[Q] Photon Q - Good plan for upgrade CM from 10.2 to 11 - Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

Hello guys
I successfully installed CM 10.2 - with description on Cyanogenmod wiki site with CWM recovery.
(http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_xt897) it was few months ago, and now this branch is obsolete
Now i would like to move on CM-11-M12
i tryied to install with new guideline on cyanogen mod but it stops when i am showing the package at cwm - it is saying that package is not for this phone.
So main question - does somebody done something like that ? if so, please give me few main guidelines how to do that, or what i am doing wrong ?
Thanks in Advance
Wojciech

Update your recovery - CWM is not very updated for the PhotonQ.
Use TWRP or OpenRecovery for a more updated recovery.

Thanks for that - it was very helpful.
one more thing that should be noticed and it isn't written on tutorial :
for Photon q you should use moto_msm8960_jbbl because normal will not work, info found on CM blog post

We don't have many tutorials here. I spose you just gotta do a lot of reading before you understand all of the little idiosyncrasies with the device .

Root didnt work?
Hello,
I attempted to root My European Xoom which is on JB 4.1.2 Folowed the instruction from FAQ How do I root my device.
I followed all the instructions from Manual Root Way, by XxLordxX and everything went fine. Did exactly as said so when I finally reached the point where you download "Root Checker Basic" and it says Sorry! This device does not have proper root access. But there is a superuser app but it doesnt do much. So whats gone wrong guys?
Plus once this problem is fixed do I need to do Step 5: Backup Image to SD card and Step 6: Restoring Image from SD card?
To load a custom rom.
Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for following my guide! I will try helping you as much as possible! Please, try opening Superuser app and checking if it has the su binary (SU app usually does it automatically). And for step 5 and 6 are not necessary to load a custom ROM .
Cheers,

Thanks Lord, sorry for the late reply Ive been having laptop problems.
Ive opened the superuser app It has 3 tabs on the top Apps, Log, Settings. I go into settings and at the bottom in Superuser information heading, it has Su Binary v3.0.3.1 tap to check for updates. When i click on that it checks for updates and then says checking available version failed.

[Q] Need gapps for TF101 for CM10.1 nightly

I am posting my question in a new thread since I do not have permissions to post it in official 'No-name CM10.1 nightlies' thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159089.
I have installed CM 10.1 nightly, but need gapps. The thread says there is a link to it on the post, but there isn't one.
Any help finding gapps would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I found this link in the firs post under the GAPPS section: http://nexfiles.kjonigsen.net/tf101/gapps/

Yes, I saw and downloaded only two available there. (which both failed to install). I need at least google play app to start with.
What recovery are you using, and did you check that the downloads are good?
Might have just resolved the issue

Hi Freduruco, The problem might have just resolved. I downloaded 'gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip' directly from CM website. Installation went smooth, and able to log into store app. So far it hasn't crashed on me, so things look good.
As always a big thanks for your help.
As for earlier question, I am using TWRP 2.2. Both photo sphere / picasa apps failed to install earlier.

[Q&A] [MOD] [unofficial] Multirom V28 (GPE/STOCK - testing)

Q&A for [MOD] [unofficial] Multirom V28 (GPE/STOCK - testing)
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [MOD] [unofficial] Multirom V28 (GPE/STOCK - testing). If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.

@montamer can you update the multirom package to make it working with lollipop??? its possible? :fingers-crossed:
Cyanogenmod 12
I was trying to install C.M. 12 on my Moto G XT1031 and some error had occured while trying to boot into C.M. 12 I have a log from Multirom called multirom_log.txt I can attach this log to this post. Hopefully you may know what this actually means. I have been trying to read into the log but I have come up with nothing. It may be that Multirom does not support Android L at the moment. Please let me know if this is the case. Also the Multirom version is V28
multirom moto g + ubuntu touch
So i got multirom on my moto g working. Did it via the app, while the thread says that's not supported yet.
I'm curious, is there any way i can install ubuntu touch now?
thanks a lot
So whats d progress of new multirom v30.Is it building && moto e got its multirom v30 port but is currently in testing ...so what about our devicr
Primary - Secondary
Hi all,
I have Cyanogenmod 11 on primary rom and slimkat 8 on secondary.
Slimkat for my moto g works better, so i'd like to make it primary rom.
There seems to be an option to make slimkat primary.
Does that work? and if so, how to do it correclty?
Many thanks,
Shino
Replace Primary rom
Hello everyone,
I would like to replace the primaly rom. How exactly should i do this?
thanks
Is there any way to remove multirom? I found removal tools for the nexus 5 etc but not for the moto g. Please help
OFFICIAL CM12 is giving error on both primary and secondary installation
Official download of CM12 giving error while installing on XT1033. Tried to install CM12 as a secondary ROM. Also tried to update CM11 into CM12. But its getting stuck on boot-logo. Is any file is need to update in Multi-booted device?
ROM selection option is not displaying, after swapping ROMs
After swapping ROMs between STOCK and CM12, multiple ROM selection option is not displaying. On rebooting it is directly booting into Primary ROM. Whats the solution
Any update from devs who are trying to build MultiRom compatible with Lollipop?
I'm not sure this is the right place to post this, but I have posted less than 10 posts, so I have to.
This may not be news, but I have gotten Lolipop to boot as the primary ROM with the multirom and recovery from this thread. I have built my own kernel from latest CM12 sources. The boot.img is attached to this post, the source is on Github. I hope it works for somebody else than me!
This probabbly won't work for GPE phones without modification to the ramdisk's fstab.qcom.
Hello!
Bootloader unlocked - check!
Rooted - check!
Able to flash a Moto G version of TWRP - check!
However I'm unable to boot into the MultiROM-modified TWRP. After flashing I immediately try to boot into it after selecting Recovery from the fastboot menu and using the Moto's up-volume-key but, I just get "Failed to boot" in yellow text.
Does anyone have any ideas? Once I re-flash the non-MultiROM-modified TWRP I can boot into TWRP recovery fine and boot the system again. Settings says my device is a "Moto G" so presumably it's a 1st-gen. It has 4G (it's a UK model).
Thanks in advance,
Steve

