[Q] Please help me make a smart decision - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I'm looking for a 300€ or less smartphone that will last me 2 years a least and ended up with two deals that i found to be under the current price market:
a moto x first gen new for 250€ or a google nexus 5 new for 289€
as i see the nexus is a little bit stronger on paper and probably would get outdated way after the moto x, the only down side seems to be battery life but i think i could live with that if it lasts at least a day
The moto x is cheaper and does have a nice set of perks like better battery life, ergonomics and that motorola notification thingy, my only set back was reading about the amoled display getting burned after months of use and the gossip that motorola by now being owned by lenovo would stop getting updates after lollipop or soon after
In my country i there are no retail stores where i can check either one of the phones so i have to relay on reviews so your input on this matter would help me greatly especially if you have both or a least held them both, If i have to read another review on one of these phones ill gouge my eyes out
Am i way better of in the long run getting the nexus 5?
Thanks in advance

250 is a lot for first gen moto x.

You're better off in the long run making your own decisions and getting what you yourself want; not what people on a forum tell you to get.

I would recommend the Nexus 5

I cant make an informed decision since i cant test either one of the phones since i cant find them in any retail store in my country, i cant even held them in my hand. So before i order one i would like to get some input from people that used them.
Do you use a nexus 5 as your daily phone? Do you like it? Any turn offs besides the battery life?

Nor have all of us here used the Moto X. Asking here = biased answers.

Most of us like it. That's why we continue to own it. Knowing that does not help you. Read reviews of both. Battery life is fine.

I didn't ask you about moto x i asked you if you use the nexus 5 as your primary phone and what your personal opinion on the nexus 5 specifically, i dont get why it has to be biased. The moto x input i can get from their forums i hope.
I thought this was the right place for this kind of questions since everywhere else i get reviews like " i like the white back it matches my shoes". i was hoping i could get more useful input here since people are more informed than the usual user. Maybe i am mistaken or you are just having a bad day or something

What you don't seem to understand is everyone in this forum will say "nexus is best" and everyone in moto x forum will say "moto x is best" so how can that help you make a decision?

You're asking in the Nexus 5 section, how people feel about the Nexus 5. We've already made our decision, hence we have a Nexus 5. The same goes for asking in any device section. I don't see how it helps you make a "smart" or "informed" decision if EVERYONE tells you that the device is great. Of course people will, everyone is different. I could say the Nexus 5 is the best phone ever and you should buy it, but someone in the Moto X section will say the same about the Moto X.
The right place for this kind of question is your own mind. It is only you who can decide what you want.

Yep. Because only the person owning it knows how comfortable they are with:
Budget
feature set
root-ability
custom ROM support
Official update support.
They're the only things that matter. Everything else can be learned from a review. OP should make a list of what he wants and make the decision that way.

So the only thing you have to say about the nexus 5 is that "its the best" you cant pinpoint any ups or downs of owning it like the screen is too big or too small, the screen hard to read in the sun, the cpu is weak or too strong for a daily user that doesnt play games, hard to use it with only one hand, etc. Seriously the only think you have to say is that its the best?
Maybe there is a linguistic barrier and im not making my self clear.
Please forget that i asked to pick between nexus 5 and moto x, since my second post im only asking about your personal experience with the phone.

Essentially the same question. Asking in the Nexus 5 section (or any section) will only really get you replies suggesting a positive experience.

Dude make up your own mind for gods sake, this isn`t kindergarten. Read reviews and look on YouTube for pros and cons of both phones and decide. People are trying to help you here and all you do is complaint With this attitude i hope you`ll get a Moto X.

Yeah maybe i should have been more specific, my bad.
the budget doesn't really mater since they are really close in price, im more concerned about the moto x not being supported for as long as the nexus 5 and the amoled screen getting burned after months of usage. the only downside i see from nexus 5 is the battery from what ive read and the camera not being great( i dont really care im not a photographer) and being slightly to big for one hand usage. And since i dont play any games at all would i even notice the weaker specs from the moto x. would the weaker specs be a good trade off for battery life?
Do you use nexus as your daily driver how do you like it?
Thanks

As I've said, its fine. I like it so I use it.

of course its subjective since i asked about your personal opinion thats what im looking for, the facts the specs i can google them. If you dont want to share your thoughts on the phone thats fine with me. I dont know anyone in real life that owns any one of the phones since you cant find the phone in retail in my country again i can only ask for subjective personal opinions in forums, i cant touch or try the phones i can only see videos or pictures of them and read about their specs when what i want are opinions from users.

