I have the ZTE Rapido Lte from straight talk and was wondering if anyone has found a way to root this phone yet. I have tried program after program and no avail. I am on android 4.1.2. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.
ZTE Rapido
I also just got this phone. I have been religiously trying different root methods. None have worked out for me. I've run out of answers. I imagine there is a dev out there somewhere trying to release a new rev of Framaroot that would cover this phone. As of rootandroid.com this is not rootable of yet. I am not used to having an unrooted phone and I hate not having root. I hope someone else replies so we aren't stuck in the grip and mercy of the manufacturer.
I just got one today, I tried a bunch of methods as well to no avail. If there is anyone that can help I can pull an image from the phone so that others with more technical expertise might be able to go over it and find a way to root it.
More specifically, what kind of image would be needed? Any statistical info is available on the manufacturers website. In the case of a system image, what process and software would be needed? i will image mine if I have a procedure to follow.
I'm very interested in this myself. I just got one a few days ago and am already missing my rooted and ROMed Droid X. Please someone save us.
Same here I have tried framaroot z4root towel root root master root genius poot and none worked. Someone please help

Damn.
I just bought this phone for my Mom--her first smartphone since Verizon is the only thing in her coverage area. She's having trouble with the ringtones being too flat and not loud enough on the device.
I was hoping someone would've figured out a root for this beautiful little prepaid ZTE so I could somehow increase her ringtone/alert volume level. Maybe I'll poke around with the phone next time I'm near it.
So far she can answer calls and get on Skype

I just rooted mine with king root apk. http://androidxda.com/download-kingroot-application or Google it. Make sure you download the latest version and if you don't get success on the first try keep trying it took me three tries. Please confirm if it works for you...

Tried the KingoRoot download. Tried 17 times. Never once got a positive from any root checker app

Has anyone got root for ZTE Rapido LTE Z932L?
Any progress?
Just checking in to see if anybody had any progress on rooting the Z932L.
I haven't seen any posts online on any site of people making any progress or even talking about this phone anymore, but it would still be nice if it was rootable.

So i've searched this entire forum for topics dealing with the samsung appeal. Not only does this site have not much if anything no other sites have much either. I've got an appeal and im looking to root it as well as other tips and tricks. It's similar to the captivate with the qwerty key board but i've yet to find anything on how to root this phone. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem. I bought the appeal when switching to AT&T, but did not want a contract.
It does not seem to be a popular phone for developers. I am hoping there is a older root guide that will work with the Appeal (I827). If not I am willing to try and root the phone manually. I have not worked with Android coding much and could use a guide.
Thanks for any help!

It would be a much more decent phone if it was rooted.
Samsung Galaxy Appeal Root
First off, I take NO credit for this guide. I do not know much about rooting phones or exploits.
However, I have spent a considerable amount of time searching for a way to root this phone.
I have not tried this yet, but a few friends who have rooted various phones say it should work. It was last updated early September, 2012.
The only download (aside from drivers) is hboot.
I registered specifically to include this, so I cannot link it yet (just remove the newlines).

So I just tried this, and it turns out the z4root exploit doesn't work.
I'm using Android 2.3.6 with kernel 2.6.38.6 on a Samsung model SGH-I827, if it makes a difference.
Further attempts show anything using the rageagainstthecage exploit doesn't work. This rules out most of the One Click-based applications.
I'm trying GingerBreak 1.2 when I can get a microSD card.
Sorry if this is bringing up an old thread, but I just got this phone... is there any chance of ever seeing root for this phone?
Have you tried Gingerbreak? Its worked on 4/5 Android devices I've owned.

The phone is running Gingerbread 2.3.6. From what I have researched, Gingerbreak only works only up to 2.3.3. I have read that some other people have tried it, but no success. There is also something called SuperOneClick (I believe), which, apparently does not work on this phone as well...?

