope that all makes sense, i know its a little wordy. Let me know if you have any questions.

No 3rd party app needed. Just make sure youre running popcorn time version 2.4.1 and have your chromecast setup.

Is there a way to rewrite the YouTube program to direct it to other sites? Seems it would just need a way to manually enter addresses.
The Youtube program itself doesn't handle the playback of video, it's just a wrapper that interacts with the special Youtube-specific features like comments and user ratings.
That said, when you visit youtube, you're actually viewing m.youtube.com content, or RTSP/3GP video. This is not FLV video. That means there is no way right now to easily modify the existing software to view other sites unless they have RTSP/3GP content. An example of a non-Youtube RTSP/3GP site would be www.zoovision.com Visit it in the browser and you can watch the videos in the streaming viewer.
By the way an excellent RTSP/3GP site is www.vuclip.com. They transcode content from other streaming video sites into RTSP/3GP.

Android being Open Source Project, is the main reason seems that they have not implemented other other Codecs and Video Streaming Protocol out of the Box,
3GP is Third Generation Mobile Partnership Protocol and Free to use without Patents. I think we only could get other codecs as Addons from Google, but getting it as In built will be a Problem.

3GP is not a codec; it is a container for audio and video streams like how FLV is a container. Android probably has libavcodec or something which can handle most commonly used AV codecs. It can definitely play back H263 and H264.
Interesting !!!
Not sure if the streaming is exactly the same for VUclip, Zoovision, etc.
On Youtube, I get zero frame bleed on GSM or up to Wifi and the vids scale to connection (GSM, Edge, 3G and wifi)
Wifi looks amazing on the G1- as good as desktop view (IMO).
I get a LOT of frame bleed even when using wifi for any site other than Youtube.
The bleed is so bad the vids are not watchable. Very few do not exhibit this issue, but I could
just be unlucky with it.

They already stopped the developing of Adobe Flash for Android. So i quite dunno why you wrote that!? It is already out.
Two weeks ago I hard bricked my LGP920 (firmware update screen) and last week I got a replacement through LG's 24-hour service, but the phone has had a problem from the beginning: I can't play any videos. At least not properly.
I haven't rooted my device, it's running on T-mobile and version v10d.
When I record a video and try to watch it it simply says "can't play video"
The 3D videos that were on the phone were all green and blocky
Youtube videos are also green and blocky.
It doesn't matter whether they're in 3D or 2D
The strange thing is:
I can make pictures, watch pictures, make the videos themselves, play games, do whatever all without any problems.
When recording a video I can see the preview just fine, the playback is broken though...
Sometimes the video recorder (stock) crashes to homescreen right after pressing "stop recording"
I've tried the LG software update, it didn't make any difference.
I've also tried resetting to factory settings from android's recovery menu, no luck.
I cant suggest an answer but I can say that the problems you describe often happen on computers where it needs a specific video codec installed and maybe something is missing on the phone you have.
You could try playing videos with a different player and see if they then play properly, if they do it would suggest a problem specific to the video player I think but other than clearing its cache from the phones settings I cant suggest a solution.

I agree with you that it looks like a codec problem.
I've tried the stock media player, the youtube app and the ES File browser media player. All act the same.
I forgot to mention this:
Sometimes the video recorder (stock) crashes to homescreen right after pressing "stop recording"
Sometimes, very rarely, I manage to record a video that does play, but it will be a black screen with only the sound...
Have you tried resetting it to factory settings? Worth a try before trying to get a replacement best of luck!

So you don't know the solution?
Thats what vlc looks like when playing a low resolution video that it cannot decode properly, which is odd as the picture should be much bigger. If on vlc you go to the menus and click the menu option (second menu from right I think) that says media information it will show you the resolution and codecs used.
It will at least help determine if its a codec (on phone) problem or a recording malfunction. Was the video high definition or 3D?

Just got it. Brilliant app all it needs now is to support actual live streams
somehow xD
Really is amazing tho.
I'm sick and tired of it not only pausing YouTube videos without the ability to resume after locking the screen (iPhone can do this), but also dumping the buffer and rebuffering when you unlock.
Even being able to do something while the live-streaming audio plays in the background or the buffer fills would be greatly appreciated.
Dude I'm sure it'll get a few updates and stuff no need for the complaining.
And iPhone can't do this mate.