To be fair, I'm trying to tell you the same thing as lethargy. Our personal opinions don't help you.

I would never pay 300 for a Nexus 5 in early 2015. I would only pay that price in November 2013.

[Q] Why is Nexus One, Nexus One and Nexus S, Samsung Nexus S?

Notice the xda forum titles for the two handsets? Why isn't the title of Nexus One, HTC Nexus One since it was manufactured by HTC?
This offends me. I bought a Google phone, not a Samsung phone. I thought Samsung was just incidental as it provided GOOGLE with the hardware GOOGLE wanted.
I'd rather this forum be re-titled Nexus S only.
Does anyone else feel this way? If yes, can something be done about this? Do advise. Thanks.
It's a discrepancy, granted, but I can't say I'm offended by it.
Already asked/answered/debated a while back... a little search should find it.
Personally, I agree, it should be the Nexus S forum; keep the various Nexus phones apart from their manufacturers.
I also agree with you.
Well they could have used the original code name that HTC designated the Nexus One with HTC Passion. Now far as Nexus S goes as we all know its manufactured by Samsung so to differentiate they picked the manufacture. Normally this wouldn't have been problem but two companies are at play here so for user to not get confused they put the second one with it.
For example during World War they had no way of knowing that now we would be calling World War I, why? because there was World War II. Same concept here as XDA was mostly HTC based from the start so for folks to not get confused they put Samsung which is what it should be so people know and be warned about the company LOL
How does this offend anyone?
Thanks for sharing your inputs people. Maybe 'offence' is too strong a word for the way I feel about this. Maybe 'unfair' is more appropriate especially since 'Nexus One' as a forum title is out there.

Just want to say it takes about 0.0005 seconds to change a Vbulletin forum title. And 2 seconds to reorganize the boards.
Other than that...
Who cares?

is this video true :(

im a girl that wanted a android phone so bad especially nexus s but this guy review have changed my mind : what u guys think about this ? is there alot of farts apps on market?
here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CZGX5dzcR4
please share if its true what he said cause i need a phone real bad.
being a girl means nothing. this video looks blah, 7 minutes; wont even bother watching this video.
https://market.android.com/ look for yourself. anybody can put a youtube video of their opinions.
if YOU like the nexus s, just get it.. you don't need any of our approvals to get the phone.
i personally like it and so do many of the users here with the exception of the j0hnz troll and some other guys.
if you end up NOT liking the phone, just return it.... its not that complicated.
Just go with your gut feeling. Don't second guess yourself. If you've shown this much interest into the nexus s, then give it a try. Like zephik said, you could always return it. Everyone has their own opinion. Let us know yours.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
The guy in the video is ingrained/invested in iOS. He's used to it. If you've got $$$ invested in iOS apps like I bet he does, I'd probably stick with it too...just like I'm much more likely to stick with Android.
Nexus s is way better than iphone period.
My friends are really jealous about my Nexus s and call it "super iphone" lol.
no additional charge for tethering is a huge plus as well.
Get Nexus S. or wait for galaxy s 2
ya thanks guys ill do that. i have played with nexus s and love the speed and i already have the 3 cases for nexus s but not the phone yet as soon its released april 28th to rogers ill get it
uh this guy is complaining about updates with the nexus s and the iOS app store has SOOOO may crap apps it is crazy. Just go test them both out.

thank you for pointing that out. its funny how she assumes because she is a girl, it will make her special or something. and she keeps pointing it out in every post she makes. kinda sad. lets just hope that people arent posting replies for the sole reason that she is a girl . because thats worse
Ok? I never said im special. Reason I say im a girl so that people can say is nexus s easy or hard to use for girls I have used iphone and don't like it.

