It takes about 10 seconds for google maps to appear. seems like it used to be way quicker. that;s the only decent gauge of its quickness. It also freezes much easier. I try to do facotr resets but it will not. says it fails.

OK, I’ve now spent hours with the phone setting it up and configuring it. I had to do it twice because it got stuck at the LG spinning progress bar and a weird “checking system” warning was displayed on boot. I had to hard reset it and rebuild it (always easier the second time). Interestingly, it’s behaving better after the hard reset so newbies might want to do a hard reset when they first get the phone.
I’m coming from a G2 so first a comparison:
It’s light. The G2 feels like it weighs twice as much.
It crisp looking. The G2 looks old next to it.
I hate the reversal of the home and settings soft keys. I’ll get used to it through retraining but it’s a pain.
The screen is more responsive and a lot more vivid.
The volume rockers on the right vs. left side isn’t a good thing because when holding the phone to use the power button your hand is naturally right where they are.
HTC has far more customization settings. There’s only one notification sound for everything and you can’t set a vibrate (either alone or with sound).
Bluetooth audio is 1000% better. It sounds like a CD in my car. You can also answer a call and Bluetooth audio starts up again – a huge bug in the G2.
Not having LED’s sucks and the bizarre charging screen LG implemented as a replacement when you press the on/off switch is just stupid.
The things I like about the phone:
It’s fast. I’m using ADW Launcher and the 4D app drawer just flies. So does the moving wallpaper when scrolling.
WiFi is fast. It downloaded my Rhapsody playlists as fast as my i7 desktop.
Call quality is good – better than my G2 according to people I’ve asked.
The speakerphone works great, even with background noise. They hear me clearly and I hear them loudly.
It charges incredibly fast on AC power.
The battery life’s been good because I’ve been hammering away at it for hours. Although, once you go below 50% it seem to start dropping a lot faster.
It feels solid and good in the hand and the materials are high quality.
Bluetooth works better on this phone than any I’ve ever owned.
PlayOn which is a real CPU and bandwidth hog plays well over 4G which it didn’t on the G2 so the Tegra2 really does make a huge difference.
Things I don’t like:
4G is slow. My G2’s best speedtest.net score is 10289 down and 1582 up. The average is in the mid-8’s down and about 1.2mb up. The best score on the G2X is 7013 down and 1263 up. Average is in mid-6’s down and 1mb up. Not great performance for a state-of-the-art phone. One of the pro reviewers said it's slower than the SideKick, she's right.
The on/off switch is nuts. You have to press it forever and you still don’t know if it registered with the phone. I get that it’s so you don’t accidentally turn the phone on, but really? Also, since you have to press it so long and the volume keys are in a bad place you could accidentally restore your phone.
When the phone’s charging and you press the on/off switch some bizarre battery graphic appears. You have to press the switch again to get the phone to start up. If you press too long, it shuts down. Does anyone at LG actually use a smartphone?
Let’s talk software. TeleNav, really? Why load something that no one with Google maps is going to use that just hogs memory. And what’s with not pre-loading voice synthesis so you get a warning the first time you use voice dial to download it? They took out Quickoffice and replaced it with Polaris Office. You’d think you were getting a program to create and edit files, right? No, it’s a poor man’s version of Astro. All the T-Mobile stuff beside My Account and My Device is crap and a waste of memory.
There’s limited personalization. You get one notification sound for everything with no discreet vibrate option. HTC offers 10x the personalization.
I use Mobile Signal PRO to monitor my cell and Wi-Fi reception. It’s always been spot-on on my G2. It’s never shown the G2X to be on the 4G network while the T-Mobile indicator has never shown it to drop below 4G (which is impossible). Something funky is going on with the radio software.
Could this thing take any longer to start-up or shut-down? I mean seriously. First the LG logo, then the spinning progress bar, then the launching android, then loading internal SD, loading external SD, loading media files. All-in it’s easily twice as long to boot up as my G2. Same thing with shutting down. And after it got stuck on the spinning progress bar and I had to reset it, I cringe waiting for the stupid Android blast-off screen to appear.
So It’s only day two but I like more than I dislike. I’m definitely keeping it barring any unforeseen future weirdness once I start using it day-to-day. Hopefully as LG gets smarter with high-end devices some of the quirks will be addressed with software updates. Right now, based on the way I use it, I’d say it’s a good phone but not the phone-to-end-all-phones. There might be a Sensation in my future.
The GPS in my Tbolt is only locking on me like 20% of the time. Also I have lost some web animation. For instance the radar on Weather Underground.com wont work. Same with Acu Weather. Also my web pages are loading very very slowly. They hang half loaded for 15-45 sec even with good WiFi. In the month and a half I have had this phone I have hard reset 4 times due to loss of data, and now this. Any thoughts???
The GPS is a known issue.
I know. But it used to work well.

