You need a custom recovery for this zip. I do it manually in Root Explorer.
This issue was driving me insane until I took the phone apart and used some Q-Tips with some alcohol to clean out the grill between my ear and the speaker. It didn't look dirty but after some scrubbing I noticed more light was coming through. Now, the volume is back to being below average like it was on day one!
This procedure involves taking out the motherboard (or whatever it's called on a phone) and removing the ear piece speaker. i recommend the iFixit teardown article to see how to take it apart.

Is it possible to increase the ear piece volume higher than it already is? It's sometimes hard to hear someone on the other end when in a crowded environment.
Have you tried pressing the volume rocker on the left side of the phone while in the middle of a call?
I've been having a similar problem where everytime I make or receive a phone call the ear piece volume is only at half way, so I always have to manually adjust it when making/receiving calls. Really wish there were a setting in the options menu to have the ear piece volume set to max for all calls.
Ya i tried that, not loud enough in some situations, wish it would be louder.
there is a hack for it, i have came across it but you need to find it. There is one!

Not very helpful.... I too am having this problem. I can barely hear after flashing the optimized kernel.
Also would like it.

In Manhattan I can't hear anything without boosting the earpiece volume to 98. Too bad it isn't sticky.

This is only for earphones.
Sound balance either hardware return to vendor or factory reset after backing up data .

i think it has more to do with hardware than software.
your phone's speaker might have been damaged.

It's a hardware problem, ringtone is played from loud speaker(in the back) but call is attended from micro speaker(in the front)
So most probably, your micro speaker is damaged.

Dear All,
I have Mate 7 MT7-L10 but the call receiver volume is too low even if it is set at its maximum. Can any one have some mod to increase its volume??
Please help.
The Mate 7 is very loud. Volume enough already two-thirds. Surely that is not defective speaker?

The Mate 7 has a low volume output even when all volume controls are set to maximum and the in-pocket mode is set. I found this to be true on the in-store demo models (3 units in different stores and countries) and my own unit. The ring volume and alert volumes are also lower than they should be. If one is in a quiet environment ok, but in a noisier environment, they are way too low. Perhaps Huawei should tweak the appropriate firmware to manage this problem.

Good idea. At one point it appeared as if someone from Huawei was monitoring these XDA forums. It could be useful for them. Note. Otherwise I am very pleased with the Mate 7.

Yes very right all other things are perfect in this model except low volume which can be managed by tweaking through firmware. As I have a Note 3 and was planning to buy Note 4 but I am quite satisfy with Mate 7 except this low volume issue.
I agree that the volume is low compared to other high end phones.
Has anyone found a solution yet to increase call volume when using headphones on the Mate 7? I am barely able to hear the other party during calls, even at the maximum setting.
I don't know what is the problem in your unit. Believe me this phone is the highest volume, I have ever seen. I have to reduce the volume so that other people don't listen to conversation even without speakers off.

Using the headset or the earpiece? I'm talking of using the headset. The output of the 3.5mm jack is far too low.
I found a solution, btw. I deleted the /system/etc/audio/codec folder and tadaaa - output appears at least twice as loud, both during calls and when listening to music. Previously, I had to set my car's stereo to volume setting 25 (I usually use 15 when listening to the radio) to be able to hear something on the autobahn, now I only need to set it to 12-15.
So there definitely was an issue with output on the headphone jack, and for my device it is now solved.

Alright I thought you saynig earpiece.. or loud speaker...
but you mentioned you deleted codecs in system audio ..
now go and check your video recording and you will hear distorted audio
check pls and let me know..
i know this trick long time ago and I did it on earlier phones (i think on lg) and audio in video recording was wrong.. don't remember now if it was left or right

Everything's just fine. I know it's always a risk tinkering with the system, which is why I made a backup of the codec folder just in case. But so far, no issues at all in daily use.

Hello,
I'm wondering how I might override the volume on my device in order to make the loudspeaker... louder. My device is rooted and has SmartPack Kernel app on it.
Any help is appreciated.
i am using this app. Hope this answers your question.

Well it did help and it has also made me realize how loud I listen to music with headphones on. My iphone which I use as a music player gets very loud whether it's the loudspeaker or using headphones. With the app you suggested I can tell the Note 3 is getting very old it doesn't handle its volume being overridden well, it sounded distorted and unclear (I had it at 5% boosted).
Oh well, I can live with how it is as-is.
Gave it another shot today.
I rooted the device and then flashed LOLZ kernel and with SmartPark have been able to up the decibels for the headphone jack and for whatever reason SmartPack's method doesn't distort the audio like the Booster app did.

Perhaps. I fear that my phone is going to be toast soon, the loudspeaker is starting to get that airy failing noise of a speaker sound haha.
I upped the decibel for the loudspeaker by 2% and the headphone jack I think to 3-4%.
BUT even before I did that to the loudspeaker it was giving me that failing sound.

It's just getting old, I guess. Either I'll have to upgrade soon or keep replacing parts.