We know that you never said that you're special. Humans can imply things without saying them. We at XDA don't condone any prejudice towards any cultures, ethnicities or genders.
I don't see why being a girl would affect a person's ability to use a device. If anything, it should relate towards your personality (a person who isn't tech savvy vs. a person who is)
I just recently got the Nexus S here in Vancouver as well(when it released on April 7th. with the other carriers, and it has only been an awesome experience thus far. I watched the video you posted up until the guy said how he used androids in the past and stuff about how software is not updated. This guy is blowing crap out of his ass, cause he ain't got a clue. Nexus S is pure android and gets updates straight from google, and doesn't go through any manufacturers or carriers. If this guy doesn't even know that then you can pretty much take the rest of his video as a joke cause he clearly hasn't done his research.
As for the girl comment, I agree with Zephik, it really depends on whether or not you're tech savy. And even if you're not that tech savy I'd say Android is user friendly enough out of the box that you'll be fine.

ummmmmmm....don't mean to be rude but nexus s is not a sports where there will be difference between boy and girl. you just discriminated yourself for being a girl by asking if it's easy for girls. is there such thing that is easy for guys but not for girls?
p.s. i'm a dude btw =)
This guy is an idiot. Go to best buy: Try a Nexus S; Try an iPhone 4. If you don't like the Nexus S, buy an iPhone 4. If you don't like the iPhone 4, buy a Nexus S. These decisions are not that hard, regardless if you're a girl or not.
IMO, the Nexus S is a great device, although I am starting to grow weary of it, and have been more curiously looking into the G2x and the Galaxy S II. So, now I would say, if you have ruled out the iPhone 4 as a contender, then decide between the Nexus S, G2x, and the Galaxy S II, and at this point, if it were my decision, I would go with a G2x. If you can wait a few months, go with the Galaxy S II, or wait; I'm sure there will be something new unveiled soon enough. Google apps are amazing, market apps are starting to improve, and once again, this guy is an idiot.
I'll sell you my Nexus S if you want. For a super price. Hahah
sofia-captivate, iPhone is limited gadget. Apple placed users in a certain scope. Android not limited, everything is in your hands.
Android - this's a freedom everywhere & everytime.
iPhone - many problems for your freedom)

The only accurate thing he said was that the Samsung Vibrant didn't get updates, which is a fault of Samsung and/or the carrier modified firmware. The Nexus S is a pure Google device and does not rely on manufacturers or carriers to play with the firmware - all updates to Android are released and made available to all Nexus users.
This guy is a bit weird too...he's almost whispering, moves his eyes/head and hands about as though he's had a few drinks, and goes on too much about how great iOS is over Android. A comparison is fair, his video is heavily biased toward Apple.
Also the Nexus S is a lot better than the Vibrant with better hardware and clean software, so comparing it to a Nexus S is like comparing a Chevy to a BMW. I'm very happy with the Nexus S.
when she mention being a girl, may be she's not a tech savy or she thinks she has small hand for the actual phone, either way the NS is a great phone, used the galaxy S i9000 before, even after rooting it, it slows down very often, all the manufacture crap inside is a bad thing, NS is pure google, NS is fast, theres no competition.

[Q] Sell Skyrocket for Galaxy Nexus? Opinions?

I am really tired of not having much choices of roms for the Skyrocket. Honestly, there is going to be alot of flamers saying yes there are, but seriously c'mon. If there were great roms, users such as myself wouldnt be always searching for a rom thats close or similar to ICS. On another note, Im also sick and tired of AT&T throttling my connection.. I'd rather purchase an unlocked phone such as the Nexus and run the APN through that phone since it automatically forces the connection to stay ONLY in HSPA+. Sure its not LTE speed, but like someone said, whats the point of having LTE with data caps? I am not the type of people who are abusing the unlimited data plan, I am solely using it for Pandora, web browsing, and Netflix. I accumulate around 4-6gb per month. I recently got capped on LTE at 1.5gb... So you tell me, is LTE worth it? Another thing about the Skyrocket that I dont like is that there are wait times for updates to our phone. Samsung lags on updates, yet, Galaxy Nexus, since its an OFFICIAL GOOGLE PHONE, receives updates FIRST before any other device. "TRUE GOOGLE EXPERIENCE" huh?

Hey., here is a thought.. If you can do better.. MAKE A ROM YOURSELF
Hater's always going to hate.. Christ how many threads do we have like this.
Go with that Nexus.. Do you realize 2012 will be bringing quad-core phones and the Note from Att&t. and that "wonder" phone from Verizon will be last years news... Good luck.

