OnePlus One Poor battery life due to wakelocks - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had this phone for about a month and all. It was alright most of the time until I recently did a factory reset. Strangly it all went downhill from there. The phone started suffering hardcore wakelock issues. Overnight I'm losing about 50% battery if I decided not to charge it overnight.
I did another factory reset thinking it might fix the issues I had but it didn't so I went with hard reset. None of the actions taken have worked.
I downloaded Wakelock Detector ( really no use since it requires root for everything ) and BetterBatteryStats. BBS told me that event0-796 and event2-796 is whats keeping my phone awake ( screenshot in attachments ), not going to deep sleep ( I have attached some more screenshots from Settings/Battery and BetterBatteryStats if that helps... )
What should I do ?
Thanks in advance, Erik

Same here, I have the same issue. Seems related to WIFI

You can find more information here, although there doesn't seem to be any real solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/event0-wakelocks-t2957829
I'm just going to deal with it. The phone still gets me at least 5hrs SOT throughout the day, and I always charge it at night. The wakelocks itself don't really bother me personally, it's just the knowing they're there.

The event wakelocks are irrelevant. I'm certain its an app thats keeping your phone awake so pay attention to the partial wakelock and alarms section in BBS. Also install wakelock detector and see whats keeping it awake.

Don't forget to hit thanks!

P6210 - Huge Battery Drain on ICS

Anyone experiencing battery drain on ICS? I upgraded, rooted, and removed some of the bloatware to help. Thought it was fixed but my tab is dead again. Says the Android OS is taking up my juice. Was never a problem before. Could leave it on standby for days with HC. Now its dead in a day or less.

I initially saw similar behavior, but once I killed the cached processes once, and since have shut down to charge and started new, I haven't seen that behavior.
Do you have WiFi on? Could it be you have apps that are checking to be updated? I know in the past on my phone my Amazon Appstore has a habit of starting itself up and continually checking for updates for itself and for any apps I got from Amazon.
Tried it both ways...wifi on and off.
Try using CPU spy (free in market) or betterbatterystats (free- search for it here on XDA) to see what is eating up your battery exactly.

I noticed that I had a conflict between "Power Savings" settings and the "Display" settings. Putting them both at 1 minute resulted in an always on screen I had to disable the Power Savings to correct the problem.
I did have something odd happen yesterday that seems to have kept my screen on for 4 hours. When I got home and opened my case the tab was very warm, and shut off. And all but entirely out of power, before that it has used about 10 % in 17 hours of standby with about an hour of use, or so.
I think it is possible that an app that previously didn't keep the screen on is now for some reason keeping it on, and I didn't notice when I closed the leather cover.
No issues today, but I am going to try and see if I can find some release notes to tell me about the new download for ICS for the P6210, perhaps this is addressed?
Just to update I installed the betterbatterystats. I showed a couple of things that were keeping my tab awake. Once I fixed those I thought that would be it but it was still draining. I then installed juice defender and had it turn wifi off every time I turned the screen off. That did it. Was never like this before the update but at least its good to know I fixed it.
i suggest checking better battery stats for AudioOut_1 Partial Wakelock. its been draining my phone fast when i upgraded to ICS.
check it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629346
now my battery is working great.. i just left my tab for 10 hrs in the locker when i got the tab its still have 97% battery.
for me i just checked and changed my wifi sleep policy from never to when screen turns off and its fine now. :highfive:
I thought about this very issue; I decided to wait.