I think u should put your questions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877166
This topic is only for LiquidSmooth questions
About your question: Install BMM and do partition stuffs then you will be able to install 4 more custom ROMs on your phone :fingers-crossed:
But first, read this great tutorial (including videos)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602229
System 6 Error when loading Nano/mini Gapps on LS v32 Atrix2
I got brave today, after much reading on the forums and watching Tech ArnY rooting videos and BMM 0.3.4 - Great information.
Here are the steps that I took today and their results:
1.) Rooted the Atrix 2 MB865 (AT&T) that has OTA ICS 4.0.4 ROM. Rooting was successful,
2.) Post install of MBB 0.3.4 and SuperUser, I kept the ICS 4.0.4 ROM on System 1 of the phone.
3.) Next, following Tech Arn Y's teaching, I was able to successfully flash LiquidSmooth (AcePort-LS-KK-Milestone-3.2-edison.zip) onto System 3 post wipe clean /dalvik, et cetera and successful install.
4.) So far, so good. Next I attempted to load GAPPS from this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942). Again, post check of MD5 check sum for both mini and nano GAPPS - no issues.
5.) While attempting to flash either the mini or nano GAPPS onto the Atrix 2 into System 3, it shows the following (E: Error in /ext/pa_gapps-modular-nano-4.4.4-20141121-signed.zip) (Status 6) Installation aborted.
6.) I can boot into either ROM without issues, however, even after a reflash of System 3 and again successful install of LS-KK-Miestone 3.2, GAPPS gives Status 6 install error.
Looking for clues in these forums, but I have not come across anything yet. Any/all help would be very much appreciated!
@Starrider17 I'm betting your gapps are too large for your partition size. Find the PA gapps thread and download the pico gapps then try again. If it fails again the PA gapps will generate a log and place it on your SD card to tell you why it failed.

Thanks 1BadWolf for the reply. At first, I thought that the size of the GAPPS was perhaps the issue, but it did not end up to be the case. After continuing my search in XDA Forums (a wealth of great information here without doubt!), I stumbled upon a video that explained Status 6 and Status 7 errors which are the most common when flashing GAPPS post ROM into any phone. In my case, here is the summary of the events:
1.) Flashed pa-gapps mini 4.4.4 (at 229 mbytes ) - Status 6 error.
2.) Wipe clean System 3 and then flashed pa-gapps-nano 4.4.4 (at 120 mbytes) 2x - Status 6 error.
3.) Being somewhat frustrated, and yet challenged, I took the clue for the status 6 error and by chance, I grabbed the Slim_mini-gapps 4.4.4 (at 65 mybtes) - Gapps successfully loaded!
4.) Wanting to confirm whether the issue lives in the size of the GAPPS - or - something in one of the scripts (Meta-INF > com > google > android > update-binary or update-script), I went ahead and did another Wipe-Clean and flashed Slim-normal-gapps 4.4.4 (at 183 mbytes) - Gapps successfully loaded
Summary: In business and in life, something a solution or a work-around is found and implemented without knowing the root cause!
Hopefully, the documenting of my journey here will be beneficial to someone down the road just as many of the posting in this forum have been (and continue to be) to me too!

Hey guys, thanks for trying out my Liquidsmooth port and offering your feedback. Unfortunately, I'm no longer able to work on the existing ports or even lollipop since development has completely died down.
This is because our current recovery, BMM isn't able to boot any lollipop rom and it's the only working one we have. All developers and supporters have moved on pretty much, so all you can do is just play around with what's there. I'm still kinda around with my A2, but don't have the time to do anything anymore since I've moved onto a newer device, work, life, etc.
If you want someone to blame for this, firstly blame Motorola for the locked bootloader and then blame Google for making 5.0 have enforced SELinux which is why we can't boot any LP rom. Aside from that, this device is amazing to have and I hope you all have a wonderful time with it.

Got OP6 6 months ago new android user, need help with rooting?

Hi I want to root my phone. I am on android 9 and OOS 9.0.8. I have seen the guides on XDA and that is not what I am scared of. Can anyone link the correct twrp and magisk files that would I use as I am not sure which ones are suitable for the current OOS and android version I am on now. I have read loads of people saying using the wrong files can brick your phone and I dont really want to do that.Thanks.
Just use latest magisk and latest Blu spark twrp bcuz you are on the latest version of Android [Android 9 (Pie)]

I am slightly confused by the naming convention of the blu spark files on this website. Which two img and zip files go together?
Yeah it's pretty confusing to me too that's why I just follow his most recent stuff on his GitHub instead of the downloads section. He stopped updating the downloads section I think so that's why I've switched to his GitHub for he updates more frequently and faster to his GitHub.
(It's so he doesn't have to update his files multiple places bcuz it must get tedious for him/her)
