problem with audio moto g. - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all!
I have moto g xt1032, i update the software to 5.0.1 through ota 2 weeks ago, in the last 3 days i am having a problem with many aspect of audio in the device.
I have problem with audio during phone calls not me nor the reciver could hear any thing.
I can only able to do it through speaker, more over i cant listen to music without headphoens.
Audio in youtube videos not works, or any other source of audio.
Ringtones work for 2-3 sec and then stops, the notifications sound work only sometimes.
I had the same problem before with erlier software i think kitkat.
I rid of the problem by doing silnce and then full tune, follow reboot, then the problem fixed.
This time i have try to do so but i cant get rid of thr problem, ihave try also get in to safemod but didnt find how, in addition i have try to clear cach partition, but when i enterd to recovery it had a post of "no command.
Could any-one help me what to do? , how to fix the broblem
Thanks in advance .

My suggestion is to flash the stock 4.4.4 GPe firmware and reinstall Lollipop 5.0.1.
To reboot to safe mode press and hold Power Off and select OK, although I doubt that it will fix anything.
Also, are you rooted or have you converted to GPe?
P.S. I'm assuming that you are on GPe and not Brazilian?

Thanks for response, my device is not rooted.
I think its the gpe, if i will root the phone, google continu to send me ota updates?

Could someone please tell me what to do.

It's better that you have not root your phone, since you would have to unroot to update via OTA. Try Googling around to find out how to restore stock GPe firmware (it doesn't require root). I am out of town now so I cannot help you for a few days.

Motorola had a clear vision even before it released some of it's devices - to provide updates faster compared to competitors. Users have complained about problems with the Moto G following upgrade to new android version.
I found this article for potential solutions for a few common problems and issues faced by Moto G owners. theseblogs.com/A9Zw9 :fingers-crossed:

[Q] xt925 Issues

Hello,
I'm living in europe and bought xt925 on ebay. It came from singapour. From very beggining I had a problem with its loudness. It was very quiet on speaker. I'm talking about both music and ringtone. When I set loudness on half I cannot hear almost anything from speaker. When I set it on the maximum it is as loud as my friend's samsung at 1/4.
I cannot send it back to seller because I need it for work. I heard about Engineer Mode where I can change any setting but unfortunately it doesnt work. It popsup with message "Cannot find EngineerMode app". I though it is because it's not rooted.
Downloaded several root tools but none worked. Surprisingly this phone was already unlocked.
Please tell me is it broken or what? What can I do with it? It is so quiet that I cannot hear it when someone is calling in another room.

i got a xt926 recently and this thing is loud specially the default ringtone is very loud, im actually running with little reduced volume.
Don't you have any ideas what to do with it?
Additionally I'm getting popup from 4.4.2 update. I tried to install it but when downloading is done and phone reboots to flash it, it goes to about 3/5 of installation with green android and blue sphere and then droid lays with red triangle and phone reboots normaly. After that on main screen I see window with "installation couldn't be progressed" (I have polish language so I'm not sure what's wrote in english version)
Taking a stock OTA update will always fail if the system has been modified (rooted, stock apps removed, etc). If you didn't restore it to a factory image with RSD Lite after getting it, the previous owner probably did something that is causing the update to fail.
I am total newbie about flashing. I had once Motorola Defy and bricked it so I don't want to build new building because of my mistakes.
Can you tell me what to do ?
I downloaded xml file and tried to flash via RSD Lite but my phone wasn't recognized anywhere in fastboot or without.
you need to do a factory reset if you dont care about any data in or phone, all will get wiped out, I repeat all will be list. Your phone will be as new, then you can take update to 4.4.2 if you wish.
I suggest you read a bit more about unlocking bootloader via Motorola site, rooting xt 925.
All info is available here at xda, please read before you do anything.
My xt925 was already unlocked, when I entered fastboot there is sentence "UNLOCKED"
Additional I cannot access recovery mode, and I cannot root this phone with anything.
Can you execute a factory reset from under setting?
I did it and it didn't help.
you didnt say much of anything man. How did you do the hard reset, was the OTA presented to you, whats the error, what is your carrier......devils in the details dude
As I said I bought phone via ebay from aboard.
My soft is
98.21.22003.XT925.CEE-Retail.en.EU
I have done hard reset with going to settings -> privacy -> factory reset
Right know I'm connected to polish Play Mobile. I don't know exacly code of error because while phone is upgrading to newer soft it stops in 3/5 with green android laying down with red triangle above his head and reboots.
I read many topics and still don't get whole OTA meaning. Is it the factory (original) soft or what?
You need to download few things and flash it up if the prob persist.
Download from sbf page cee ROM,
Rsd lite 6.1.5
Motorola drivers you may or may not have on your pc
Read a bit, come ? with questions if any