Extremely frustrating. been trying alot my self but nothing works yet and no one outside the usual copy paste linkers will help. i fear the devs of the rooting community just don't want to help on this one as i hav'nt recieved a single response on the many forums i've asked about this, even under thier official rooting pages etc. quite frankly i'm getting fed up.
In all honesty I fixed my infuse a while ago and it started acting upagain so I dreaded it but used the appeal. The appeal is basically the cheapest most standard type of smartphone there is. Yes it would be better with root (and better ram) but I don't believe it has the capabilities to be rooted without making it unresponsive over worked and generally being hated by all. So I'd hate to say it but no one wants to root this phone bc of all the complaints it would cause like bricking ect. But do not get discouraged. If you want to root talk more about it and I'm sure someone will write a root code for this phone. On another not it still has quite a bit of functions and customizable aspects like go launcher ik works to fully theme ur phone and speed it up.

Yo Appeal guys. I come from another low activity device board so I feel your pain. I do operate primarily from another forum entirely but hang here as well.
Anyways, more to the point: I may have a method that should work for you guys. It's been up for a couple weeks with no "yay" or "nay" to it's functionality though. Anyone familiar with the "update.zip" root method?...
Root update.zip
The results of this, like I said, have yet to be seen, but common results are as follows:
1. Full root and userdata wipe (something weird in the recovery framework]
2. Signature verification failure and no root acheived.
XDA tends to be more daring than the general public, so this is a good place for such a package.
Enjoy!

Anyone ready for a round 2?
Appeal CWM 5.0.2.8
This recovery should work with that zip, no problem. Installs with odin3 v1.8 somethin, whatever works on the Ace+
(original thread: http://androidarea51.com/***-all-things-root-***-197/(recoveryroot)-clockworkmod-5-0-2-8-appeal/)
if you follow the link Motorhead posted, we have gotten CWM working and Root on Galaxy Appeal, info is in the thread... and you need odin3 v1.85 to install cwm and the you flash the root update.zip from cwm, so wait no more Appeal users have at it lol...
i have been lead tester on the appeal, i have tested these things myself and we also had another user jump on as i was testing CWM and then Root, i walked him through it and everything went well for him, i am going to be working on a basic deodexed debloated rom build for the Appeal as well in the next couple days, my first shot at android development, so check out http ://android area51. com/ to keep up on our latest developments... we specialize in prepaid android devices, mostly straight talk, but if you troll around the forums long enough you might just get somebody to take your phone on as a project like i did lol, big thanks to Motorhead, DroidHost and everyone over at AA51 for cracking the blind open allowing me to slide down into the rabbit hole lol, and a big thanks to XDA for being such a wealth of information and source of research for me to go deeper and deeper, i'll be sure to credit individual users on my ROM release.
That didn't work for me either.

So the Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE (aka Samsung Galaxy Core Prime) has been on the market for almost 3 months now, and I've yet to find any applications or methods to root this device.
Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places?
So far I've tried the following:
-iRooot (formerly vRoot)
-Kingo
-TowelRoot
-OneClickRoot
-SRSroot
Also I've tried to root via the ADB push method to load busybox and su. However, hooking the Android up to a machine running Ubuntu and launching Nautilus, I'm unable to see or browse the directories on the device.
So does anyone have any recommendations or know of any apps or methods that might work?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Unfortunately these phones don't seem to be very common or sold in certain territories making it difficult for developers to root them. Keep looking for a root as you never know when one will come out but as far as I'm aware the phone has not been successfully rooted yet.
kingroot_4.0.0 so far is what ive found. not like having su but i can install viper and xposed and both work so its a improvement.
There is a root available over on Androidforums.com under the heading "prevail LTE root". It uses another recovery and rooting for another model samsung but it does work ok. I tried it on my prevail LTE and is currently running rooted right now. When you first do it I recommend you do it after a fresh wipe and then wipe again immediately thereafter because it will give you a system UID error if not. So use Titanium Backup to restore apps and settings after you wipe ( judiciously). I've talked to shabbypenguin to see if he would develop a recovery for it. He's busy so I guess I mean I'm waiting right now for him to get to it.<br />

Now how do we get a custom recovery cause im having a brain fart. But this is only my second phone to root and last one was pretty much 2 yrs old and i just followed a forum.
I used the latest version of Kingroot and it was a simple one-click root. The version i used was in Chinese, i think, but i went to their website through chrome on my laptop and just let google translate the page and then followed the instructions from there...Now im real new to all this so im sure there may be easier ways...My phone is rooted, I have my MSL, so i have to ask... Now what?

