Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, 7" in White with Samsung 32 gb MicroSD card installed. Using video services such as Google Play Movies & TV, VUDU, Disney Movies, etc. to download digital movies to the SD card for offline viewing. Can watch downloaded content offline using service specific apps. Want to view content offline in Samsung Kids Mode. Default Kids Mode video player will not detect downloaded content. Want to use MX Player as third party video app to view movies in Samsung Kids Mode. Kids Mode detects MX Player and will allow me to install it in kids mode. MX Player will not detect any of the movies I've downloaded from the aforementioned services (whether in kids mode or not). What am I doing wrong. Rank Amateur so please use lay terms whenever possible. Thanks.
I'm afraid that all those services use DRM protection, which means that you can view their content only using service specific apps.
Try finding actual video files on SD card (using any filemanager app or using pc) and try to play them - if video players will refuse to do so then it can't be helped.
Indeed, what vivan said. DRM = digital rights management, meaning that there likely are digital locks on the files, which only allow protected/supported apps to access the file.
As vivan said, if you download a file manager app, or connect your phone to your PC, and try to look for the files, perhaps you could find them. Though if they are DRM protected, you probably can't play them regardless.

I have purchased an ePad 2.2 android tablet for my nephew. I've successfully loaded songs and music videos from my iTunes account to a micro sd card. I have been able to play them on the tablet with no issues. I also downloaded a couple of movies but I've been unable to get the movies to play. The odd thing is the file formats for the music videos are the same as the movies, (.m4v). Yet the music videos play and the movies do. I didn't convert any files to different formats. I'm only using the "My Video" app that came installed on the tablet to play the music videos. Yet the "My Video" app won't play the movies. I'm guessing it's because the movies have an index whereas the music videos are just plain videos. Also, to get my iTunes files from iTunes to the 16 gb micro sd card I simply did a drap and drop in folders I created called music, music videos and movies.
I've searched all day and have found nothing to help. Does anyone have any clue how I can get the movies to play? Is there an app I can download? I don't have access to download thru the Android Market. I've been using Amazon.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! U can email me at [email protected]. Hopefully I've included enough info to be helpful. Please ask questions if I haven't.
Thanks so much,
Dgj
The standard video app is rubbish but most video players like mx video player for example will play your files. Just try a few free ones and see what you prefer, you may find some at getjar.com which gives you free apps and is a respected site so you will find a lot of market apps free there.

play itunes videos on Android tablet
itunes videos are drm protected, you have to get a DRmare M4V Converter to help you remove DRM. check this: macobserver.com/weekly-sponsorship/sponsor-drmare/
I am looking for an app that can play both photos and videos in the same playlist from a presentation standpoint so I can hook my tablet up next to a TV and have it stream both to the TV.
Right now the Gallery can do photos and MX Player can do Videos, but I need something that can do both in the same play list. Anyone have any ideas?

So you're basically looking for a media server? I use Twonky. Check out the description, but it should match what you are looking for.
I have only once used the app to stream (via WiFi) a movie from my tablet to a TV and it worked fine. I also have Twonky running on my NAS as a permanent media server to serve all my devices that are connected to my home network.
I will look into it, but not looking to have this need to be over a server.
I am looking for something to simply play a slide show that can go from photos, to video, to photos, etc and have all the files on my tablet and not stored remotely.

I think I confused you. Twonky is just that, it runs on your tablet so the TV (or any compatible media play device) can play/display the files you allow it to access. Twonky will turn your tablet into a media server.
I was only explaining that I have used it only once on my tablet. This was to watch a video that I had on my tablet on a TV via WiFi. So I was not using a HDMI cable to hook my tablet to the TV, which is something different. In addition I tried to explain that I use Twonky for the exact same purpose at home, just not on the tablet, but on a NAS.
I see apps for Twonky Mobile, Beam, Video, etc on there. Which one should I use to display these on my tablet in a playlist/slideshow. I will be attached via HDMI.
It doesnt seem to allow me to put both a video and a photo into the same play list... is that correct?
I think what the OP is looking for is a single application that can play both audio and video content within.
Try QuickPic, its a gallery application similar to the stock Gallery, but can play video as well (says standard video on the page).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder
If you want to create a 'playlist' of sorts, you could create a folder and put your files (pictures, video) inside of it. It should come up as a folder in QuickPic. I'm not sure about the ordering however, you'll have to play with that. Possibly alphabetical, or date modified.
Take a look at BubbleUpnp.
It's a dlna app, and the paid version lets you set up your device as a renderer or a library. Set your phone as the server/library, set your TV as the renderer, et voila...
I've tried loads of options, and this is by far the most comprehensive.
You even have the option to subscribe to a cellular based protocol...