Did you download the ICS as opensource? Myself, I am deciding to wait for the OFFICIAL verson to be released.
I had the same problem. i even went back to HC to make sure
the issue is not there (it wasn't) and upgraded to ICS
again (full wipe all the time). No luck something keeps
my device unable to go to deep sleep.
Now i'm back at HC again

The version is OFFICIAL .
It's just available only for some countries.
i had the huge battery drain issue while in stock ICS..
the tablet simply refused point blank to go into deep sleep.. in HC it would but not in ICS.. i would take the tablet fully charged to work and not use it much there.. by the time i was travelling back it would be 60% drained in not using it througout the day...
recently flashed to aorths CM9 build and all my battery woes are gone.. now when i get back from work the battery is at 96%!!
battery drain during usage is the same but the CM9 build has awesome battery conservation stuffs for when you dont use it..
would suggest everyone who has these battery issues to move to CM9.. really helped for me.
My battery usage on CM9..

Early results show Juice Defender is helping a lot with mine too. Thanks for the tip!
Next morning: Just the free version of Juice Defender using the default profile took me from 35% overnight drain yesterday down to 3% overnight drain today. That's not bad. It should be even better tomorrow because I've turned off all location services after seeing that BetterBatteryStats says Google location is the worst single offender at keeping wifi going overnight.

Could you tell me how you "killed cached processes" please?
I am having similar battery drain. I am in the process of completely charging battery after it drained 40% in sleep mode last night, wifi off in sleep mods, notifications off, sync off.
I have already done a reset to factory, tried draining battery, and recharged in off position.
Nothing is helping so far. I have installed better battery stats, and CPU spy this morning, and will have data tomorrow morning.
thanks for any help

I had the same exact problem ever since the stock ICS update. My Tab Plus is all stock, no mods at all. The battery would completely drain after one day, and I have very little on the Tab Plus. Nothing helped at all, so I finally bit and did a factory wipe. The battery drain stopped immediately, so I started changing the settings back to the way I like it.
Then, next day the battery went completely dead again! I back tracked and figured out exactly what it is which makes absolutely NO SENSE - turning off wifi in sleep was what was draining the battery! See my screen captures. Notice on the first screen shot, as soon as the wifi stays on the battery drop bar stayed almost flat.
I observed a similar behavior on my 100% stock AT&T GS3 phone also, turning wifi off during sleep causes more battery drain.
I'm getting "suspend backoff" under kernel wakelocks which is preventing my tab going to deep sleep when unused. Everytime I wakeup in the morning my tab is dead. The only solution I found was to turn off wifi if I'm not using it. Anyway fixing this?

Juice Defender. The free version of the app, using the default profile, should take care of this.

[BIG] Battery drain

hi everybody, since one or two weeks i see i have a big battery drain when my phone is "inactive"... how to resolve this please?
Your screenshot doesn't tell us anything. Further debugging can be found using BetterBatteryStats / Gsam / Wakelock Detector, root is required.
A app is preventing your phone from deep sleeping.
The only thing your screenshot does show us is that Play Services is there, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-google-play-services-battery-t2832525
View that to fix that but theres definitely more to it than Play Services.

I don't understand your question. In actuality, it takes a couple days for your phone to settle in the new kernel if thats what you're asking.
As long as your phone is properly deep sleeping, you shouldn't be worrying.
You can find out by using 1 of the 3 apps I mentioned previously.

i say, is it possible that the battery drain comes from new kernel?(AK)
also thanks for your help dude, and i modified googleplay services as you've told me with my fresh install of cm11...
I have 2 days of battery life almost and still have 20% left. I use this phone heavily and haven't recharged.
I had the same problem where 60% drain overnight.
Now 2 says.
All I did was turn off Facebook Location services.
That's it.
Facebook was draining so much. I have Wifi on, GPS with High Accuracy.
Facebook always drains a significant amount of battery, I prefer using the mobile website but if you must need the app then greenify it.