Any idiot proof tutorial or youtube on this for step by step how to?
The ones ive read of using custom ROM enough have reported bricking their phones some of which have been recovered & others not.
Then ive read some missing features like tethering/hot spot.
Mainly i want to easy move all 3 parts of data of an apps to my 128gb SD cause the available on-board 5gb ill use up in less than a month.
KingRoot has a root exploit for the newest Galaxy Prevail LTE. I'm rooted and running the Xposed Framework.

How did you get the MSL? I haven't been able to find a tool that has worked. Thanks
I've totally given up on this & explain in my last post, below.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To start with I wish to say a few things to be as clear as possible:
I have been visiting here for a couple of years already, but never registered because frankly - I was intimidated. I am not a dev, or a coder - I am merely a guy who enjoys tinkering a bit - and I have discovered how much fun cheap Android devices can be.
Lately a chain store has an Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar A460G (TCL) from tracfone.
It has a nice 4" screen, Android 4.4.2 and better specs than my LG L34C - so I got it.
Searched extensively and the closest info I found was here at this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/andr...icial-t3193624
It seemed to root with Kingo Root - but only temporarily and its Superuser doesn't work very well at all.
Even tried the method here - but it starts & never completes:
http://androidxda.com/replace-kinguser-with-supersu
I really want to root this phone and would be happy even if I must use the app to re-install V4.3 from here:
http://alcatelonetouch.com/global-en...0126103150.rar
Also, there is a great bit of info posted here with a de-bloated stock ROM & recovery - but how can I flash it if it will not fully root and/or SU does not work ??
It seems most likely this phone has its bootloader locked by tracfone, and that maybe it is what stops it from rooting - but I do not know enough to be sure.
Any pointers to good help will be hugely appreciated.
Thanks.
Also...
I tried Kingroot on this Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar (A460G, TCL, mt6582) running 4.4.2 .
It took a few tries (as suggested) and seemed to do...something - but not enough.
I very much hope some tool or something comes along soon that will allow full access to the file system on this phone as it really seems to be a very nice device.
Best Wishes to All.

Post what you can here as working via PM or email does not help anyone else facing the same issues.
Please Post. screenshots (or links to images), logs (from mdrt and spflashtool)(Just add .txt to the end if they do not have it) , The Android mt6582 scatter.txt that mdrt produced. :good:
Can you also please clarify your exact model as there seems to be different versions
Mediatek MT6572M (3G model)
Qualcomm MSM8909 (4G model)
This likely goes against the spirit of this place, but:
After quite literally wasting days trying to get past all the restrictions on this phone I've given up.
There are 2 major things which seem apparent to me from this experience=>
1 - Tracfone has made it impossible to root this phone - or at least so difficult as not to be worth it;
2- Kitkat is just plain nasty because of all the excessive restrictions it has.
End result here is that I have managed to get most everything I desired in another phone instead.
It is an Alcatel C1 AT&T Gophone.
It rooted in a minute, takes my CC sim card and instantly connects to my home Wifi.
After all this I've listed the A460G for sale, cheaply and if it does not sell that is OK as its charger & battery are the same as my new phone's and it can be used as an outside battery charger if/when I swap out batteries.
Conclusions:
- Avoid Tracfone...they and their products are just evil;
- Avoid Kitkat whenever possible or be prepared to fight it for any decent use a'tall.
Thanks for taking the time to read my query.
Hi,
Also got a Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar A460G that I would like to root. I DL CPU-X and CPU-Z and both listed the Soc as a dual core 1.3GHz Mediatek MT6582.
Searching using "Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar A460G" this was the only post I found.
While I have never Rooted any Android phone am willing to spend some time searching for other rooting apps and hope to be successful with some guidance from more experienced members.
Recently I have changed my search to "root MT6582" and have found a few posts that claim to be able to root any listed MediaTek hardware.

