It won't work on TW based ROMs as you need *qmg files.
This one works great on Albe95 ROM 2.0!

Hi!
I've done this with S2 here, it is time for S4 (i've tested only on I9505).
You can install using CWM. This will delete the stock messaging app and install the CyanogenMod app. Do a backup first!
1) Download from here.
2) 'Install from a zip' in CWM Recovery.
Done.
If you want to restore the stock app, you have to do the same thing with this zip. This will delete the CyanogenMod app and will reinstall the stock Samsung app.
Or you can install manually (old way).
1) You have to download Mms.apk (or you can use your, if you have cm10.1 installed, go to system\app and simple copy it)
http://d-h.st/6O4
2) With root explorer (or any other file manager, i've use es), copy mms.apk into 'system\app' in your Stock Rom.
a) You have to remove the stock messages app. You can use titanum backup (do a backup first!!) to remove it.
3) Set permission to rw- r- r- (like this http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/8...3030213355.png )
4) Reboot your phone
Done!
For any question, write below!
BUGs:
1) The widget, it doesn't show the sms using the order of time of received message, but it uses the time of the start of the conversation, so the list will be always the same (but it will show the last message for every conversation)
2) MMS doesn't work.
THank you so much. i really appreciate your effect. awesome job.
Can you please port CM10 dailer app to samsung stock rom too??
It will be like a dream come true

Nevermind. I figured out it was called SecMms.apk insted of mms.apk. I dont really know why is that, but renaming it to SecMms.apk and substituting, worked fine. Thanks guys!
Hi everyone, I'm quite new to this forum (well posting ofc). So if I did anything wrong please instead of giving insulting replies which will teach me nothing, just PM or remind me here. I'll appreciate it.
After I got my GNote and flashed AmniX's Custom Rom, I wanted something else as bootanimation.
Since i'm a major AC Fan, I have decided to port the bootscreen I've used from my Animus PC Interface and put it here.
Screenshot IS Located at the Attachments
This bootanimation will work with any kernal that supports it.
But this will NOT work with ROMs that uses .qmg file as their bootanimation instead of a .zip file. (eg. Stock ROM)
WARNING - DO NOT FLASH THIS IN RECOVERY
Steps in installing:
1. Download the zip file,
2. Copy the zip file into your internal storage of your phone or the external SD card.
3. Using a root explorer or browser, navigate to system/media
4. Make a backup of your bootanimation.zip located in there (Just InCase it does not work for you) and remove it from the system/media folder. - IMPORTANT
5. Copy the bootanimation.zip that you have downloaded into system/media
6. After you have copied the zip file into system/media, change the permission of the zip file to rw-r--r-- (thanks projeto56 for mentioning)
7. Reboot and enjoy your new bootscreen.
Just a heads up, IF the bootscreen did not work, you will have a BLACK SCREEN during bootup, its nothing and it will still be running, just without an animation displaying there.
I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPEN TO YOUR PHONE. READ THE INSTRUSTION CAREFULLY BEFORE DOING IT.
Nice one
You should also mention about the permissions of the bootanimation file. They should be rw-r--r--

There were no boot sound since I don't know what to put there, so its not just you, I guess its everyone
Thanks for the credits. I appreciate it
Also the speed is the same (its around the speed of the gif file), if you want it slower I will need to redo the entire bootanimation again.
Nope, i like it... Was just curious that's all :thumbup:

Hi,
I'm trying to get a bootanimation to work. DL here: https://mega.co.nz/#!isQEkKoS!2Dyfuf7TI2GePbMV11N83TR2hrpsCKfkdud4WNMaY90
It is originally created by ansebovi using my upscaled version of this .gif, however it stops around the 85th frame and freezes the phone completely.
In order to boot the phone again, I have to mount /system/ through TWRP and delete the bootanimation.zip file using the file manager of TWRP.
I've read through this thread over on droidforums regarding how to create a bootanimation and modified the desc.txt accordingly. I've also tried the troubleshooting steps described in the same thread.
Now I'm looking for anyone well versed in the art of bootanimations to help me understand and fix this problem I have on my hands.
Thank you in advance!
EDIT: Upload to the forum crapped out thrice in a row now. Mega link added instead.
Not sure about your freezing problem but you can try this
Boot Animation Factory http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678540
or use Rom Toolbox in the playstore interface tab \ Bootanimations
Effective and easy.

Have not yet tried the Rom Toolbox method though.

Yes. Where did you place yours? data/local/ or /system/media/ ?
Could it also have something to do with kernel / ROMs?

Weird,I placed it in the same place, with rw- r-- r-- permissions and all..
Maybe the difference really is in the kernel/ROM...
I use PA Beta 4 and ElemnetalX 0.36. I suppose its probably more kernel related if at all..
Which kernel so you use?
Im currently beanstalk w/ uber. Impatiently waiting for googles upgrade. Your probably right, however I've never had issues with boot animations unless on a stock samsung kernel.

I have not, that might be worth looking into. Credit for the .gif goes to /r/loadingicon over on reddit.

I tried it with this animation and it booted perfectly, so I suppose that it's not purely kernel related, must be some weird interaction between the ElementalX kernel and my bootanim...
Hello guys, do you want to take your android device to a higher level? Go grab this boot animation. This is my all-time favorite boot animation which I am going to share with you. I don’t remember from where I had downloaded this, so sorry for invalid credits. If you are the one then please comment with your link to the post.
FOR HDPI DEVICES (480x854)
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING AND DON'T BLAME ME OR XDA FOR BOOTLOOPS
STEPS:
1. Download the file from below.
2. Open root explorer (download from play store).
3. Go to /system/media and paste the file there.
4. Extract bootaudio.zip and Copy bootaudio.mp3 to /system/media (check if a file with same name exists there)
Or
Extract PowerOn.zip and copy poweron.ogg to /system/media/audio/ui (check if a file with same name exists there)
5. Fix the permition of poweron.ogg to rw-r-r
6. Reboot
7. Enjoy
TAKE A SECOND TO SAY ‘THANKS’
Animation is beautiful. Working on Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-i9082. ? But there is no sound. Is it because I have copied bootaudio.mp3 & PowerOn.ogg to their respective folders. Will the sound effect work if I remove one file. Suggest me which one to remove!?

First of all check if you have extracted bootsound.mp3 from bootsound.zip (downloaded file).
For some samsung based roms, delete the poweron.ogg from audio folder and keep the bootaudio.mp3 in system/media/
Did you get the popup while copying the sound?
No didn't get any popup! I'm using Carbon 4.4.4 custom ROM.

You have to name the file exactly like this: PowerOn.ogg
Put it in /system/media/UI/
Make sure you set permissions.