Wow. You totally misinterpreted me. I was complaining about something that Android can't do in hopes that someone would do something like it with something like this. iPhone CAN play a YouTube video while locked. It automatically pauses, but bringing up the lockscreen controls will let you resume and hear the audio. It saves battery life and lets you listen with the phone in your pocket without risk of accidental interaction. iPhone will also let you play and hear YouTube while doing other things by using AVRCP Bluetooth or multi-tasking playback controls. I never for a second thought that it actually lets you view the video when you do other things: It only lets you resume playback and HEAR it.

Thanks. I wish Google would see the need. They flush the buffer when YouTube locks so that even unlocking it requires me to buffer again to resume playback! It's "finish now or suffer" with the stock app.
Does anyone know if the Shield is HDCP protected? I'd like to use something like an Elgato Game Capture to capture video.

People have been recording video from the HDMI output, although I believe HDCP will kick in if you try to watch a movie via Google Movies.

I am aware of software / apps that can capture video; however fraps is not available as an android application (as far as I know). Additionally fraps affects your framerate and whatnot when you play, unless you have a really overkill PC.
I'd like to capture video of Android games. There are some apps like Screencast etc that are software solutions, however again they are software based, affect your framerate, and screencast is not currently compatible with Tegra.
Hardware screen capture products (capture cards, elgato, etc) have several advantages over software based solutions like fraps. They don't affect your framerate, and some have hardware video encoding. Elgato has hardware h264 encoding.
If google movies activates HDCP anyway to disable it or should it just be off when the app is closed?
I'm asking because I had no problem recording my games with my avermedia gamebroadcaster HD but all of a sudden i cant record anything not even the homescreen because it says HDCP protected and the only thing I can think of that I last did was bought that free elf giveaway on the play store.
I am not trying to record anything but some emulators which used to work just fine.
Any ideas?
I'm also having trouble recording with a PVR

This is a desktop program that can be used together with Chromecast on Android devices. It is capable of casting any Android screen activity from mobile phone to a Windows PC or a Mac, synchronously and smoothly.
With this tool, you are able to mirror and share your screen with others by the same network. The feature can be quite helpful for those Android users who would like to make some presentations or educational demos, or display an app or a game on a larger screen for better visual effect. Video as well as internal audio can be both streamed without loss, which can be really considerate for casting diversified contents along with sound effect.
Moreover, it is expert in capturing your screen activity and makes it a video or an image, both in high quality. For video recording, there is no limit for duration or troublesome lags and watermarks shown in the video.
Multiple formats are optional such as MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV and GIF, etc. Audio source from system and microphone can be captured respectively or together. And you can also take unlimited screenshots as you like. They will all be saved as PNG files by default.
Key Features:
-No root or USB cables required
-Compatible with Chromecast and Google Cast
-Easy screen cast from Android to computer
-Both video and audio captured without lag
-Multiple output video formats
-Different audio input supported
-One-click HD screenshot
Pro:
No root, no ads, no watermarks or lags. It is totally clean and safe.
It can be used with Chromecast as well as Google Cast.
It offers online and desktop versions. Both versions can run smoothly on desktop.
Cons:
Currently, it is compatible with Android 5.0 and higher versions. So, Android users of lower versions may not access this tool. But this is not certain, some devices with Google Cast can also work well. I suggest you have a try first.
Here are the detailed guidance and video that can be helpful:

Thanks for your use! If you have any question or feedback, please tell me at any time.
Good tool there, I am in need of a mirroring tool exactly. But I don't have Chromecast in my phone. So should I install any other program to access it?
Hi, Adam I think you can access Google Cast in the Play Store first. Then choose "Cast Screen/Audio" item in the app and you can cast your Android screen with this program.
It really benefits me a lot, exactly. It is quite useful for casting screen on Android phones.
Thanks for your use! If you have any trouble, just tell me and see whether I can help you out!
Hi, Nick! I just find it has online version as well as desktop version. And when I use it online, the web asked me to download a launcher. Is it necessary and safe to use?
Hi, BrandyNew! Yes, it needs a simple launcher to activate the online tool. And don't worry about it, it is 100%safe and clean. Just install the launcher and go back to webpage, you can utilize this tool without hassle. Thanks for your feedback and I think most users would have the same question.
And you can use its online version totally free if you want to experience its full features first.
Nice share! I try it on my Samsung Galaxy and play Clash Royale for a try!Wonderful visual experience and it is also suitable for teaching a lesson I guess.
