Hi, I've followed these steps from this forum to root my Xoom with Xoom-Universal-Root.zip. All status screens show "successful" but when I reboot, Root Checker app says I do not have root access. Any ideas? I'm trying to update to KitKat 4.4.2. after this.
Thanks ~Mike
I continued with the update anyway and everything installed successful. Although I now have no sound and the auto-rotate feature no longer works which I posted in a separate thread

Alright so I have a Droid 1. I was originally running 2.1 and was rooted and everything was fine. I found a one click root for froyo so I unrooted my phone and updated to froyo. When the phone was updated I downloaded z4root and rooted my phone and it worked until another update popped up and I agreed to update again. After the new update I had superuser permission still but all Apps that require root failed so I tried rooting again and it says I'm already rooted. I've done everything I can think of and nothing. I do not have a computer so my options are limited. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
hi.
i had a rooted nexus s since 2.3.2

try using an updated superuser and don't use this section of the thread when asking questions..
you should use CWM to flash superSU.
You will need SuperSU instead of SuperUser.

hi all
i installed the 4.4.2 kitkat on my device the indian version
i tried to root it but no luck
i tried this way in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102677
first of all everything seems fine , the supersu installed and can give root permissions
but after a while it can't give permissions
just like there is no supersu
it says the app gets the permission but it can't get it
i dont know what is the problem or 4.4.2 still not get root ?
and if there is another way to root let me know
thank you
more than 90 views and no respones :crying:
ok it dosen't matter. i figure out what is the problem and i solve it
the problem was because the KNOX is installed in the new 4.4.2 kitkat update But it was hidden and you cannot find it in the app drawer
and if you check the app manager in the setting you will find it as KSML
KNOX prevent the root from working and the option that appear when i open the SuperSu app to disable the KNOX seems to be not effective
i tried a lot of things to remove it but i end up with fails every time :crying:
the sloution seems simple just remove knox and you will be ok and the root will works great
but
the problem was how to delete it with no root
i noticed in my device after i flash the root file and install an app that require root the root works on this app just for less than 10 mintues and then dosen't work at all
- so i flash the kitkat room again and turn on the device
- i download the root explorer app from the google play
- root my device
after rooting, the supersu app give force close but i went to google play and update it from there and it works fine
- lunched the root explorer and give it root permission (for me it can take the permission)
- searched about KNOX
- then deleted everything related to KNOX
- again search about KSML and delete it as well
and after that everythings goes right
a installed more than 3 apps that required root and all works flowlessly
and the root cheacker app finally says i succesfuly root my device (before was say a havent rooted my device)
damm it looks easy but it freaks me out to made the root working
KNOX really is a great saftey app but very annoying in matter of rooting
i hope anyone face my problem to try my way and it could works
thanks to me to reply me
Another thing I noticed
the root dosen't work if you change the language from English.
I don't know why???
After update to official 4.4.2, I just flashed CWM 6.0.3.6 with Odin, restarted in recovery mode and installed UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.01.zip in CWM.
Reboot tablet and start SU app; the app detects KNOX and asks to disable it. Just answer yes and you are ready in less than 5 minutes.
I must admit I first used Phil_Z recovery and then SU-app hung when disabling KNOX. After switching to CWM is worked right away.
I have N8010.
Musket Teams have been writing hacking exploits for wifi hotspots using android phones in the kali-linux Nethunter forums. As these exploits only require any rooted android phone not just Nexus, we have come across rooting problems with some models.
Here is a method we used to get an Lava_IRIS_500_Thai_S108_20140827 Kernal 3.4.67 Andoid 4.4.2 rooted
Previously we had rooted this phone using Kingo Root BUT the root was missing some components and supersu did not work properly. When we tried to update supersu the root vanished and the root could not be restored.
We reset the phone to factory - this may not be necessary
The factory reset has supersu loaded
Using a computer we ran Kingo Root. Kingo Root would run up to around 58% and fail. We did this serveral times.
Next we loaded on kingroot_4.1.0703.apk. Got an internet connection thru the phone on wifi and ran the apt. The apt said the root would not work but we tried it anyway.
kingroot_4.1.0703.apk would run up to a certain percent then the phone would reset. Each time we ran it again the percentage of completion rose. Soon it began updating the android programs at shutdown as the percentage of completion approached 60%. Finally at around 60% of completion kingroot stated the root had failed.
We went back to Kingo Root thru a computer and Kingo Root stated the phone was rooted even though King Root stated it had failed. On inspection with Root Checker - The root status was confirmed.
King Root had replaced supersu with Kinguser.
We loaded numerous programs requiring root and all worked perfectly better then when supersu was installed. If you get your phone rooted We suggest you leave Kinguser in place and get on with hacking.

So I have a T-mobile Galaxy S4 and I had recently rooted it. Went to go flash a ROM on it and after I booted the phone up again I noticed that superuser was missing from the app list. I checked root checker and it said my phone was not rooted. Currently running 12.1 CM android version 5.1.1. and I tried rooting the phone again but no matter what method I try the process fails for whatever reason. I tried going into clockwork recovery mode but since I don't have root access it won't even let me do that. Really confused and would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance.
Edit: By the way the ROM is running fine and smoothly. Just don't have root access and can't root.
Hello,
What you need to do is go to settings, about phone, tap on build number 7 times, then go back and go to developer options, then go to root access and pick apps and adb. If it's already picked, disable it and then repick it.
Any more help, just ask HERE in your device's Q&A section.
Good luck!
