It's been years since I've played around with rooting but I received a Verizon Tab 2 10.1 (5100) which is on 4.1.2. I have been trying to decipher all the information on here to root the device but can't seem to get it. I am able to get into odin and have tried multiple "tar and zip" files to load CWM but it won't complete the root. It fails every time. I have been searching the forum, but there's a crap load of info and I'm hoping someone is kind enough to help. If someone can help I'll throw some beer money in their PayPal account. Thanks
From what I understand from days of studying all this for my new toy: If you don't want your flash counter to increment, the easiest way to root your Tab is by flashing a pre-rooted stock image.
I'm gonna guess towelroot would work just fine. Several vulnerabilities should be open right now for this age of device. I own a 7 inch WiFi I know I just used cf-autoroot but I would imagine towelroot or kingo root would be easier.

Look up Cydia impactor (Google of course ) , this will root "network tabs" but that's as far as you'll get, no development or custom roms available.
Anything that's for Wifi Tab2 10.1 will brick network tabs ( Verizon, Sprint, Att.) .

My husband has been trying all day to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus, using the software provided here in the forums. I have superuser, clockwork, and nothing works. I installed a root checker and as I suspected, my rooting attempts have all failed. My husband has tried just about every single root link on the forums. We're really new to the rooting world, in fact we have never rooted anything before this, so it's all new to us. I'm sick and tired of the bloatware on my tablet, and tired of having an SD card that I can't use the way I want.
I already had ICS on the device before trying to root, so I don't know if that is why the root is not working properly. Any advice would be fantastic! I'd rather not try to do this alone and brick a $400 tablet. We followed every single step on these forums to root, and it seems like it's a bit more technical than what xda makes it out to be. I'm not looking to use ROMS or whatever...just looking to get rid of bloatware and be able to put my app's on my SD card.
Have you been able to successfully install the custom recovery? (ClockworkMod)

I have the ZTE Rapido Lte from straight talk and was wondering if anyone has found a way to root this phone yet. I have tried program after program and no avail. I am on android 4.1.2. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.
ZTE Rapido
I also just got this phone. I have been religiously trying different root methods. None have worked out for me. I've run out of answers. I imagine there is a dev out there somewhere trying to release a new rev of Framaroot that would cover this phone. As of rootandroid.com this is not rootable of yet. I am not used to having an unrooted phone and I hate not having root. I hope someone else replies so we aren't stuck in the grip and mercy of the manufacturer.
I just got one today, I tried a bunch of methods as well to no avail. If there is anyone that can help I can pull an image from the phone so that others with more technical expertise might be able to go over it and find a way to root it.
More specifically, what kind of image would be needed? Any statistical info is available on the manufacturers website. In the case of a system image, what process and software would be needed? i will image mine if I have a procedure to follow.
I'm very interested in this myself. I just got one a few days ago and am already missing my rooted and ROMed Droid X. Please someone save us.
Same here I have tried framaroot z4root towel root root master root genius poot and none worked. Someone please help

Damn.
I just bought this phone for my Mom--her first smartphone since Verizon is the only thing in her coverage area. She's having trouble with the ringtones being too flat and not loud enough on the device.
I was hoping someone would've figured out a root for this beautiful little prepaid ZTE so I could somehow increase her ringtone/alert volume level. Maybe I'll poke around with the phone next time I'm near it.
So far she can answer calls and get on Skype
new news
any news on root i want to update it to lollipop
Solved!
I just rooted mine with king root apk. http://androidxda.com/download-kingroot-application or Google it. Make sure you download the latest version and if you don't get success on the first try keep trying it took me three tries. Please confirm if it works for you...
No root
Tried the KingoRoot download. Tried 17 times. Never once got a positive from any root checker app

Has anyone got root for ZTE Rapido LTE Z932L?
Any progress?
Just checking in to see if anybody had any progress on rooting the Z932L.
I haven't seen any posts online on any site of people making any progress or even talking about this phone anymore, but it would still be nice if it was rootable.
So the Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE (aka Samsung Galaxy Core Prime) has been on the market for almost 3 months now, and I've yet to find any applications or methods to root this device.
Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places?
So far I've tried the following:
-iRooot (formerly vRoot)
-Kingo
-TowelRoot
-OneClickRoot
-SRSroot
Also I've tried to root via the ADB push method to load busybox and su. However, hooking the Android up to a machine running Ubuntu and launching Nautilus, I'm unable to see or browse the directories on the device.
So does anyone have any recommendations or know of any apps or methods that might work?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Unfortunately these phones don't seem to be very common or sold in certain territories making it difficult for developers to root them. Keep looking for a root as you never know when one will come out but as far as I'm aware the phone has not been successfully rooted yet.
kingroot_4.0.0 so far is what ive found. not like having su but i can install viper and xposed and both work so its a improvement.
There is a root available over on Androidforums.com under the heading "prevail LTE root". It uses another recovery and rooting for another model samsung but it does work ok. I tried it on my prevail LTE and is currently running rooted right now. When you first do it I recommend you do it after a fresh wipe and then wipe again immediately thereafter because it will give you a system UID error if not. So use Titanium Backup to restore apps and settings after you wipe ( judiciously). I've talked to shabbypenguin to see if he would develop a recovery for it. He's busy so I guess I mean I'm waiting right now for him to get to it.<br />