You've got a good point. I would make a rom myself if I had the knowledge and the time to develop them. I am not bashing on rom devs, its all constructive criticism. You also failed to realize my main argument was clearly not whether the Nexus is a better phone than the Skyrocket, it was clearly about the data throttling and how we CANT force the network mode to stay in only HSPA rather than LTE. And yes, in 2012, there will be better phones, but did you factor in throttling will always be in effect? So what your phone runs 10x faster and better when your data usage is still capped? Point of this thread is to figure out what is the best phone to use to REMOVE AT&T throttling.. This isnt a complaining thread. Its merely a [Q] regarding throttling and which device is best suited to work around it...
But thanks for the reply.
Yes what he said ^^^^ and let me ad first questions go in q&a and second. Lol puting down the devs means honestly you do not deserve to even use the awesome roms. They work hard on in there free time wth out pay. And let undeserving people use. The skyrocket will have ics. In q1 of 2012. But you should just switch to verizon. Because we do not need this kind of attitude in our forum. Or on xda period. Something to think about. And the trolling threads are becomng agrivating

Sigh.. why is everyone thinking i am putting anyone down. first off, sorry this is in the wrong section. I was unaware of that. Second, I am not trying to put any developers down at all. I am would love to offer my support and help developing roms if I knew how. Like I said, my comments are merely what I am looking for in a rom. I appreciate rom developers taking their time to make these roms and not charge anyone who uses them.. Seriously, your taking all my comments in the wrong way.
I am sorry if my comments came off offensive, I mean no disrespect. I am merely asking a question in data throttling and devices. I am NOT switching over to VERIZON. I am asking about the GSM Nexus Unlocked.. Please read carefully and not add flames to a question thread.

All i am asking for is an opinion on which device you would recommend for my personal use. You guys are bashing without thinking about what the main focus of the question was. Seriously, the thread was made for help. Not to reject peoples thoughts or questions. XDA was suppose to be about a community of people who help one another with questions, development, etc. When did it become so hateful towards people who arent as knowledgeable as others.
Another thing, I've been searching on google for similar topics, but if I found the right answer, do you think I would be posting a thread asking? Seriously.

I cant believe how many of these I dont want my skyrocket threads I keep seeing. especially ones "threatening" to go to a different phone. The gnex is awesome with ics on it but after thats gone (when other phones have it) what are you left with? the razr in a different form. Im not a fan of the 1.2 TI omap at all and can't believe its in such a flagship device. once the sky has ics the only edge youll have is the higher res screen, which at that point Id leave for the skys chip. If you can't do it yourself, donate to a dev and maybe they can configure a good apn setting so you don't get throttled. or just get a gnex and complain about something on that forum
Its all good. Just read your posts carefuly before you post a thread. It seems very much like complaining. Its hard to judge the attitude of people when they post sometimes. So anyway. The unlocked nexus still is a bad choice. Check out the galaxy note or wait a bit and there will be ics roms for tue skyrocket . And as i said there is a ics theme rom in development. That alot of people like. Dont give up your lte. For the nexus its not worth it. It even has less useable screen space. Also not worh the money. When for the same ammount you could have the note. With its massive 5.3 inch hd amoled display. You can get the international version now. But an lte version is coming to att in 2012

Thank you, I appreciate your comment and I will decide to keep my phone. I am sorry if I came off the wrong way. I been searching for answers for my phone issues..
in your posts it seems you just want ics...be patient it will come. Give it some time and if it hasn't come prior to the att note or nexus THEN sell your skyrocket and buy one of those
.don't get an inferior phone just for ics

wait till official ICS, our hardware specs are better, so in theory it should work better after upgrade.

I had pondered the same thing but from what I read and have seen in the marketplace, people are not as happy with the nexus as they thought they would be. I think the hype was bigger than the actual product. I think the Nexus is a great phone but all the secracy and rumors made the phone seem better than the every other phone in the world. The Skyrocket has it's issues too but other than the screen, everything else is can be made better with ROM and the awesome Devs that make every device better and better.
Nexus is a huge scam..
A gold painted turd.
The gpu is old as hell
I'm not convinced battery technology is at a point where an HD display can really be supported. It looks like the Note is doing pretty well, but I've seen a lot of complaints about the gnex. I can attest that the Nitro HD had the worst battery life I've ever experienced...phone went back to the store and they exchanged with no restocking fee.
So, I'd stay sgs2 unless you are willing to lug a charger around everywhere.

What is the best Phone..!!

