Strange battery readings - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Replaced battery with Newpower99 battery. Got normal battery time, but very strange readings. Battery goes up when I am not charging it. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Battery stats are pure estimation. The estimated percentage was less than the actual remaining battery capacity, so it readjusted itself.

Battery Drainage App??

hey everyone,
does anyone know if there is an app out there that will log the percentage of your battery, what time that % occurred, and maybe even how time between readings (like x minutes past from 90% to 80%)?
i am having some drainage issues and don't know where it is coming from. spare parts isn't that useful. it's probably some of my widgets, but i am seeing some usual drain recently with very little usage from my phone.
thanks!

Try that app it seems to do what you want.
thanks. i will check this out. i have been having strange drain. one night, my phone my phone drained hard and was pretty warm for it doing nothing. another night, it would drain only a few percent.
That app will do just what you want.

[Q] Will battery percentage show with 1800mAh extended battery?

i am planning to buy a 1800mAh Mugen battery and i was wondering if the battery percentage would show properly on my phone? if not would wiping battery stats fix this problem?

$I have one and runs perfect
Percentage meter is just based on the voltage that your phone associates with fully charged and empty. When you get the new battery, just recalibrate the battery meter by charging to 100%, draining to 10-20% (not 0%) and repeat a couple times, and you should be good to go.
Wiping battery stats just clears the usage data, that gets cleared anyway when you charge the battery.

Battery drops??

For some reason once my phone hits 8% battery life it drops to 2% immediately.
This happens on viperxl & cm, so its not ROM related.
Any ideas on how to fix it? Is there a way to recalibrate the battery ?

There's nothing wrong with your battery. That's normal behaviour when the battery is at such a low level. The battery percentage is never an exact value, it's only an estimate based on the current voltage that is being reported by the battery. When a battery is that low it isn't abnormal at all for it to jump down drastically like that.
On a side note, unless you're performing an initial charge cycle after flashing a new ROM you really shouldn't let your battery deplete to such a low level. With this specify type of battery technology it's quite bad for it and will actually affect the long term life of the battery. The preferred method of charging is to do regular top up charges from anywhere between ~80% and ~30% battery level right up to the 100% mark.

There is no such thing as "recalibrating the battery". This term is sometimes used by folks who confuse Li ion technology with old NiCad batteries that need to be "conditioned".
What you may mean is recalibrating the battery meter, which has to do with software, not battery chemistry. Battery meter is usually not accurate after a ROM flash, and should be recalibrated. This is done by charging to 100% (let it sit for half hour or so at full, to ensure any saturation charge is achieved) then deplete until around 10 or 20%.
Other than that, the meter is as accurate as its going to get. As timmaaa already stated, the battery % is just an inaccurate approximation of the amount of usage left that corresponds to various voltages. It often can't be trusted to be accurate to within 1% (or even 5%) increments. And also as timmaa stated, you should not be draining your battery that low on a frequent or habitual basis, as its harmful to the long term life of the battery. Charge frequently.

Weird battery life; battery not charging fully

Hello, this is how my battery life looks like.
So, battery, when it charges, goes up smoothly up to about 50 percentage mark. Then, the rate of charge slows dramatically, followed by a huge surge at the end. As soon as I unplugged my phone, however, the battery drops significantly, and I end up losing battery even as the battery is charged.
Any idea what has happened? I see no significant wake lock (I have no idea what the application says it's active), signal is high and sync is turned off. Is it a hardware issue? Corrupted battery stat?
I am running CM 11 Milstone 12, and the battery is a ZeroLemon extended battery.

Sounds like the battery or possibly the charging port is going bad. Those are really the only two I can think of

Phone not showing accurate battery level - stays at 1% for ages

Hello,
I followed the excellent guide linked below for help with calibration of a Samsung battery.
[GUIDE] Samsung Battery Calibration
Samsung Phone Battery Calibration Guide Description: This guide is for those who are experiencing battery issues (e.g., battery suddenly dying at percentages >1% or battery draining too fast or messed up battery readings after custom ROM...

Unfortunately, it did not solve my problem. I was hoping someone here might be able to help.
My battery calibration issue is different to anything I've seen before. I had the usual battery problems and got a replacement battery fitted. My current problem is that the battery has more charge than the phone realises (which is the opposite of the usual problem one tends to see with a bad battery).
The battery level falls quickly from 100% down to 1% at a rate of about 10% per hour. But then it stays at 1% for AGES! Even if I leave a video running on YouTube on maximum brightness. A minimum of 30 minutes but possibly more. So there's plenty of milliamps in there, it's just that the phone doesn't realise this.
I tried following methods 1 and 3 from the guide linked to above but the problem is still there.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for your reply. I've tried this but unfortunately this hasn't fixed the issue. Any other suggestions?
Has the battery ever been replaced? This kind of behavior can happen with a failing battery.
FYI: If phone's battery health shows less than 80% then battery should get replaced.

Yes the battery has been replaced recently. Within the last 6 months.
Where do I see the battery health from? It's a Galaxy S7.
