[Q] Gmail Exchange option not present after Lollipop upgrade - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Yesterday I upgraded my XT1032 to GPe Lollipop.
One of the things I noticed is that the expected Exchange possibility in Gmail is not present.
I can add Google-account and IMAP/POP-accounts, but not Exchange-accounts.
This should be available in Gmail together with Lollipop or not?
Anyone else having the same issue?

Same issue here, MOTO G 2013 upgraded to lollipop last week

Eventualy I installed a different exchange server which I found on my Galaxy Tab 2 with Lollipop.
There I had exchange with Gmail.
After instelling this exchange on my MotoG it worked.
Let me know if you to have it.

Exchange services is installed (see your apps list in settings/apps) on your MotoG. On my Galaxy tab2 I found another version and installed that one on my MotoG. Since then I can read exchange mail as well.

HTC Sense Stock Mail App

I've been running into a problem where email gets deleted from the app almost immediately after I check it. Has anyone else seen this problem? Any idea the causes?
anyone knows how to search email in the stock email?

Which program do you use for gmail?

Hello there,
i use the program gmail that comes by default, and i think it´s great.
But, one thing i´ve noticed is, this software doens´t work with the multiscreen. Only messaging. But messagin it´s not push email, but only sync from time to time, which it´s diferent from the gmail program.
Which one do you use for gmail? the messaging program, or the gmail app?
many thanks
By messaging app is that the stock samsung email app? If so that's what I use only because I monitor 4 email accounts. If I had only a Gmail account to monitor I'd use the stock Gmail app. I find it much better then all other email apps put out by the companies.
Yes it is.
But if we want to use the multiscreen we have to use the messaging app, which its not push, But the gmail one

Correct. For push you need stock Gmail app. However I think in jb someone said there are more options for multiscreen. Or on the Note 2 essentially you could do any apps. Hopefully that will make its way to us.

WHOAHHHH!!! Samsung really listens.......i.mean.REALLY.listens........WHOAHHHHHHHHHHHH :good:
The samsung email app does work with push on gmail.
Just configure as "exchange server" and use m.google.com as adress.
Disable calendar syncing at next dialogues (as it would sync your gmail calendar twice)
I will continue to use the gmail app, I'm holding out until the note2 like multiscreen update.... anyway, the email app does have interesting features, like rich text editing and pasting graphics inside a mail

[4.4] Exchange Pin Security Bypass

I could successfuly apply the exchange security bypass method mentioned in the below post.

I haven't been able to test these yet, but If someone wants to check report back. If not I will check tomorrow. Stock email and exchange apks with the pin bypassed.
Backup your current email and exchange apks including their odexed files and push these to system/app, set permissions, and reboot.

This has been posted in the Nexus 5 section but I'm running AT&T 4.4 leak with latest OTA, have followed the instructions and it works
Edit: you need to be rooted as you're going to replace system apps

Yes it does. Just download the files to your phone, rename the current files in System/app to Email.apk.bak and Exchange2.apk.bak. Copy these new files to System/app and rename them to Email.apk and Exchange2.apk, then set permissions to 644 or rw-r-r. Then reboot. Solid Explorer works great for doing all of this directly on the phone.
For some reason now when I go to add account, there are 3 options for Corporate, but they all do the same thing. Other than that it works like a champ with security disabled. I tried the Xposed modules but couldn't get any of them to work, this worked first try.
Weird. I tried that exactly and couldn't get it to work. The email app didn't show up. I'll give it another shot.
Edit. Tried it again and it still didn't work. Not sure why.
I'll give it a try!

Anyone else with VZW that was able to get this working? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Edit: I'm an idiot and had the permissions wrong. Too much turkey apparently.
FYI Exposed Module "Exchange Bypass for Xposed [1.6]" works on MotoX 4.4.2
Try Enhanced Email instead of stock mail app.. it has saved my life: company mail/ calendar sync with native(!!) agenda -w/o the pain of company policy restrictions..
Mail wise also works with built in exchange security bypass. But it's in beta. Who knows how much they'll charge for it when beta ends and if the exchange bypass will remain.

Personally: I stick with Enhanced Email, because it provides beside company policy bypass also integration of exchange calendar with my native calendar app on my Android.. As my secretary puts all my appointments in my exchange agenda, for me a very convenient way to see all my private and work appointments on one place..

