Hello, I'm having some issues with my Xperia Z3. Color bit depth seems to be low (banding), and the colors look bad, like in the picture attached. Is this normal or is something wrong with my phone? Thanks

You'd need to do some more testing; more images, compared on more phones. Take a photo and zoom in. Look at pictures on a website on your pc and your phone, etc. That one image will only help if someone else reading this thread has the game and a Z3 and this site's software doesn't lossily affect uploaded images.

I did testing and this happens in other games, too. This didn't happen on my old iPhone 5. Again, I'm not sure if this is normal and if I should be worried. Thanks for reply

I don't have that game, otherwise I'd check. Perhaps post some examples of a few picture-rich websites and people can compare. The Z3 can show ~16 million colours, so that's not the reason your example image looks that way.
Same thing happens in GTA III. I'm really confused about this issue
Just found out that this issue is called banding. Is it my phone's fault or apps' fault? Because other apps/games seem to not have this issue.

Well, did you see where I asked you to post a few examples of what websites look like on your phone, so that I and others can compare with what we see? Because that would help determine whether it's just your Z3 or others too.

Sorry for noobish question but which websites would be best for testing? I tried gradcolor and I checked with this image: gradcolor.com/fullgradient.php?r=389&reproduce=top&mod=simple&att=no and the results are great, there was barely any visible brading while zoomed in, so I'm assuming that this may be issue with some of the apps that I'm using. Thanks for help!

Yeah, that screenshot looks fine to me, so the games have a problem (or are doing that deliberately).

Sorry for the same question but this thing really bothers me. When I take a picture under direct sunshine (1-2 feet away from the object), the photo is distorted (letters, lines etc). But if I take the same picture without direct sunshine, it's fine. See attached pics for comparison (Same paper, one under sun, one no sun) You may want to enlarge the pictures to see the difference). The brighter the sun, the more distorted picture. Not sure if it's only me?

Did you really have to create a new thread for this? Why not continue posting in the original thread? Im sure this thread will eventually get closed...
Have you tried what I mentioned in your other thread?

Thanks for your reply. I was not able to upload pic without sun for comparison so I created a new thread. Or maybe there is a way to do it?
I tried to change it to Daylight, same problem. Can anyone try yours? If my phone is defective, I need to call HTC for a replacement. Thanks.

You actually now have 3 threads about this same problem.
If its been bothering you since February, then why not call HTC and have them do a warranty exchange?
No one else seems to have that problem.

I didn't try to take a picture of something close up like that with sun.
As the title suggests we (at least those who N5) had to upgrade to the camera of google. For heaven's sake in this post is not to say, you no good bad etc. .. But I want to put an attention on the video. You doing various tests from yesterday to today I noticed (unfortunately) an annoying noise in the video is that in FHD 480p. The bug or problem, call it what you want, persists in all kinds of resolution that you put. Arises especially in confined spaces, such as a room or whatever at home, standing in silence and making a normal recovery. Below I have uploaded a little video to show you Yuotube on this issue. To you a review!
Edit: obviously the video was shot in 1080p, this should sentisi more noise or background noise.

In fact, restoring an old bakup I noticed that in the old version the problem persists. As you said the bug there for months. Hopefully with the update 4.4.3 solve.

I really want someone else to give this a go and report back, I unitentionally fixed this problem by flashing a slim rom hdr+ bug fix. The file I flashed was this one http://www.slimroms.net/index.php/d...-4/10260-slim-google-camera-compatibility-fix
Maybe a strange coincidence, anyone else fancy giving it a shot?

How do you expect anyone to identify the device with only one picture that doesn't show enough detail to even know what we're looking at, can't see the placement of buttons, can't see the speaker or camera or anything. Sorry, I doubt anyone can tell you with just that picture.

Thank you for the response. That's why I posted this question, I browsed the web based on the picture (the placement of the front camera and the edge of the phone are quite uncommon) but with no luck. My best chance is that someone look at the picture and knows already which phone it is.
The video where we can see the phone around 37:14 doesn't show more than the picture... I can't include the url so I made another picture with the url (sorry, it is kind of pain). _hpics.li/625c2e9
Just received XZP from SONY store, Out for a small trip today ,take pictures for family, all the pictures are distorted, only the head in the middle is slightly normal, but the body still twisted.
See attachment photos the head around the lens surrounding site all the irregular distorted .
this is not a simple wide-angle distortion but a rare irregular distortion.Try to shoot real person in different angles, the problem will be more serious then the attachment screen take photos , you simply can not choose one normal photos
Is this issue can fix by the update ???
XZS forum are the same problems have been 2 months still no fix !
Now seems the whold world xzp is the same problem, the flat shooting distortion is not the main problem, just for your reference .The main problem is the three-dimensional scene, when shooting three-dimensional scene will enhance the perspective several times, seriously beyond the reach of the human eye perceived acceptance , also seriously beyond the distortion of other mobile phones,The closer result you get will distortion more, No matter how you compose, how to adjust the distance and shooting angle,As long as leaving the center little center area, all will be serious distortion, again seriously beyond the distortion of other mobile phones!see carefully all the picture in all pages from different users , Portrait photography and flat grid shooting.
see photo and specific in this link :

In sony mobile forum this post was deleted by Moderator for unbelievable reason when more people go to feedback problems ,After a lot of user protest why del the post , now they restore, but the main text and the first page have been modified and remove, also lot's users reply has been edited or delete by moderator, I repost in Message page 2. (link page)Take a closer look at the pics in page 2,4,15,18 ,especially portrait and real life photos ,that is the issue you can not avoid from your XZP camera ,whether you adjust any angle, distance, composition, height. ( not here ,see the link page)
Have Sony replied to you yet? It seems many users are experiencing this issue? It may be a early teething issue but it doesn't help that Sony haven't acknowledged this.
I'll be honest, I rarely, if at all, see people in this forum satisfied with Sony camera. I use a camera to take pictures and rely on my phone for calls, text, web etc.

Faulty unit maybe? Did you try another unit or try to change it with Sony?
Yeah, I am guessing faulty unit. I've seen like 7-10 reviews, and not one of those cameras has any issues from what I can tell. First thing I'll be doing when I get mine is snapping some shots to see if it's an issue with mine.
I am one from tieba and have seen the discussions of distortion here. It's ture to believe how sony could rarely make this ****ing mistake! It disappoint me at all. The time for dafa sparing no effort to resolve...

I took it to mean faulty device. Maybe the camera is mounted incorrectly or something. I would have it replaced by Sony.
Can anyone tell us what is the Camera app version in XZ Premium? (can be seen under Settings-->Apps-->Camera) I'm just curious.

What I meant get the phone replaced and see and when you're getting replaced do your testing and see if the distortion still persists. If it does that means something is wrong with the glass they're using and Sony should be aware of this matter.
And yes you can try a different camera app from play store to see if this is a software issue.

Precisely for all we know OP may just have a faulty phone. Until they get another & see if that's the same.
Is it a dual sim or single sim phone?