I think I tried that one, but cannot be 100% certain as my list got messed up at one point.
Is yours also a tracfone ??
Seems to me that most of my problems were because of how tracfone locked it down so badly.
I will be very curious to see what you post back about your device and your success; please do tell how it goes ??
Addendum=>
This "Graphical Auto Root tool" is something that instantly 'updates' then morphs into root genius, which did not work for my phone at all.
Thanks.
Hi vtsnaab,
Yes mine is a TracFone.
Searched using "Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar" and all I found was TracFone.
"Seems to me that most of my problems were because of how tracfone locked it down so badly" "After quite literally wasting days trying to get past all the restrictions on this phone I've given up." "I will be very curious to see what you post back about your device and your success; please do tell how it goes ??" As previously mentioned, I have never done this so will keep searching until find a post that has been successful.
Wonder if this same phone is sold under different brand names or networks?
Since this is a Chinese Soc am guessing if anyone has been able to Root it the post will be in Chinese. Since I am not fluent, hope some others are!
Regards
Ken
IMO, rooting is not really optional; most pre-paid devices I've ever seen or used are too crapped up as sold & therefore rather useless unless they can be de-crapified after successful rooting.
With a tool that actually works fully - it is usually quite simple from those I have done myself.
The Chinese ones I've seen & tried usually pretty obvious once opened; they connect visibly, and it has been obvious, like having a big button to click on, then wait for success or failure.
A couple of rooting tools have recently updated, but right now I am not eager to waste any more time fooling around with the very pretty glorified battery charger called 'A460G'.
Maybe if it sits & gathers dust for a time here someone will have an ah-hah moment with one & it will get resurrected, else - no biggie for me for it to sit around.
Best Wishes KenithO in your quest.
Please post back here with what you may learn ??
Thanks.

A quick search led me to this thread here and kingroot seems to work but only temporarily. I'm guessing temporarily would mean after a reboot, the root is gone. Root the phone and make a backup of recovery.img and boot.img (kernel) with the Flashify app.
Common ways of rooting if one-click methods don't work are flashing a custom recovery and then flashing SuperSU. You will need to generate a scatter file for your device then make a backup with SmartPhoneFlashTool (SPFT).

Generally speaking as a non-dev, this site has become less & less useful as time has passed - and that 'evil' poster is helping nobody - just making board spam.
This used to be THE place to find the best info when one wanted to gain root access.
Since the makers have come up with ever worse & worse ways to lock down their krapware there is less & less hope to gain root access anymore, basically, to sum it all up as an over-simplified generality:
If Kingo or Kingroot will not work on most any post-Kitkat device, then that's that - and even if one of those DOES work, there's a strong likelihood of being stuck with their krapware because a great deal of the time the only 'cure' for it is SuperSU-Me, and it fails quite often.
But - not to worry...
Once there are landfills with huge piles of orphaned/broken devices I'm sure someone will come up with clever ways to make them into Big Macs or something else equally useful & toxic !!
For me - the Android journey has mostly turned into keeping a list of what is useless and/or a waste of time; Alcatel & Tracfone are VERY high up that list of things & companies to avoid.
As of today's date (11-24-16) I was able to fully root my Alcatel One Touch Pixi (A460G) TracFone, running 4.4.2 KitKat, in about 5 minutes using the latest version of KingoRoot (v1.4.8.2793) with USB Debugging (PC->Phone) after two tries. Everything seems to be working: SD read/write, BusyBox, etc. The only thing I wish I could figure out now is how to replace KingoRoot's featureless default SU app with SuperSU.
If KingoRoot doesn't succeed the first time, keep trying. The second, third or fourth try usually gets it on the more difficult devices. Hope this helps someone in the future.
EDIT: PLEASE DISREGARD. See my followup post below.

I regretfully recant my earlier statement above and sincerely apologize if I mistakenly offered any others false hope. I was fooled into believing my A460G was rooted because of the strange way it mounts internal & external storage. It seems that the A460G views the external SD card as internal storage & the internal storage as an external card which allows full read/write access to the external SD card out of the box.
Currently, I am still looking for a way to root this phone. AlcatelROOT.com has nothing whatsoever on the Pixi Pulsar (A460G), neither does Google or Yahoo it seems. I am open to suggestions.
EDIT: I also request that the forum mods remove the "[RESOLVED]" tag in the subject line of this thread as the A460G has not, thus far, been successfully rooted that any of us are aware of. Thanks.
In theory, if we had a custom recovery, we could just flash recovery and install supersu. Right?

