Hey guys
I clean flashed Robbie's SaberMod with AK Kernel and keep running into the "Miscellaneous" battery drain on Battery usage. From what i've read around it was a "wifi" lollipop issue in earlier builds, but later builds resolved that. However for my build, it does not seem to go away. Anyone know what is causing this?
I have checked BBS & WLD, all are operating normal and show "proximity sensor" as wake locks, which i think is normal.
Its driving me insane. Im usually fairly good at troubleshooting battery issues, but lost on this.
Bumpp what is going onn?
Bump anyone? :/

I've been using Daleski75's unofficial nightly. I know this does not really help, but the last two nights, 31 Dec 14 and 1 Jan 15, my battery has drained completely overnight. I noticed this morning that my battery usage showed Miscellaneous: 65%.

Hi,
I have been running liquid smooth's 2.6.1 nightly build with the kt747 kernel for the last 24 hours or so on a brand new Verizon Galaxy S III with no problems until this morning. I woke up with a full charge and used the GPS to get to a meeting this morning and noticed some pretty drastic battery drain that dropped a full charge to to around 20% from 6 am to about 10:30 am. The next thing I knew, I went to check my phone and I can't get the screen to come on, it just vibrates once when I press the power button. Have I killed the battery or even something worse? I'm currently letting it charge to see if that fixes the problem. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you drained the battery. I am also having battery drain issues but with Liquid Smooth 2.5 with kt747 also slow battery charge issues.
I left liquid smooth because of battery related issues I started having. Still probably my favorite rom.

EDIT: The 27th Nightly fixed Wifi and battery issues.
Sorry if wrong area, I can't post in the development forum yet.
Specs: SGH-T699
OS: 4.4.2
Kernel: 3.4.77-cyanogenmod-g33b0384 [email protected] #1 Sat Jan. 25 22:19:49 PST 2014
CPU: ARMv7 Processor rev 4 (v71)
Problems: Wifi can't be turned off from pull down bar, but can be switched to off in settings. This does not stop wifi though. Airplane mode doesn't stop it either. Internet turns off even with the WiFi on until reboot. Overnight with a charged battery Wifi (while system is unplugged and the screen is off) takes up about 40% of battery. Stock can last 6-12 hours depending on use, while CM10.2 Stable can last 6-9 hours depending on use. This build lasts maybe 3-4 hours without use (when screen is off), and 1-2 hours with light use.
I had the same problem, but everything works fine in 27 nightly

Thanks for the heads up, I will try it now and repost here if there are other problems.

Thanks. Do you guys get anything near CM 10.2 in terms of battery life?

Yea on the 27th nightly (haven't tried the newest one) I got better performance from phone, and less power consumption on the battery (that is running music, browsing, and texting) I am at 6 hours with moderate usage and still 77 percent battery.
EDIT: After doing some testing, it seemed to be the lockscreen notifications for Mahdi rom, which turned itself on when you picked it up(like active display).
Hi, using franco kernel #50 and Mahdi rom 4/25 and noticed my battery was draining extremely quickly. I checked battery settings, and it says I am getting a 27% battery usage from com.android.systemui.
Are there any known solutions to this?
The only thing I can think of that could be causing this is TouchControl(slide to wake)
Any help fixing this is greatly appreciated!

nothing you can do about touch control battery drain, except not use it.

Has touchcontrol has proven to be a problem in the past?
I mentioned it in the post because I thought it COULD be it, but didn't do any testing to prove it.
Thanks!

yup. battery drain with touch control has been known about for a long time.
After doing some testing, it seemed to be the lockscreen notifications for Mahdi rom, which turned itself on when you picked it up(like active display).
Anything to do with active notification (pocket mode) or tap to wake, anything like that is a big battery drain on the N5.
don't know if it could be helpful, but I want to share with you my experience.
Yesterday I did notice a heavy battery drain caused by android.systemui process. a 80% of battery gone in about 3-4 hours, without having done any particular operation or installed any new app. moreover, I was sleeping when it's happened.
I'm on a Nexus 5 with CM 11 Snapshot M9.
I remembered to have suffered an identical issue about one month ago, and no wipe was useful. the problem disappeared by itself the day after, and the a battery calibration it seemed to be the only helpful thing. but I was wrong.
I connected the fact that the problem appeared the first time the 31 of july. and, coincidentally, yesterday was the 31 of August.
believe it or not, by changing the date the problem was totally disappeared. completely solved.
so I suppose that it's a bug related to the system date, incapable to handle correctly the 31 of each month. very, very strange.
maybe (probably) it's not the solution for everyone who found this issue, but if you notice an abnormal battery drain by the android.systemui process, try to change the system date.

