[Q] Cannot mount internal SD to do backup - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 model GT-P5113TS. The tablet got bricked on an unsucessful Android update. Before bringing it back to life through a factory reset or a ROM reflash, I'd like to backup some files stored in the internal memory. The problem is that there is no way to mount the internal memory. I tried with three different recoveries (TWRP, clockworkmod and Philz) with no effect. I can see the files in the recovery file manager, but I can't get them out of there. I read a lot of posts on this forum and nothing works.
Any ideas to try?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] ClockworkRecoveryMod possible problem.

SO, i'm kinda new to flashing roms onto android, but I followed guides and might have run into a problem. I flashed clockwork recovery mod onto my internal sd, and when i try to install cyanogenmod, clockwork defaults to my internal sd. As far as I can tell, I have to wipe that to install. Is clockwork being on my internal sd a problem? And if so, how would i go about fixing that.
Thanks in advance for any feedback, and sorry if this has been posted somewhere else.
It's not ON your internal sdcard. It reads files FROM your internal sdcard. Recovery will remain on your phone no matter what you do to your sdcard. So flash away.

[Q] Clockworkmod v5.8.3.1 no mounting sdcard

I have a Motorola Xoom MZ601 UK WiFi+3G and have rooted with Clockworkmod v5.8.3.1 and installed new roms successfully up to now.
However, I cannot go any further as the sdcard will not mount. I have tried all that I can think of, like formating the sdcard, unmount/mount, partition it, etc.
The operating system shows the card there along with the contents. I have tried different sdcards and they are all visible from the OS but not from the recovery program.
What should I do now? Do I need to re-install clockworkmod recovery again.
(Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, I have tried to search for answers but have failed to find any) This seems to have been an old problem, solved with an upgrade which 5.8.3.1 exceeds.
Problem solved
OK, Problem solved.
The last resort was to reload the clockworkmod image using adb.
Everything is fine now, the sdcard mounts OK.

[Q] How to flash a ROM without access to internal SD card Tab2 10.1

Hi all,
I have in the past install cyanogenmod 10.1 via Clockwork Recovery Mod. I was "playing" around and basically I am stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" (formatting things in Recovery.....I know stupid!)
Most ROMS seem to suggest installing via Clockwork by copying the files over to the SD card, I am a little lost because I cannot even boot to android and Clockwork doesn't seem to allow USB storage (not sure if it was designed to).
I assume I can flash cyanogenmod again using ODIN? If so how would I go about doing this? Download mode is working fine so fingers crossed you guys can help.
Many thanks!!!!!

If download mode is working, why not just download the original rom for your tablet - get back to stock, and start over ? Not sure if your formatting may have changed something - I would feel more comfortable flashing back to stock with ODIN, and starting my rooting / upgrading / flashing from a solid / stock base.
Just my .02 cents
Good luck, and hopefully someone will jump in with a more useful option
Regards,
You can switch your internal and external storage, so your tablet thinks everything on your sd card is your internal storage. This way you should be able to access your internal storage again (unless your phone doesn't even give you the option to select internal storage). You can do this with the Link2SD app. Besides, this way your internal storage has more space too.

[Q] S7500T CWM Unable to mount USB storage

Hello,
My partner's S7500T (Australian Telstra version) went into a boot loop after an update from a game and we want to recover some files from the internal sd card.
From other threads I've tried CWM 5.0.2.8 to get to the files but when I select mount USB storage, it brings up E:Unable to write to ums lunfile. Searching on the internet, I've figured it's a partially incompatible version of CWN for the phone since there isn't one available normally.
Is there any way we can get the files? Thankyou for any help.

USB Storage is not supported on Ace plus.
You can recover files using ADB (Don't know if it works in CWM), or flash Stock ROM.

[Q] How to mount internal SD as UMS for file recovery?

I'm trying to recover some important photos that were deleted by mistake on a friend's Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8013) that is running JB. I installed the newest TWRP because I saw some others say they were able to mount the internal SD as UMS. If I disable MTP in TWRP the file recovery applications see nothing. Is there another way to go about this? I've seen someone else saying he was able to do it using dd to do a low level backup of the internal SD, but details are scarce. I don't want to load a different ROM since that would probably wipe out everything I am trying to recover.
Thanks for any advice!