[Q] Having trouble with software! Help please

Few days ago I saw this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/guide-convert-brazilian-firmware-gpe-5-t2969472) of converting a regular moto g into gpe 5.0.1. So I followed every step in the guide and finally got lollipop. I was testing it for the next few days and found out that 3G wasn't working. I didn't like it so I deleted the '5.0.1 GPE OTA' zip file (I am a newbie) and ran 'ANY FIRMWARE TO 4.4.4 GPE.BAT' again (I wanted to downgrade to kitkat). After the operation was finished and the phone rebooted, the kitkat was here, but I noticed flashing lines and glitches on the screen (and 3G still wasn't working, now I think it's because of converting to gpe). I don't know how to convey with words, but I am really scared now. After some time glitching stopped, but that was only a temporary effect, because after I rebooted it happened again. After a few minutes I happened to see this system update message about upgrading to 5.0.1. I agreed, and now my system is lollipop again. So now my purpose is to PROPERLY downgrade to non gpe kitkat. Do you know how to do it? Thanks

Random Reboot on Lollipop 5.1

Hi, I've got some random reboots after upgrading on stock Lollipop 5.1 on my Nexus 5.
I've used Android 5.0.1 without any reboots or problem, but after upgrading on 5.1 I'm facing many random reboots when I switch from an app (like a game or Hangouts) using Recents or Home button from NavBar (it also happens randomly when I'm using my phone, like writing a message on Hangouts).
The reboots I'm talking about are not "soft" but "hard", because bootloader's logo (Google) appears and restarts my phone, so it is caused by Kernel Panic (as you'll see in my last_kmsg) and they occured on both stock and custom rom.
Here is a "last_kmsg" when it occured on stock Lollipop 5.1: http://pastebin.com/80dDgzae (attached too).

Flashed Android 5.0.1 and no random reboots (as I also said when i wrote my first post).
I don't know if the "question" is clear, but can you help me reading the "last_kmsg" which I attached in first post? Thanks
Same exact thing happening to me also.

The same is happening to me. And it looks like a hardware problem cuz when the phone reboots it keeping reboot until I keep pressing the power button while boots.
I have a bad experience about it. In my Nexus S when updates to Jelly Bean the same occurs until phone suddenly die. (I live in Brazil so, guess what? I have now a wonderful paper weight)
No luck with 5.1.1
You guys found any fix?
I was waiting for 5.1.1 update from Google (5.1.1 code is already available on AOSP and I tested it on Chroma), but unfortunately it didn't solve this problem: it keeps rebooting after a long daytime doing the same things I already wrote in first post. I'll wait for factory Google factory images, but I'm pretty sure it won't fix this.
P.S.: I tested Chroma on 5.0.2 bootloader and modem.
Anyone can read "last_kmg" I posted in first post? Any other has the same trouble?

I just flashed ElementalX kernel but no luck, random reboot happened on 5.1.1 too. By the way it was quite obvious because it happened already on 5.1 Google's factory image (stock kernel so)..
I have exactly the same issue with nexus 5 since upgrading to 5.1.0.
I went back to 5.0.1, which solved it for a few days, but now this happens with 5.0.1 as well.
also, before random reboots happen, the power button becomes extra sensitive, so one keypress causes the screen to turn on and off again, or to display the shutdown menu.
this does not happen when the phone is stable.
Hey guys i have the exactly same problem since i upgraded to 5.1.1 i am non-rooted please need help

Same here.
LG Nexus 5 - Lollipop 5.1.1 LMY48B
Unlocked bootloader;
Rooted;
ClockWorkmod 6.0.4.5 (not flashed - just boot on image when used);
Wipe factory reset (in cwm). Flashed 5.1.1 image files (boot, radio, bootloader, system and cache).
Random reboots, and sometimes with apps optimizing.
I have the same problem with N5 since upgrading to 5.1.1 - never had any problems before. Doing it several times an hour now. Trying a cache clean next, after I wait for the optimising apps to finish yet again!
Hi all,
I had the same problem. Everything stock, up to datÄ™, no root. Phone was rebooting itself several times in a row.
Right now it seems that problem dissapeared. Reboots in my case was caused probably by application Autoguard Dash Cam Blackbox. After removal no reboots for 2 months and no memory leak.
cleared cache and it happened again within a minute...
Does seem to be linked to the power button
There's a long thread about this issue over at Google Groups. It's affecting a lot of users and not just Nexus 5 users. Some in the thread are 4 and 7 users having the same issue. Some have replaced the battery and it has resolved the issue, at least temporarily. Others, like myself, saw success in rooting and replacing the kernel or using a new ROM. Users who have downgraded to Kit Kat report the issue goes away, so despite the power button triggers, it seems to be a software issue. Anyone have any insight? It's getting feisty in Groups thread.