Hi at all.. well i'm thinking on buy a new phone for me.. so i like read your opinons about the best phones..!! for you..!! i like buy a phone that be the latest but that have a lot of new tools.. I think that the Glaxy Note is great.. but it's important for me know about your opinion because.. your have more experience than I.. Thanks..!!
If the galaxy note is your type of device, then go for it. I personally dont like the screen size. Also, it usually wise to wait a week or two after a release to see how the developer forum for that device lights up, that way you know what kind of support to expect.
Simple answer...
The one you can afford and does what you want it to.
I am not surethat the majority of us use our phones to their greatest extent. Obviously if you need a particular thing use that as a yard stick. Personally I have a sensation - but that was down to some Ebay wizardry and selling my Iphone 4 for a good price. Im sure the desire would have been as useful except for watching streaming movies.
There is no such as "best" phone, what is best for me may not be for you.
Said that, thread closed

Tired of the complaints.

It's a new phone. It will have issues. Get over it. I've never seen so many people complain about something. It is literally the best phone you can get right now. If it doesn't work for you get an iPhone. I love this phone even with the issues it has. They will be fixed. Sorry just my two cents.

It still amazes me that people complain about a new device having issues. This is HTC's new flagship device which has been created from the ground up. It's the first generation of said flagship line and is bound to have issues. Guess no one here had a 2g iPhone. Sure it was amazing, but I also had its short comings.
I returned my HOX cause they didn't have any available for exchange. Going to buy one tomorrow from Walmart. Can't wait to get it back.

I started a thread like this and it was closed in about 5 mins or less. It seems like complaining on here is the norm and not the exception. There are definitely some issues here and there...luckily for me, they don't affect me too much because of how I use the phone. Every phone I have had has had issues...best phone made period. Glad you're enjoying it.

I concur. It's ok to have threads like "Multitasking is a joke on this device", "Who else is returning their handsets?", "Disappointed w HTC QC" etc. but it's not ok to have a thread confronting the complainers. It's true that if you spend money on something and it has issues you're entitle to complain but srsly saying **** like "Im gonna return my HOX and buy an s3" is just plainly redundant. This phone is a complete new direction in manufacturing technology for HTC and the only thing I can chastise them for is the fact that they seem to rush it out, but I can totally understand that it has software/hardware issues. Instead of threatening to return and to buy from Samsung, why dont people just either do it and move on w their lives, or be patient and wait for a solution? Look at the screen flickering issue being incrementally solved as an example. Moreover, the S3 hasnt come out yet so stop it the comparing bs already. Werent the S and S2 plagued w issues upon launch as well?
Mini rant: Samsung hasnt changed their handset manufacturing or design since like forever (really I have a 2008 Samsung f480 or something and it looks reminiscent of the Galaxy line) so it's expected that their handset making process is more refined. It's not fair to compare an old-fashioned design w something as innovative looking as the HOX.
So, you are COMPLAINING about complainers? How is your topic any different from the rest? At least the topics where people complain about issues, helping raise an awareness of the problem, with a hope that the developers will fix them, while topics like this have absolutely no purpose whatsoever.

The great news is that the SGS3 will be in people's hands in less than two weeks. If the launch goes like the i9100, and GN, the comparisons to "perfect" that we've been seeing will suddenly look pretty feeble. As they say, "he who laughs last, laughs best."

There's little constructive conversation in the complaint threads. No one's trying to put their heads together to clarify and resolve a problem. They are ***** fests. The multitasking thread is a great example. 2/3 of the posts are just "OMFG, this is inexcusable" pile ons. And anyone that dares say it isn't bothering them is squashed like a roach.
I agree people need to stop *****ing. Nobody forced u to buy the device. If u don't like it return it. Otherwise stop *****ing.

Its a new phone thread. Give it 2 months and all the trolling complainers will be on to the next phone with an irrelevant quadrant score that is 10% better.

Yep...65 pages of the same people threatening to take their phones back will definitely help raise awareness.

I agree. People can complain for 65 pages about a new phone, but if someone creates a thread about being tired about all the *****ing, it gets closed immediately. The reply by the Mod was condescending and rude, yet he allows other threads to continue. No surprise though, it's the XDA way.

So, what are you proposing about that particular? We should all just shut up, go with the flow enjoy the broken phone? Seriously, one thing is complain about something minor, like theme colors, another is something that makes the phone virtually unusable. The more people complain about such things, the more the manufactures get aware of that, the more chances they gonna do something about. Maybe perhaps we should get another topic where people can vote if they like it or not the multitasking is working?
Topics like this on other hand, has no practical or any other usage. That's my point.

