Hi all, I have a Nexus 6 with Android 5 (Lollipop) and I am using the standard app for phone (dialer) and contact list.
The contact list includes contacts from several accounts, such as Gmail, Exchange, Skype and LinkedIn.
The contact list can be configured to only display contacts from one given source or just some of them. The dialer always displays all of the sources, ignoring the contact list settings.
The problem, and my question, is why my contacts are duplicated in the contact list (and the dialer contact list)?
If I have "John Doe" in Gmail, Skype and LinkedIn - then I have three John Does in the list. To be clear: I do not have duplicates within each source (e.g. Gmail).
Any tips?

Before I start I would like to say that I already did some research but I didn't get a satisfying result. I consider the XDA forum an excellent place to get a second opinion. If you don't know an answer to my question, or if anything is unclear: feel free to comment and discuss.
I am looking for a bundle of Android apps with the following (similar or related) functionality. It could be one app, or several apps that work together.
Sync MSN Contacts to Android Contacts
This is in fact the exact opposite as in this thread for a WM6 device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343840 (other threads with similar questions exist)
Just to get this straight: I am not looking for an MSN Instant Messenger app. Those already exist and work quite well.
The ideal app should do the following:
* Integrate into the Android Contacts as an account, similar to Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, LastFM,...
* All my MSN Contacts should be added to Android Contacts with at least the following details: name, email address, MSN/Windows Live account, profile picture, last status [feel free to suggest other account details]
* Android Contacts does it "magic" to auto-merge the MSN Contacts with already existing contacts from other accounts.
* Only one MSN account is required for my needs (just like you can only add one Exchange or one Facebook account) but I'll leave it up to you, the reader, to tell me if more than one MSN account is useful.
Sync Android Contacts to MSN Contacts
* For all contacts currently in Android contacts:
1. If they have an email address in one of the well-known Microsoft domains (@hotmail.com, @live.com,...) -> add them to my MSN Contacts (send a request or whatever terminology Microsoft uses) + add as IM detail in Android
2. If they have a Windows Live IM account in the Android contact data --> add them to my MSN Contacts + add as email detail in Android
Sync Jabber Contacts to Android Contacts
* Same as the first app, but for Jabber/XMPP accounts.
* Should support more than one Jabber/XMPP account.
* I have no ideas or use case scenarios for a reverse Android -> Jabber sync app.
Sync email and IM contact data from other accounts to Google Contacts
When I'm working on my Android, I have email addresses from Facebook, Linkedin, and potentially other Contacts apps. However only the details that are in a Google account are synchronized to Google. For example when I'm working on the pc in the Gmail interface, I cannot see an email address that I got via Facebook.
Are there apps that already do something like this?
If such apps do not yet exist, do you think that they would be useful?
As in: useful enough to dive into Java and Android development so that I can make them myself?
hi guys, anyone know how to sync only facebook photo to phone contact, rather than whole facebook contact?
this is the problem i encounter:
when i tab on the TO: list in messaging and type in my friend's name, it will show a replica of number (ie number from phone contact, and number from facebook contact). And the worst part is some of the number from facebook contact are wrong.
can anyone help?

thanks aagvain, i forgot something, previously i sync with my facebook account, and am able to get all the email address as well.
so i have to either add in the email via gmail one by one and sync gmail, or is there any other alternative?

just an update, i've solved my problem.
i've installed google contact sync and it will only sync facebook photo.
the downside is it doesn't sync the email, so i have to manually input.
In my contacts, I have my google contacts, my Touchdown, my facebook, my google+ contacts. As you can assume, there are tons of duplicates from contacts with the same name that is in google, touchdown and facebook, sometimes google+. I set in contacts to ONLY show my google contacts, but still when I search, I see 3 of my friend name.
Its really annoying...I'm almost inclined to wipe the contacts database.
How do I clean it up? Also, for anyone that use Touchdown, how can I prevent the contacts to show up on the phone contacts in the future?

You could try to long click a contact, select join contact, and then find the duplicates to join.
How to merge SINGLE contacts?
Some entries appear more than once in my contacts list. Ti this is because car particular entry may have a telephone number, a WhatsApp account, a Skype account, etc., etc..
I want to merge some (not all) of these entries so that, regardless of what account they have (WhatsApp, Skype, telephone, etc.) These only appear once in my contact list instead of appearing in my Google contact list, WhatsApp account, etc., etc..
I found a procedure to merge contacts: "more" > "organize contacts" > "merge duplicate contacts".
However, when I initiated this action, it begun merging ALL contacts.
I had to stop the process because I only need some accounts to be merged while I want others to remain separated. I want to merge only individual double (treble, etc) contacts.
Can anyone help me?

A) SYNC GOOGLE CONTACTS ( HAVING BIRTHDAYS) WITH MY NOTE10+
B) ENSURE THAT ALL THE CONTACTS ARE APPEARING IN THE CONTACTS LIST.
C) INSIDE CALENDAR, SEE ALL THE BIRTHDAYS OF CONTACTS APPEARING.
WHEN I CLICK ON A PARTICULAR BIRTHDAY OF A CONTACT INSIDE CALENDER..
IN THIS THE TEXT THAT IS WRITTEN AS " CONTACT" IS NOT CLICKABLE
I WANT THIS CLICKABLE ( SO I CAN CALL OR SMS DIRECTLY FROM WITHIN THE CALENDAR)
WHAT SHOULD I DO ??
note : The same is workable if the contact is saved on phone and not "imported" from google contacts.
