For some weird reason, the tablet thinks it has 805 MB of RAM. I went into the about tablet page and it shows as 805 MB. I also went into task manager and it shows that 400 MB is in use and 400 MB is free. I am pretty sure the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 has 1 GB of RAM. Is there something wrong with my tablet? I'm running Cyanogenmod 11, so Android 4.4.2. It would be great if I can get that 200 MB of RAM back. Any help would be appreciated.
I never got more than 810MB

The EVO 3D is basically the same phone as the Sensation with the addition of 3 extra Gb of RAM. The spec sheet for the Sensation on HTCs site lists 4Gb of RAM with a note that only 1Gb is user accessible.

I remember when T-Mobile's version of the HD2 came out and it had 768 Mb of RAM vs the 512 in the European HD2s and there was a way to unlock the remainder of the RAM with a hack for the Euro models.
I'm sure given HTCs track record that they've used the same hardware (makes sense) to cut down on costs so it's just a matter of a hack from the community to unlock the remaining 3Gb of RAM.
What say ye?

I guess you mean ROM and not RAM...and I've read that it is not possible...
Sure just buy a couple of DDR3 sticks and jam 'em in the microSD slot.

No, said RAM, meant RAM....
You can do the research, I was going by memory but it actually had 1Gb of RAM vs the 448 in standard HD2s. The Euro HD2s had an unlock that at least gave them 576 Mb, I'm guessing the same will be true here.

As you said in your first post, the Sensation is listed with 768 MB RAM, 4 GB Internal Storage (1 GB user addressable). Some of the 768 is then used for Android and Sense, with the remainder being open to run other applications. The 4 GB with 1 GB user addressable is NOT RAM. RAM is volatile (non-permanent) memory that is VERY fast and used to store the data for a currently running process. The user addressable space is non-volatile and is used for permanent storage of applications, contacts, photos, etc. It is not possible to use this as RAM as it is flash memory instead of using capacitors like the RAM found in cell phones (which provides the speed needed).
Some of the remaining 3 GB might be open in the future after the bootloader is unlocked and custom ROMs are flashed as they would be less memory intrusive than Sense. This might also free up some extra RAM from system use, but there is no possible way to increase it beyond 768 - whatever vanilla android requires to run.
This question may sound silly, or stupid (or both, in fact ).
TF should have 1024 MB of RAM onboard. Or maybe 1000, if it's not square Gigabyte. However, application info shows that active services currently own 215 MB, cached processes 322 MB, and free memory (from Elixir) is 277 MB. So the grand total is 814. Also, Elixir shows that I have only 728 MB total...
Where the hell is rest of my (okay, not mine but TF's) memory? Is it some 'restricted' or 'core process dedicated' memory? Or maybe I'm just fooled by software or manufacturer's claims.
Just curious of this little quirk.
Pretty sure its dedicated to/for the GPU.
And the Android core system (The Dalvik VM) uses memory too, and it just doesnt show it to everything else when booted.
A lot of the ram is partitioned for the system use so that's where it is

Thanks! Was expecting something like that, just need to be sure.
its being used to run the os
the Dalvik VM, OS and all of that comes out of the 768MB that is allocated, (I think it is actually a little less that 768 cause of the nvmap memory too) 256MB of ram is dedicated to the ULP GeForce, that is where all the ram is
I have a karbonn A15, it is a good phone with android 4.0.4 and promises 512 mb ram, yesterday i checked my ram and found it to be only 396 mb. pls help me, i want to gift it to my dad(it is new), but after seeing the ram, i don't feel like presenting it. any ideas? and i can't return it as i bought it for a distant place on vacation..

Sad, but that's the truth. Only 396MB RAM!
That RAM does a decent job, if lot of apps is not installed.
Ram is 512 mb but some of it is used for graphics processing..I guess......it is a decent phone I'm currently using it with no problems

Truth hurts !! Slow Mobile ..if many App installed but awesome if less...
On GSMarena (and everywhere on internet) I saw that Xperia Miro has 512 MB of RAM, but every app (like Watchdog, Go Launcher) that I used shows 401 MB of RAM. I have STOCK Android, no root. Is 111MB of RAM used by OS or it's something else?

The memory figure for anything (RAM, HDD, SSD and what not), is only an approximation. During production of these memory devices, the actual value is almost always less than the figure given by the OEM. Having said that, the OS may have certain uses of the RAM but are not displayed on the task manager.
The carrier may limit the ram, I know the HTC dream was limited to 384mb by tmobile

Approximation of by 10% is very lousy approximation. On PC if you have 3GB of RAM you have ~3GB of RAM, not 2.7GB of RAM but memory figure for HDD and SSD are shown in TB but they are really in TiB (TB=1024 GB and TiB=1000 GB, ...). Does on your phone, your RAM memory figure is smaller in task manager because of OS?
Hi People!!
I have a silly question. I have seen in the Clean Master app, that the mini has 780 mb Ram . According to the specifications the mini has 1 GB.. Can anyone explain to me why I can see only 780 Mb instead of 1 GB? Take the Rom the rest of the ram until 1 Gb? Is there a problem in my mini? or is it normal?
Thanks in advance for your answers!!
rest is for system processes or some bull****, but in all honesty, i don't think the One Mini has 1GB either.. since the amount of ram left after a clean install is bare minimum..
Hi @sausje85, thanks for your answer. It's a pity to know that the phone doesn't have 1 GB ram. [emoji22]