Rapid battery drain and weird GSam results! :(

Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I posted on the forum since although I wasn't overly happy with my battery life, it wasn't giving me too many problems. However the last couple of days have been a nightmare! For the record, my phone is not rooted.
I've attached some screen shots which I took on the fly, but I've been getting some really weird results from GSam. Since the 500% result I've reset the cache and the other images are what the battery is currently using.
However since its draining so fast I can barely see myself able to go anywhere without a charger!
I usually leave wifi and 4g off overnight anyway so when I woke up earlier I was surprised to see it with a 10% drain from doing absolutely nothing. I had to put it into power saving mode last night as I needed my alarm for the morning and was worried the phone would drain too quickly.
As far as I can tell the phone is sometimes entering deep sleep and sometimes not. It wasn't at all last night and isn't currently either. I really have no idea what the problem is and wanted to feel out some ideas before I factory reset the phone for the second time. I kind of wanted to avoid it if poss but am beginning to think it might be the only option. I'm also now worried there's something wrong with the battery
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Try debloating stock rom, use free debloater from XDA (You dont need root to use it). I've uploaded my list of debloated apps as reference, double check what You'r using and if You'r not sure what app does what try google-ing it.
You can also try disabling stock Chrome browser and install Chrome Beta (I've been using it for few years and never had any problems with it)
Also beware of disabling Samsung Store etc. as some members of XDA pointed that after disabling it, it won't work untill factory reset.
Check my previous posts, I've uploaded screenshots of my battery life with debloated rom from this list.
Does it work on Mac? I don't have a Windows computer. I've not done this sort of thing before, is it easy to do? :/
I'll look up chrome beta but I don't know if it's anything to do with that since it's pretty bad even when I'm not using anything. I wish I could tell what was rinsing my phone battery. Maybe I should attempt to root it after all.

How can I find what is keeping my phone awake all the time?

I recently bought a Lefe Blade X8 (can't find any details online about this model, it was very cheap and had decent gear so I bought it) and I'm satisfied with it except one thing. Battery is draining so fast even when I'm not using it. So I checked the battery stats in the options and saw that phone never goes into deep sleep, it's always awake. Then I started the phone in safe mode to see if it was an app causing it, I left the phone running in safe mode at night and checked the stats again.
Here is the stats: (It seems I can't post the image link as a new user) %100 to %50 in 12 hours without using the phone, WiFi %22, Phone Idle %20.
It seems that I have a Wi-Fi problem, as you can see at top Wi-Fi was off all night but at the stats screen it seems like it was on.
I installed Wakelock Detector and checked the kernel wakelocks, and the biggest wakelocks were ttyC0 and EINT. I will share a detailed Wakelock Detector screenshot when I got the chance.

Insane Idle Battery Drain

Hi,
I'm getting some insane levels of idle battery drain recently. A bit of background,
- US Stock
- Rooted
- SuperCID
I was having this battery drain everyday for about 2 weeks, so I wiped my phone and started fresh. Since I did, I've been slowly introducing only a few apps everyday, and the battery was perfect until today.
All I did since yesterday when it was good, was tether to my laptop for an hour, and when I noticed a few hours later that the drain was back I removed the Bluetooth pairing completely. But the drain remains.
My phone sits in an awake state with the screen off for 99% of the time.
Here are some screenshots from Better Battery Stats and Wakelock Detector which don't seem to show much apart from a Google sensor.
http://imgur.com/a/eKqjl
Desperate for help because as much as I love this phone, with this situation it is barely usable.
Some more screenshots. Wakelock Detector and Android Settings.
The only red flag I can see is something called "Significant Motion(12)" which was awake for almost 7 hours. But I've been googling this and not finding anything about it.
Another screenshot now that I am at a computer - this is from a Google Historian report from a bugreport I just generated.
Something labelled "Abort:noirq suspend of c171000.uart device failed" woke the kernel up 89696 times. Wonder if this is the "significant motion" sensor that BBS is reporting?
I have the same problem.
It's started 3 days ago and i don't know how to fix the problem.
I hope that htc would fix this problem on this weak.
If someone know how to fix this problem until htc do something, please reply.

I don't even know what the problem is - so how do you know you have the same problem?
I'm not sure this is a problem for HTC, because my phone was perfect for 3 days after resetting it. It only started again last night. If it was great for 3 days and started on the 4th, odds are that it is something about my set-up rather than a problem with the stock firmware.