I came across this thread thru google search since I was having a huge amount of battery drain due to System UI on my Note 4 running custom ROM since yesterday.
And to my surprise, your 'strange' solution did work on my device.
Though its hard to justify since i didn't find any unusual wakelock/alarm for system date in Gsam/Betterbatterystat/Amplify but it did work.
Thanks for sharing.
Googled "System UI drain" and came to this thread, although I have Nexus 5X. I have read last two posts and thought "****, the problem looks just like mine, but the solution seems unrepeatable". Then I looked at the date - 31st of May. I will wait till tomorrow.
I've been using the latest ota 44s rooted, but with no modifications. its probably the most stable yet. no issues apart from this. despite the battery being actually quite good, i get 6+ sot within 40+ hours. but i'm getting an issue where according to the battery monitor, it drops a few percentages in one go without me actually using the device. its still on deep sleep. no wakelocks or anything like that.
Could it be that the battery stats is not being monitored properly by the phone? where the phone is going down steadily and then it realises the battery is at a slower percentage than its already displaying?
or is it something else?
This has happened to me several times previously. though no reboots, and battery life is still good.
as you can see here it drops from 86% to 77% whilst the -mAh is at -9mAH
Use a app such as better battery stats and debug your apps. There's most likely a app causing the phone not to properly deep sleep

i used to use bbs, but then found wakelock detector easier to use. if i install v2.000b7, do i just go into the advanced setting and add debug info to logcat?
Re: Phone deep sleep battery drain
I have also come across the sudden battery drain issue this past week. My phone deep sleeps well and I can find no wakelocks. It appears to use excessive battery when idle. I have tried a fresh, blank install of CM11S 44S and that didn't resolve the issue. I have since moved to Cm11 nightlies and that slowed the battery drain but I am losing 12% battery per hr when idle and the phone is staying warm. I do not understand how this happened and why it just spontaneously began. A fresh install with no additional apps, and no problems entering deep sleep. shouldn't be doing this This phone was brilliant for battery life and I cannot work out how to resolve this.

Have you checked what frequency your CPU is at while idle?

I have checked that and it appears to be sitting at the minimum 300MHz as far as I can tell. Since posting I have tried PA 4.6 for 24 hrs, no additional apps, and now I have moved to Liquid Smooth Lollipop nightly just to see how they compare. Even changing radios doesn't appear to have any impact on the power consumption.
When using GSam battery monitor on both the CM11 and PA (both behaved similarly) my phone was using anywhere from 500mA to 800mA (minimum screen brightness) for no apparent reason. I am unsure what usage this phone should be to be honest but I think that is high.
On Lillipop, the category 'Miscellaneous' is by far the greatest usage category and is seeing 2-3 times expected mAh drain compared to its computed usage, though I am unsure how that is worked out.
The most my phone will last now is 8hrs standby, in deep sleep. I am beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with the hardware of this device now. Perhaps the power regulator... Not sure what test to do next TBH
Thanks for your reply

The next thing I'd do would be a complete wipe and flashing the fastboot images. This still return the device to a completely stock state (including wiping the user data), leave it like that (don't install any apps) and test for a day or two.

Before flashing the CM11 Nightlies to see if they rectified the issue, I had downloaded and clean flashed the stock 44 image via fastboot but the issue remained. I shall re flash it though and post back...

Fresh install, data off and left to own devices for a few hours and it is deep sleeping like you would expect, but a neat linear drop in the battery of 10-12% per hour as before...
I saw the same type of behavior while running CM11 based ROM. At night, I would put device into sleep (no data/no wi-fi/no sync/etc.) - basically everything off. In the morning, it would still show 100% - but then quickly drain several percentage each minute for the first 10 or so minutes. It was like it was catching up to the correct %. I have used wakelock and BBS and nothing sticks out. I also set Google Play services to stop wake (which did help battery life a lot).
Has anyone else been experiencing heavy battery drain and getting really hot for the last few months on the latest official cm 11 nightly? Roughly since midway through January. I've been having problems with the battery constantly draining, dropping quickly at times and getting really hot when only browsing the Web or texting. I have my phone only on for short bursts and have a screen filter to lower the brightness down to the point where it's barely visible, yet I still barely get 7 hours standby and like 2 with the screen on. If anyone has any ideas on how to improve the battery life till it is usable please.

I hate to be the burden of bad news but your on a nightly and there will always be bugs. I wish I got great battery life with my S3 but sadly I didn't. Try maybe slimkat, that was always a solid rom

Thanks for the quick reply.
So you think it's the bugs that's causing the battery drain then? Do you think switching to a milestone would help improve it all?