Not sure if you have tried this or not but it helps a lot of people. Download an app from the market called GPS status and toolbox. Open that app up, hit menu, Tools, Manage A-GPS state, Reset. Now do the same thing only in Manage A-GPS state hit download. This has helped some people's GPS lock on more frequently and faster.
I'm having the same issue. it worked before. now nothing.
The TB uses the battery cover as an antenna for GPS. Certain cases, docks, and especially extended batteries (with their non stock covers) can interfere with the GPS. I believe it's mostly bad design on HTC's part, but these things could have an affect.

that worked for me, thanks!!
This is the 5th build I have used on my HD2. It looked promising and I wanted to try Gingerbread. This build has several problems that I can't get past. First is that it has odd horizontal line artifacts on the screen - mostly localized to individual icons. They are intermittent (I also see them in changing text like the Hour:minute display). Another is that I often can't get this build to realize that the SD card is mounted even after I disconnect from my computer properly. Often I can get to the SD through Astro and the Terminal emulator but can't get Gallery or Music or WinAmp to see the card. Very annoying. One of the biggest troubles is that every reboot requires several tries - battery pull, power on - battery pull, power on, ... till I finally get past the first HTC logo (even after waiting 10 minutes or more.) I have used other MCCM builds "MCCM HD 4.0 Desire HD" worked pretty well but it kept getting slower and slower - it seemed. I'm going to try "RAFDROID_HD_SD_4_2".
Sorry I couldn't post in the MCCMBoxmaX thread. I didn't realize I needed to actively post in order to earn the right to communicate directly with the chef. -Tojo-TS
Couldn't agree more. Battery drained in less than 8 hours under normal usage - my win6.5 would have lasted at least a full 24 hours under that level of pull. HD2 became very hot under normal use. horizontal line artifacts on icons. slow scrolling and moving. Unable to turn off phone.
When I first got my NS4G I was super impressed how fast it booted... like 20 seconds or so it seems. Now it is a lot longer after I've installed tons of stuff, I guess. But I checked using "autostarts" app and have disabled all but the bare minimum to launch at startup. Still though, my phone now takes 50 seconds to get to home screen from power on, while my fiancee's only takes 30 seconds (I'm guessing she has less stuff installed). I didn't think to time my reboot after flashing GRJ90 and rooting (and thus starting from scratch) the other night, but I'm betting it was like 20 seconds again like when I got the phone.
Any idea why it is so long after installing stuff? Any idea how to speed it up? 50 sec is still waaaaay better than my last phone. But 20 sec was just badass.
While I'm no developer, my guess is android needs to load all your apps during boot regardless of whether or not they will actively be running following start-up. Maybe it needs to scan them or run some kind of checkon the individual apps.
Deleting some apps should definitely help with the time.
I have following issues in my op6-
1. Excessive Battery Drainage, after full charge it's only last for 3 hours without using any heavy app or gaming, just normal browsing. Phone heated also.
2. Phone Too much hang now and then. For example if I open gallery, it's showing nothing content. Then takes atleast 1 min to load.
3. Camera app instantly not usable ,it's gets hanged first after opening then become usable(30 sec lag). After click photo if I go to check the photo, instantly it shows no photo at all, then after several tries it shows photo. I think everything hang, I don't know where 8GB ram used.
4. I have few apps which are not usable via wifi. In settings wifi usability not disabled. Still can't use wifi
I have tried after cleaning phone cache, it did not solve.
That's probably something like crippled oneplus'es update to force you to buy a new phone. Or you can easily backup your data, perform a factory reset and set up the phone which should help you.