I have not changed anything on my phone and the problem is surprising.
Last week I did not install apps or add files.
I also have Watsapep at the top of the table in the utilization of the battery.
android 8.0.0
software number 2.42.617.1
not rooted
stock rom
Try disabling google apps one by one
also try using your phone without wifi
I already tried disabling app by app when it first happened, and did this over 2-3 weeks basically going through all the main suspects and Google Apps.
About to go to sleep tonight, I am going to try,
1 - turning off wifi and Bluetooth and charging the phone to a decent charge level
2 - force restarting the phone after removing it from charge
3 - leaving it on the bedside table untouched until I wake up in ~7 hours
Someone with a U11+ said they need to force restart after charging, so it’s worth a shot right?
Also just posted this about the sensor in another thread. Anyone else having trouble, would appreciate if you could also try these steps,
Zico 10 said:
The ways I stumbled on this were,
1. Better Battery Stats
Under Sensors, you'll notice Google Play Services with a high percentage. Click/press it and you'll see a listing for "Sensor: Significant Motion". This to me indicates that the device thinks it is being moved and refuses to go into Doze mode.
2. Google Battery Historian
Charge your device and let it drain for a while. Then connect it to your computer and take a bug report using ADB - adb bugreport bugreport.zip .. visit an online version of the tool here https://bathist.ef.lc .. then upload the bug report. Under "kernel wake up reasons" you'll see "Abort:noirq suspend of c171000.uart device failed" with an abnormally high number.
3. Take a dumpsys of battery stats
Using ADB, after running your battery down a little, run - adb shell dumpsys batterystats > batterystats.txt .. read the file and you'll see the line I pasted above in my last post.
Would be interested to see if someone suffering from the same symptoms could try this and see if they get the same things. U11 or U11+.

With the associated battery drain I assume?
I did this overnight which actually seems to have worked,
1. Switch off Bluetooth and WiFi.
2. Charge phone (it got to 76% when I decided to sleep).
3. Remove from charger.
4. Force restart with vol down + power
Today I’ll experiment to see if I need to do the same 4 every time I charge, or if maybe it is related to only a few of these.
Overnight my battery lost only 5% in 8 hours.
When I get to work, I’ll do a battery dump to see if the noirq error is still present.
Guys today I update my google apps and the problem gone!
how your phone after the updates?
Still there. Seems to be related to charging my phone whilst Bluetooth is on.
When I disconnect from charge, I get battery drain until I charge again with Bluetooth first turned off, then restart the phone.

Found my culprit to be related to Garmin Connect, Fenix 3 watch BT connection.
Could be related to bad firmware.
Edit: Found this same error in my logs a week or two ago when I was trying to track idle drain and lack of deep sleep.
Seems to have disappeared when I disconnected my Garmin watch.
Last night I just had the first occurrence that wasn't related to Bluetooth.
The drain happened despite having Bluetooth turned off when I charged the phone, however I didn't reboot either (and haven't been doing so unless I was trying to get rid of an ongoing battery drain).
I think until we hear of a new firmware release, I'm just going to go through and turn Bluetooth off whilst charging and then restart my phone when I unplug. A minor hassle but at least a working fix.
I had the exact same problem (Significant motion) not allowing my phone to go into deep sleep. For me, just a restart helped from what I remember. Haven't seen this issue since past 4-5 days since it last happened.
I have the same problem with battery drain since the last security update. I am able to fix it temporarily by disconnecting from my huawei smart watch. I will try disconnecting BT while charging and restart after it.
Got a security update today. Hopefully this will fix the drain.
Hello
the u11+ 1.24.401.7 update was just pushed, it is said to address standby issue, my battery dump after reboot no longer contains any reference to, Abort:noirq suspend of c171000.uart device failed
Also early this week a Chrome web view update was pushed in playstore which address issues from Google's side
