Switch from #superuser to SuperSU - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using Caulkins 2.1 Rom which has #superuser installed by default. It has the Superuser menu under settings, too. However, I have always preferred SuperSU. On top of that, I can not disable notifications from #superuser for some reason, even though I have them disabled under their menu. How can I go about completely replacing #superuser with SuperSU?

Isn't there a function to remove Superuser somewhere within its menu? Just do that then flash SuperSU.

Install SuperSU and then simply delete superuser.apk or whatever from /system/app or priv-app then reboot your device.

This room has a built-in superuser so yes, it's rooted. But since the superuser is built-in you won't see any superuser app. If you don't like it then you can disable it and use any superuser app, otherwise don't bother cuz it works anyway...

First, install your own superuser, but don't disable the built-in one. Launch your superuser, let him update its binaries if needed, and let him get superuser permissions from the built-in superuser.
Here you go, now you can disable the built-in superuser and use your one.
I did it this way and it worked, so it should be the same for you.
But for now if your superusers are messed just flash again the rom, wipe dalvik and cache and start fresh.
Good luck!

CM11 get rid of Superuser?

I'm using a CM11 ROM, and Superuser is giving me problems - throws up errors now & again. I like and want to use SuperSU, but Superuser is integrated into the ROM.
How can I get rid of Superuser and replace with SuperSU (preferably just using my phone, no ADB).

in the integrated superuser menu(can be found in device settings), if you open settings, you have the option of giving superuser access to "disabled" (by default it is apps only).
after disabling you just have to flash the supersu zip file(can be found on the supersu xda forum) via recovery mode. and you're done.
I flash the superSU.zip after flashing CM11 and Gapps so superSU is the main root app. Never had an issue.
Please keep it friendly and there is no need for name calling of any kind. We tend not to like people resurrecting old threads, but seen as this came in handy for someone there's no harm done.

In the SuperSU settings, there is a setting called something like "Respect Cyanogenmod Settings". Uncheck that.
Thnx alot! Works great! Now i just have to change that stupid google dialer that's in cm11

Titanium Backup not working on CM12

The newest version of TiBu is supposed to work with lollipop, but I have tried both the temesek and other unofficial CM12 and it would not work for either one. Just sits there trying to restore the first app and does nothing else.
It would not be a problem if I could get another app backup program to work, but I cannot install RomToolbox since it errors out on 12, and Helium will not backup some of my apps that I really need backed up.
no issue using titanium here
What version is your titanium backup?
Are you using the latest version of supersu? 2.35

TiBu should definitely work, check that you're using the right version of SuperSU as per @zephiK has said. If for some reason you can't get it working you can try this app:

Thanks for everyone's help. I updated SuperSU and it works fine now.\
To anyone that might still have this problem,
don't forget that you have to check "unknown sources"
and uncheck the security analysis of the device by the google play services...
In cyanogenmod 12 I don't need the SuperSU App, because CM handles root permission, doesn't it?
What happens if I would install it?
As of right now, with CM12 root manager, you can backup the apps, but it will not install them back. System related backups seem to work both ways.

It disables built in superuser and enables SuperSU. Superuser and TiBU don't play nice together though, it's recommended to use SuperSU with TiBU

If i flash a newer nightly, cwm asks me to "fix root".
So do I have to reinstall SuperSU each time I update my system?

If you install the app from the market, you can restore using the data only option in tibk without needing super Su installed.
With the latest Update (7.0.x) it works with CM's su, too! *happy*

That's what I done, it's the donate version as well. It didn't work. Today I found a download link for apk file and that worked. But I can't get the paid version from play store to work

Installed TWRP but SuperSU is not working!!

Installed TWRP but SuperSU is not working!!
installed TWRP via Inthiaano One Plus One Toolbox & have installed SuperSU...but Root Checker or titanium says i don't have root access!
What should i do?
Have you flashed supersu binary zip?

Why not just flash SuperSU manually? Why not just do everything manually? Toolkits are notoriously unreliable.

If you flash SuperSU and it doesn't show up in your drawer, go to the Play Store and download SuperSU by chainfire. This should prompt all of the binary updates and root access that you're looking for. I just updated to 44S and this happened to me.

[Q] SuperSU permission problem

I have SuperSU v2.40 on CM11S. Initially when I started using apps that required root worked with the prompt. I was trying to give root permission to MultiROM Manager via the prompt and for some reason the prompt window is unresponsive to taps/touches. This problem also happens in any new app that also requires root access. I tried disabling the prompt and selecting the option to grant all apps root permission and that seems to solve the problem, but obviously that is not something I'd like to use on a daily basis. Is this a known issue with SuperSU? What should I do to fix this? Re-install? I did not find any way to add apps to the SuperSU list manually (on the non-Pro version), is there one?
I installed root by flashing it through TWRP (2.8.4.1) after completely restoring back to CM11S (44S, Stock Kernel) via fastboot couple of days back.
UPDATE: The problem was with Tapjacking protection under SuperSU's Settings. Switched off temporarily, gave some apps the root permission and switched it back on.
UPDATE 2: The problem was because of Lux. The app controls the brightness by putting an overlay which prevents you from tapping the SuperSU prompt.
Came here to say exactly what you found out lol glad you figured it out
If you ever have issues trying to install an apk in the future, it's due to the same thing with lux. Disable it temporarily and you will be able to click the install button for the apk.