sorry bud but you would still need to unlock the bootloader somehow before flashing a recovery which would mean you need to root it first or find an exploit
This phone can be rooted by first unlocking the bootloader as I did con a zte prestige phone locked to sprint/boost thanks to "farkin genius" Mr. Hroark13, the solución, it's on these forums. Afaik, it's an ADB command done while connecting phone to pc and it should work. Haven't tried it yet. Look up
"zte prestige temp root achieved xda".
It could be your ticket to rooting this bastard. Shame con you Alcatel and tracfone + bigbrother.
"This was found by me (Hroark13),I can not believe it was this easy
To turn off nand / system write protection on the ZTE ZMAX and maybe other phones
run this command in adb shell or terminal
reboot disemmcwp
to re-enable write protection issue this command
reboot emmcwpenab
I AM A FARKING GENIUS"
Massive credit goes to Mr. Hroark13
So basically use this command and then use ur favorite way to root and same as usual. Bada-boom Bada-bing permanent root. Restarted 10 times and never lost root.
Fu evilmaiden for being selfish
Hi everyone
I hope to get a once and for all answer to this question. I always hate rooting my phones purely because of the immense information overload everytime. Anyways here is my story.
I would like to root my phone inorder to get read write access to my system folder inorder to make a few changes. That is it. I don't wanna flash my phone, don't wanna dual boot it with like 20 different roms. None of that.
As a result I'm looking for a simple approach to just root my phone. So flashing the Xiaomi Developer Rom is out of the question. This where the information overload started. Yesterday I started by typing in Root Xiaomi Mi4 on Google and I got firstly the offical Dev Rom and next I got something called iRoot where everyone on Xda pretty much synonomously just said no, some even said that's a no go rather look at vRoot which was very mandarin and so confirmed by Xda yet again however someone then mentioned Kingoroot which seemed pretty decent and so I started with that however as I was waiting for it to detect my phone I came across a don't use Kingoroot or you will die type post on the Xiaomi Forums on Android Police that even referenced Xda removing Kingoroot because it was that bad. As you can imagine I've never janked a cable from my phone quicker than that. So back to the drawing board where someone then mentioned a KingRoot which I just couldn't find and a farmaroot which was almost just as quickly written off as malicious as what I had found it.
Point is I just want to root my phone to make a few settings changes, why is this such an issue. Can someone on here please just once and for all tell me. What is a simple safe way or program that I can use to root my phone that isn't gonna steal my phones virtual liver and sell it on the droid market please.
Thank you for your time and assistance

Thanks Xperia U Lover
So just to confirm my original post then, is KingoRoot now safe to use again, was it ever not safe to use or was this article just nonsense: androidnews. co. in/2013/11/08/psa-use-kingo-root-vroot-root-android-device
Thanks
how to root for kingoroot;
Like many other threads I have browsed through, I too am having issues with King Root rooting and then suddenly rebooting my phone. After a successful reboot in the midst of not even 30% complete of rooting being complete, it still says my phone is rooted until the reboot occurs. After the reboot, it says I am not rooted. So, I still assume that King Root still has no methods to root this model yet. However, I am dealing with two issues I was hoping to get someone with experience, expertise, or just very smart with rooting Android platforms.
1. I was wondering if there is a way to root this model whether it can be done with with or without a computer or laptop. King Root has now become a system application that I can't remove because I don't have root access. I've tried everything to get rid of it. It constantly on a daily basis notifies me that it's trying to or that I need to try to gain root access. I would not have any issue reverting back to original firmware as hard reset has done nothing.
2. Is there a different firmware (I prefer the most recent update) available for this model? I could live with reverting back to the original firmware when I bought the phone in July 2016 from Cricket Wireless. I am not able due to the hardware or software thinking I'm rooted or suspicious of rooting so the update won't process after downloading.
This is my first post. Sorry, if I seem like a newbie here. I just haven't found any relevant answers on Google or searching the forums for similar posts. If there is a way to root successfully, please provide links or some instructions on how to do so. If not, I hope someone can help me revert my firmware to the newest or factory bought. Anything to just get rid of King Root and I know and have already accomplished disabling KR for the time being despite doing hard reset twice already. Is it possible to replace firmware with a new ROM as well?
Thanks for your time and God bless.