As long as your computer is connected to a network, you may access files on your PC from a mobile device through a wi-fi, 3g, or LTE network.
Simply put, no you do not have to be on the same network to access files.

Sorry if this has been asked previously, I have spent some time looking for a solution.
Due to the Moto G only having small memory (in my case 8gb) and no expandable memory, I was wondering if there is some music / media player that will allow me to view and play my media from Google Drive?
Its a bit of a pain for me to go into the Drive app and scout through everything to find a song which then stops playing if I come out of the app. It would be much easier if all my media in Drive was to show up in a media playing app and play in the background.
So any ideas anyone?
TIA

ES Explorer - It can integrate with Drive (and other Cloud Services and SMB shares) and has a basic music player inbuilt that will stream from Drive, and supports basic playlisting. Alternatively you can send single music files to other installed music players on the device. It has a Picture viewer as well. For video it looks for video players on the device to use as the renderer.
Alternatively you could just use Google Play Music and utilise Google's generosity in allowing you to upload upto 20,000 of your own tracks to the Play Music Server to access via streaming. They don't eat into your Drive allowance either.
Don't want to trust the cloud - set up your own Media Server on a PC/Mac/NAS at home and stream from that. Plex is reasonably OK, but you'll need to invest some time in setting it up and I'm not wholly convinced this is without security issues for your home network.
The google play music manager for my PC is just what I needed ! thanks for that I didnt know it even existed
Ive just transferred all my music from my PC into the manager and now I can access them through the music app! Thank you very much :good:
The Mx player has been recently launched in India. I have installed the same on my phone as well as on my Smart Android TV. I can see the media contents like the Web series etc material on my phone and can play it too. But I cannot have access to the Mx content on my TV through the installed app. The dashboard of the Mx player is missing on my TV. It just says 'No folders found'. To make the matters worse, the contents also cannot be cast on the TV as well. No 'cast' logo is seen on the phone. Am I missing something ? I can play Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hotstar etc like a charm on the TV through the apps which are pre-installed or installed through Google play store. Please let me know how to have access for contents directly playable on TV through the installed app.

We regret to inform you that the standard version of MX Player doesn't support online streaming platform on TV devices. However, you can install our standalone TV app from Google Play to enjoy your favourite shows on your android smart TV / FireStick devices.

My MX PLayer has stopped supporting HW + decoding
Hello, until 2 days ago I was using MX Player without problems on a Sony smart TV with an ARM Cortex-A53 4-core MX Player to play GDrive streaming files in Kodi even if they were heavy thanks to the HW+ decoder. I got a message on the screen that I should update the Codec and it no longer supports HW+ decoding. I have tried to put a previous version of MX Player but it is not solved and I have updated Codec 1.21.0 and 1.10.50 and it has not been solved either.
If someone can help me I would be so thankful.
Hello ,
when i watch mx player live tv news links m3u8 in vlc player,it works well and same time as shown live, but when i put same m3u8 link in my local iptv of my set top box, there is variation of 3 hours,if it is 8 am in vlc, here it comes 11 am.
Please can anyone solve this problem.
With regards
khalid
We wouldn't need streaming live TV if MX player allows us to create our own home screen.
The only thing needed here is FOLDER THUMBNAILS, making folders a rectangle and being able to add shelves to distinguish between movies, series, anime etc. Done