I have N5 kit kat 4.4.2 in Chrome watching videos randoms reboot its happens
This is happening to my fiance's N5. It happens when she's using it and also when it's not being used. When it reboots, it optimizes the apps and says the battery is at 0 when it was a full charge. Only way to turn it back on is to connect it to a charger. Frustrating.
FYI the update to 6.0 did not solve the restart problem. It's either hardware related, app related or a bug that's still in the OS.
I'm selling my Nexus because of this, has been happening for a few months now.
It's not software related, it has to do with the actual power button. Some people had success changing it out, soldering it etc., but I don't have that time or knowledge.
Google wouldn't help, as I'm out of warranty. So I guess it's goodbye Nexus. Really unfortunate given that the phone works fine, it's just a quality issue.. will have to re-evaluate buying another Nexus in the future.

[ROM][4.4.4] GPE - The Liberty Way

Hello,
I'm using this rom, and like it very much..
Just one thing, my phone keeps asking me to update software to android 5.0.1
It keeps poping up. I tried it once (wich I think isn't a great idea) but my phone just reboots into recovery (TWRP). The only thing I can do at that point is to reboot system, nothing is changed after the reboot, I'm just back to 4.4.4. Then later the phone starts asking for the update again...
Does someone have a solution for this?
Thanks,
Jan
I've installed this rom recently and as far as I can say the update is useless because it's for htc one m7. On the update screen it says that they want to update the one m7 and it happens in my opinion because this rom is ported from one m7 or something, idk I think the best solution would be to sumply ignore the update notification and live life as usual. If I come up with any solution I'll notify as soon as possible :good:
Playback pause
Hey, I've came up one more problem using this rom - my music playback pauses randomly. On the rom forum some guys said they have the same issue and as a solution they use poweramp music player where the issue is gone for them. The problem is that my poweramp is also broken as other music players my in-call audio is fully working because I have applied fix zip mentioned in the main forum. Maybe the problem occurs with music playback because of the fix zip? I'll try to re-flash rom and see if the problem still exist.

How do I update a rooted phone from Lollipop to Marshmallow?

Hi. This is my first time owning an Android phone so please bear with me. Also, English isn't my first language.
I got this phone as a gift, an SM-G920F. And it already has SuperSU in it when I got it. Which means it's already rooted if I'm not mistaken. I'm liking the phone and hoping to know more about it.
Anyway I discovered that you can only change the media volume with the rockers when a video or music is playing. And it defaults to ringtone otherwise. Same thing happens when the media pauses in the middle of playback. But I never change my ringtone volume. It's either on, off, or vibrate.
So I browsed the web for fixes. And found this app called Rocker Locker. I tried it but it was a huge battery drain, so it wasn't a permanent fix. I also found out that this behavior was changed in Marshmallow. Having the rockers change media volume by default.
Tried to check for OTA updates. But it said something about phone being modified. Which was lucky, because I've also read not to take OTA updates while rooted.
Long story short. How do I update from Lollipop to Marshmallow in a rooted phone?
Thanks so much guys!

You can update it using Smart switch, even if your device is rooted smart switch helps you to upgrade the same, google it by typing Smart switch, you will get it and also note that if your device gets updated to Marshmallow, you will be unrooted.

Hey thanks! Will I encounter problems updating thru Smart Switch if the phone was modified with some kernel or a shoddy root?
And are there ways to root Marshmallow? I mean, I can see that there are posts about rooting Marshmallow but are these methods stable?
Thanks again!

You are welcome mate, nope you will not encounter any issues if you update via Smart switch, if something goes wrong you can always download firmware from sammobile and can flash it using ODIN (simple), still many people are waiting for Marshmallow update so proper root method is not available I guess, what I can suggest you is wait for some more days let's see if some one comes up with Marshmallow root method

Cool! You're right. There might be a few bugs left also. So I'm just going to wait for a couple more days.
Thanks for the advice.
