Fix your persist partition. There is a guide in general. Check the sticky threads.

It'll stay on boot animation for about 10 mins on first install, while it builds up the system

[Q] [q] please help me

Fellas, can I please get some help
I have been trying to install the 4.0.4 on my rooted and unlocked boot loader on my samsung galaxy nexus. Mainly because I want to see if the volume and signal are better. I have clockwork Mod Touch installed version 5.8.0.2 and also downloaded the tool kit by:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400871
My drivers on my CPU correctly but I keep on getting this and it wont install anything. Ii did not want to install a new ROM but after so many errors I backed up my Stock 4.0.2 just to make sure and tried to load Gummy and that gave the same error. (I dont want the Gummy ROM) I just want the 4.0.4 here is a screen shot of the error message it is showing me. Guys, Thanks for your help in advance.

For one, it looks like the file isn't signed. Toggle signature verification off if you have the option (I don't know if CWM has the option, I don't use it).
There's something else that is going wrong, but I'm not quite sure what. Try reflashing the recovery. If that doesn't help, backup the SD card, format it, and try again.
So do u think I should delete clockwork mod apps and delete files from SD card then reinstall?

[Q] How to stop play store from updating?

Last year I do remember that someone posted a method by removing some file which prevented google to updating play store (it was called Market then)
I prefer the old black theme much better how can I retain it? I restored it from my backup but google updates it all over again n again. There must be a way to stop this update, please tell me how?
Found a way from a note I had stored earlier when I did this last year.
From the system folder I deleted MarketUpdater.apk after taking the backup & then reinstalled the older version. It now wont update.
You need to have root permissions before you can do it.
Hope it helps others.
I would like to know what was the last dark theme version before the new lighter version came out, as of now I have installed 3.10.14 is this the latest?
THe main reason I reverted to older version was that I wanted a dark theme but now I found a play store mod here

It offers the latest version with black dark theme so you get best of the both.
I hope it helps others.

How hard is it to revert back to stock ?

I can't wait for the next OTA update but I want to go back to stock when its released.
I will be attempting my first root on my nexus 5 to use xposed.
Another question as well is xposed its own ROM ? Or do I have to have a ROM then add xposed ? I wanted to keep the stock stuff and just add xposed to tweak it.

Easy, if you have adb setup it takes about 5-10 minutes. Follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701. Look here for rooting the N5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...ide-nexus-5-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2507905.
After that said upstairs.
It's that easy:

If you already got the necessary files, it takes less than 5minutes to revert to stock. Or if you want lesser hassle wug's nexus root toolkit will do it automatically for you in just a few clicks.

HELP! Google Play Services drained 2GB in less than a day!

Google Play Services is killing my data plan. I did some research on the forums and I am assuming this is because I just installed CM and my nexus is trying to download the new 4.4.3 update. What should I do to make it stop? I Read that for some people checking the restrict background data box works but it doesnt for others. Also read about an app called DisableServices but also came across mixed results.
Can anybody help me?

I though this was fixed in their latest builds? Which build are you on?
I thought so too. But apparently is trying to download. I was on 4.4.2 and then installed cyanogenmod 11

Install this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Go to System apps, google services and then disable "SystemUpdateService". This should fix it afaik,
Seems like the issue where the phone keeps downloading 4.4.3 over and over.

The phone installs the patch via recovery.
But how ?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
It's supposed to install automatically. Is your phone 100% stock? You might try entering recovery (from Andy on back with red triangle, press and hold power button while you push volume up once-release both and you should see a list of commands. The button thing can be tricky to do. https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/4596836?hl=en option #2, item 5. ONLY ITEM 5. DO NOT RESET PHONE). Choose Apply update from SD card. If it doesn't find the update, it will either still be in the Android recovery screen from which you can Reboot system now, or just hold the power button until it reboots. You'll have to move up to more complicated attempts (adb sideload).

It's still showing same update available

Is your phone unlocked, rooted? You can download the OTA file to install with a custom recovery module.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/ota
If your phone are original ( do not root, unlock bootloader...) you can received small sercurity update from GG month by month. Click and waitting update and restart ( maybe 10"-15") . Don'ts restart orr turn off during this time .