CF-Auto-Root-fortuna3gdtv-fortuna3gdtvvj-smg530bt with odin 3.07 will root phone. extract recovery img with 7zip from firmware and change format to tar and you can reflash stock recovery.
Now how do we get a custom recovery cause im having a brain fart. But this is only my second phone to root and last one was pretty much 2 yrs old and i just followed a forum.
I used the latest version of Kingroot and it was a simple one-click root. The version i used was in Chinese, i think, but i went to their website through chrome on my laptop and just let google translate the page and then followed the instructions from there...Now im real new to all this so im sure there may be easier ways...My phone is rooted, I have my MSL, so i have to ask... Now what?

Exactly
You and me both are wondering this. It would be sweet to run this device on CyanogenMod.
I second that
We need Cyanogenmod for this device!

I hope they come out with a custom recovery and custom rom SOON . There's so many things I'd like to see happen with this phone . If a dev sees this i hope he/she can make something happen Plleeaassee !!!!
Anyone making progress on this phone? I too would like to have Cyanogenmod on it if possible!
I used the method show at androidforums. com/threads/prevail-lte-root.906261/ to root 2 devices mine and my wife's both work fine with SU enabled too. Now I just need some custom roms to make it work like it should have from factory lol
Bump!
Just wondering if there is a user friendly rooting method for this Samsung Galaxy Core Prime out yet?

My bad for n00b question but where do i find the correct custom ROM & hotspot & cf?
Any idiot proof tutorial or youtube on this for step by step how to?
The ones ive read of using custom ROM enough have reported bricking their phones some of which have been recovered & others not.
Then ive read some missing features like tethering/hot spot.
Mainly i want to easy move all 3 parts of data of an apps to my 128gb SD cause the available on-board 5gb ill use up in less than a month.
KingRoot has a root exploit for the newest Galaxy Prevail LTE. I'm rooted and running the Xposed Framework.
Can give u hotspot for $20

I'm not sure their is any devs actively working on it.
I wish their was though.
You never know unless you try
I would also like to see a custom recovery and rom made for this device... who do i need to contact to expidite this process or can anyone walk me threw how to do so
How did you get the MSL? I haven't been able to find a tool that has worked. Thanks
I have a GT-N8013 which I have rooted a while back. Well my husband decided to get me a N8000ZSCMD1 so I would have 3G. After getting it and having the SIM slot not working and replacing that, I am now trying to root it. Odin tells me it was successful but when I do a power + up I get the original software.
I have found out that this model is actually from Twain (which is funny since that is where my husband was born). I don't know if I need a special CWM to install on here? I did a lot of searching on the Internet and didn't find much. I saw some stuff in Chinese but I can't read it and my husband came here when he was 4, so he is not help either.
I am used to the new Android seupt from my Galaxy Note 4 and my rooted Galaxy Note 10.1 wifi. So I would really like to get this updated.
Any info would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Root does not change the software it in effect gives the user administrative rights at the root level and changes nothing .
Root check use one of the root check tools from play store .

I finally got it to root using this website: http://wccftech.com/guide-root-xxcma2-android-412-jelly-bean-galaxy-note-101-n8000/
I hope my time and frustration will help someone in the future.
I see posts for every other carrier model but Cricket.
Can anybody make some pre-rooted Roms and a recovery for this model? I'm also here to learn if anyone has time to teach.
I'm currently on G360AZTUU3AOH1 and don't want to attempt to flash other versions(Like G360H or G360P) and brick my device as this is my only phone at the moment.
I'm rooted now, but would like to get an upgrade as there's tons of app crashes on the current version.
How did you root? Was it just an app like Kingroot? I'm looking to get root but I'm afraid of bricking my phone after all the horror stories I read.
Latest version of Kingoroot works on this phone and I feel that the kingroot apk would work but I didn't try it yet and had trouble with the windows version of Kingroot.
It amazes me how there is alot of work done on the G360H yet hardly any on the G360AZ. With alot of people using coreprimelte references it is making it difficult to secure good leads on ways to work on this phone as it is rather special I guess.
I hope someone can follow up on a recovery and rom compatibility info. Bought this phone as a cheap play-a-round phone only to find there isn't much I can do with it atm.
I did manage to get a Nandroid backup of the phone to my pc. Working on doing some tests to make sure it can be made into a Odin file. If so I plan to get it posted.
I agree, I want to try Kingroot but don't want to eff up the phone for fear of not fixing it