Actually, topics like this help to even out the discussion and see both sides of the story. A casual user would get the impression that the phone was garbage and no one likes it if all they read are complaints. It needs to be known that not everyone is complaining about the phone. The last thing anyone wants is a media blackout.

Seriously?
This is nothing like the first iphone. Android has been around a long time, Android 4.0 is like 7 months old. It's the same camera module from the year old SGS2.
What is so revolutionary? I like mine a lot, it's a slick phone, but it's not that groundbreaking.

Both Samsung and HTC have designed their products to meet the needs of millions of people. Along the way there were bound to be compromises. If any of those compromises don't meet your needs, don't buy the phone. XDA probably represents at most 5% of the phone buying public. For 25% of the 5% to think they can band together and try to make multi-billion dollar companies bend to their wishes is pretty naive. So by all means, have at it but don't ridicule the people that see the futility in some of the complaining.
Some of the features of the navigation system in my car drive me crazy and other members of its forum agree. It would be laughable for a small group of us to flame the manufacturer expecting them to revise the system because we don't like it. But yet, here on XDA, that's a pretty much daily occurrence. I don't like the way the automatic soap dispenser works on my dishwasher. Maybe I should gather up a group of fellow disgruntled owners and spam the manufacturer's Facebook page demanding they change it. If you want to send a message to a manufacturer stop buying their products. That'll get their attention a lot quicker than #neveragain campaigns. The GPS on the SGS (i9000) was in fact with no debate FUBAR. Owners launched the largest social campaign I've ever seen trying to get Samsung to fix it. Samsung never responded. They and Apple now share 90% of mobile device profits. Oh well, so much for that.
I don't know what you guys do for a living but decisions at large companies aren't emotional; they're statistically and financially driven. In cases like Asus and HTC unlocking their bootloaders it wasn't the rallying of the 25% of the 5% that made them rethink their policies. They were probably on the fence to begin with and the positive PR and low financial impact is what got them to change position. A device can easily meet the manufacturers financial objectives even if the entire XDA universe boycotted it. We're described as "enthusiasts" and make up a small but vocal part of the phone buying universe.
HTC's now on record saying multitasking is working as designed. Everyone here is still in their remorse period. You have two choices: 1) return the phone, 2) keep it and hope that since this is now on HTC's radar maybe there may be some future improvement. Option 3, which a lot of people seem to be taking, keeping the phone and *****ing among themselves isn't going to change how multitasking works.
Things like petitions and posting on social sites are fine. They are ways of communicating with the manufacturers and letting them know how some of their customers feel about their decisions. But as with everything, there's a time to call it a day and move on. This isn't a civil rights fight; we're talking about features on a phone. And of our "issues" probably 10% would even be noticed by the phone buying public in general.

The problem here is none of such compromises are publicly available for users to weight their decision with, none of the reviews have mention such crucial flaws, they have some cons about colors in photos or phone being too wide, but nothing that would greatly affect user's experience with phone's usage. Customers will have to experience it themselves, which means they will have to buy it first. (for example LG Nitro HD has defective hardware compass and the only way to know about it to experience it yourself, because nobody is talking about)
In this particular case with multitasking, the only people who's not getting affected by it are the same people who shouldn't buy such phone in the first place, since they just wasting money on something they don't use to it's full potentials.
Also, the same logic as "don't like it, don't buy it" can be applied to the OP complaining about the complainers - don't like it, don't read it, move along. But, it's just does not work in our imperfect world...

On this, you and I totally agree. Part of what makes XDA fun (for me) is the difference of opinion. It's interesting to see what's important to people and how everyone uses their device differently. The battles always start when smart, knowledgeble, strong-willed people all try to get each other to agree. And I've never seen that happen here or anywhere else.
Imagine I'm making a thread like "Who else is not returning their HOX and dont give a **** about the Samsung Plasticky s3". Pretty sure it will be closed so quick my chair still doesnt get warm yet.

No i think what is being said is that these threads dont help other users, they just are meant as a knee-jerk reaction to complaints threads. If you want to do what you are suggesting in your post, then you should start a thread along the lines of "I love this phone and here's why", not "tired of the complaints." That's just a complaint about complaining, plain and simple.
I also started a thread speaking of my problems with the one X and I got a bunch of people whining about my whining which I don't understand. And the point of the thread was not intended to go that route. Anyways I guess alot has changed here in XDA.
