[Q] Droid Razr HD Kitkat - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys!
I just got my Droid Razr HD. Im thinking of rooting it after the release of CM 12. Right now my phone is updated to 4.4.2 kitkat so do I have to downgrade or anything before rooting the phone?
Thanks!

Is your phone's bootloader unlocked? Do you have a xt925 or xt926?

xt926. Im not sure about bootloader though. (Im not using the Verizon SIM)

If you're on the latest KK, you can't root or unlock. What System Version are you on?

Tried that, didn't work... Towel root too didn't work... The only thing I haven't tried is flashing the firmware. I will try that and give a feedback.

Actually probably only the radios are different, if this situation is any similar with the D3, it should work minus phone and data
a confirmation from the dev may be needed just to be sure the radios wont fry if flashed with wrong software
Get it working for the Maxx HD!
Radios are deff different and some other stuff

Thanks, hope to see more. I just upgraded from the thunderbolt which has all but vanished from the scene. Loving the battery life on this one...
Updated OP with new CM10 version.
Has anyone worked out the difference between the international xt925 (unlocked loader) and the XT926?

Flash ROM

I get "No MD5 file found"

Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Did you check the MD5 of the download before you began? Is your boot loader unlocked? Are you on stock ICS or JB leak? Did you use Voodoo OTA rootkeeper for any reason? All shots in the dark... worked OK for me on stock rooted 4.0.4.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
I'm unlocked.
On Jelly Bean leak
Yes I have Vodoo Root Keeper.
For some reason I thought I needed to be on Jelly Bean leak.
Could it be root keeper causing the problems?

Another question since I see your name in a lot of good info. I thought I saw somewhere about replacing that stupid unlock warning with the Motorola symbol again.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Not sure about this but make a backup of your current state (you probably already have) then in Voodoo app delete the SU backup then try again. Also I'm not sure if it can be installed on JB leak (not saying don't do it, I'm saying I don't know.)
@dhacker29 or @Hashcode0f via twitter will be able to answer your questions if my suggestion doesnt work.
EDIT: just updated the OP with his download page... There seems to be a newer version out anyway, try them.
Thanks

Did this work for you? Did you remove Voodoo root keeper? I have trouble like you trying to install this rom

How to root 4.1.2

My friend was able to get a rooted 4.1.2 rom on his xt926, but somehow, root access is now gone from the phone after installing some apps. The phone is currently on 9.16.6, is there any utility that is able to root this yet? I tried the Droid Razr hd utility 1.10, but it says it won't work with 9.16.6.
No root for it yet.

Is there a way to revert to ICS?
I'm in the same boat as you no root it sucks too. I guess we will have to wait for a root method when it releases

borked pwnmymoto apk

i just received the droid ultra maxx as a replacement phone today in the mail. and i was trying to install the root method. but the person who had the phone before me i guess rooted it, but took it off. i tried to install the pwnmymoto app but it said it was already installed. but i cant find i in the app drawert. is there any way i can root this bad boy? i looked for the fxz files, its been a while since ive used it and want to make sure im going to be doing it right. can anyone give me some pointers?
Sorry. Mods can you move this to the q&a section

Your rooted dude don't worry the apk deletes itself once it roots. If you want install a Root checker and make sure.
Nope, it says I'm not rooted :/ is there any other work around?

Start of fresh first try factory reset if its a no go then fxz that will definitely work. Then install the apk and get root.
Make sure your using the right apk.. I ran into this issue because I was directed to the moto x apk which was patched

I haven't used fxz or rsd since my bionic. Like 5 phones ago. But that should work? I've seen a few different fxz files for the maxx. I'm assuming that since I'm in 12.7.7 I should stick with that one? Or are there advantages with the other file?

Afaik the bootloader is locked and you can unlock the Maxx dev edition only by requesting an unlock key from Motorola.
Thanks !!

Sorry to bother you but just one last question since I have a Droid ultra will the unlock key from Motorola for the droid maxx Dev edition still work on my ultra?

Unless it's a Dev Edition, and AFAIK, the only Dev Editions were Maxxes, not Ultras, you won't be getting an unlock key from Motorola. Those are strictly for Dev Editions.
Man that really stinks I wish I got the maxx Dev edition thanks anyway though!

[Q] Bootloader Unlock??

Has anyone successfully unlock the bootloader on the Verizon Moto G XT1028??
I tried the Motorola website where I successfully unlocked the Moto X but I got an error. Is there any other way?
Nope. Nothing short of a Chinese middleman or another exploit will save the xt1028.

Well I mean technically we could root it without bootloader unlock, but there are no *publicly* known exploits. There is a 4.4.4 root method for the X, and if I'm not mistaken this could be ported to this device but I guess no one really wants to do it
