[Q] Case blocks micro USB cable? - Xperia Z Accessories

I recently got a Nillkin case for my Xperia Z:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61YAQ1gfVjL._SL1001_.jpg
One thing I noticed was that part of the case (the upper portion of the charging port) blocks the micro USB cable so it doesn't go all the way in.
Has anyone else encountered this issue with a case, or did I get a poorly designed case?
Thanks.

Mine broke off around that part: [image]
Probably just the micro usb cable that came with the phone that is too big, however it's still a problem.

(SOLUTION) For people having problem fitting usb cable with case on.

I bought some cases from ebay and i realized how some of them doesnt fit well when using the original cable from htc.
example is the mesh case, the usb cable from htc either comes off when you take the phone or just let it lay there without using it. Before i had to take the case off first before plugging the phone, now i dont have to
so i came to the conclusion to buy a samsung usb cable

(the cable is longer than the picture, as shown below, and high quality made. Works pretty good)

USB replacement

Hey everyone,
Since we all hate the stock supplied nexus 5 cable in some way I'm sure we all seek out other alternatives.
I switched to the USB cable from my nexus 7 as it doesn't wiggle around while plugged in and generally fits better than the stock cable.
However I've noticed that it is leaving very faint grooves in the soft touch plastic part of my usb port opening, right where the two top "teeth" are.
Has anyone found a USB that doesn't leave any physical marks on the phone or is it just something we have to live with?
Any input is appreciated

For me the stock cable works nicely. I however noticed that it was getting weak by the computer attachment.
that happens when we turn it 90 degrees angle. I'm using this as of now ans is very strong. http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-2...55&sr=8-4&keywords=high+speed+micro+usb+cable

[Q] Philips AS111 force to charge

Hi all,
I have a Philips AS111 docking station/bluetooth speaker/charger. Worked perfectly for my SGS2, however, since I bought a new phone (Sony Xperia Z1 Compact) I'm experiencing some problems.
I bought an micro usb to magnetic connector adapter to be able to connect my phone to the dock without having to open the flaps all the time. I took it apart and it basicly splits the first and fifth pin of the micro USB connector to the pins in the magnetic connector. Unfortunately I may not link to external images...
Unfortunately, my phone does not charge when using the adapter in combination with the Philips dock. It does when using the original Sony USB charger and the adapter, so the adapter is fine.
I measured the voltage on the two pins, and it's 0V. I even tried to fool the dock by putting a 1.5kOhm resistor over several lines. Only when I put a 1.5kOhm resistor between 5V and the connector housing, the dock responded by turning on Bluetooth. Voltage went crazy, flipping between 0 and 3V, but phone still doesn't charge.
I think the sollution is to fool the dock by putting a certain resistor between certain lines or by shorting certain lines. Does anyone have a clue how to fool the dock to think there is a device connected, so it opens the +5V line?
Thank you very much!
Nobody into usb connection protocols? :crying:
Finally got it working. Eventually I needed to connect two wires together inside the device. One of them being 'CLAS1' and the other was Ground. Both could be found on the connector going to the micro usb plug of the device. Unfortunately I can not post a link to the photo I made of it.

Hello!
I've just bought an AS111. Charges perfectly my SGS4 but it doesn't do a thing when I try connecting my SGN3 (the one with the micro-usb 3 connector) to the Philips dock. I know that the micro-usb 3 is backwards compatible but I do believe that the AS111's dock outputs too little power - or something like that, I am no expert.
I was wondering that maybe your experience could be of help to me. What do you think? If so, could you please guide me through the stuff you did to the dock? Thank you!

Super Micro Thin Micro USB cable ??

I am mounting a Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 on the dash of my car to replace the craptastic system the car comes with (nissan leaf)
anyway I want to avoid a fugly power cable floating around. what I am looking for is a normal full size plug usb to micro usb cable that looks like THIS PLUG on this qi wireless unit
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-Un...l_Phone_PDA_Chargers&var=&hash=item258fe5398e
ie it full inserts into the micro usb socket without sticking out more than a mm if that and is thin and flat so I can fold it around behind the tab and make it vanish somewhere out of site
problem is I need this in the form of a USB cable. just with that flat thin cable and that super ultrat compact micro usb plug on the end
suggestions?

I feel like eating flat noodles now...
Good luck!
Sadly those are all huge. Its not the cable that is to large. It is the plug itself thst goes into the micro usb socket that is too large and will stick out too much.
I will try to find my uni qi pad to take pics.
Ah right I understand, sorry about that.
Maybe you can try taking the plastic apart yourself and use this one - http://gizmodo.com/impossibly-thin-charging-cables-no-thicker-than-a-pair-1458889908
This one has a sideways connector so the wire goes to one side instead of straight downwards, not sure but it may save you a millimetre or something haha... - http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-3-Feet-Micro-USB-Cable/dp/B0045JHJDS
It is indeed surprisingly hard to find a wire with a thin connector/jack!

MicroUSB connector malfunction on Z5 (bad contact? liquid electrical cleaner?)

Hi all,
It's been two years I have been using my Z5 Compact, and the MicroUSB connector is hardly usable now.
I of course tried several cables.
It is very difficult to charge the telephone. I don't know exactly what the problem is. I tried cleaning with a dry air bomb (for keyboards etc.), but to no avail. Seems like a bad contact.
Is it possible to use electrical parts liquid cleaner to properly clean the USB contacts?
Anybody having the same experience?
MF
I had the same problem, usb cable didn't fit in entirely.
Culprit was a piece from the inside of my jeans pocket was pushed deep inside my usb port. It was pretty much stuck in there but once I got it out the problems where solved and I switched to magnetic usb cable to prevent this.
I got it out using very tiny pliers and a magnifying loupe.
Hope this helps..
Regards
Mine is going to die sometime, soon, too! i already bought a new one on ebay, laying ready to be installed here! In a couple of days i´ll take a hair dryer and then i´ll peel of the back cover and replace that broken connector
update: 17th of june!
Just wanted to tell you guys, it worked! I just replaced the USB Connector with the one i bought on Ebay, price was around 4 Euro or so, not much i think
It was rather easy, as i already own the needed tools (a very very small philips screw driver, and a tool to go underneath the back cover and a hairdryer)
took about 20 minutes or less!
Just use the hairddryer to heat up the back cover, then use the special tool (or a thin knife?) to loose the back cover and peel it off
then you have to remove 2 screws on the lower part, then you can remove some sort of a "bar" over the usb connector! next you have to lift the "motherboard" on the lower part (yes it moves down to the usb connector) but first disconnect the usb connector! then pull out the broken usb, shove the new one in and do all the above in reverse order!
