Unlocked Bootloader - Camera DRM keys used by other apps? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does the Google Camera (or other 3rd party camera apps) use the DRM keys that are lost when unlocking the bootloader for the Xperia Z3 for night shots?
Reason I ask:
I played around with automatic settings for the Sony Z3 camera app, and the Google Camera app, and the shots really weren't that much different. Yes the Sony camera app did a slightly better job, but the Google Camera app was by no means far behind.
Now, my thought process is, if I UNLOCK the bootloader (hence losing the DRM keys which high the night shot algorithms), then we know for sure the Sony Z3 low light capabilities will go down the drain, so....
If the google camera app DOES NOT use the DRM keys, technically, once the booloader is unlcoked the low light shots will be better than the Sony Camera no?
If this is not the case, then the DRM keys technically directly affect the hardware, NOT the software of the Z3 device no? Meaning that once the bootloader is unlocked, ALL camera apps quality will go down the drain.

Google camera does not use the keys, Google this there are tons of articles showing side by side differences...what you loose is marginal plus android L allows raw images.

Autofocus problem

Hi guys,
Since I've bought my XM2, I had some problems with the camera... To be more exact, the autofocus function, or whatever its called. The thing is that when I start the camera app (the default one) all the pictures are blurry, I've tried to install other camera apps, but still... autofocus wont work.
Any help? Will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
No one? C'mon guys...

I have the same problem since the KitKat update. Probably Sony will fix it in future
use the manual mode instead of superior auto. you have more control over focus there
In my old Xperia Neo we had an option for stabilizin the pictures we took. Its symbol was a hand surrounded by waves. If I had that option checked I never got blurry pictures.
It would be great to improve this for our mobiles (I also have the same problem in my M2)
you can use manual focus instead of autofocus. Just set type of focus do you want (touch, face detection) in camera setting

Many problems with Xperia Z3

First I run on stock sony lollipop firmware
1."Camera is temporarily unavailable due to high temperature. Please wait for your device to cool down before you can use the camera".
Well this would be reasonable if it only appear for 10-15 minutes of camera use
But it appear in 1-2 minutes in normal resolution
2.In manual camera mode there's pink tint on the camera
No pink tint in auto mode
3.Weird speaker cracking sound on top speaker
Oh also I live in Thailand and this is the model that have quick charge 2.0
And most temperature would probably be around 35 Celsius
If those problem can be fixed by installing new custom roms
I would be glad to do so but I would like to know what is the pre requirement you should do before installing new roms since from what I search there is DRM stuff which I don't understand yet (coming from Samsung here)
Did you try a hard reset?
Or use Sony PC companion to repair..ie reinstall rom.

DRM Keys ( Data Management Rights ) -They make features like X-Reality and Post-image processing for the Camera to work, basically Sony's Signature , unlocking your bootloader removes them and that also means the features I mentioned won't work. Most users back them up in the case they want to relock their bootloader and return the DRM Keys
------
The only pre-requirements are:
- A Rooted Z3 with custom recovery, either CWM, Philz or TWRP although most come with 2 like XZDR Dual recovery
- Unlocked bootloader depending on the ROM you want to install, if you want non-sony Roms like CM, AOKP or Slimrom then you need to unlock it
I can't guarantee installing a custom Rom would fix all your problems as the speaker problem you're mentioning seems more like a hardware problem than a software problem.
Good luck!
I have all these problems too, i haven't found a way to fix it but you can find my topic for disabling that temperature alert but temperature will rise up to 70 Celsius while recording.

What i Lose if i open the bootloader of my Xperia Z5?

What i Lose if i open the bootloader of my Xperia Z5? Even if i get DRM keys back up. i lost camera quality or sony services, i dont know what happen but i want to root my phone, if someone can explain to me please !!!
If you Back up the DRM keys, nothing!!!
Xperia Lounge (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.xperialounge.services&hl=en) (?)
My Xperia [Sony's security & tracking service] - disable this - otherwise you might have a risk to brick your phone (it happened already (!))
DRM for camera, DSEE HX, etc. all should continue working

Problem with Camera and other stuff

Hi All,
some weeks ago i've performed a "factory reset" due to a problem with the proximity sensor, when i make a call, or listen a whatsapp audio message, screen turn black and didn't switch on again. So, i've performed the rest but the issue is still on, futhermore, some new problems are poped out like:
- impossibility to make a video recording with full hd resolution (Front camera show an high lag rate or freeze image - Back camera work only with vga or lower resolutions and, with vga resolution, have a very high lag rate). If i change the save location, from SD to internal memory, the issue seems to get a lil better.
- With a 3rd part application, like whatsapp, skype or telegram; with front camera is quite impossible to make a photo or video due an high lag rate and a "interference" like a small green or black lines all over the screen, but they are not visible once the photo/video are saved
- Finger print scan senson suddenly stops working, only a phisical phone restart restore the function;
- Of corse, proximity sensor still works bad!
Already tried with another "factory reset" and a "repair" with the companion app, but the issues are always here, any suggestion?
The phone is virgin, no root, no boot loader unlocked, only the battery has been replaced.
Thanks in advance for the support

I have the exactly the same problem after restoring /system and /data partitions with TWRP from one Xperia Z5 to the other exactly the same model of Xperia Z5.
Tried deleting app data from settings -> apps for: camera, camera common & video (Like it is always suggested during instal moded camera apps) but the problem still exist.
When you wipe /data partition using TWRP and phone start setup wizard the camera is working ok like it was before restoring backup from one Xperia to other...

Does a camera app need to know whether the phone has OIS ?

Some phones have OIS while others don't. Camera apps can be installed on almost any phone. So does a camera app need to be informed that a phone has OIS - e.g. by a setting ?
Or, is the image received by camera apps from the phone hardware already 'processed' by the OIS hardware ?
And, is it possible to disable OIS (for whatever reason) ?