I tried the Exchange Security Bypass for Nexus devices & AOSP by shantzg001... doesn't work. I think.
It still says device admin still require a PIN. I can, of course, go to device admin and disable Email there, but that beats the purpose, no?
Bottomline: how exactly do I run this module? lol

It's about time they support more than Gmail. Now if they get around to supporting Exchange life would be great. I guess one can keep dreaming.
On a side note, is there a way to change the font size and or color? I don't dig the smaller grey fonts, a total PITA to read on a white background.
OK, fixed font size with the App Settings X posed module, set the Gmail font size to 110%. Unfortunately that does not help with the font color. Who was the UI design genius who decided that a gray font on a white background is a good idea?

Sure about that? It only gives me the option of IPOP, not full Exchange sync (corporate email). If you have managed to get full Exchange sync to work please share the details.

I forgot that you also have to update the Google Exchange apk before you see that option in the new Gmail 5.0 app. Check out this blog post for more information and the apk links. But yes, it does work after updating both apks.
Thanks for the clarification. It will indeed do Exchange but STILL no threading of any type. How 90s... I am sticking with Nine for the moment. Nice interface, good threading, outstanding support, access to your corporate email directory . Well worth the $10 if you do a lot of exchange email.
Im using Inbox. Im good.
I like inbox better as well. But thanks for the post. Many will thank you for it.

Inbox does not do Exchange, I think

[Q] MS Exchange Account

Just wondering if any of you are using the the Z3 with an MS Exchange account (not office365) and getting email and calendar events to sync accordingly?

Thanks. I think then it's an issue with my phone. Searching the interwebs doesn't really say much about the topic in terms of syncing errors. and, sony support seems to indicate they have "not had one issue with exchange and email/calendar syncing."
I've had issues with android native email app not synching. Can you describe your issue in more detail, it could be the same as mine.

well the email app takes the exchange account, I get email coming in with push. but I don't get calendar events. no matter what I do.
there's no error, or message, just doesn't show up. same settings on my two year old samsung, works just fine.
Check my blog entry at blogs.msdn.com/Baliles. I posted an article on how to get it to work.

thanks for the suggestion. I actually came across your msdn post a while ago. BUT, unfortunately, outlook.com (365) is not my exchange provider, so it's a moot point.
thanks again for the post.
btw I'm using Google calendar if that makes a difference
Have you tried alternative clients?
I use mailwise and I am getting emails and calendar sync no issues.

yeah that actually did it! I spent the day going down the list of exchange and email clients and in the play store and when I got to mailwise, it actually synced up the calendar events.
I damn near fell of the chair
thanks again for the suggestion. I'm not at all sure what the difference is, in setting up an exchange activesync account from mailwise as opposed to say cloudmagic or the sony email app or k9, etc...
anyway it worked and I hope this thread comes in handy for any unlucky soul that faces this issue.
Just my story and suggestion:
We use the Mdaemon Server (v14) with active sync support. First synce with my Z3 went finde. But immediately after that everything got messed up.
So after a few times adding and removint the account I tried to use the original Android Exchange client - same story here. Started to work and the just stopped to sync.
As a finel solution and afer running trough tons of Google-searches I have found the holy grail for me - Nine.
The cool thing for me was that it has a 2 weeks test-period after which you need to activate it.
So I tested about 11 days without any error and decided to buy it. So far no regrets on my decision! What I totaly like is that it has a well working search and a chat-view mode for the messages.
Anyway -- just give it a try - 2 weeks free testing.
The key was 7,60€ or whatever - equals 9.99USD.

Strange, every time I do so I get the following:
Email App - Address lines cutting off in replies
Hello dear,
There is a problem i noticed with the Z3 email client after setting up my office email on Exchange.
for example, i am getting an email from someone with multiple people in "CC" and "To".
If i do a "reply all" or "reply only to the sender", in my reply, all the other addresses other than the sender's name gets cut off from the email to which i am replying.. This is a very disappointing thing for me since it seriously deforms the email chain and make us lose track of who all where there in the earlier email. This is especially bad when using for corporate official emails.
Before switching to Sony, (due to Battery life), i was using Samsung Galaxy and Samsung email app never had this issue. Whether you reply or forward, the previous emails were intact with all addresses and details.
Any idea on how to solve this?
regards....
